Yeah it's pretty funny having gone from Vita to Switch but it makes enough sense when you consider that Sony openly declared war on niche Japanese games during the PS4 lifespan. That was pretty much my motivator for getting the frick away from PlayStation. I still fondly remember the days I browsed Vitagen...good times.
for me it was the final nail in the coffin for playstation, i haven't touched anything from them since; i simply don't trust anything they make anymore, they'll drop it in a heartbeat and blame everything and anyone but themselves
I sure do remember the "Vita has no games" back in the day since the console was too Japanese.
Still missing a few things like Dragon's Crown, Muramasa, Odin's Sphere, Utawarerumono, IA/VT Colorful and Ebikore Amagami but it largely replaced the Vita to me.
Catherine was the last official game to come out for the Vita that I remember, after that I stopped paying attention to anything Vita related when it came to releases.
Vita Japanese releases were limited to visual novels or really downgraded ports of PS4 games in its second half of its lifespan, and I do believe Catherine Fullbody was the last 'big' release on it. Some projects such as 13 Sentinels, City Shrouded in Shadow and Anonymous;Code had to cancel the Vita versions too.
Wrong, but you wouldnt want it to even if you were right, that would frick up the thumbsticks. It comes with a protective case. Just put that in your purse nancy.
>expensive memory cards >best games got no physical release in the west >meaning you had to download those games >but you couldn't because of point one
bravo sony
the analog sticks ruined what would have otherwise been a great portable handheld. they had it right the first time with the nub. even Nintendo learned from the PSP and included a nub, maybe because they had a clambshell design they lucked into the choice.
1-3ds couldnt have a stick because of the clamshel design.
2-people wanted another one because its moronic to play 3d games with 1 stick. Same thing was with psp.
3-if the nubs were so great why did tendo ditch them on switch?
especially the portable lite.
yeah nub is better to fit in the pocket but it sucks to play games on.
>notice how no one complains about the nub on the 3DS, instead they want another one.
Literally everyone does what the frick are you talking about. It had poor traction and movement, ripped easily and then the tiny nub they added on the N3DS got even less love
>poor traction and movement
the frick are you on about
it moved everywhere it needed to go
like an analog stick
yet fricking flat
so it fits in your pocket
like a portable SHOULD
It was stiff and had poor gripping that wore easily. Try playing an action oriented game or one that requires heavy along usage and you see how shit it is

