DON'T FRICK THIS UP LIKE THE SPM SURVEY.
Yeah, not putting that in my address bar.
Oops, I posted the wrong one.
THIS is the real link.

done. Thanks anon. Let's hope Nintendo picks this up and make more games like this,
>it's real
Post this everywhere. Get this going!
i aint clicking that shit homie
no one asked you, meg.
*SIGH*
Thanks anon, did it already.
Screenshotted the full survey in case anyone just wanted to view the questions and not participate.
is this what noa surveys look like? noe always asks me how many people play on my switch and if I bought my switch specifically to play the game
The link address did say it was NoA when I was doing it and took those screenshots so I'd assume so. I haven't done a Nintendo survey since Club Nintendo so I don't know how it works anymore.
>list of consoles goes back to the PS3/360
>includes 3DS
>doesn't include Wii U
But Switch is totally the handheld successor and not a home console, guys.
I doubt Nintendo will ever acknowledge the Wii U again outside of rereleases
Filled out both.
>rawk hawk but purple
which one is the real one?
The second one, it redirects you to a personal version of the first one. It'll look like this for you after clicking it:
and it's legit? i hate that the first few posts made me question this
Great, I can bot both surveys now and render them useless.
why would you do that?
Why not? If morons really think their headcanon games depend on a few questions on a survey, let's see what happens when the answers are a mess for the lulz. After all the Mario RPGs are tertiary spin-offs of a bigger series whose existence doesn't depend on them.
Hilarious, anon. Love it.
>I'm going to potentially ruin any chance for a true sequel to paper mario... for the LULZ!!
You deserve to be brained by a sledgehammer until all that's left is a red stain
>ruin any chance for a true sequel to paper mario
Nothing of value was lost.
>resolves to "tendoofamerica"
Lmfao. Fricking moronic Ganker Black folk
>which of these character designs do you really like?
all of them
>which of these are you most excited for in the paper mario ttyd remake?
battle mechanics
I did my part
That's a lot of dolphins.
Well yes it's the Gamecube
What answers would probably incentivize them to make actually good Paper Mario games?
That you're a big gamer, like the Paper Mario series but only played 64, TTYD, SPM and not the others.
>lumping SPM with TTYD and 64
You are the problem
Tell them you bought Super Mario RPG but not Origami King.
On the question of which Paper Mario’s you’ve played make the last one either Super or Sticker Star to make it clear that the direction change was a problem.
Done
That's what I did, I want them to know I hated sticker star and won't buy the series as long as it's the same. Using the OTHER box to fill out a paragraph of your frustration with the series and why you'll buy TTYD is another good one.
I told them I skipped everything after Super and that half my willingness to buy the remake was in showing I wanted a return to form.
Exactly what I did. And when selecting what I like about TTYD in the other section I said 'Sticker Star to Origami King was a mistake.' Hopefully they finally stop sucking off miyamoto and do what the fans want
>"Select up to three favorite video game genres from the list below"
RPG
>"Which of the below videogames have you played on the Switch"
anything but Origami King
>"Which of the below video games have you played before"
every Paper Mario game except for Color Splash and Origami King because Sticker Star sucked
>"Pick 5 reasons that make you interested in TTYD"
pick 4 options and use "Other, Please specify" to shit on Sticker Star and its sequels, and that TTYD is the proper turn-based rpg you want
>"Pick the reason that makes you MOST interested in TTYD"
Other, Please specify: [shit on Sticker Star and its sequels and praise TTYD again]
Thanks OP. You aren’t a homosexual today.
I love Goombella
>Horizon Zero Dawn
>RPG
I'm done
So realistically this is just one guy's survey link and every response is just it being overwritten, right? That's the bare minimum you could do to prevent anything like this happening.
Explicitly told them I was anticipating the return of pre-SS/SPM Paper Mario.
Thank you, OP.
Just filled it out, thanks OP. Hopefully this helps Nintendo see how much people like the old Paper Mario games.
I should mention that I got this link from the fobidden R*ddit (when you're desparate for PM news, you'd scour everywhere) and the OP had this to say:
>I can’t say for certain that it counted twice, because I don’t know if the survey is tied to the email or to the Nintendo account, I suppose it’s possible that my answers overrode his, but it’s also possible both were counted. Just thought it was interesting and worth a shot if others wanted to try it!
Just something to keep in mind.
Never mind, OP's back to being a homosexual.
>I suppose it’s possible that my answers overrode his
>thousands of people are just doing pic related to one guy
Only selected Vivian, what about you?
I selected everyone except Flurrie and Yoshi Kid.
wtf? Are you me?
I’m worried about the repercussions of showing pro-Vivian sentiment. Who knows how some of the homosexuals who do ESG or Marketing may try to twist that support.
I agree but my waifu wasn't in the poll
>not picking them all
cringe
I wrote out that sticker star was the worst mario game I've ever played and I haven't bought a paper mario since, and will continue to not invest so long as it's not a return to form. I especially pointed out a big part of my frustration with Sticker was the beta images that showed a traditional paper mario for 3ds. WE WERE SO! CLOSE!
Goombella because cute, Bobbery because cool
Selected all but Grodus.
I picked all the characters based on actual Mario species and Rawk Hawk. The rest can frick off, especially the purple blobs.
Everybody but Flurry, never used her in combat and I usually like bawds but she's a little much for me
It's not the survey people were posting about a bit ago but it's at least something.
i don't know when exactly, but at some point in the last two years i downloaded an exe named something like paper mario ttyd exe. i never opened it, but i was scanning all my shit this week and it came up as generic malware.
Well Ganker?
No Live A Live
Why is Etrian Odyssey on there twice for you?
Its THAT good.
>Its THAT good.
>doesn't have pure sex shinomashira
>pure sex shinomashira game isn't in the poll
please explain
Refrain and Galleria are both dogshit.
Overrated garbage hyped by snoys that don't have anything else to play.
You should really play Live a Live
The only series on that list I haven't played, is pokemon mystery dungeon.
Which is kinda odd since I love the Shiren series, I just never got around to playing it I guess.
If you appreciate Shiren's gameplay you might hate Pokemon MD tbf those are only good if you like the characters and their interactions
I haven't gotten around to Triangle Strategy yet, but it's higher on my backlog.
