Duoing fissure with the AI set up as a barrage team was one of the most fun things in GW1. i cant imagine doing dungeons with 4 blizzard made tard-AIs to be near it.
The majority of people in MMOs are old fricks and ERPers who don't have the patience or time to deal with others. Slowed down or single player content is much more appealing for buyers.
>offline wow
If they actually made a remade the story into something coherent you could play through in one go I would absolutely play it. Modern wow sucks because the story is absolute dog shit and the players are obnoxious
>tank dungeons in retail and literally nothing you do matters, threat is instantly on you and nobody ever breaks it >tank dungeons in classic and motherfricking morons open up their aoes 2 seconds after pull and you have to chase mobs around like an butthole trying to get white damage on them while listening to your character repeat I don't have enough rage for that
It's for me anon, I'm who it's for.

Yup, these posters are typical pug tanks. Put you on my ignore list, eat shit crybaby gays
>can't wait 5 seconds for tank to get threat and rage >inevitable result is tank's fault
Yup, this guy definitely played classic at launch. There's you and two other dps, dipshit, my taunt doesn't have 3 charges on it and you and your dps friends are all moronic.
Me. I don't want to deal with the horrible garbage people from random queue. As a tank, it will probably be a lot faster to run with NPCs than actual people.
It's for normal dungeons and currently solely Dragonflight which is being made the new player experience next expansion. Presumably it's for new players to learn/see the dungeon content given wow's had a big problem with new players getting kicked from dungeons for years.
If anything, it's a good choice.
They should just make a normal singleplayer RPG set in the Warcraft universe, they should have done this a long time ago, but I am not sure the company has what it takes to make such a game and have it be good also.
Isn't that covered by having the Duty Roulette cover both old and current content? As far as I understood the NPC party members are for those who don't want to wait and antisocial spergs?
if even a niche ass game that announced its sunsetting can get the occasional newbie wandering in, something like WoW certainly will have some coming in
Probably just to add a feature for the benefit of higher ups or shareholders breathing down their necks, like new cars with useless features nobody asked for. Queue times don't justify it anyway.
>xiv adds npc support to it's dungeons - OMFG YOSHI P CUM IN MY FRICKING MOUTH >wow adds npc support to it's dungeons - heh, xiv wins again, have a nice day, wowtards
I genuinely don't understand.
WoW players have every bit of mockery they receive now coming to them. Only boomers remember how fricking insufferable WoW players used to be when someone tried to discuss literally any other MMO.
i didn't try wow for an extremely long time cause of my friends would constantly talk shit about any mmo that wasn't wow and even though maybe they had a point since a lot of them aren't around or are just complete shells of their former selves i still didn't want to hear about it. a lot of them are still absolutely livid about xiv not dying though
Yeah XIV has done a number on them. They've been calling it dead for years yet it still keeps doing its own thing and growing. It's never gonna reach WoW's heights in numbers so I'm not sure why they are so weird about it.
I remember that my friends didn't want to try any mmo that I played because it wasn't WoW. I also remember the mmos I liked getting destroyed because wow players would try it, demand to make it like wow, then ignoring it to play wow anyway.
Something similar happened to Torchlight 2. The beta was legitimately great, then the diablo 3 gay crowd tried it, demanded it be changed, then never bought it and we were left with a piece of shit trash game. I legitimately wish nothing but suffering for all blizz games communities.

This is such a moronic argument it doesn't really deserve a real response but here we go:
People don't like Criterion or Criterion Savage because they are just aren't fun. Most people aren't into wiener and ball torture when all they wanted was more midcore content, more challenging dungeons but not dungeons that fricked you in the ass repeatedly with no lube.
The rewards being absolute dogshit just further push people from even bothering.

Games in that stage of un-life are all about a few dedicated whales. You have small team responsible only for maintenance and the occasional new cash shop item, make them responsible for multiple games, and things can run quite cheaply. I'm sure one of the MMO youtubers covered that topic at some point.
I think Path of Exile was originally designed for 10.000 players. Not concurrent, but monthly.
Nah usually those are autists who are obsessed with hating FF acting like they are in some war. There's also a lot of overlap between WoW players and FFXIV players nowadays so actual posters tend to contrast and compare.
Kind of amusing how the two communities refuse to acknowledge said overlap though.
Funny thing is a majority of ffxiv legitimately don’t care any about wow and just enjoy playing their game but some wow players always have to attack ffxiv. I still can’t believe their are wow player calling ffxiv a furry game when their is one furry race that no one plays and wow has 4 of them

Basically this, there was a time when a Ganker thread was an instant ban/removal of that thread. WoWBlack folk back in the day were genuinely awful people that wanted everything to be WoW, and they still do, they've just moved over to FFXIV as of Stormblood and completely shat that up as well. So now we have FFXIV-WoWfugee Black folk shitting everything up, the people that lost out are the originalgays of both franchises. Same thing happened to MH with World.
Pre ARR was literally 10 FFXI boomers arguing with each other and 1 person pretending to enjoy the game. Having to stun Ifrit to death by throwing rocks at him was not fun, also making a bad faith argument because you found the game/are apart of the community that shat it up is sad. If you read the reply chain the summary is the worst cultists of the genre hopped over (in my opinion) some time around Stormblood and the worst of the lot after that. You playing WoW isn't the issue, it's the general quality of the people that jump to whatever the FOTM is until the next thing comes along. I don't begrudge people that came over earlier because WoW was generally in a better state, I do begrudge people that jumped over at the last minute and then get angry when people ask them to stop shitting up the place. Even the original /vg/ ebins were far more tolerable compared to the newbies.