That's more the fault of the 3DS's ergonomics than it is the circle pad, get a grip for your 3DS and Smash becomes pretty comfortable
everytime a "eck is portable" gay shows up just remember they try to pull out that gigantic baby tablet out of their backpack and everyone starts looking at them weirdly
This is fanfiction, nobody cares enough to judge you for your technology. If you think anyone cares about what you're using you have main character syndrome.
there are loads of people judging others for what phone they use.
so there will definetly be people judging you for using deck or vita or any other pos tech shit.
just because you dont give a frick doesnt mean other dont also.
What are you guys playing on your Vita?
Rn its my picross macheen.
additionally to that im also playing Gravity rush(sony port the frickin games to steam you israelites, im not gonna buy ps4 for 2nd game)
and midnight club la via adrenaline.
any good game recommends?
Im not into RPGs tho
>any good game recommends?
here's a list i made a while back, mostly more niche shit
mhfu and soul sacrifice. hows ffx on vita? ive heard bad things about the remaster so im wondering if im just better off emulating it on pc
>hows ffx on vita?
good I think, the main problem I've heard about the remaster is the faces but since Vita is a handheld it might not effect it that much. Also, you can patch in the original soundtrack.
>kinda want a vita for the hell of it to mod it >just modded my Switch and it practically does the same thing >only exclusive games I want are basically Gravity Rush and Killzone
is it worth it? Does Switch emulate vita well?
the switch definitely does not emulate the Vita at all, even PC has kinks
sadly dont think any shops have em near me.
And I genuinely dont like online shopping.
Ill probably be able to find 128 card in one.
Or I could just nick the 64 one from my phone
The Vita is barely at the threshold where you can have a smartphone ride next to it in the pocket. The Switch Lite would at least need the whole space, assuming it doesn’t jut out at the top
>kinda want a vita for the hell of it to mod it >just modded my Switch and it practically does the same thing >only exclusive games I want are basically Gravity Rush and Killzone
>Does Switch emulate vita well?
Nothing emulates Vita well.
Lucky for (You) most of the important games have already been ported to other systems with some rare gems in Vita. I still use it to play Gundam Breaker 3.
>have a vita >buy a backup one for when the first one breaks down >it never fricking breaks down
I'm worried the backup one will even boot at this point, it's still unopened in the box for maybe 10 years already...
Yeah I've been living in paranoia due to vitagen spam about dying oled vitas but I have launch EU model and don't even have the spots that are always posted.
Kinda funny to think the 3DS were so consumer friendly
Basic ass SD storage ang it played every DS game from the get go.
Your PSP Collection meant jack shit and even if they let you somehow transfer your UMDs into digital, you'd still be fricked with their shitty memory cards
Pretty sure you can use a SD card for game storage on the PSP, but I think only after you hack it. For the vita you need to hack it and then buy some bullshit to let you use a SD card.
for the vita you do need to buy an adaptor which lets you use the game card slot as mem card.
No need to purchase any software unlike when modding wiiu(atleast old method)
Or if you have the 3g model iirc you can replace the sim card slot with sd card slot but it requires hardmodding.
No, psp used a propietary memory stick bullshit that was like 5 times more expensive than an sd that did the same shit.
Best case scenario you could've used an adaptor but it could get janky and frick up.
The reality is that PSP was just an emulation/MH machine with like 2 other decent games, it was sabotaged by Sony moronation, forcing propietary UMD discs and memory.
And vita doubled down on that moronation.
>No, psp used a propietary memory stick bullshit that was like 5 times more expensive than an sd that did the same shit.
It really wasn't that expensive and you could easily buy non Sony Memory Sticks, because they were also used in digital cameras. Vita memory cards were only made by Sony and you could only use them in PS Vita.
Dome switch + rubber membrane d-pads appear on all sorts of Chinese handhelds these days and you can put them on a Switch joycon if you get a d-pad shell mod. Common PS Vita L
They're an extremely easy and cheap part to get ahold of, just as cheap and just as easy to get ahold of in hall-effect variant thanks to Gulikit, and a small analog stick better fits the whole "portable" idea. If you're bougie like Retroid you have your own custom analog sticks that don't look quite so Switch-y (which contrary to the tard responding you *is* a completely custom analog stick)
Speaking of chinkhelds get a Retroid Pocket 2 unless you for some very very specific reason want Vita games >PS1/PSP possible at 2X or higher resolution, God of War and other super-demanding PSP games possible at 1X >Small amount of Gamecube and PS2 possible, i.e. Wind Waker and Kingdom Hearts >3.5 inch, 640x480 screen and targeted performance means there's no reason to try and push it to work harder than it needs to with resolution upgrades >4:3 aspect ratio makes it good for literally every system it can emulate >unlike the Vita it has a fricking L2 and R2 button
Why's it always gotta be a square or a fricking rectangle with these things? Why can't I get a high-end chinkheld with the form factor of the original GBA?
The resolution is high enough even at 640x480 that it doesn't really matter even with the differing aspect ratio. Means you'll get a little bit of letterboxing while it fills the screen out.
there's been proof of chinks advertising their stuff in those threads too
I'd be more worried about the site mods that advertise their stuff in there and get super-defensive of the chinky generals.
Didn’t they make a new one of these that handles gamecube, ps2, and android gaming just fine?
Pocket 4 Pro handles pretty much anything you throw at it, yeah, it's the new budget king for chink handhelds at $200. 2S gets shilled a bunch because it more or less rendered the Pocket 3+ irrelevant being near-identical specs for less money and with magnetic sticks and triggers.
Also it's $100 and has hall effect sticks and triggers.
Why's it always gotta be a square or a fricking rectangle with these things? Why can't I get a high-end chinkheld with the form factor of the original GBA?
If I'm remembering right Powkiddy let AI design a brick handheld a long time ago and a lot of chinky devices have been iterative of that design since then. Count yourself lucky it has stacked shoulders instead of in-line shoulders. There's grips available for them if you find them uncomfortable, but Nintendo or Sony styled designs aren't popular for chinkhelds now that a bunch of them want to appear as legitimate businesses.
I do, but your picrel doesn't really look that comfortable to put in your pockets. Still pocketable but I'd rather have a gaming device that's smaller then phone+gaming grip.
I'm thankful that the Switch is keeping the Vita's spirit alive.
So True!
See picrel
>picrel
Wouldn't work anyways
>woman
duh
this again? didn't i tell you to buy man pants?
It really is perfect with it busted open. Overclocking and graphics configs just like the Vita
shame it doesnt have any vanillaware games on it.
It has 2 actually a third one coming out soon but I'd sure like Dragon's Crown on the Switch since rune touching was easiest on the Vita.
i remember when nintendies were talking shit about the vita for being a port and indie machine
I had a psp i just hated the vita because the memory was stupid expensive like really expensive.
Except the switch has games so it doesn't.
the switch most had ports, like the Vita
*mostly
I sure do remember the "Vita has no games" back in the day since the console was too Japanese.