How can somebody like both Etrian Odyssey and Etrian Odyssey?
>Etrian Odyssey
I just watched the trailer, the art style is really ugly. Gameplay does not seem to be to my taste either. Overall, it looks about like the average basic b***h RPGmaker game I try out for 2 minutes then never touch again.
>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
The only Pokemon spin-off I will ever care about is Pokepark.
>Triangle Strategy
>Live a Live
>Octopath Traveler
Of all the great RPGs out there, why in the absolute frick would I waste my time and money on pixelshit? I'm not a boomer, so these games have zero appeal to me.
>Castlevania
Games designed around the "make this game take 1000 hours to master to get people to spend their life savings in quarters at an arcade" philosophy are garbage.
I've played the rest.
Thanks for exposing your absolute shit taste so I can make fun of you
tell me you're a zoomer without telling me you're a zoomer
>finally see another Pokepark fan
>but it has simply awful taste
sigh
Different anon. We can both agree the second game is a straight upgrade, right? Little too much focus on Gen V in particular and the four minigames feel out of place with the different direction, but everything else felt better to me.
PokePark 2 was a great improvement over the first, absolutely.
Unova's whole deal was focusing on it's own new mons, so it's sort of par or the course. I do admit I can't remember a single plot relevant non-Unovan mon (besides Pikachu, Piplup, and Darkrai) so maybe they went a bit overboard with it.
I remember liking the shooting attraction and the dojo one
I do at least like Unova's line-up, so it wasn't a detrimental issue to me. Just weird in hindsight considering the first game had a pretty even spread all around from what I remember. Even Pikachu's close friend group took the time to pick a starter from each generation at the time, compared to the three in the next game just being all three Unova starters no matter how well they were executed there.
Need... pokepark hubworld game with poke mystery dungeon dungeons....
Castlevania stopped being like that in like 1991
what are they planning?
Really, they just want to see demographic overlap here. There's a common point about a lot of people outside Japan only really playing the Mario RPGs and Pokémon in terms of JRPGs, so might as well see what the overlap is here.
Is this something given out to a select few or something anyone with a MyNintendo account can do?
It's been a while since I looked at it but I do have an account
A select few with a MyNintendo account.
And what is the point of such survey?
Tell let Nintendo that Tanabe’s a moron and giving him three chances to remake Paper Mario into what he wanted it to be was a mistake. But, y’know phrased politely so you don’t get written off as a troll.
To gauge interest for future Paper Mario titles in the style of the first two
Nintendo will make official porn of whichever character gets the most votes.
Nintendo is incredibly insular and surveys are the only way to communicate with them.
Nintendo is fully aware that people don't like Sticker Mario, this survey means jackshit when they'll either continue Paper Mario or make a fourth Sticker Star game, and they have made more Sticker Star games than they have Paper Mario games in the style of the original game.
Giving people false hope over something that has no bearing on what Nintendo actually wants to do with Paper Mario.
Colour Spash is one of the few core Wii-U games not to get a Switch port and NoA desperately tried to convince us Origami King was like the classics before they announced a TTYD remake. Sticker shit is done even if they don't go back to the old formula.
Exactly. But I feel Sticker Star HD is right around the corner, just to see if people will bite. TTYD will succeed, but Sticker Star HD will 'succeed', if you get where I'm going with this.
I don't think Nintendo would dare rerelease a game that was panned by pretty much everyone but critics
Not only would it be bad for business (especially considering everyone KNOWS how bad SS is) but it'd just be bad optics
I don't think Nintendo is that invested in Sticker Star's formula. More than anything it feels like those games were just Tanabe's pet project he was trying to force.
Nintendo thinks they are only allowed one RPG series at a time, having both paper mario and mario & luigi games was sacrelidge, but with M&L falling off they may give paper another shot.
That's such a moronic mindset. By that logic, they shouldn't have released those new Mario Golf and Mario Strikers games since Mario Tennis was already a sports game on the Switch.
>And what is the point of such survey?
Well, the responses to the Super Paper Mario survey in the late 2000s basically murdered the entire franchise, so...
Because hire ups are moron that will only listen only if you sound scientific
so in the next meeting some guy will show up with that "according to our survey "bullshit so that their voices can be heard
Did you know the last time they listened to people's opinions on a survey with this specific franchise it went to shit?
I told them I'd immediately buy the remake if it got a performance patch for "future hardware" to restore 60 FPS.
Filled it out, I wonder if the Paper Mario fanbase will bot spam surveys.
i feel like we should a bit as a precaution
but thats because i dont want any more games like sticker shit
thats what im saying
the 2nd part only not the 1st
color splash was worse then sticker shit
only real improvement was no kersti
Gonna vote for Flurrie because no one else will.
Also when is the last time we saw anything similar in a Mario game since Pauline and the Lochlady?
I tell ya, I have felt this unified with you homosexuals in a long time. May we soon get the next installment we so longed for.
Didnt the last survey convince them to make the games generic
Yes, which is why I said to not frick it up like the SPM survey.
i just think it's going to be really funny how hard the sales for this remake are going to eclipse the last few games
and everybody that ever defended sticker shit in the first place spot is going to get BTFO too
Pretty sure Super Mario RPG remake already eclipsed Origami King in sales, despite the former coming out in the twilight years of the console and the latter coming out in the prime.
Nah, Super Mario RPG is just over 3 million and Origami King is 3.5 million
That was in Dec '23 and Origami King had a huge dip afte a couple weeks. SRMPG has almost certainly passed it by now.
My man, nothing has suggested Super Mario RPG has had those kinds of legs. It's definitely tracking a little ahead of Origami King launch, but it hasn't eclipsed it. No need to make stuff up.
We have sales data for Origami King that spans years (3.47M), while we know that Mario RPG sold 3.14M units from mid-November until Dec 31, 2023. Assuming that Mario RPG will eventually pass Origami King is a logical conclusion.