Thanks I completely locked that away as a pld and being a stun bot
I honestly don’t mind it because doing dungeons with players should be much faster than doing it with bot, at least that’s how it is in ffxiv. I think I can count on one hand that I had a dungeon take much longer than normal in the 10 years I been playing.
I don't blame anyone still subbed to modern WoW for not wanting to play with others there I've experienced it myself. You might as well be playing with bots in normal dungeons because people literally treat each other worse than ghosts Dark Souls, infact they completely blank each other. It's very strange.
Retail WoW nowadays is literally 90% solo content, the people playing that shit game are transmog farmers. So this is why Blizzard is implementing this, they know the vast majority of retail players are anti-social morons that if they were to ever try a raid, would get furious if someone told them what to do
Shouldn't be too hard. FF14 is pretty much already a single player experience. Just make a single player game and add some npc characters moving around and doing the same stuff you do like hanging around town playing music emoting etc. , walking around between auction houses / crafting stations with a simulated market, entering and leaving gates, etc. it wouldn't be any different from a real MMO.
Someone did this with classic EQ on eqemu a long time ago but I can't find the forum that had all the files anymore was actually fricking insanely cool and this was done back in like 2012
its for homosexuals like you unironically. the type of person who screams at a newbie for wasting 6 seconds of his life for not min/maxing his character or mapping out the dungeon prior to running it. who thinks video games are real life and just not entertainment
I'll tell you. One, FFXIV has done this for quite awhile, as as Guild Wars, and a few others. I don't exactly hate the concept, provided its balanced well but there IS a difference now. >Who is it for?
Let me tell you about my dad in his 70s. He's been playing MMOs since Burning Crusade WoW. Aside from me troubleshooting his UI addons and answering particular questions, he played pretty independently. He liked to just basically complete all the quests, see the stories and the like. He had max level characters, multiple ones that were fun playing differently. However, he did not play the serious raiding end-game stuff. He'd run dungeons if introduced to them for the story, but he always played DPS because he didn't really want the responsibility to tank or heal - it was offputting enough when other players would basically power through the dungeons, not talk and just keep running. He never thought people were actively being jerks, but simply they played a lot more than he did and it wasnormal, but it as still offputting. Eventually he dropped WoW around the same time I did, actually a little later into BFA ,when the amount of grindy FOMO shit made him feel that he couldn't just come on and make progress as easily, and people got even more up their own ass about group content (including daily quest open world bosses etc).
Once I went back to FFXIV (I never played much but kept an account since 1.0, played some ARR and then went back for Shadowbringers end ) I suggested he give it a try too and he like me found there were some things to like but others he didn't. He did like that he could complete a duty/storyline required dungeon with NPC followers, so nobody would be b***hing about him not going fast enough or otherwise dealing with the autismos. This kind of feature he'd like in WoW, as even though he played back in the day, but people changed an so did the pace of the game.
>so nobody would be b***hing about him not going fast enough or otherwise dealing with the autismos.
Oh yeah that fricking sucks too. Like you want to watch the STORY content in the STORY based MMORPG but the cutscenes are like 20 minutes long and people go REEE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WATCH IT ON YOUTUBE like that isn't something you could do yourself without ever having touched the game.
Nobody does this in nu-XIV. You should have seen the cutscene complaining in Lost Ark. Cutscenes were 1 minute at most and people would rage 5 seconds in. Korean MMOcucks are a whole other creature.
Yeah, this is definitely an issue. Even when it wasn't cinematics but in WoW where there was like an NPC standing there talking or something early on or at the end etc.
Nobody does this in nu-XIV. You should have seen the cutscene complaining in Lost Ark. Cutscenes were 1 minute at most and people would rage 5 seconds in. Korean MMOcucks are a whole other creature.
From what he tells me and what I've seen myself, in XIV its not so muchpeople outright complaints but rather they just move on. Youre therewatching the thing and then you get the pop-up that the group has entered a boss fight and would you like to be ported (which is a great fricking feature I admit)
Bots are subotmial and unironically make you actually enjoy the dungeon more if playing for the first time as its not over too fast.
I always do FFXIV dungeons whit bots first because i get to actually enjoy the visuals or read the snippets of lore.
NA players don’t have the patience, especially if you’re tanking/healing, especially the dungeons that have back to back notes and shit. I’ll usually play through first time/second time with NPCs for this reason.
hahaha even playing a tank (nominally setting the pace for the group) on release day in NA in any mmo and slowing down slower than world first pace is asking for some nosepicker dps to start pulling mobs prematurely.
MMOs have always faced the harsh truth of the same thing Dark Souls and the like faced. Unless you literally force PVEgays to play with onlinegays kicking and screaming, they will go into their own little bubble and have fun while onlinegays are too unlikeable to tolerate each other.
Casual PVEgays will follow tier lists and the like half the time too anyway, that's more of something that too many people do nowadays, can't avoid that. The REAL issue is that there aren't enough people that want the old-school MMO experience, there's like three somewhat large groups in WOW, Albion and EVE, and a tiny few private servers like RO and FF XI, but not enough for the "everyone is forced to play together and talk together" experience old MMOs had, back then casuals had no choice but to play along, now they can go "frick off I'll play retail WOW/ FF XIV/ ESO/ TOR instead"