Switch is like a Vita if it had first party support instead of getting abandoned after Freedom Wars.
Shut the frick up.
The Switch is too big and has unergonomic joystick positions.
The last console / handheld that had soul.
The revisionist history for the Vita on this board is insane. In 2013 you homosexuals were complaining about how it had no games
Because it wasn't hacked yet moron. The console is trash if you actually have to pay for the games and memory cards.
It had TN-V for ePSP hacking though
Because that was before Sony completely abandoned the console and let the weebs take over. Also before it was hacked
That's not the 'eck
>inb4 not portable
You're a fricking manlet with babyhands
can't fit in my pocket
Stop wearing women's clothing
there is not a single pocket on this earth that can fit an 'eck in it
Wrong, but you wouldnt want it to even if you were right, that would frick up the thumbsticks. It comes with a protective case. Just put that in your purse nancy.
Do you see the size of this thing?
Just wear a hoodie if youre too stubborn to bring a backpack and need it on you at a seconds notice
>just wear a hoodie or bring a backpack
nah, i just wanna put something in my pockets
>ill just ignore you posted a pic of deck with case and all in your pocket and repeat myself
It's like im talking to a woman.
because you didn't post a pocket? you posted a hoodie sleeve(which is different)
Sew one of the ends shut then you pedantic homosexual.
doing that will not make the deck any more pocketable then it already is(it isn't)
>Decksisters are pregnant
Not suprised, really.
>deckers get laid
Based.
>They are at the bottom
Hey, as long as it works.
my brother in Christ.
vita nicely fits in the jacket pocket.
you need to lug a loggage case to bring deck with you somewhere.
Deck is a "handheld"t to be used at the destination of a trip while vita is a handheld to use during a trip
>expensive memory cards

Anon, the circle pad is pure shit and everyone knows it
Because it was slippery.
can it run palworld?
It can run your mom, and let's just say all worker units will be active when she's on screen
Yes it can play pokemon emerald(The best one)
I like the switch, but the portable can't be hacked easily and I find the build quality to be much more poor than the ps-vita.
where?
everytime a "eck is portable" gay shows up just remember they try to pull out that gigantic baby tablet out of their backpack and everyone starts looking at them weirdly

I saw a dude with Deck in public and told my friend it's cringe and he looked our way.

man I need to get a bigger sd card for my vita.

BlazBlue
Shinovi Versus
there are still plenty of portable chinkhelds
The Switch Lite is not that much bigger than the Vita.
can't hack it
pocketable but sticks and triggers would cause discomfort
Yeah but the Vita looks like a quality handheld and the Switch Lite looks like a plastic kids toy
You can but it requires soldering
It's larger, that's kinda the issue
I do want one, the thing should get assfricked open in a year or so
The Vita is barely at the threshold where you can have a smartphone ride next to it in the pocket. The Switch Lite would at least need the whole space, assuming it doesn’t jut out at the top
Holy shit, the Switch looks like a McDonald's Happy Meal toy when compared to the Vita.

