I haven't used it for anything other than an odyssey machine honestly. Pretty much turned me off consoles altogether. Even the N64 didn't have this much of an obscene content draught. Every port feels bad to play. Maybe you don't notice if you don't have a PC but everything on switch feels like a super shitty version of that game.
I could list off at least 100 games genuinely worth playing on the systems, third party devs were scrambling to make games uniquely for it, not so for switch.

Klonoa 2 also is all about atmosphere, it has A LOT of areas with dark atmosphere that not present in this flat and lifeless remaster smothered in bloom.

in the wii version there a number of locations you can go to to change costume, view models, watch movies ect.
there is a challenging extra vision that was in the original.
the biggest post-game thing is mirrored levels (i know they're just mirrored boo) but they each contain a portal to a super hard challenge.
beating all these and getting 100 gems in each level is quite the task.
Yeah. The originals are better but it's mostly because of a lot of minor things that someone who's never played the game before probably won't notice. If for some reason you end up really liking the games you can always go check out the originals to compare, or even check out some of the GBA games.

This ~~*remake*~~ was obviously done on the cheap. They are probably using Unity and just didnt bother with any features that were in the original that werent built in. (PS2 games were often bespoke code and effects, especially Japanese games).

1440p no problems here. Just make sure to set interlacing to Bob since other ones get choppy 60 FPS. You might get flickering 2d graphics but consistent framerate

I haven't used it for anything other than an odyssey machine honestly. Pretty much turned me off consoles altogether. Even the N64 didn't have this much of an obscene content draught. Pac-Man World only needed to be remade because of the AtGames bullshit, the original versions included Ms. Pac-Man in one way or another. Plus, at least we can finally get HQ versions of World 1's music.

Klonoa 2 also is all about atmosphere, it has A LOT of areas with dark atmosphere that not present in this flat and lifeless remaster smothered in bloom.
Both versions are good. The complaints are actual morons comparing pre-rendered cutscenes to in-game rendered ones, the game itself still looks good. Aesthetically the ps1 version is crunchier whereas the remake is brighter and more vivid and that's about it.

The remake has better post-game content and is a fine entry into the IP, just emulated the original at some point if you like it. They are very short games so it's not like you play it once then never again.

there is a challenging extra vision that was in the original.
the biggest post-game thing is mirrored levels (i know they're just mirrored boo) but they each contain a portal to a super hard challenge.
beating all these and getting 100 gems in each level is quite the task.

This ~~*remake*~~ was obviously done on the cheap. They are probably using Unity and just didnt bother with any features that were in the original that werent built in. (PS2 games were often bespoke code and effects, especially Japanese games).
That said it is Klonoa 1-2 on modern platforms and we are not getting anything else.

My only complaints so far are that 1's camera swings way too hard and fast at those parts where you wrap around levels and that they butchered the final cutscene. Klonoa does a really shitty poorly looped head shaking animation and less effects just makes the portal scene awkward. Haven't played 2 yet.

having watched fbk stream I can see they used the Wii version rendition of that ending cutscene, they swapped the bodies though, yeah it looks awkward. Also the portal in the sky barely looks like one and looks like Klonoa just got sucked into the sky.

I only played the GBA Klonoa game and I loved it, are the others pretty much the same? It had some puzzles in it that made my brain feel huge as a kid.
