This, I told you people for years they weren't legitimate since they get paid for their reviews since it's not illegal...if something isn't illegal and will get someone money they will do it.

It has nice scenery visials .... And nothing else good. They tried to make game of feels when you walk among sci-fi grandiose visuals but these environment are not incorporated into game play. And everything else is just bad.

gaming journalist stopped being respectable a few years before gamergate

and in the 20 odd years before gamergate it was still an utter shillfest, but it was at least halfway informative despite the shilling. Whereas today, if you read an article about x or y game from some prostitution goyslop review website, all they do is suck it off and swallow.

Thank god for user reviews. You can see all the dipshit marketers and execs mad as frick about it because they always b***h and whine about "review bombing" aka actual customers expressing actual feeling about how shit the company and its product are.

Yes, with no reason for it to not be on PS as well, since (from what people told me) that one even outperforms current gen Xbox. We call that exclusivity.

I don't. I call Bloodborne being only on snoy station exclusivity.

Generally speaking, games are developed on PC architecture primarily and have to be ported to other consoles/devices/operating systems. If a game is only on PC it's because the developers didn't put resources into porting it. If it's only on playstation it's because they hate consumers.

Yeah, that's the real reason exclusivity is dying. Before PS4/Xbox One you had different consoles with very different architectures, which ironically peaked with PS3 and its "cell processor" thing, but then PS4/Xbox One were suddenly already close to being just glorified PCs, with PS5/Xbox S/X even more so, and that kind of "MUH optimization" justification started going down the drain. And to be fair, both sides recognize that now as well. How many "true exlusives" that are neither timed nor "console-exclusives" are there even for PS5 and Xbox S/X? Are there even any? Pretty much everything is coming to PC now.
Now Nintendo consoles on the other hand...

Even Bethesda fans seem very mixed on this game. I think it's a combination of a dull setting and shitty technology that takes all the joy out of exploring, because who wants to explore hundreds of of boring, flat, uniform planets that only houses bandits? The Bethesda magic is gone and all you're left with is a game with all the typical Bethesda flaws - a mediocre main story, shallow RPG mechanics, acceptable combat and jank.

      Anonymous

The setting is boring, everything was made to be too safe, the edges were sanded down, everything that could've been pointy was rounded. Systems are all locked too far behind perks which are locked behind shitty daily quest level mechanics. Fallout 4 had an incredibly fun gameloop of KILL LOOT RETURN picking up screws and shit and coming back to your base, building walls and turrets and houses for your settlers, working on your weapons and armor with all the loot and garbage you picked up on your bizarre adventure that zigzagged across the map. Starfield makes generic shit useless, you don't know what to pick up, you need to find some shitty sentimental wafers and quazitronic excrement to upgrade your weapon, you never go back to your settlement because it's just some abandoned mine on a desolate planet you fast traveled to once and the building options are NASA GREENHOUSE y/n

        >but everything good is overshadowed by the glaring issues at every corner.
Main problem of the Starfield game it doesn't have good basic gameplay loop. Its core problem.
They made massive engine to generate good looking and proper to sci-fi scenery. That sfood part. But what about connecting this scenery with gameplay loop? You can see they tried but it so ackward and forced. You ship lands 500 meters away from quest marker so you are forced to walk these 500 meters enjoying (the not) these sceneries.
But is so forced and had no sense in setting and no connection with gameplay.
What is the struggle and engagement during this walk? None.
And form setting point of view it doesn't makes any sensez breaking suspension of disbelief. Why can't ship land near the marker? Why are their no vehicles?

Again see example of similar game "you walk around scenery and enjoy the views". Death Stranding game. It has scenery connected with the gameloop and setting. Setting explains why walk. Walking itself is challenging and contains conflict, it CAN fail, player is engaged.

        Starfield has nothing of that.

Let me tell you a story.
A long time ago, "journalism" was seen for what it was, bullshit propaganda by various outlets purposely created in those outlets interests. It could be royal bullshit, bullshit from a particular business, or religious bullshit. But everyone knew who was in charge of what and knew to take it with a grain of salt.
Then Watergate happened and it was a massive glow up, suddenly journalists were "after the truth" and they "held power to account"... Thing is, they never did, that was never their function. But most of the people here grew up with that "crusaders for truth" as the understanding of journalism. Because of that, most of us are actually surprised when it turns out they're just shills our interested in increasing their own platform, or really just like the sound of their own voice.
But like I said, that was always their function. Need to start setting news media as that again. Propaganda, bullshit, a big giant focusing lens to get you to pay attention to what the people in control of that platform want. The only time you ever see the truth is when one of the 4 horsemen is on your doorstep. Because then you have no time to buy the bullshit.