I'm not disagreeing with you that it might pass Origami King eventually. After its first holiday Origami King was 3.04m whereas RPG was 3.14m. We can see the drop off of sales in the Famitsu thread. Forum fan games like Metroid Dread, Bayonetta, Paper Mario, etc all have huge upfront sales and then varying degrees of legs. But there no way RPG has already eclipsed OK
>everybody that ever defended sticker shit
People defended it? As what, a sleep aid?
Some fanboys are really heavy Kool-Aid drinkers. “It’s good because the leader said so” mentality.
The only Kool-Aid that Sticker Star can be compared to was the stuff they served at Jonestown
Yes anon, that’s generally what that turn of phrase means…
NTA, but I never made that connection until your reply, it actually makes a lot more sense now
Remember Cody?
it's mostly just people that were little kids when it came out and grew up with it who now feel the need to defend it as "misunderstood"
I just find it interesting because apologists use the argument that SS is disliked because it is "different", but Super Paper Mario was different than the original formula too. I prefer the traditional PM gameplay, but I would not call it a "bad" game.
Sticker Star, on the other hand, is actual slop.
Man I just want a NEW Paper Mario game that's even better than TTYD and expands upon the battle system as well as other shit like evolving badges like the way pins upgrade in TWEWY and your partners have their own sidequest lines that grant them stat bonuses, new moves and even unique badges. Then segments with Peach, Luigi and Bowser that also have their own mini campaigns with their own battle system and party members. Oh and a shitload of post game content with a secret true final boss fight and new game plus mode.
Is that too hard to ask for Nintendo?
>Is that too hard to ask for Nintendo?
Considering what Nintendo's been churning out, yes.
Imagine if we had a duplighost partner that could turn into any enemy (s)he scans.
That's a fun idea story/character-wise but it wouldn't really work gameplay-wise due to being too situational and having to program so many other copies of so many enemies and NPCs. It reminds me a bit of the parasol from PM64 also.
Even then, there were limitations to that since the only enemies she could've used them on were Koopatrols and Spike Clubs.
I disagree. Sprigg could do it in Chrono Cross.
It is a really difficult mechanic to balance...but caring about balance in a single player RPG is overrated, anyway.
Poo in Earthbound could do it too, albeit without visuals, but that would be the easy part. The point is, playable mimics have been a thing in RPGs for decades.
Told them I wouldn't be interested in buying the game as I think visually it's a downgrade to the original, and that I would play a new Paper Mario game that followed in the footsteps of 64, TTYD and Super (directed by Kawade).
Remember the days leading up to Sticker Star and we saw what looked like a Chomp companion? Or was that Color Splash? Things could have been so cool.
>Suddenly remember the Origami King trailers showing what clearly looked like partners
Fricking snake oil salesmen
Intentionally framing shit to look like the old games and just lying about it is bullshit
>Chomp companion
That was SS.
Yes I do remember that, I remember finding it weird the Chomp partner was so plain looking.
It was an omen. We were just too naive to see it
I think about it often.
I hope this gets leaked someday...
I do also but we still don't even have the full 2010 trailer that the webm shows, only this snippet.
The animation for Mario controlling the Chain Chomp is still in the game even.
There were already concerning signs from the earlier build. You can still see stickers being used and the world was still generic outside that one playing card area, which itself was pretty flat. If the whole game was shaping up like this, can’t even blame Miyamoto for telling them to change it up. Sticker Star was fricked early on and I wish we could get its full development story.
If Nintendo figure out the surveys results are being stuffed they'll throw the whole thing out you fricking idiot.
Getting more opinions from actual gamers who have played the entire Paper Mario series since its creation isn't stuffing the box lol
It kinda is. These surveys are sent to a select few for a good reason: to get as much of an unbiased response as possible. If a bunch of Paper Mario fanboys flood the survey up, it'll be skewed in their favor and Nintendo will notice something fishy.
Nintendo is obviously going to notice the same link being used multiple times. Anyone filling it in is a complete moron.
I said I've played every paper mario but the first two and that I don't want to purchase the game
Slit your throat, mandate defender
I told them Toad is my favourite Mario character and if there's enough Toads in the next game I'll order 26 million copies to distribute as the official game of the Democratic People's Republic.
Is that what the purple toad does? Seems like kind of a letdown if you ask me.
>There's still SPM apologists out there
SPM began the decline of Paper Mario, NOT SS. "B-but muh story! Muh edge!". Shut the frick up. The gameplay is what matters and the gameplay sucked ass.
>only mentioning the gameplay
The OST was abysmal synth garbage.
The art direction was crap.
The world design was crap.
The writing was too paper-related.
It was the beginning of the end.
I'm fine with experimenting, the game was fine to me but the best part was they never went back to that formula.
Sticker star went back to a turn based RPG and ruined everything that made it fun and special then while encroaching on the handheld scene then they thought that dogshit was so good they decided to base the rest of the series off of it.
SPM might be where it turned but SS made sure it stayed in the gutter
Based and true
Super Paper Mario gays should kill themselves for liking such platformer-dysphoric garbage that is no doubt influenced by the dogshit spawn of the Nu Super Mario Bros. series
Everyone knew that SPM was an experimental side project.
Meanwhile SS was a complete and abject failure but Tanabe keeps insisting that REAL SS hasn't been tried yet so he will keep doing the same thing until he finally gets validation.
I actually think the sticker star formula could be amazing, but they kept fumbling it. Color Splash was actually worse and slower than sticker star
Stickers would make way more sense as an equivalent of a star meter, maybe having them be consumable per battle so you always have access to them after you unlock them.
The core gameplay doesn't need fricking durability.
I always wanted them to have a mechanic with money where you could fix buildings, bridges and help people recover from whatever bowser or the new villain has destroyed. Which could unlock bonus areas, item unlocks, quests etc. They could've ditched exp and made money an all encompassing tool where you could even buy stat upgrades from the shop. I love origami king, but I still hated that it only kinda played with this idea, like bartering with the monty mole or buying a ticket to shogun studios.
>Everyone knew that SPM was an experimental side project.
I can't tell if it is or not still, the fact it was only going to be released 2-3 years after TTYD and for GameCube originally implies that to be the case but Kawade and Tanabe made it sound like otherwise to me in the Nintendo Power interview.