Yeah, I used to be all about playing online 20 years ago, but these days every game is overrun with metahomosexualry. The game is already solved before you even start playing. You're expected to have read the strats, downloaded the addons that spell everything out for you, and already know all the shortcuts to experience the least amount of the dungeon as possible. Nobody talks, everyone just rushes through as quick as possible. It already feels like you're playing with bots, which in some cases you probably are.
At least with something like what's in the OP, I could actually experience the game and be allowed to go at my own pace and learn through the game itself.
Society changed, people don't play MMOs anymore, for a variety of reasons.
All MMOs are dying, even the most popular ones fail to hold a candle to shit like Regnum or Grenado Espada or whatever other rando shit MMOs that were out in the 90s-00s.
Even going F2P isn't enough these days.
Back in the fricking day, you could play just about any rando shit MMO and there'd always be players. Sure, the shit MMOs were just full of Chinese/Korean bots farming drops and gold or whatever, but there was still a sizeable playerbase for even the shittiest of MMOs, F2P or otherwise, and everyone talked to each other too.
Didn't matter if it was one of those Korean MMOs with the refining system where everything under +20 is completely unviable and stock refining at +10 was already a 100% chance to break without paid materials that cost a dollar a pop to raise the success chance by 2%, the game would still have a six-figure user count.
Its not that society is changing, its that back then we did not have any alternative. There were barely any other free games online that would have a healthy online community, so if you wanted to play online with others while also being able to just chill and chat, you had to go for some shitty asian f2p mmo.
Then we got social media, which fully fulfilled the need for social interaction, and we got mobile games which fill the predatory, grindy f2p niche.
I mean, when it comes to WoW especially they've removed all the social features of the game so completely that this is barely different from running dungeons with real people anyway.
the majority of nu wow players are all mentally ill trannies and fat women who only play dress up with their elves and buy mtx from the store every month. Its essentially gatcha anyway
Most people play MMOs as single player games.
That is ultimately what killed the MMO: The person it was trying to appeal to, someone who wants to play in a big group of random people, gradually stopped playing these games.
Everyone who plays these games now only cares about quests and raiding dungeons, and they only want to raid dungeons with friends. You don't need a big open world or a massively multiplayer RPG to accomplish either of those. That's why Genshin was one of the most played games on Earth a few years back.
It's also why classes like the Healer and Tank are the least played classes in MMOs: no one wants to be the side character in THEIR story even though the point is to play it as a team. So why not just have an NPC do all of that?
>Their friends
Ironically, people are now less likely to make friends than ever because of this.
I think there's another problem here. I admit I'm an oldgay MMO loving anon. I've played since UO and EQ (technically M59 and Underlight, not counting MUD/MOOs. Amazingly, Underlight is STILL OPERATING. Check it out if you want something ancient as frick that's unlike pretty much anything else around). I love MMOs as virtual worlds, immersion, playing around a lot of other people.
However, the people who have, since the "Death and Taxes / Fires of Heaven" days , designed how MMOs were supposed to go, were not just about playing with tons of others. >Exclusionists
These are the people who don't just want content to be hard or unique rewards or whatnot, but the point is nobody who is less hardcore than they should be able to get it, or anything close to it. Everyone else is simply there to ooh and ahhh at the gathering spots that you have the super rare armor or the legendary sword or the one per server mount or whatever the frick . So the game is designed for those who make it a job >Tedium
The second component to the above is usually saying "you can't make it easy, you have to make it HARD WORK etc" but usually its not work, its simply time consuming tedium. A raid boss with a difficult series of attacks that your team needs to dodge and counter can be argued to be hard work. The same raid boss who requires 6 months to get "keyed" to access the boss, and then months and months of farming to get access to resist gear to keep you from getting one shot isn't hard work its time gated tedium. Much the same that any sort of "raid finder/dungeon finder, rep grinds not being as punishing, things being account wide etc' are decried as "ruining" the game when they do nothing of the sort. Its usually people who fall into the above category who want lots of time-gated content and grind.
>Ironically, people are now less likely to make friends than ever because of this.
Oh I agree for sure. The best part of old MMOs was the open feeling everyone's friend group had, because people are pragmatists and will group up with someone whom they don't even know if they wanted to get something done, and sometimes it works out and they make new friends, making bigger friend circles.
Then all of the mechanics to keep friend circles as tiny as possible got introduced, finders, cross-instance raids so you'll never see your party members again, quests designed to be completed with one person, all chat and global chat being heavily restricted to regions. All of it comes together to ensure only friends anyone makes they take with them into the game. And thus makes the game basically the same as Vindictus and Diablo with human-shaped NPCs around doing the same thing that you'll never interact with.
Why just not greate a physics based game centered around raiding? Have healing projectiles, have auto targeting at a huge premium and then have it be able to be blocked, have bosses throw players around etc etc
Why wouldn't this work? When you hop into the game you should be raiding
This is R*ddit:The opinion,onionman.
Wildstar died because it wanted to be a man's MMO but had a shit goofy art direction aimed at kids. Anyone around at the time will tell you the ads were cringe as frick. I remember seeing ads pop up in its heyday at 13/14 yo and saying out loud; "that looks gay".
so you were and edgelord and didnt even play it. Why comment then when you have no clue?
People actually playing had issues because the dungeons were already too hard (like challenge mode in wow) and were required to enter raids.
From what I remember of wildstar it required you to interrupt one spell like 4 times before it actually stopped so no wonder people felt it was too hard because people can't even interrupt once in wow.

