The Legend of Dragoon is a dismal and dreary game, full of tedious and trite tropes, that fails to captivate or inspire the player. The plot is a convoluted and contrived mess, with characters that are bland and boring, and dialogue that is dull and dry. The gameplay is a monotonous and mechanical affair, with combat that is repetitive and unoriginal, and exploration that is limited and linear. The graphics are a crude and coarse attempt at realism, with environments that are bland and blurry, and animations that are stiff and unnatural. The sound is a harsh and hollow noise, with music that is generic and forgettable, and voice acting that is grating and annoying. The Legend of Dragoon is a game that should be avoided by all lovers of literature and art, for it is a mockery and a travesty of both. It is a game that has no merit or value, no beauty or grace, no soul or spirit. It is a game that belongs in the dustbin of history, along with the other works of mediocrity and vulgarity.

What they have done to this game is nothing short of a crime, a violation of the original spirit and tone of the work, a mockery of the art and craft of translation.

Working Designs has taken the liberty to alter the script, the names, the jokes, and even the gameplay of Albert Odyssey, without any regard for the author’s intention or the audience’s expectation. They have inserted their own brand of humor, which is often vulgar, childish, and anachronistic, into a game that was meant to be serious, mature, and immersive. They have changed the characters’ personalities, motivations, and relationships, making them inconsistent, illogical, and unlikable. They have added unnecessary difficulty, glitches, and bugs, making the game frustrating, tedious, and unstable.

The result is a game that is neither faithful to the original nor enjoyable on its own terms. It is a game that has lost its identity, its charm, and its appeal. It is a game that deserves to be buried in the depths of oblivion, never to be seen or played again.

This is my opinion of Working Designs’ localization of Albert Odyssey. I hope you will agree with me that it is a travesty of translation, a horror of localization, and a disgrace to the Saturn library.

I've just started playing it, and the only problem I have with it is that everything is hella slow. Loading, attacking, casting magic, going into the menu . Slow.

(Why did they even make a piece of music for the menu anyway? It just creates unecessary loading)

Dragoon is an example of a game that was rightfully disregarded as mediocre on release but gained a cult following from moronic zoomers who never played a JRPG and saw it listed on a hidden gems article.

But homosexual, it got a 5 star rating upon release.

I recall most of the magazines here in Brazil gave it 8 or 9/10 back in 2000. The main complaints were "they look like Power Rangers" and "the battles are too slow".

        Pretty much.
People either like it because it was babbys first (J)RPG or people don't like it because they played other (J)RPG before it.

I was the former and know it's flaws very well (slow paced story/battle, engrish localization, unbalanced/grindy combat, cardboard cut-out characters) yet despite that, it'll forever look at it with nostalgia googles.

I'm playing the original unadulterated japanese version on my android without being able to understand moonrunes and holy frick additions are so much worse with touch screens but mastering it is so satisfying especially since it's harder than international releases.

Currently on disc 4 and going around killing all the optional bosses before Faust, I'm having a grand ol' time.

It's not fantastic on its own merits but it's decent enough, and it's the best Power Rangers RPG you're going to find.

I frickin’ hate it when a crew gets compared to homosexual ass Power Rangers because of muh colorful ass kickin group of people.

it's a colorful ass kicking group of people that turns into colorful ass kicking superpowered versions of themselves, so it counts
I could have called it a 'henshin RPG' but 'power rangers' is more recognizable and thus a quicker, more efficient way to communicate the idea
