X-2 exists
FFX-2's story is shit, but the gameplay is undeniably fun.
yes
and sorta yes, today x-2 would be a dlc
That game isn't good though, and 13 came after which is a far better designed game.
>nd 13 came after which is a far better designed game.
frick off
>13 came after which is a far better designed game
Absolutely not.
I'm not a XIII hater by any means but in no way is it better designed than X. Apart from maybe having on-field encounters, but the majority of the level design is so on-rails that it's basically the same as random encounters in practical terms.
I'm talking about the design of the gameplay, ie. the combat. Exploration is not a core component of either game.
When I said "in no way is it better designed than X" I meant it, that includes the combat.
>13 is the logical conclusion to the trends X started
No it's not.
It stripped out all the elements that made FFX's hyperlinearity tolerable, like npcs and mini-games. FFXIII is walk-combat-cutscene almost the entire game. Even the progression is streamlined to the point of meaninglessness.
FFXIII's story is also significantly worse in every regard. Worse pacing, worse characters, worse worldbuilding, worse antagonists, worse arcs, worse endings, etc.
FF10's combat is abysmal though, it's just basic simon says, where you attack armored enemies with Auron, attack flying enemies with Wakka etc. On top of that there are so many oversights and stupid design decisions, such as forcing you to swap all your characters in for every battle in order to avoid wasting AP. If Final homosexualry worshiping morons like you actually played JRPGs outside of this piece of shit franchise, you would realize that Breath of Fire 4 executed every worthwhile concept from FF10's battle system far better on the PS1.
X is the first FF to be on rails, the little "exploration" it has is so unsatisfying that it might as well not be there. 13 is the logical conclusion to the trends X started. Honestly if 13 had a good story I think people would like it way more. Its hard for me to understand why X gets the praise it does.
>Its hard for me to understand why X gets the praise it does.
FF fans are low IQ NPCs who endlessly regurgitate opinions they read on GameFAQs (FF worship central) in the 00s. They don't have critical thinking skills, if they did they would realize that pretty much the entire franchise is shit, particularly the installments they worship the most (the SNES games and 10)
>better designed
>20 hours of a hallway.
X is literally a hallway too until the plains, which to be fair takes like 10 less hours to reach than 13's chapter 12.
this but unironically
the first 10 hours of FFX is unskippable tutorials and cutscenes too which makes it trash for multiple playthrus
at least in VIII you can skip those
I see what you did there.
XI and XII were both great.
one is an online MMO that has no charm, design or creativity compared to its previous FF.
The other an offline MMO that has no charm, design or creativity compared to its previous FF.
Both had the best world design in the franchise. I can forgive people for looking past XI because paid MMO, but XII is top-tier.
It has the best world, the best look, best dub, best combat, it's exactly the direction I wanted FF to go in except that the story is extremely unfinished. This falls flat for a lot of people because after FF6-10, story became a really big part of FF. Something emotional with a focus on memorable characters. 12 doesn't flesh itself out and basically just stops trying half way through. I like it a lot but for what FF fans expect I kinda get it. The complaints about combat playing itself are moronic though. I guess people would rather spam the O button through small encounters for some reason.
FFXII is the only one besides maybe the first game that feels like a bona-fide adventure. A world you can actually get lost in. You're right though, plot did take a backseat.
FFXI was the last good one, but yeah X was the last good singleplayer one.
>XI
>no charm
it was literally the hands-down most soulful MMO in it's peak
it also holds the record for longest undefeated video game boss
it's also (unfortunately) responsible for Discord's existence
>last good
This game was popular because PS2 graphics.
9 shits on it hard in every avenue except pure graphics fidelity and load times because it's ps1, and is still one of the best looking ps1 games.
16 is fricking dope i just preordered it and have it ore loaded can't wait to start playing at midnight
16 looks good to me but people around here are so upset over it I'm holding my tongue. For all I know it'll be a disaster but I'm really optimistic.
Correct
>make linear game
>People hate it
>Make open world game
>People hate it
>Make open zone game
>Incels cry about sex
Square just can't win...
We were robbed of FF Versus XIII
Literally the start of the decline.
I played FFXIII And FFXIII-2 bcos i like girly tiddies and asses and walking around as these girls.
FFXIII-2 had some pokemon esk game mechanic which I had to use walk throughs to understand. So that was annoying.
these modern FF games like XV and XIV dont have the tiddies and asses and girls i like so this is when I dropped the series.
redpilled take