the biggest deal was they had ground patterns on roids. mandala level patterns even worse than lost ark, where you had to position correctly ahead of time to make it. And the dungeons were on a timer like m+ and you needed to reach a minimum score in all dungeons to unlock raids.
Desperate raiders then carried avg players through the dungeons just to fill raids but naturally these players also failed in raids again and then people gave up.

I mean, I personally lost interest because the PVP was the worst I've ever seen. But I didn't give it another try because, the next WoW patch came out. Like every other MMO.
legit answer for ff14? dps queues, especially if content isnt fresh. you can either spend 15+ mins waiting or get in right away and do what you need to do. meanwhile healers and tanks get insta pops or have to wait less than 5 mins. WoW I have no idea but i remember the last time i played a few years back people kept quiting out of the dungeon. I had to run it multiple times until i finally got through it completely without people quitting.
This is ultimately the reason these MMOs suck, too: They make tons of content for the most fun classes but the classes everyone needs to succeed like Tank and Healer get scraps, in some cases become unplayable, from expansion to expansion. I remember the thorough fricking Scholar got just a few years ago. During the era FF14 needed healers and tanks BAD. And no one wanted to do it because who wants to play a suboptimal class?
nobody talks in wow anyway so this is better than entering a dungeon for the first time and before you have even finished zoning in the tank has already pulled half the instance
wow community is fricking awful and instantly leaves if you are new or make a mistake once so pick your poison doubt this shit will be usable for mythic+ anyway
If you' can't see that they're just testing the waters then you're blind as frick Black person
Coincidentally the introduced the concept of a Warband in the next expansion
Gee I wonder if these two things could go together in some way
warband is just sharing progress between your characters. Even if they let you use alts as NPC's - it doesn't affect the core argument - if you cant use it in relevant content its just a gimmick for turbo casuals.
>people can now do soloable useless dungeons solo
idgi. there are people who are actually happy for this too. why? to get some shitty blues you dont need?
What MMOs still currently running have that whole necessary cooperation that they were originally built on?
rofl
Guild Wars was truly ahead of its time.
Damn that's sad. The server I played on 15 years ago was pretty empty but I still have fond memories of that time.
>ff14 adds companion dungeons >Ganker soys out >wow adds followers to address complaints from people that every player just wants to rush through it >wow ded
I never expected trannies to use logic for anything but here we go again.
This webm was taken at 2am 4 months into a patch btw. Kek.
Running a dungeon with real people is the exact same thing though. You navigate a matchmaking menu and get thrown in with a group of ritalin addicts just wants to wordlessly speedrun to the end for the 100th time that evening because MMOs are by design unrewarding and disrespectful of your time.
The whole genre is a daycare for dysfunctional losers who think time investment is an acceptable substitute for accomplishment.
Yes but does it let you also go with friends? This was my problem with the system in 14, since sometimes members of our guild wouldn't be online and a friend and I wanted to do dungeons without the hassle of randos and we just couldn't.
t.Tank main
WoW has never been an MMORPG. It's just a lobby system where you look for players to do dungeons with. Content is never played with more than 25 players, which isn't very "massively multiplayer" if you ask me. Your average TF2 server has more players than that and nobody's arguing that TF2 is an MMO.
I often went to Stormwind on my undead rogue and killed some of the hundreds of people there. Leveling and pvp out in the seamless open world is the real MMO.
Leveling is just a single player RPG that other people are playing at the same time as you.
MMOs were always supposed to be a framework where players can make their own fun and content. Minecraft is probably the best MMO right now and I'm not joking when I say that.
It's far from singleplayer, you'll have to deal with contested spawns, group quests and involuntary pvp if you play on a pvp server. People have to organize to get rid of griefers so players can level safely, The pvp realms on classic are way more MMO than the later expansions.
>People have to organize to get rid of griefers
Uhhh anon you know that players can just respawn when they die right? And not only that, it's just not worth anyone's effort. Max level rogues can camp lowbies with complete impunity.
It did it nearly a decade before XIV did, yes.
And in typical XIV fashion, it stripped out all of the soul and flavor when it copied it from XIV.
But then again XIV is a game nearly entirely devoid of soul or flavor as a whole and has more in common with a rhythm game than an RPG.
Modern GAAS games spend a ridiculous amount of time and resources attempting to protect players from 'toxicity' and this is just another facet of that.
For some reason, if you keep a zombie game running for ten or twenty years, it starts to fill up with dunning kruger frickheads who have too much free time.
Seeing as how a big complaint from new players is that they join and dungeon and the group have run ahead and cleared it before they even realize what is going on. This makes a lot of sense.
>actual party members that actually pay attention during encounters / don't go afk non stop for hours at a time / dont engage in screaming fits for bullshit reasons
sounds great
They're pretty accurate to real players.
The tank can be changed to always run ahead of the party
the healer bot is always jumping around and currently if you wipe, all the bots rage-quit the dungeon.
>d-d-dungeons and R-R-R-RAIDING IS WHAT WOW IS ABOUT >ITS HARDCORE RAIDING POST YOUR LOGS PLEB H-HEH
actually game is so braindead bots can play it for you instead
holy lol
Didn't all of Dragonflight's raid content get made easier, because people complained Shadowlands raid content was too hard?
Painsmith was the great Sanctum filter and then Halondrus took over 350+ attempts to kill it on mythic.
Painsmith's hitboxes were bugged and Halondrus was intentionally overtuned so the devs would have more time to work on the later bosses. Didn't matter in the end considering the raid was tuned for timegated content that wasn't available anyway
Raid difficulty is based around when it comes out and how much time they want to be sucked up.
Raids around holidays are usually "cut short" with nerfs to bosses should they be deemed "over tuend"
Last time this happened it was Christmas holiday when the expansion launched. Now its coming up to Thanksgiving so i expect the raid to be over by wed.
Sharding and dungeon finder did kill the MMO part ages ago. Not having everyone on one single server where you know who's who just makes the social aspect almost completely disappear.
Yeah, that was more or less what I meant.
Before the dungeon finder, you actually had to talk to people to form groups for stuff. You'd recognize some names after a while, you knew which guys run competent groups that can clear the dungeon effectively, you knew who is selling the mats you need for your crafts and so on.
With the dungeon finder, you might as well have been playing with NPCs. You saw them once, through no particular effort of your own, and then probably never again.
I played 16 hours a day and I never recognized more than perhaps 3 names
it was an absolute crapshoot and most runs were disasters because you would find out 1 of the 5 had never played the instance before or sometimes even bought their account and had never played their class before
yea, really "fun"
wow was the gayest thing I ever did in my life and I look back on those years in shame
i miss old mmorpg map design. now everything is a railroad that uses every inch of the map instead of letting there be hidden and neat little locations you only find by choosing to explore. the design between old and modern questing is so insanely different these days that zoomers can't even comprehend the freeform choice of "i'll do this quest next instead of these other ones" or "i'll go to this entire other zone to do some quests instead for a while". you can't enjoy what you never knew, i guess.
I don't know why there's never been a middle. It's either >SPEND 100 HOURS TO MAKE A LITTLE PROGRESSION AND DYING COSTS YOU 10 HOURS
and >do 30 second quest to recieve 10000000 EXP
supporting the Massive part of the MMO means giving players the tools and the motivation to get together and create their own fun. This is bad for business you instead want them queued up to purchase next thing. You want them looking to the company for content not to the other player.
nothing wrong with making the game playable solo as long as the multiplayer option is still there
its been a staple of online ARPGs for decades that you can play either solo or in group
where even is the difference between a wow-mmorpg and a lost ark-mmorpg these days? just the camera perspective?
FFXI. You absolutely have to team up or run an extra 1-5 accounts yourself with other people who are also running 1-5 extra accounts to get even entrylevel endgame done.
Unfortunately, because the game is so old it's very much a "it gets good 1000 hours in" kind of game if you are used to the pacing of modern games. Most people won't really want to team up to help out with older content generally and you will be unable to interact with other players in a meaningful way as far as gameplay is concerned until you complete a major expansion (Rhapsodies of Vanadiel) which itself will take you anywhere from inside of a month if you know what you are doing/have done it before or up to like sixth months if you aren't quick to learn the antiquated combat/gameplay/ui systems in place.
However, if the game is your cup of tea it will likely become one of if not your favorite games. There's nothing else like it out there and there never will be anything else even close to it.
It's a PS2 game older than some of the posters here that has better cutscenes and cinematography and music than most modern games.
It's really a shame that more people didn't play it during its prime.
>release updates that slowly killed the multiplayer / social aspect of your mmo over the years >then release updates to make the game playable solo as a "fix"
why do companies do this?
They realized that gacha rakes in way more money than MMOs ever did so now they're slowly turning retail WoW into a singleplayer gacha game.
They released all those classic servers so MMO players could still have a home while this is happening.
The barrier for entry is too low, it makes playing with randoms impossible because 90% of them are just straight up fricking moronic. Chinks, BR's, Indos, Russians. All sorts of thirdies, typical substandard mutts everywhere just being fricking stupid and making it impossible to enjoy a multiplayer game unless you create your own little walled garden and fence them out.
Fricking good, the "community" is absolutely insufferable in MMOs these days and dungeon runs are a chore, the less some Black personhomosexuals distract you from playing the game the better.
Now make this feature use your own characters as your bots and we're golden.
I want to be annoyed by this but its such a nothingburger in the context of retail that its just meaningless. Regular dungeon runs might as well be done with bots already for all the social interaction you get out of them, and the only time anyone ever talks is to b***h about something.
>Be me >Have severe social anxiety >Be very, very bad at confrontation >Decide to try WoW for the first time a week ago >6 days later >Still haven't done a single dungeon because I'm too afraid that I suck and people in my party will be mean to me about it
With this feature I might actually do some dungeons.
NTA but it's not fun playing dungeons because only social interaction you will get is either silence or verbal abuse. You can do them, but it won't be fun.
Getting shouted at in a video game isn't dangerous, yet you treat it like it is. Just get over it.