It has two already and one more is coming out soon.
Shame it doesn't have any GOOD vanillaware games on it though.

I know what you mean, but 13 Sentinels is kino
>I still use it to play Gundam Breaker 3.
I love the game but I wish I didn't have to tinker with VitaGrafix to get it running at a smooth 30 FPS.
Yeah, I was expecting a TRUE succesor on the Switch but it never came.
We really didn't knew how good we had it back then.
gundam games only get worse it seems
idc i'm still having fun emulating shit on my ultraportable new (relatively so at least) chinkheld
Where can I find a Vita for cheap? I’m getting a Steam Deck but that’s not really portable
eBay, in my experience local stores kinda inflate the proce
You think Amazon would work too? I’m getting a case and a MicroSD card from there
>Amazon
Overpriced, unless you are buying a 2000 but that's still pretty expensive. You can buy a 1000 off of eBay for like $140
>have a vita
>buy a backup one for when the first one breaks down

Yeah I've been living in paranoia due to vitagen spam about dying oled vitas but I have launch EU model and don't even have the spots that are always posted.
w-what spots??
When a oled screen is turned on and displays pure black you can see if your screen is degrading. It's shows up as off-black spots
the mura effect is from the factory
So I just got a lucky screen then? Thanks for the info.
That or you just haven't bothered to notice it.
That's mostly stuff you get from day 1, not something that progressively gets worse, it's a lottery if the blotches are noticeable or not.
doc.. give it to me straight.. how long does she have left?
Just wait and sell it to a collector
Psp go

vita dpad better + ratio
Why do so many of the chink handhelds use Switch analog sticks? They look ugly as frick.
chinks don't create, they just copy at a budget
They're an extremely easy and cheap part to get ahold of, just as cheap and just as easy to get ahold of in hall-effect variant thanks to Gulikit, and a small analog stick better fits the whole "portable" idea. What are the chances that a "New" unopened vita has a working battery?
>white
yikes.
I made the mistake years ago, it's yellow now.
>PS5 might put hundreds of thousands of ugly off-yellow Kaiba collars into the wild in the future
they'll go for thousands as they get branded as "retro"
What can Vita *not* emulate?
A lot. It can run some Dreamcast stuff though.
>can emulate PSO
I wonder if it's possible to play online. A Vitagay playing PSO with a bunch of Dreamcastgays.
i think most people just emulate on PC these days.
I have a stock 3DS and a Vita.
Which one emulates more stuff really.
Vita hands down
Speaking of chinkhelds get a Retroid Pocket 2 unless you for some very very specific reason want Vita games

there's been proof of chinks advertising their stuff in those threads too
Why's it always gotta be a square or a fricking rectangle with these things? Why can't I get a high-end chinkheld with the form factor of the original GBA?
>4:3 aspect ratio makes it good for literally every system it can emulate
yeah especially psp and vita with their 16:9 ratio
or gba with 3:2
The resolution is high enough even at 640x480 that it doesn't really matter even with the differing aspect ratio. Means you'll get a little bit of letterboxing while it fills the screen out.

There's a chinkoid console that has dual screens like a 3DS? I will consider one if they make a premium feeling one.
There's one company working on making a DS/3DS hardware clone to my memory.
AYANEO flip
>ayaneo flip
Thanks, not a big fan of how the second screen was implemented, but if it emulates 3DS well, I am in.
Literally the only thing keeping Chinese handhelds afloat is that Apple doesn’t allow sideloading of emulators outside the EU
Which is beyond fricking moronic
I hate it so much, but I’d rather have this than an android
I couldn’t fit that thing in my pocket and neither can you.
I fit it in my pocket daily
mhfu machine
phones can now emulate Vita and even some games on the switch....face it phones were the true handhelds all along.

You dont have pockets on your clothing? Make room for it in your wicker basket or whatever you use then.
I do, but your picrel doesn't really look that comfortable to put in your pockets. Still pocketable but I'd rather have a gaming device that's smaller then phone+gaming grip.
For me it's the Splatoon 3 Switch
Vita means life.
Why didn't he take the charger for his psp?
Because he fully intended to come home that day.
Switch has God Eater 3, truly the PSP/Vita's successor.