As a one off, SPM was fine. I wouldn't have wanted more PM games like it, but there weren't any, so whatever. With SPM they tried something, realized that it wasn't a very good idea, and dropped it. Sticker Star fell flat on its face and they still kept trying over and over again, expecting different results.
I hope all of you morons posed as normies that liked the OCs, nintendo is looking at that compared to homosexual fans whole like that shit.
>nintendo is looking at that compared to homosexual fans whole like that shit.
Yes
Today
I will remind them
Remind them of this moron shit existing
HAHAHAHAHA
This is why I always liked Mario and Luigi more. Felt more mario and less like autistic fanfiction. Like what the frick is that. Origami King and Paper Mario 64 are the only ones that feel like mario. Why does paper mario attract mega autism
Mario and Luigi were batshit insane in terms of story premise, probably morse than Paper Mario ever was
Never felt that way to me. Maybe it's because you only always had Mario and Luigi, so there was no room for OCs to butt in other than to be bosses. Bean Bean Kingdom is weird yeah, but what about Mario Land, Land 2, Odyssey, Etc etc. Mario has weird shit all the time, wasn't til the 2010s when he became cocomelon for 7 years.
Nah, Super Paper Mario's plot went completely off the rails to the point you could describe things that happened without context and it wouldn't even sound like a Mario or a Nintendo game and more like some extremely autistic tryhard JRPG plot
Down to Dimentio "killing" the heroes and sending them to the underworld to stuff like the Sammer Kingdom and all of its inhabitants being erased/basically killed off.
Yes, that's why i like it. Because it's unique and it stands out.
You now just remember just how fricked Luvbi's entire situation was
imagine how good super paper mario would have been if it had actual character designs to go along with its story that weren't just weird shapes
I kind of like the original designs, but for me the issue is that there's a very clear line between them and the classic Mario designs. If the game had even half a dozen unique character styles to emphasize the dimension hopping it would work, but instead it's mostly direct deviations off two art styles clashing repeatedly.
As far as original enemies go, Super Paper Mario certainly had the worst ones. This probably made more players want to see the series take on more traditional elements after playing that game.
Super Paper Mario is such a direction transition between TTYD and Sticker Star, and it's goofy how people ignore that. A lot of decisions either led into ones later implemented into the latter game or led to overcorrections. For one, think about how many unique mainline Mario species designs were even in SPM. You got those soccer Koopas, and what else? The only Toad in the game is the most basic design you could get. Add on the shift to more meta and super quirky in SPM after a few jokes in TTYD, which while funny can easily be tied to the "everything is paper" jokes you saw a lot in Sticker Star. The biggest difference in SPM was that a lot of jokes were about it being a video game instead. There's also some of the gameplay in that game, between the painfully simple combat and some more questionable level design decisions.
SPM makes infinitely more sense when you remember it started life as a spinoff destined for a late Gamecube release, and instead got shunted into an early Wii title. They were caught between the game they were trying to make and the game they now had to make.
I love each, no matter what anyone says.
If you didn't at least appreciate what Super Paper Mario was going for you deserve the Sticker Star trilogy.
I can appreciate it sure but it by the time SPM came out many fans wanted to see the inclusion of characters and elements from some of the latest games. After the Galaxy games I wanted to see the Whittles and Lumas as NPCs or Enemies like Topmen or Octoombas as potential partners.
Well, to be fair, what super was going for was just about as bad as the sticker star trilogy so no real loss there
>if it had actual character designs to go along with its story that weren't just weird shapes
I like that, though. It's distinctive and gives SPM an identity of its own.
That was probably my biggest issue with Super Paper Mario at the time. That was when for me at least, the Paper Mario Worlds started to feel more fake.
what the frick is this shit
>shygal
oh so it's fake, good4tjhg
step aside
Hope you enjoy rabbids, that's what you'd get if you did that
But the Mario + Rabbids games are great.
I hope the next game takes everything from origami king and slaps a good version of TTYDs battle system in there
Origami King with TTYD's combat/progression systems, actual named partners, and unique NPCs would have been a really good game.
May I interest you in some kino?
?si=ii_HKeulCGV9vfzI
Well, I am definitely giving that a try
Looks cool, but it doesn't appear to change TOK's shitty battle mechanics. Still, it's quite impressive.
Looks cute, but you're basically putting a bandaid over a gunshot wound.
>battle mechanics still suck
>bosses are still literal office supplies
>the villain still turns into Hitler because he can't read
doesn't fix the awful battle system, I wish the game was full action tbh
I hope they don't go full moron with the difficulty like the PM64 Master Quest devs. That game has an unbelievable erection for status effects where half of the enemies can stunlock you with a single successful attack.
Just play Master Quest Jr. It's difficult, but way less of the bullshit
I'm personally still waiting for Wish Upon Abyys even though it's probably a never ever
Jr has the same issue. It's generally an upgrade but far too many enemies have access to strong status moves like shrink and stun when a flat stat boost would already have gotten the job done. I dropped the game at the Toy Box mini boss because it was such a ridiculous difficulty spike, requiring you to pretty much play perfectly because a single successful attack was enough to end the fight.
Even if it fixed the battles, the story and writing would still be shit
Sent
I'm really excited to hear the full version of the rearranged battle theme. Just hearing it kick off with the classic Mario leitmotif is already hype as hell
I always hated how moronic this theme sounded, but It might be my favorite since it has that energy that the origami king battle theme has. Sounds like it should actually be a battle theme.
I cant wait to hear this in the remake
?si=Onv6OGozqhEqZO-9
>Below you see some characters that appear in Paper Mario™: The Thousand-Year Door. Which of these do you like a lot?
I understand the party members, Grodus, Rawk Hawk, and Crump being on there, but why Hooktail?
>inb4 feet
A fetish is not an answer, and there are more prominent characters like the Shadow Sirens, Flavio, Pennington, Doopliss (him not being on there is understandable since his name is technically a spoiler), T.E.C., Cortez, or even Don Pianta. Being the first chapter boss is not a reason to be considered on the same tier as the rest of the characters on the survey.
feet
Hooktail was in a lot of the early promotions for the OG '04 release, especially since a dragon too big for the battle stage makes for a great impression, so he's probably one of the bigger "minor" characters as far as Nintendo sees it.