Running off new players is how you get a dying mmo. You NEED new blood in your mmo or it will slowly die out.
I've probably done 100+ dungeons in the last few months and the only verbal abuse I've gotten is one person making fun of me for playing worgen. I've made like 10 ish bnet friends, and usually chat with the other player during the dungeon. I think you're likely autistic.
>WoW players are complete fricking buttholes to newbies.
I tried WoW over the past week and was shouted at for not knowing what to do, told I was a fricking idiot saw multiple people arguing time after time, dungeons breaking apart almost instantly. I've never touched the game before, this was the first time I played it what the frick is this?
I keep hearing about how the game is good new, but actually playing it and seeing for myself I'm so confused how it got big if this is how new players are treated.

It wasn't always this bad. The reasons it ended up like this are complicated and there's a lot to it but basically it's a combination of design decisions by Blizzard that made being an butthole to other players have less consequences (cross-realm, which meant players and guilds could no longer become known for their bad behavior within the community of their server and therefore have other players avoid and ostracize them for it, for example) and a general lack of punishment/enforcement for players being buttholes (Blizzard generally will ban you for saying one of their 'no-no words', but they won't punish or warn people for antisocial behavior at all).
This has caused a culture of being an butthole to everyone to develop within the game's community over the years until it just became the norm.
Most other MMOs at least have systems in place for either punishing overtly antisocial/rude behavior or rewarding social, supportive behavior. WoW doesn't, in fact you generally actually BENEFIT from being an butthole in WoW.

>and a general lack of punishment/enforcement for players being buttholes (Blizzard generally will ban you for saying one of their 'no-no words', but they won't punish or warn people for antisocial behavior at all).
Because it can be abused, and without an appeals system would lead to mass quitting. (There would be no appeals system because that needs employees)

That does not get people to interact more when they do instances.
The ONLY that makes conversation happen is quite literally slowing the game down to a near crawl.
Why? Because you have nothing to do while youre waiting for people to Med and regen and set up the next group.
Nobody wants to play that game anymore outside some crazy people, not to mention they dont even make those style of mmos anymore.

