I didn't think it was that weird when I played it, now that people are pointing it out and it's a meme, I can kinda see it, but still.
Really? You didn't see anything wrong the the main villain exposing his grand plan without the main character retorting in any way, and then spending half the trip in complete silence?
Snake was never one to respond with witty remarks to the villians monlogues, maybe Solid but never Naked/Big Boss
The biggest Boss "responded" moment to an enemy speech was educating Ocelot how gun engravings give you no tactical advantage whatsoever
The game had long established the MC as a mute self-insert by that point so it wasn’t surprising
Then if the character is mute, why put him in a situation that begs a conversation, and not a monologue?
You are the one begging for a conversation, Skullface just wanted to monologue like he has done since Ground Zeroes
Maybe Venom was anti-social
>and then spending half the trip in complete silence?
he puts on night vision goggles and takes them off during the speech over and over. it was a funny scene
Not at all
It was a moment of reflection for the player
Remember YOU, YOU are Big Boss
it's pretty obvious there was more to this scene but the homosexuals at konami didn't let him finish the fricking game.
>i-it's weird he doesnt say anything! Kiefer c-cost too much lol!
>oh you mean like every other time in the series where it cut to stock footage and snake didn't talk?
>no! that doesn't count b-because...because it just doesn't, okay!?
Kojima filtering midwits yet again.
Snake in MGS1
>Huh?
>A surveillance camera?
>A Hind-D?
>Metal gear?
>Super baby method?
>Bugs bunny?
>>Bugs bunny?
>Snake! Press the action button to defecate on his face!
This scene is even funnier when you see someone else going through it. My roommate in uni was playing this and I came back during the drive and he was just spinning the camera like a spaz while we both laughed at it. I bet Kojima thought this was going to be like his version of that still shot in Evangelion.
>having a completely dead quiet 3 minute jeep ride with the main antagonist after he gives his monologue is normal
just admit kojima really wanted to be making a movie at exactly this scene
SUCH A LUST FOR REVENGE
WHOOOOOOOOOO!?
I dont know man, i kinda liked it
Kojima did well on building Skullface like a psycho since Ground Zeroes, what he did to Paz, destroying MotherBase, getting Huey to defect...twice
IT kinda made YOU (the player) mad at SkullFace thanks to how fricking furious Kaz was at him, so when you are finally face to face it felt like a "I cant wait to shoot all your limbs off, so do all the talking while you can"
I shot him, for Kaz
The game speaks for itself, you don't even need words.
So deep.
it's like climbing the ladder, something dopamine burnt zoomers wouldn't understand
I feel like if you only thought the final scene was nonsense then you weren't paying attention to the rest of the game.
Fricking male-to-female wolbachia copulation and shit, man. And that boss from MGS3 comes back from the dead but he's made of fire now for some reason. None of it made any sense. It was clearly all just scenes that Kojimbo thought would be dramatic despite being stupid strung together with the thinnest of relevance and called a story.
You will also be ashamed of your words and your deeds.
Volgin coming back was silly but at least they did stuck to their own rules, Volgin was nothing but a corpse pulled back into life thanks to his lust for revange resonating with kid psycho mantis, so when Eli comes into the scene he is quickly forgotten since Eli had more anger than both Volgin and Skullface
>And that boss from MGS3
What about MGSV attracts so many "experts" who have never played a single other title in the series?
Volgin was from MGS3, moron.
He meant that calling Volgin "That Boss from MGS3" shows you didnt play the game i think
Which, cmon, how can you forget Volgin
Because the game came out 18 fricking years ago.
Its fricking Volgin.
Are you on the spectrum?
Are you done scraping cum off your desk?
>no boss fight against skullface
thank you kojimbo very cool
Impressive the guy on the left kept still for so long
i definitely would've pulled out my idroid
Me on the right explaining the evolutionary advantages of the platypus
look at the fricking flatface squareskull on the left
I just sat and listened and and rolled with the contrivances like every other video game cutscene
Then I gotta hear MGSlards point and sputter at it for eternity like all their games aren't like this
It's explicable.
You dont believe that do you? That was always all bullshit and what was always in the game contradicted what was alleged. There is something of an unfinished area cordoned off on the Africa map but no village, but that was never talked about at the time.
>You dont believe that do you?
I 100% believe it because the scene is so fricking stupid that there is simply no way it was intended to be the way it is. Only way it makes sense is if it was a last-minute rushed replacement for something they couldn't get to work in time.
maybe kojimbo just found it cool to sit in silence along the big bad. given i haven't played this game but name 1(one) other game where they do this
a bit of these two, in every escort scene in a movie or series you already know something is gonna happen otherwise it would be a boring ride from A to B, except it was a boring ride this time
I thought it was because there's no guarantee you're even playing as Snake during that segment?
The pod ride in hl2 comes close I'd say.
i think they were aiming for a tense scene, you keep thinking something is gonna happen midtrip... and then nothing happens EXPECTACTIONS SUBVERTED BRAVO KOJIMA
For me it's in Kingdom Hearts 3 towards the end when all the good guys are just standing around like cardboard cutouts getting whacked one by one. Pretty much every dramatic moment in that game plays out very awkwardly (by KH standards).
>arguing with a janny
this whole mission is inexplicable
>the whole mission is to kill Skullface
>see Skullface's chopper lands
>doesn't shoot it down or take cover to surprise it or anything
>instead confronts Skullface directly when he comes out and gets immediately outgunned by his guards
>survives only because Skullface wants to see Venom duel Volgin
>calmly walks into his Jeep and gets ferried all the way to his base
>The Diamond Dog staff monitoring the situation never interfere even though their boss is being marched to his certain death
>Venom still survives all of that because Kojima wrote himself into a corner and made Psycho Mantis switch side to save Venom in the nick of time
I'm curious what the original plan was, because this whole sequence of events is bluntly moronic.
Probably the exact same reason
happened. Development hell pushing the devs to rush the ending while still trying to cover it up with stylistic choices.
>is that a string of poorly thought out contrivances... in MY MGS game?
the difference is that the other ones are due to kojima's autistic writing. This one is clearly due to no budget.
It was actually a Skyrim reference
Venom is literally me, no joke.
Kojima is a hack
>Kojima is a h-ACK!
>take out iDroid
>Skull Face doesn't give you shit for being rude
One job, Hackjima-san.
I'll be honest, I played MGS at my cousins house as a kid, Portable Ops was the first one I owned, then 5 I played until after this Metal Gear fight. I had no idea what story was meant to be going on.
Skullface is underutilized.
Why do Ocelot and Skullface LARP as cowboys? They are not even Americans.
>ocelot and scarface roleplaying scenes from leone movies back in fox
cute
kojima is illuminati. the uninitiated are not supposed to understand.
>villain explain himself
>snake just sits there without uttering a word