>he
My mistake, yeah. Let's not do the whole pronouns thing it's a long way to the end of May.
Basically everyone mistook Hooktail for a guy until they actually play the pit of trials.
You mean the Palace of Shadow. It's Gloomtail who tells you Hooktail is his sister. Bonetail has autism and just says "RRRRAAAARRRGGHH"
You're right, its been a while since I did my last run so I mixed the two up.
Hooktail is just a visual standout. I recall she was big in the original advertising for TTYD back in 2004.
being a minor antagonist that's not stationery makes hooktail pretty likable.
Hooktail is memorable for being the first boss and was prominently featured on the cover of the game outside of Japan.
It’s likely based on the characters that have stock art since Hooktail and Rawk Hawk were on official art. Not that I’m complaining, I want more of the RAWK
>Ganker uniting for the common good
Very heartwarming
lol lmao
7
ya llegan los retrasados
bump
Should Bonetail have eyes or no eyes?
>eyes for a skeleton
If they're ectoplasmic or just ghostly light, then sure.
None. I'd rather not have memes comparing him to You-Know-Who.
inb4 the reveal Nintendo got Toby Fox to do a Bonetail boss fight theme for the remake
inb4 upon his defeat he leaves a cryptic message that reveals when Chp 3/4 are supposed to drop this year
I love undertale references
Well?
It's kind of weird that Mario characters are hot. I won't complain about sweaty koopa breasts though.
Please tell me you have a source
https://paperbooru.booru.org/
Thanks brother
God, I miss Ganker‘s paper mario oc threads, those were fun as shit. Tried redrawing some of my little ocs real quick.
They were very kino indeed. I remember requesting these fellas
>that bun
Oh my.
Thanks
>check this booru out
>remember the oc threads
>remember I drew fanart of some OCs
>search them up
>not only did I do more fanart than I remember, I also drew porn
I appreciate people's efforts to back up original stuff made here because even I frickin' forgot about these, without this booru they would've been lost to time.
Arlo won
I fricking hate that overdramatic puppet Black person.
t. Nu Paper Mario Zoomer
I don't care what the puppet's specific opinions are.
I know, I knew long before I ever heard of that sesame street reject, where I stood on this fricking franchise.
The original was good. TTYD expanded on the original's mechanics and was a bit of a step back in map design. SPM was a spinoff turned "main game" at Nintendo's insistence. Sticker Star was Tanabe taking a mild comment from Miyamoto and using it as an excuse to be a lazy homosexual, Color Splash was him doubling down, Origami King was him tripling down while mocking the people who told him he was being a lazy homosexual.
>he's played more than 3 rpgs

Is it just me or did a lot of the writing in Origami King feel spiteful?
Considering how original fans were vocal over the changes since SPM (actually especially starting with SS), I'm sure he's aware of it but not going to bend the knee since normies are still going to buy them.
I've never played TOK. Can you list some examples?
The main villain wanted to genocide Toads because “when you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all.” They literally made the big bad a strawman of the fans’ complaints about generic Toads.
Your first proper partner is a bob-omb without a fuse. His entire character arc is "I wish I was special (in a useful way)" - "I finally get to be special?" - "Well, I have to die, but at least I got to be special". Fairly simple, right? Except that the game goes right back to making mocking "yeah, every member of a species looks identical" jokes, including USING BOB-OMBS AS LIVE AMMUNITION, soon after.
Oh right, this all came after the marketing hyping him up as the face of "the return of partners"- emphasis on the quotes since it fricking wasn't.
If you cannot detect the spite practically dripping off of the way this alone was written, I don't know what to tell you.
It's extra ridiculous, because most of Mario's partners in the first two games really aren't special in of themselves. In the first game you've got a fanboy, a random Joe, a random Jill, the mailman, a nanny, and a baby. The most "special" party members are the aristocratic boo and the turncoat lakitu. What makes them special is simply that they stepped up.
I know that the partners each have their arc during the chapter that they're introduced but I wish they would have some sort of relevance beyond their dedicated time to shine before being relegated to being Mario's mouthpiece since the man is a damn mute.
Vivian is probably the most prolific positive example due to the entire premise of the shadow sirens. But itd be hard to do otherwise unless you have everyone jump out of Mario's pocket every time there's a relevant conversation.
The credits show that they can have multiple partners out during cutscenes. Just make the more prominent cutscenes begin with a fade from black or a clever cut away from Mario to then have the entire party out or just whoever would speak or do something in that scene. Smaller scenes like talking to the Mayor could still exist where only the active partner say something.
You don't need to have EVERYONE pop out. Just the relevant party members to whatever is going on in the plot. Then you can have whoever you've currently got out chime in extra, like the current system. And then, you can save the crowd shots for the BIG moments, like the final boss and whatnot.
NTA but it feels TOK is trying its best to never take itself seriously and it's egregious.
Original PM is never coming back until Kawade comes back
people really need to look at the artists involved behind these things, you really can't will a "paper mario just like the old ones" unless the same people with the same inspirations work on it
That's part of what remakes are for, to get the newer guard used to the old design and way of doing things
And this remake seems to miss a lot of artistic touches of the original. I don't tend to like remakes unless they're pretty much just a "corrected" version by the same people who made the original. There's always going to be a loss of artistic integrity with each new "interpretation' you make of something, especially as the teams differ. And TTYD's remake seems to adapt more of Origami King's paper mache style than it does of the original pop-up comic book look of TTYD. Doesn't help that it's 30FPS either, as an aside.
>Original PM is never coming back until Kawade comes back
Kawade is never coming back because he never really wanted to be the director in the first place.
Obviously why he took the first opportunity to jump ship to the Fire Emblem TCG.
We should then accept that the Paper Mario people know and love was a happy accident, a serendipitous occasion, and it won't be coming back. It was lightning in a bottle made by a guy whose true passion wasn't even making games like it. It may just be a finished series, akin to something like Mother, and to want more is missing the point.
We truly did not deserve Kawade.
This won't do shit. Anything else is copium.
>This won't do shit
The survey existing shows they're at least somewhat aware of what people want
They sent one out before revealing the SMRPG remake
hello, redditgays!