Since nobody wants to play tank, waiting for another tank will waste 10-15+ minutes of their time. So you blackmail them by threatening to leave. They most likely agree, and if they don't they get mass reported and banned afterwards.
The difference here is that commendations literally happen AFTER the instance is finished.
You can't pull that 'or I'll leave' shit when it's already done and everyone's already leaving themselves.
That's why you hit them with the inappropriate name special for not obeying orders. Works every time since blizzard doesn't check reports.

Seeing Last Laugh made me smile from the memory, then I read it.
The funny thing is these lifers will advise you to use guilds like this, to gear you up, and opportunistically drop them after they've served their purpose. It's just a completely different worldview, and not at all an MMORPG one
I've seen a healer get kicked from a normal mode leveling dungeon because the tank was higher level and was jumping ahead all the time, and the healer couldn't follow
I don't like interacting with people in multiplayer games because they're almost always buttholes.
I actually have never had any problems socializing and interacting IRL, I even have a customer-facing job.
The difference is that in real life most people aren't total fricking dickheads who literally only ever insult, belittle or try to boss you around.
It's not that I'm afraid of the interaction. It's that I have learned from experience that interacting with people in multiplayer games is almost guaranteed to be an unpleasant, shitty experience.
you dont have to be as nice as you think in xiv but a lot of people act like if you can't talk to the average person like you do in almost any thread on Ganker then the game is overbearing
You can't solve the latency problem.
The real solution is just to make gameplay slower and more intricate instead of wanting realtime - which is just going to require instancing - or that mindless tab-targeting macro-driven crap.
It can be solved by separating the visuals from the interactions, you can have players on a layer that you only can see and chat with and less people on a different layer that you can actually interact with. Devs have yet to implement this solution in any grand MMO game that I'm aware of but I'm sure they will.
WoW players are the reason that the game will always be stuck finding new blood. The game can improve narratively, have an amazing new story, new content, new things to do, but the players, the community is still the same. They didn't change and THAT is the biggest problem as a newbie going into WoW how addicted and sweaty WoW players are, completely unfriendly to newblood. It's one of the reasons why FFXIV became so popular, even though the game is objectively a worse game than WoW, the community is far friendly to newbies, it just is and if you think it isn't you've not gone through both games in the last two years as a fresh, brand new player.
the game forces it. Normal dungeons & raids are easy and you can buy gear from tp without RMT. So ff has no hurdles, you can play with anyone almost all content
Meanwhile in wow you need to read guides and grind gear to be viable.
The problem is you're outnumbered by the gearscore lifers. As you're explaining things to the freshie, the rest of your group has already votekicked him.
ffxiv is the least newbie friendly game of all time, you need to play though literally 100s of hours of complete fricking linear slop before you're at allowed to sniff the fact that it's an MMO
Coop content doesn't make it an mmo. RPG mechanics (I literally can't remember any other than the fact you level up), an economy (never had any reason to look at this because the content is all trivial) and personal choice in your adventure (literally none whatsoever) is what makes an MMO an MMO and FFxiv either has none of that, or gates all that behind 100s of hours of the worst, most inane slop I've ever played in a game. wow narrative is just as fricking stupid, but at least you can easily ignore it.
if you remove dungeons&raids as mmo content then you exclude all modern mmorpgs. The only one might be gw2 which allows doing public quests in zergs open world.
moron, I'm saying dungeons and raids on their own don't make an mmo. Vermintide isn't an mmo just because it has pve coop content. An mmo could be pure pvp. What you need is personal adventure in a shared world, FFXIV is a single player linear RPG that happens to have coop content and social spaces.

