What's developed in Texas video game-wise? I honestly don't know.
I know they apparently had a decent voice acting presence (not sure if that's still the case, but it used to be at least)

Id, Ensemble Studios, and Retro Studios are the only ones who come to mind, so so far that's:

      >doom
      >quake
      >age of empires
      >halo wars
      >metroid prime
      >donkey kong country returns
      Not bad so far

Id software and who else? Though I guess you don't need much else for it to be the most important

        Borderlands (Gearbox)
Ultima (First MMO and coined the MMORPG genre)
        Retro Games

That grid failure has happened several times now due to 'once in a lifetime ice storms' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Groundhog_Day_blizzard

They were warned about the dangers of not weatherproofing as early as 1989 and refused to do it, read the article before commenting idiot

This anon gets it, any future aid to Texas if their powergrid goes out again because they're too cheap to weatherproof should be conditional that Texas RE be dissolved and they join MRO since it's clear they're not going to fix this on their own.

Not heat but summer weather. They have fricked days where they don't generate enough via wind. It's happened and it's almost happened a bunch. I got so many alerts about it this summer.

          Anonymous

Okay if a power grid is dependent on wind energy sure. But heat or summer weather inherently has no effect otherwise.

            Anonymous

It does because repeated high heat causes higher usage of electricity and if we aren't generating enough via wind to keep up with demand they dip into reserves and when they don't have enough they do blackouts.

              Anonymous

Only 24% of Texas's energy comes from wind, why would that be the cause? No existing energy capacity had been replaced by wind.

Also most of the energy deficiency in the last blackout were due gas and nuclear plant shutdowns

Idk homie but it happens. Ask ercot or are they lying to us about how shit they are? You're arguing with reality.

                Anonymous

If ERCOT was connected to other grids, this wouldn't be a problem, because if ERCOT goes down you just switch over to power from other states

        >Texas republicans caved and the grid and plant upgrades became optional
        >another ice storm hits
        >hundreds die due to predicted outages

But thank goodness the wealthy got to save some money

Meanwhile every state and country north of Texas got hit with the same cold snap and no rolling blackouts.

The federal government's emissions shit rules are hamstringing Texas' way of getting power and since we are on our own grid intense weather can knock out our power.