KILL ALL PAPER MARIO homosexualS
OH FRICK Ganker LIKES OLD PAPER MARIO GAMES IT'S ALL OVER
the Ganker hackers are going to delete the remake so no one gets to play it but them...
Hi plebbit!
Vivian is biologically female, sry reddittroons! you will never be woman too!
lol, at worst they'll just filter out responses coming from this particular ID in their dashboard.
Wow, that’s me! I’m famous!
I'm trans btw
Given how much Reddit steals our memes they can eat shit for all I care.
>reddit just gonna blame Ganker as always
Oh well. If they choose to ignore this survey, it won't be because of us.
>make sure you voice your opinion if you want to see more return to form paper mario games and share the link!
>NOOOOO WAIT NOT LIKE THAT!!!
If he thought that overwriting the same entry and ballot stuffing could be problems, then why did he post it?
The poster here is different from the one who made the OP post
Is everyone looking forward to the Mario adventure?
Based, thank you OP I answered. I picked "I like the battle system" "I like the characters" and "I enjoyed playing it on the gamecube" as my choices
Sorry but all of those are the wrong answers
Which one looks best?
either far left or far right. I don't like the white outlines too much.
Thanks for the survey.
Far Left.
far left, wtf did they do to his nose
Far right, looks the most like a paper cutout.
Far left
The white outline on Mario is so stupid
The 64 sprite is still the best.
Far left, and not just because of the lack of white outlines: I like his facial proportions there a lot better.
Second is my favorite, following by the first. Origami King seems way too scrunched up, while the remake just seems a little off. I do like how both of these games look overall, but this specific pose was better in the first two.
Remake. Though I think the best was the sharp scissor-cut watercolor look in the color splash gallery. As for front-facing Mario, I never noticed how bad it looked until it was overused in later games.
I like the concept of putting the outlines to actual use as a form of visual accent, shame it never came to be and they're essentially just a filter.

Since he tends to pop up in Paper Mario threads, Chuggaaconroy responded to the drama again.
Is this about the feet thing? Why is he so hung up on that?

Honestly bro should just move on and not acknowledge it.
He couldn’t unless he addressed those chats when he was 19. Only time will tell what he’ll do now.
Then he should say he was a cringe lord and says he wants to move on. Go back to doing what he likes. Kill Protonjon. All that.
>bro should
wigger detected, post discarded
>One screenshot has a Paper Mario boot sticker
Chugga had a hard life. I won't say he did nothing wrong, but he definitely didn't deserve any of this shit.
My assumption that the accusers were vindictive, backstabbing pieces of shit was dead on, it seems. I'm not the type to really care about e-celeb drama, but it's still depressing to see a guy's life and reputation ruined because he was an autist with bad social skills, ditto for seeing someone be torn apart by the opportunistic snakes he thought were his friends. Pretty sure he's going to be hounded by unfunny zoomers telling him to kill himself until the end of time.
>Masae and I dated
Bro what the frick
So lolcow farm was right.
I remember posting this awhile back, but someone understandably claimed their engagement might not be true.
>Chugga and Masae dated for a decade during all of their videos together, and even got engaged
>all of the fanshippers were right
>But then they broke up
>Masae joins in with the accusations on Chugga
I don't know how to feel about this
It was a few years, I wouldn't be batting an eye. It's the ten years and engagement that make the whole situation seem way more fricked from several different angles.
Ten years makes me wonder who wasn't pushing for engagement. My bet is Masae since she didn't want anyone knowing about it anyways, feels like she just used him and then moved on.
Someone brought this up in another thread, but they mentioned other people in the TRG circle just seeming to sigh towards the end of the two's public interactions whenever Emile would make a joke. Could easily seen it having been him if the break-up wasn't over any sudden incident.
>tfw completely right
i stand by Chuggaa till my death bed and thats all im gonna say about any of that. Guy is just autistic, cant help it
Based, dude is autistic and if asking for feet pics is the worst thing you can find on him, that shows how much of a good fricking dude he really is
I’m more bewildered at the
>yeah we were engaged and I wanted to share it but she wanted to keep it private for some reason
If that isn’t the BIGGEST FRICKING RED FLAG I don’t know what is
Anyway after skimming, frick the accusers. And FRICK the dumbasses getting on him for something posted 14 years ago. What losers
For fricks sakes I thought this was put to bed.
Glad to know my hunch was correct that many of the parties shitflinging at him were hiding many of the dirty laundry they had.
>"Look at what this autistic is doing to me."
>Casually leaves out the parts where s/he is actively participating.
I see Jon is following him again.

Just the brain dead legion
Shiggy least favorite character is Toad and the whole rog franchise is not only filled with Toads but unique toads, male and female of different shapes, sizes, colors and even dead Toads.
I know, but these copypastas are so fun to make. It's not like there's any pictures of angry Tanabe.
>lying about what your bosses want you to do
>as a businessman hailing from a country with the most brutal work culture on the planet

>"We can't change existing Mario characters or make new ones"
>Luigi's Mansion 3 has entirely new characters
>Odyssey introduces new species of existing Mario enemies
>Bowser's Inside Story remake introduces three brand new characters
All of those characters are intentionally off model to fit the rules.
Portraying Miyamoto as a petulant boy-king who beats developers in the back of the head while riding on a stick-horse and dressed as a cowboy for trying to sneak stories into games is a time-honored tradition.
It was a survey that got us into this mess, maybe it'll be a survey that gets us out of it.
And that survey will be conducted by wallets.
I liked TTYD on the Gamecube enough that this is genuinely the first new video game I'm buying in the year 2024, I've wanted a new Paper Mario RPG that isn't dogshit for literally 20 years now
>but Bug Fables
That game sucks balls, bought the limited run switch port and the game is trash. 5/10, it's technically capable but it isn't fun
64 is still better
Better story mode for sure but TTYD's battle system with more fully-fledged partners, more badges and stylish moves is superior. I like both games equally.
Godspeed, but I personally can't be bros with someone who calls Bug Fables trash. How far did you get? The plot goes to some wonderful, crazy places, and I can't understand not enjoying the combat if you're a fan of classic PM.