and i was saying thats a pointless criteria because glorified dungeon lobbies is what modern themepark mmos are.
You understand the difference between the community and the game? Read my post again, WoW's game what's there is good, what's not good are the people who play it and completely block it as a new player coming into the game by being completely sweaty.
The Sprout system in FFXIV is by and far vastly superior to what you'll find in WoW and most mmo's.
The irony is the noobs ARE the toxic players in wow, not the pros. The vast majority of bad treatment happens in a leveling dungeon or LFR, and nobody with friends or an ounce of skill uses LFR to gear.
This, even when I frick up in higher keys, no one really complains or screams, but in low keys or worse, leveling content, mexicans and morons cry and b***h constantly.
You can raid solo in different ways: >playerbots: more popular in vanilla, but I think wrath is getting there >autobalance: configurable plugin that scale dungeon/raid mobs stats depending on how many players are in the raid group, this is the most popular solution for wrath >gm commands/modding: use cheats or mod your character to the point where you can solo raids without either bots or scaling
Last time I played a classic repack the bots wouldn't go inside dungeons and all it did was make you have x5 the stats or something stupid. Can you finally dungeon/raid with bots?
Dunno, I've played a classic or bot repack, but I've seen bots (without inflated stats) kill Grobbulus in Naxx so if they're that advanced (I can't remember if it was a tech showcase or just footage from a module) they should be able to handle dungeons.
Oh that's not the issue, the issue is they wouldn't actually enter the dungeon while in a party with me.
That was like 6-7 months ago though, did they change it?
>private servers leech off of blizzard's creation for decades >"nooooooo blizzard can't just take inspiration from some ideas people shoehorned into their own game"
>>"nooooooo blizzard can't just take inspiration from some ideas people shoehorned into their own game"
I wish they were more brazen about it and outsourced it to the more talented private server community instead of doing it in house
>the more talented private server community
If they were actually "more talented" they would've created their own, better game, instead of leeching off of someone else's creation like parasitic locusts.
>If they were actually "more talented" they would've created their own, better game,
What a stupid argument. An individual can be more talented at specific aspects of game design compared to someone working at an AAA studio. Laying the groundwork and improving existing concepts are also different skills. If an individual is talented at something you can appreciate their talent for what it is instead of brushing it of saying "wow what a fricking hack, sure there's a consensus that they improved something but they're not the CEO of a multibillion dollar company so they're a fricking parasite" >instead of leeching off of someone else's creation like parasitic locusts.
You say this like the majority of Blizzard's staff aren't new people that had absolutely nothing to do with the initial creation of the game and the development during its golden years.
>new zone comes out >named all over >people killing them on spawn with mini raids >two weeks later >nobody killing any of them anymore >they don't scale for some dumbass reason so a lot of them cant be soloed and or its just not worth the time
This is one way to solve the problem
Because they were catering to a tiny fraction of the overall playerbase, way fewer than could financially sustain a real mmo that's actually being developed.
unironically a good thing with how bad wow has become
when was the last time you sent a message to someone in a wow dungeon? everyone who plays is already an NPC
better question, when was the last time you played wow at all? why would anyone even still be playing this shit?
I disagree, not sure what you guys remember but the amount of talking is exactly the same as its always been, even gotten better in some ways, like people saying thanks at the end of a dungeon since legion, or that nobody posts meters any more
I legitimately make friends pugging end game content all the time. Leveling content is autopilot slop and it's a shame leveling is so fricking bad now, but the end game stuff is highly social.
I'm having fun playing wow. It's the still best mmo (for like 3-6 weeks after a patch comes out, then you should unsub unless you're ERPer or collector autist)
Don't worry I'm sure the game's goin F2P any day no-ACK >Players will no longer be allowed to purchase a WoW Token from the Auction House or the in-game Shop for gold if they have not spent real money to purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time (a “Time Limited License”) since 2017.
I just want an updated MMO with monk or enchanter class. With fishing and armor that doesnt look like a clown costume. Something I can solo if desired when no one is on but group up when they are for faster and better rewards. Basically Everquest re-skinned with updated fishing. Project 1999 is the best I can hope for.
I'll also accept a MMOFPS as long as the buildings were not designed like absolute shit (looking at you Planetside 2). The glory days of a true MMOs like Planetside 1 seem to be behind us.
World of Warcrafts end game is all failed e-sports the majority of players don't wanna play. >M+ a failed e-sport >raids a failed e-sport >arena a failed 40min que e-sport >class balance is balanced around the failed arena 40min que e-sport
This means to the majority of players there is no end game in retail WoW. The failed e-sport has crippled the game so badly Timewalking now rewards heroic raid gear, the last month of each patch is nothing but Timewalking for heroic raid gear. World quests and Timewalking now give vault rewards. NPC followers are being added to the game for players to have an easier time getting into this content.
That wasn't the point of my post, my point was that EVERYTHING is shifting to free heroic raid gear and timewalking/heroic group content and why is this? Its because its obviously the highest content the majority of players interact with meaning the rest of the systems which rewards BETTER gear has failed the players.
Well considering every group requires people have item levels 20 levels above the gear that drops in there to do runs.
Last patch i saw people asking for 335 i level to run normal mode.
Gatekeeping by Ilevel has killed the game for most people.
>Play at the end of a patch so you're way behind and everryone is overgeared >play a role no one wants >get filtered
Shocking. They soft reset progression every 6 months, you're meant to play then. Right now you can easily get into M+ or raids in open world charity gear.
So why would i bother playing then in the first place? My sub money counts as well bro. I don't have to follow your autistic rules on when and where i should play. And there is nothing from Blizzards side blocking me. >Frick u, i got mine
This attitude is what killed WoW. It made them introduce the """""much hated""""" LFR and D tools.
Back in Vanillia you took the guy you meet wearing whites. Now you have to take the guy who massively overgears the place, knows perfect tactics from day 1 and can pull off 1st kill level guild rotations, using engi gear.
it is not how WoW was designed to be played. it is what you wanted it to be. i dissagree.
Because a good portion of the playerbase has social anxiety and/or are moronic. The end game hard content showers you in good gear, and the open world welfare drip feeds you good gear. This way no lifers can do heroic splits and gear up characters instantly, normal players can play the end game content and gear up their main and a few alts over the course of the first few months of a patch, and old women and autists can log in once a week to post in trade chat and do their weekly welfare quests to get a slow drip of gear. Its so that all types of players can make the number go up.
>ff14 adds companion dungeons >Ganker soys out >wow adds followers to address complaints from people that every player just wants to rush through it >wow ded
I never expected trannies to use logic for anything but here we go again.
This webm was taken at 2am 4 months into a patch btw. Kek.
your a gayoot and so are ff14 players, both mmos consist of tribal homosexuals like yourself.
It made sense when you could use those items to get an advantage in pvp but you can't even do that anymore. Anyone that cares about these items now are just chasing virtual status symbols, it's a mental illness that Blizzard instilled in them from a young age.