Time we all started remembering what journalism always was. And it's all of it, there's no "always truthful" outlet. Even the ones that aren't straight out bullshit eventually devolve straight back into it, because that's its function.

Oh and the reason games journalism is so egregious is because most of the time you can just go and see the truth for yourself by playing the game and most of you autists will actually look deep enough and bear enough of a grudge to say something about it. Plus most of them are too shit at actual journalism to hide the fact they're incestuous stoolies. You have to actually finish your journalism degree to learn that.

The moment gaming """journalism""" lost all credibility.

Journalists of any sort have never had credibility with anyone with more than two brain cells. They are failed writers who prostitute themselves out for a paycheck. Their job is literally to write lies for whoever pays them to. Editors ensure they don’t rock the boat and upset major sponsors. People joke about making politicians wear their sponsors like racecar drivers, but journalists are the exact same. Except they now have the gall to consider themselves unbiased arbiters of truth because they sniffed their own farts for too long.
Games journalists are one of the worst examples, because like this poster mentioned anyone can independently verify their claims easily. But journalists of all other walks of life are the same, it’s just most people can’t verify their claims. Wait until you’re involved in an event that makes it into the news, then compare what you saw/experienced vs what is printed. It’s like reading a fantasy novel with as much product placement as possible.

      >since at least 2007
You're a baby. It was ALWAYS corrupt. There's stories going back to the fricking 80s about paid reviews and reviewers getting reprimanded or fired because a company got pissed he gave them a bad review. And that's not even getting into the likes of Nintendo and Sony creating their own review publication that existed solely to shill.

    gamergate was right

      Anonymous

Gamergate was a massive psyop to undermine public opinion against journalism. Not only that it smoke screened a bunch of shit that has had a net negative effect on various societies. It was when steam switched to a subscription service from a store front. The GFC basically got memoryholed and everyone responsible just restarted the machine. Corporate hegemony like the TPP and TAP got signed in backrooms basically subverting democracy. Your literal laws have to take a back seat to corporate deals.
All while they played 5guys and HURR DURR TRUMP on repeat.
The media is design to control your focus.

I did. I was there. I watched the media tone after tone ignore hard evidence you autists dug up to show evidence of unethical behaviour in media. I watched as they bought the shit time after time by people that were proven to be lying and false flagging themselves to pretend victimhood. I saw the trolls playing both sides and i saw the minority of homosexuals that were actually mad about stupid shit that had their insane nattering constantly put on blast over the actual evidence.
And since, I've seen the results of things that happened during that time that should have been in the media but was conveniently forgotten or relegated to so far down the page with maybe a paragraph that affected massive sections of society.
So no, I'm not moronic, you are, because you can't see the obvious truth because you care more about provincial bullshit or dunking on randoms on the internet.

That's literally what it was. It might not have started like that as some planned conspiracy, but that was definitely what it became and what is only lasting effect is.
And what's your rebuttal "hurr durr, you're just a moron" frick off idiot. The evidence is clear and instead of actually following that people would rather be ashamed about Gamergate and continue making "hurr durr gamer" memes. Tell me that's a fricking lie. Go on.

Other than what others already mentioned a more recent example that should have clued you in was The Last Of Us Part 2. Look at the massive gulp between its metacritic critic score (93 out of 100) and its metacritic user score (5.8 out of 10). Not to mention they conspired to give TLOU2 the GOTY 2020 award just for existing when literally any other title nominated in any category that day would have deserved it more.

You don't have to foam out of your mouth about the truth. Gamers are the only people who cope and seethe in masses about what is considered to be a true enjoyer of the medium.

Hating on things is a phenomenon that happens pretty much everywhere on Ganker. Some people make their whole life about hating a particular thing on this looney bin.

Some even cheer for it to happen, they call it "ritual posters". Which most of the time is just avatargayging or straight up spamming and should be a bannable offense but mods don't care.