Up to the sand castle
The combat animations are stiff, button timings feel imprecise, the ice blocks feel absolutely awful to move where you want them to, 3 constant party members is inferior to 1 constant and a rotating partner, Maybe she's better later but Vi is too c**ty, and there's barely any ways to increase your base per-hit damage output which is especially annoying on hard mode where fricking everything has armor which just turns fights into Kabuu spam. I tried, I mean I paid a lot of money and really wanted to like it but the game just did NOT mesh with me. Maybe I'll take off the hard mode badge and autopilot through.
>combat animations
you grow to tolerate jank when you aren't dealing with AAA budgets.
>button timings feel imprecise
that might be a switch issue, I never felt like my inputs were off on PC
>ice blocks
they put a preview arrow on them because of how awkward it was to have 360 degrees of freedom instead of being orthogonal
>3 constant party members is inferior to 1 and a rotating partner
All 3 of them have story arcs because they're all the protagonists, all 3 of them have tattle-like dialogue for every screen, and all of the story is written with the expectation that they'll be present. Mario is a silent and overpowered protagonist with a rotating door of partners who get 1 chapter worth of story before being demoted to an extra in a story that isn't theirs, or a fulltime partner because they're plainly stronger in combat than the others
We may have to agree to disagree but I believe that you have pretty poor taste if you think the character writing for PM's partners is better.
>I don't like Vi
That's fine, she rubbed me the wrong way too. Her arc involves swallowing her pride and becoming a better person, you had already started the arc when she had her reunion with her sister in chapter 3.
But even before then, her dynamic does bounce off of Kabbu and Leif's personalities in a way that feels a lot more genuine than everyone being gung ho for the titular hero character.
>barely any ways to increase base damage
did you not use the badges? You should've had access to some solid ones before you reached the sand castle at the end of chapter 4.
Sorry to hear that you don't feel like you got your money's worth. Especially since you dipped out right before the story kicked off some higher stakes.
Ice block jank is a fair critique, though it has been improved a lot with patches. I can't agree with a lot of your other critiques on a subjective level, that just wasn't my experience. There's lots of ways to boost attack, like self-poison medal strats and buffing recipies (Though admittedly, the game trying to encourage item use can be a deterrant in itself.)
I hope you can give the game another chance, because I really think it's great on it's own merits, even beyond filling the free demo shaped hole in my heart.
>barely any ways to increase your base per-hit damage
Yeah the game is centered on conditional power boosts. I barely used Kabbu to attack at that point and just had him taunt to give Vi and Leif the attack boost from that one "wearer gets hit" badge. That's what I liked about hard mode: it was actually hard and gave cool rewards. The game expects you to devote a lot of thought to exploiting weaknesses, specializing party members, using inventory slots etc.
t. bug fables anon from /vg/ agdg, probably
>That game sucks balls
Extremely shit taste.
>And that survey will be conducted by wallets.
THAT survey was conducted when Origami King released. And barely managed to sell 4x more than Color Splash in spite of the Switch selling 10x more than the Wii U AND it launching in the middle of fricking pandemic, which skyrocketed Animal Crossing into tens of millions of bonus sales. Why do you think they started trotting out the actual fricking Mario RPG games again?
and remember, NoA knew NoJ was being moronic and desperately tried to trick us into thinking it was like TTYD with shit like pushing bobby hard.
You raise a very good point, Anon. Maybe we'll see a return of Luigi's striped socks yet?
I wouldn't call 3.5 million a failure when only Super Paper Mario sold more. Still could have maybe not met their higher expectations, but at the same time the game got rushed marketing in the first place. For better or worse, Mario RPGs have usually sold along the same lines as Nintendo's B list franchises.
By Switch sales standards, TOK is a failure. This isn't the Gamecube.
So were the majority of the games then, like Metroid Dread.
3.5 million is around the amount other B tier franchises sold on the Switch, which is why I mentioned that. In fact, that number was close to just 3 million when the game first came out, which puts it in the same realm as the likes of Metroid Dread, Pikmin 4, or Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The best-selling games on Switch I would stay are still on B-list level would be Kirby Star Allies and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and even then they were more in line before experiencing very strong evergreen sales.
I played Etrian Odyssey but not Etrian Odyssey
Remake of the OG when?
TTYD is my favorite Mario game period, but I really did always think it would be the first game to get a remake first. The biggest points for the sequel were its further popularity and the change to improve quality of life, yet so far there's barely even any signs of the second.
The watercolor looks amazing, but likely got cut due to a mix of it not reflecting the game's tone the best and the likely headaches that would have arisen trying to make the various cuts transition well into each other.,
In my series there is problem
And that problem's Tanabe
He take everybody unique
And never give them back
THROW TANABE DOWN THE WELL
SO MY SERIES CAN BE FREE
(So my series can be free!)
YOU MUST KILL HIM BY SURVEY
THEN WE HAVE A BIG PARTY
If you see Tanabe coming
You must be careful of his games
You must grab him by his sales
And I tell you what to do
>I have played more than 3 RPGs before.
The bar is so fricking low, when that's the highest number.
I think it'd be cool if they added Double Pain badges to the shop at the start of the game and let you buy multiples
I really hope there's either some kind of actual hard mode with curated values, "Double HP" or "Double damage" is the lamest way to do hard modes in any game and I never enjoy it.
A new superboss that's even stronger than Bonetail would be sick
I agree but Nintendo sadly thinks we're too moronic for stuff like that
>new game
>Crump comes back due to popular demand
>gets a redemption arc and joins you as a partner
I would love to see the Paper Mario games build off each other like the M&L games did. I mean they sorta did that with the first two but we have three games that are totally separated from each other and yet all feel the same.
Where the frick is Flavio? Shit list
Here it is
THIS is the deciding question in the entire survey
This question will decide the future of Paper Mario
Whatever you select, that point needs to be picked above the others or at minimum among the others in the previous question.
No the deciding question is the one about the characters.
Nah, remember people saying they didn’t care about the story in SPM is what led to this mess in the first place
So is this in fact just overwriting the same survey over and over?
We don't kniw for sure
We should probably rule that out however we can. It may be the best outcome, though. I feel like them getting way more responses than they know they sent out is going to frick the whole thing and they'll just not bother with any of it now.
