Big yikes
That's more that I was expecting, fricking wizardry
it's a Piss4 game. People are forgetting that said thing's already a decade-old console, that ran on lower-end mobile hardware of its era.
Even a low-power laptop i5 + GT 1030 2gb can run the game at 720p/low/40-45fps average
Remember when the narrative was that Switch could only run ps4 games at 720p or below? Funny how the goal has been moved to keep downplaying these kinds of ports lmao
What laptop has a GT 1030, mine has intel HD graphics
the PS4 is still 4.5x stronger than the switch in GPU
GCN2.0 1845GFlop vs Maxwell 393GFlop
>cut framerate in half
>cut resolution in half
>cut draw distance in half
problem solved
The resolution is 44% higher than on the base PS4 (1600x900 vs 1920x1080).
Cutting framerate in half also means it'll drop as low as 20fps in harder scenes and cutting draw distance in half means it'll have terrible pop in.
It outputs to 1080p, it will never run at 1080p for real
Holy cope. It's rendered at 1080p
Bro, this game isn't new. They have to cut back somewhere. Things that are computationally impossible are just computationally impossible. This isn't bashing the switch, this is theorizing what they did to achieve that.
>Bro, this game isn't new.
That is to say, we know how demanding it is and how much the switch is capable of in theory, and the 1080p30 just doesn't seem realistic unless they did something to make it easier to run.
This is also what I suspect. They have to use something like FSR or better yet some form of temporal uscaling AA and render it internally at 540p or 720p docked and 360p or 540p mobile.
>it's a Piss4 game
the PS4 is still 3-4 times more powerful than a switch, and still the game ran like crap on it, if they manage to make it run on switch it's an impressive result
let's wait until the actual performance
They can do that but can't release drakengard?
Nier Automata and the Switch came out the same year. The bare minimum shouldn’t be impressive.
>1080p
>The bare minimum
>Base Ps4 ran at 900p
You're delusional on top of disingenuous
PS4 is a 2013 console, running on already outdated (mobile) hardware. It really ain't too difficult to run.
Yes, 1080p is the bare minimum. It’s 2022.
That's the maximum
It will probably have fluctuating resolution and framerate to some degree
It looks like a PSP game with HD models, the fact that it only run at 30fps is hilarious, especially for a P* game lmao.
It's going to run like ass.
All they really need to do is disable or tone down the Global Illumination, and it would run even on a 1gb GTX 560ti.
Didn’t watch the direct
Was there any Silksong?
no
You are basically getting PS4 level performance on a tablet. Not bad actually.
No those numbers are even better.
Base PS4 ran at 900p and "targeted" 60fps but would routinely drop to the 30s like in the more open areas. You needed a PS4 Pro to actually get 1080p and even then it could STILL drop frames.
Even dropping the target down to 30fps, 1080p seems ridiculous on switch. I'll believe it when I see it.
Game run like ass everywhere too.
Runs rock solid 60fps, at 1200p, on my old ass desktop PC.
Only on consoles
god i wish more game optimized like this.
i played this at 1080p 60fps on a gtx 970 lmao
Well I'll be damned. That's some impressive optimization. Probably would have bought it, but Nier/Drakengard don't seem that interesting beyond having multiple endings.
Drakengard is fantastic and a true classic but only the OG nier is good automata is kinda bland outside of a few scenes
Does anyone still care about automata?
>Does anyone still care about one of the best games of the century?
Hmm...
>replicant flops
Yeah, nobody cared about this franchise. They just fapped to 2B porn.
Replicant literally sold 1 mil copies within its first month, which again was a huge success thanks to its lower production costs, akin to Automata.
My Acer Nitro 5, which has Nvidia MX150 2gb, which is the same as the GT1030.
I've never owned a laptop that would not have a dedicated GPU.
You indian by any chance?
Waiting for performance hands on before buying, but if they somehow got it to a solid 30FPS I'd be glad to play it for the first time
I'd personally prefer a 60fps mode, but fortunately the game can be played more akin to an RPG, so it's not a huge loss.
I would too without a doubt. It might just push me to play this game finally since I never have. Maybe I'll dust off my PS4 copy.
>1080p
Kek that's higher resolution than PS4
Actually impressive. And I'm gonna play for free on my hacked Switch.
Kys Black person homosexual twitter tourist
>30 fps
No thanks.
more like targeting 30fps.
>the PS4 game that ran like poorly even on a pro gets a physical switch port that's actually optimized to run even better
>some PS2 kingdom hearts games are too complicated and can only be made available on switch with cloud versions
What the frick square?
automata is a platinum game, they know how to optimize for switch
Square Enix once again prives just how shitty they are.
I still don't how they fricked up the KH ports when the HD versions of FF 10 + 12 (two of squares other big PS2 games) got perfectly good ports years ago
>played it on PS4 like 5 years ago at a higher framerate
I like my Switch but Jesus the thing is weak as frick
>1080p30 docked
No fricking way, I'll eat my hat if that doesn't regularly drop into the 10s.
It's just Astral chain but worse and the waifus aren't as good.
Just watch it on YouTube or wait for the anime.
>Switch owners salivating over an old ps4 game that PC already has
it's sad to be honest
>20fps at 540p
meanwhile in the real world people play games on PC at 1440p and 144fps
If it's true my fricking respect for Platinum
Shit game, enjoy the scraps
I don't believe it, that shit is optimized like hell, can't even run on pc.
Fortunately your Windows XP era wormbox does not represent the average gaming PC of the late-2010s to early-2020s.
Anything above 30fps is far above average for the console tards, and 50+ is easily playable.
it's an action-RPG.
Also the latest Yakuza games run 30fps even on Piss5.
>Also the latest Yakuza games run 30fps even on Piss5.
I played both Like a Dragon and Lost Judgment some months ago and both were 60fps.
>Also the latest Yakuza games run 30fps even on Piss5.
Judgement and Lost Judgement both run at 60fps on PS5. Are you high?
You have to be fricking kidding, i neede 2 patches to get that shit running without shiting itself.
Its a good game, but optimized like absolute shit.
People forget that Automata ran like shit on PS4/PS4 Pro, and was only 900p on base PS4 and couldn't even maintain 60 FPS.
>30 FPS for an action game
why even bother making this? damn
What is DMC 1? What is God of War Portable? What is Tenshu?
Great game, prepare for a bunch of tendies threads about how the game isnt' liek Zelda.
it is like zelda THOUGH yoko taro said the world was inspired by OoT
Dont really care about it i still going to jerk off to 2B
yuzu chads
I think the LOD and texture quality will suffer too much. 720p30FPS with good image quality us preferable. But Nier Automata overworld is mostly empty when there aren't set pieces so it could be fine at 1080p.
>all those posts earlier about the game running like shit on the deck
come on man, fricking really? how? I was just planning to buy it there
The PC port of automata has been fricked since release and required third party fixes before they were implemented in the main version. I'm sure it'll be fixed for deck soon enough
Got fixed since early 2021, with the microsoft store version. Afaik, they also fixed the steam version shortly after.
Why didn't they spend the extra resolution headroom into pushing for 60 FPS? I mean, still great they got things optimized to a tee there but it feels like they could've pushed things further and lowered the resolution to get 60 FPS.
Same reason why so many games run at native 1800p30 but can't run at 1080p60 on PS4Pro/XboneX. The CPU just can't handle it at anywhere close to 60fps.
>30 fps
WE EATING GOOD TENDIEBROD
>1080p
It will be "dynamic" 1080p which means actually 540p with TAA blur
I'll believe it when I see it
