BLM is always the last job I level up
it was trash at 50. Nothing is more painful than when roulette puts in a ARR raid or dungeon. Nothing is more satisfying than blasting a mob with F4 and despair though.

I disagree. BLM has always been my favorite job since ARR. The >GCD means nothing when you're just hardcasting, and you still have fire 3/lightning procs. Then you have flare and etc. Though obviously that was more fun before damage dropoff existed. No idea why the FRICK that's still there now that everyone has huge AoE bullshit.
It's simple and satisfying. Very little OGCD autism. An uncomplicated rotation. Your DoT is not just filler but a nuke proc that's consistent across ST and AOE and everything else is big chunky damage. It's great.
Not nearly as shit as Ninja in the 50s, god does that job fricking suck at 50.
Huton should never have existed as a ninjutsu.
And don't get me wrong, it is fricking easy to do max dmg at that level, it simply just sucks.

says pretty much. let your cast finish then just slam your TP to another party member, I keep a macro'ed one around and just start damaging from there. If they're also standing in bad then not my fricking problem, healer adjust.
Do that even if you're on ping. If you're gonna get hit because the cast started at the wrong moment, get hit and move after burning a swiftcast and the healer will just assume you got fricked by the server if you're so sensitive over them needing to actually do something in an instance besides mashing their 1 key.

Since the game is obviously designed for 2 melee, 1 caster and 1 ranged, the other casters are superior in every way because they are pseudo rangeds.
No one is bothering with BLM when there is no melee downtime and you can play like a moron with SMN and achieve the same results.

You basically treat your melee combos like triple cast on BLM, hold them if you don't need it for movement because you always wanna try to get a double melee combo under buffs for the most DPS, and your swift/accelerations are more for aligning OGCDs than for movement. Though honestly in this tier there wasn't all that much movement, even with Purgation you can easily just slide cast your way to your spot every. I don't get why they had to nerf Reprise the way they did, it's basically useless and almost always a DPS loss now.
Because you're forced to stay still, you're also having to play it to the wire and meticulously plan out your positioning, which becomes incredibly satisfying once you pull it off.
Waltzing around bozja's bosses was never so fun before.

The fact that I can yeet myself forwards 3 times in a row with no target, I like the entire "tempo" of the job, the dance minigame you do when you standard and tech finish, the fact that it functions closer to a caster than a melee with its procs making your rotation feel more like a flowchart rather than a strict rotation and I also think it's one of the only jobs on the game that actually fit into the currently forced 2min meta.
It being easy to be "average" can be quite relaxing aswell
I have had so much time on BLM I legit just never use DNC dashes. Every fight is designed so that you can just walk to every mechanic, dashes just feel like a crutch.

I don't care if I've done it a million times before. ShB SMN was fun because of the busy, clunky nature of the job. I loved having multiple attacks queued on my pet, unloading aetherflow to avoid overcapping, trying to avoid ghosting, etc. I loved those moments when everything collides at once and I'm throwing out like 5 or 6 attacks in the span of two gcds. There's just seems like less and less involvement with combat every rework.

I think DNC is really fun and I suppose that's not particularly controversial considering how popular this job is. It's not a complex job but it is a bit more involved than I thought before I started playing it, it wasn't as pick up and play as SMN and MCH was. Pretty chill overall but I'll probably try a different role next tier.

BRD is most fun for me and I did play BRD quite a lot before DSR made me switch to DNC. But I won't lie after playing DNC and MCH, playing BRD just feels like way more work for the same payoff as the other two jobs who need far less effort.

Whichever one you like the look most out of. You can switch later whenever you want, all jobs are available on the same character. The only real "decisive factor" is which city do you want to start in, and even that's just flavour at the end of the day.

BRD's great cause it starts off very simple and adds more things to keep track of slowly until it gets very involved at max level

Any tank or healer. They get almost instant queues, compared to DPS that can get anywhere from few minutes to a dozen or two. The role importance in the game is also kind of weird: if tanks or healers die it's often a game over for the group, so it feels like you're contributing to the party in all content despite them being simpler to play overall, aside from some role-specific mechanics. Meanwhile DPS have much more complex rotations and require higher APM, however only a mere handful of mandatory content has battles where damage is actually important to avoiding a wipe, so dying and fricking up constantly isn't an issue most of the time and you're the one to get resurrected last - until you get to optional max level post-game with extremely stringent time limits where DPS players actually have to know what they're doing. In any case, DPS player are usually the red shirts of parties.
However you can ultimately pick whatever you want. The later unlocked classes that you can't pick at game start also start at higher level, so if one role isn't doing it for you, you can just switch later on. It's also relatively easy to level two jobs at the same time if you keep constantly switching between them as you go along the main quest and do your daily roulettes.

BLM isn't really less mobile than the other jobs at this point, the appeal is that it does it in an engaging and unique way with its skillset (which in its entirety is quite different from how most jobs are built in many ways and lends itself to a unique rotation). Aetherial Manipulation only has a few carbon copy skills on other jobs as of Endwalker (Sage and Monk have their teleport flavors), Between the Lines is a cool interaction with a placeable area-of-effect self-buff, and Triplecast can momentarily let you ignore caster movement restrictions if you put off using it for mere damage optimisation.

I always thought people really overstated the difficulty of BLM. Sure you have to put a bit of thought into any prolonged movement, but between slidecasting, swiftcast, triplecast, your teleport, and all the instacasts you can pull out of your ass at any moment you can pretty much just wing it for a lot of fights.
This. Back in HW, yeah, BLM was a real turrent but now BLM is just the Wario kid of XIV.
Back when ARR was the only thing, it actually was pretty fun playing BLM in current content. Abusing slidecasts with high spellspeed with a 2.5s cast spell, you got more firestarter and thundercloud procs in general (thundercloud was not saved because it was your highest damage move), manawall, apocatastasis, raging strikes, good times. I feel like the design of it got kind of lost after all the changes afterwards, what you see at level 50 right now isn't really the level 50 BLM that existed in 2.3-2.5, even though the core rotation is still there.
I sometimes forget that there is an entire Final Fantasy Tactics raid in this game.

Hm, I guess it's part seeing me low on the aggro list and part that the job has barely changed since I started it, I do the same few actions on loop and the only thing that really changed was me getting one extra move at the end of my melee combo. My friends also main classes like DRG and SAM and I know they're doing miles more damage than I am.
I love the look and flair of red mage, and the movement as well as being able to revive people, it's the perfect job for me, but it's also really simple and not worthwhile over other classes when everyone already knows what they're doing, or in content where you can't revive people.

It's things like triplecast & xeno that open the job up to being fun. Before that you have some procs that can be used for movement but outside of thunder you ain't doing shit with em.
Other than that, the fun comes from reducing your use of using triplecast etc or optimising. And you can optimise on other jobs too, if you're getting your fun from that then yeah you're only having fun because of 1 limitation and it's a limitation that disappears at 80/90.

Y'shtola is 32 at the very least. She was 17 when she left Matoya's cave. She then became an Archon and joined the Circle of Knowing, leaving for Eorzea with Louisoix 15 years ago. If we're very generous and say she earned her Archon title and joined the Circle within a year, she'd be 32.

I played this game for free on trial because it's an unlimited time trial. When I got to the point where I was supposed to start getting cross-class skills, I got concerned when I didn't get any. When I found out they were removed entirely, I lost interest.