That is a possibility
That should probably be why they should send out more of them, then. Chances are, the people that these are gettinh sent to have a significant chance to not be actual fans
I'm resetting my router over and over again to say I hate it :^)

Which reddit is this from? It's not on Paper Mario or regular Mario.
There were other Paper Mario clones that came out in the past few years, but outside of Bug Fables were any of them good? Just wanna know if there's any I should try after my TTYD rejourney next month.
No, also Bug Fables wasn't good either. You just wanted to frick the bee.
And opinions readily discarded.
bug fables wasn't good.
>There were other Paper Mario clones that came out in the past few years
there were? I haven't seen any besides that bread game and it was mid
Yeah, there was some PM-like game about ghosts or something, and I heard the console version was jank and unoptimized as shit. Thanks for letting me know the bread one was mid though.

This is my favorite one. Even if the sacrifices got better throughout each modern game, the fact they did it three times in a row is beyond absurd. They had Tippi die as well to add insult to injury.
Imagine a timeline where this came true.

Tanabe would've totally done this if he had his way, too
Very good.

>MMO games
There's your issue
Classic (vanilla) world of warcraft is legitimately the best game ever, and season of discovery is a fresh new take on the vanilla world. Nobody hates blizzard more than me, but i give credit where credit is due. Keep seething
You didn't pick RPGs and then proceeded to pick the later option where you confirm you played 2.
You didn't. MMOs is a great one in particular since it expands the general demographics who like these games.
Actually this might be good as they'll see players who normally are interested in different genres are looking forward to Paper Mario now.
So, who’s ready for the inevitable shitstorm when Vivian’s gender is revealed in the remake? I’ll still love her either way, but discussion involving her will be tainted.
I'm convinced they're just going to make Vivian female in every version of the game, including Japan, for the remake. They've done this sort of localization censorship backporting in remakes before. It's the safest thing they could do from a business perspective, but also cause the biggest shitstorm on Twitter. I'm buckling up.
It's funny because I love girl Vivian, trans Vivian, and femboy Vivian equally. I only care about how she actually sees herself, and I can't seem to get a clear, definitive answer on that from the Japanese version. The narrator says he's a boy, but does Vivian acknowledge this, or want to be a girl? Really, everyone's just too hellbent on one outcome or the other for the sake of their culture war, far beyond the issue of how Vivian actually sees herself, or himself.
Vivian was the first character I jerk offd to that I also ejaculated to. If he's really just a pretty male, he made both of us men.
Why would Twitter have a shitstorm over that? Outside a few crazies that are easy to set off, most will either just accept it as a basic yet uncontroversial route or, if they really want to push the trans angle, just take fun in Vivian officially being made a girl everywhere now. Taking a more direct stance on the issue would cause way more controversy.
I was assuming they'd see them sidestepping the issue with the original English localization as them silencing their voices or whatever the frick.
>Vivian was the first character I jerk offd to that I also ejaculated to. If he's really just a pretty male, he made both of us men.
Kino
It's just going to be the same most likely, or at most they might dance around her gender a little more in off-hand remarks. We've never going to get them calling her trans outright or restoring the Japanese text exactly, with the current footage showing them sticking to the original translation regardless outside weird instances like Bowser saying "lunkheads" now. Don't forget as well that Nintendo higher-ups would want to avoid controversy with American conservatives more than push any personal beliefs from the localizers.
Oddly enough, the place where I could actually see some changes would be in Japan. Don't expect them to just rewrite Vivian, but might be made a little less harsh than the original.
>weird instances like Bowser saying "lunkheads" now
... I could swear I've heard him use that exact phrase before. Was that not in TTYD?
The original word was airhead in TTYD. He may have said it elsewhere. I personally always hear King K. Rool from the cartoon saying it when I read it anywhere.
Could be a weird copyright issue, could be that air-headed might be seen as "offensive" for whatever reason, or could just be that the current team thought lunkheads felt more like Bowser in this situation.
I think it's funnier, snappier, and suits the tone better. I have no idea why they'd analyze that line closely enough to change it, so it's probably one of those.
I have to say, it sounds more Bowser-y. "Airhead" has taken on some feminine and even fond connotations that oppose it to traditional ways to call someone dumb, "lunkhead" hits the right vocal notes that it *sounds* brutish, still comes off a bit toothless and cartoony thanks to how weird it is, without having that fond/feminine connotation.
What's wrong with having a feminine connotation? He's literally yelling at a woman.
Based on the changes of new Pikmin 2 release I think they want to specifically get rid of gendered insults entirely
To be fair, he just straight-up calls her an idiot in the Japanese.
That's fricking moronic. I hope Treehouse burns
so it IS a censorship issue then, gotcha.
Posting for context.
Only change I cared about was retconning that Olimar's wife was bad with money
That's very strange.
I'm a troony of all things and find most of these to be pointless changes. You don't even need a particular gender to get the joke out of most of these here. Only one that seems somewhat understandable in current day is the tomato comment. I don't mind it myself, but it could be taken as him sneakily drugging his wife up for the sake of sexual pleasure.
If it's any defense here, I played the remaster and didn't find the changes to take away that much from the overall experience. I was surprised as well to see the generic brands fit fine into the overall game.
Based troony
You will be spared from the day of the rope
honestly if anything I feel its a downgrade in regards to Olimars personality. The Priceless and Worthless statues give a look into how he views his family in a small subtle way, removing it just feels like making him more sterile.
That's so moronic. Olimar's whole appeal is that talks about everything like he's your dad.
Feels like AI rewrote most of these. I'll wait for the xci to leak to see how much they castrated the dialogues
>already changed to lunched because negative female connotation
To the surprise of no one, the Treehouse became the Roots.

What's with Paper Mario and dragging shit out?
Why a survey for this particular game tbh? Did they do one for the SMRPG remake too?
I hope it means they really are considering going back to the series' roots..
I know there was a survey after The Origami King that got less attention. Heard there was one for SMRPG as well, but haven't seen it.
Man, feelsgood to have a proper Paper Mario thread again. Very little shitflinging and a bunch of hype.
For once, I feel hope for the future of the subseries.

maybe not, but it IS funny how it's making you seethe, and that's all that matters