>YOU STILL PLAY AND TALK ABOUT GAME?! STOP PLAYING TALKING ABOUT GAME!!! I AM ANGRY FOR NO REASON!!
I honestly question why people like you even come into these threads if you hate this game so much.
I still don't know how WOW and its inspired MMOs took on. Maybe early in they were different but now they all seem like inferior single player RPGs. It's multiplayer in the way that shopping for groceries is multiplayer.
It was fun design but they dropped the ball over their Icefrog seethe. The future of it was clearly in player-made content. They have been whinging about not being able to develop fast enough for their sloppers to ride their coaster forever, so instead they try dragging it out and making it a miserable slog.
>The future of it was clearly in player-made content
They should have jumped on that train years ago, host some official servers while also leasing the right to host your own and develop them using Blizzard's assets and tools.
Another anon and I were discussing WoW modding a while back and it is really unfortunate that there's no mod loader for it. Different servers use differently coded cores, but the database architecture should be similar enough to make smaller edits compatible, but the nature of WoW modding doesn't permit content mods. You have plugins like transmogging, solo LFG, dungeon scaling and so on but no one is making content mods. There's no "CoolDude55's Quest Pack" that adds a few dozen quests to pad out zones that are lacking in content, or a mod that expands on the loot tables of some dungeons or adds additional dungeon sets, like a low level caster version of the defias/fang sets. It would be cool if there was software that allowed for the easy (un)installing and compatibility of dozens of small mods instead of the server dev(s) having to do everything on their own with no cross-server/community collaboration.
There was a mod being made some years back that would replace all the in game quest text with new, rewritten stuff, effectively slotting a new campaign into the existing quest structure. I think they even planned to have voice acting. Blizzard sent them a cease and desist and they had to shut it down. So, nobody mods new content for wow because Blizzard doesn't allow it

Unless you live in the US you should be able to wipe your ass with a C&D letter from Blizzard, that's why all the private servers are hosted in Europe
People are just stuck with WoW as a sunk cost fallacy. Look at
WoW is still fun if you know how to have fun in it.
, at best he's some programmer who buys gold from chinks, at worst he puts boxes on shelves. That said he removed himself from life just like many millenials because the real world treats them like shit. In response they become "collectors" as it tricks their brain they achieved something.
A virtual checklist keeps him and the likes of him mazed hard enough to contribute and not off themselves. People say shit like Riot and Blizz doesn't know what they are doing and how bad the game is when they give people exactly what they want, even if they are unaware of it. These games have hired psychologist teams to analize player behavior: what stimulates and what not, how to prolong game time, it doesn't matter what the feedback is from the player if his actions are the exact opposite. They don't need good content, they need constant flow of content, where the quality does not matter. When things get really bad, they throw in some breadcrumbs (aka classic or classic+) to sedate them a little while. This of course makes them forget every atrocity, and blizzard is... LE GOOD again. This has been going on for more than 15 years.
This shit died when it became everything else but a glorified chatroom, which it should have been.
>tried out classic a week ago >casually reveal to some guy i literally never played the game before >he just gives me 100 gold like it's nothing
Thanks?
Blizzard should ban ALL addons forever.
Unconditionally. >B-but some raids are un-winnable without chea-I mean addons!
Don't fricking care. If it genuinely becomes a problem where a raid or dungeon is too hard with addons banned then they can tune it down pretty easily.
The plethora of problems that addons cause for WoW and how much infinitely shittier they make engaging with the game are not worth any price.
Not to mention the massive, frick-off wall they put between the game and new players (oh, yeah if you wanna play this game you gotta download like 35 mods to install on it first, then you gotta keep them all updated).
Like seriously, addons have become a genuine cancer on the game. Just ban them and alter the game client so that it scans for unauthorized modifications so people can't cheat.
Just do what XIV does and "ban" them so that the world first guys are either forced to play without them or not stream so they don't make any money off of the WFR
>do they not do that with raiding?
The WFR guys have several addon developers working for them full time during the race to make as many addons for them as possible
>Blizzard should ban ALL addons forever.
they really should but the race to world first is one of their few successful streaming experiences, not banning them for classic really is a travesty though
>The guy i saw have a massive sperg out tantrum in a leveling dungeon in WoW 2 weeks go because we were not going and i quote "his pace".
I wish i screen shotted it.
Makes me think this will be a popular feature.
I had a paladin flip out at me in Gnomeregan and hearth away because i needed the water breathing staff as a mage.
I don't think paladins can even equip staffs?
Then you GREED on it, its not a piece of gear you NEEDED. Did you even ask your group if it was okay to NEED on something that wasn't an upgrade or did you just act like a ninja looter who was just going to vendor it and complain on Ganker you got treated like one?
You are correct, Paladins can't equip Staff weapons.
It's not BoE either, so he wasn't trying to get it for an alt.
I think he was just moronic probably.
I had someone get mad at me for not using my AoE fear ability in Deadmines when I was level 20 Warrior (Warriors don't get Intimidating Shout until level 22).
I know a guy who constantly complains there's no social aspect in MMOs anymore.
But whenever we play an online game together with randoms and they start to chat, he just laughs at them on mumble/discord/whatever and doesn't type back anything to them.
Everyone wants to socialize, its just that people don't know how anymore, as these weak piss arguments always come from insecurity, as they wait for someone else to break the ice and they legit believe someone else will wait for them to open up. This is how you end up alone.
If you see yourself here and do this kind of behavior, you need a reality check: nobody in this world is going to use pliers to get words out of your mouth. People will move on.
Back then the guy you added to your friends would get closer to you by time, as friendship just kind of happened. There was no logical reason and planning, it just happened in a very organic way, as it should be.
Now on the other hand, the modern day "friendship" feels like you need to be the psychiatrist, dad and an older borther all together to these people, while dealing with their mental problems, as you walk on not eggshells but a minefield. Especially if they are part of the alphabet soup, then holy shit you'll have a second daycare job. Unpaid.
Its exhausting up to the point where you just opt out.
I know the type, it's always usually some jaded millenial or early born zoomer that has a chip on their shoulder and thinks they aren't a normalgay because they found imageboards long after they died. They will complain about no on socializing then act like a complete c**t to someone naive enough or just friendly enough to try to socialize in game.
This is just the wave of the future of MMOs for now. I'm an XIVgay and when they started adding trusts I realized that it's what casuals want and casuals make them the most money so it's the same with WoW.
Also a bit of autism, WoW isn't copying FFXIV, they both copied Guild Wars 1 with its heroes and henchmen.
I'm playing classic right now for the very first time ever and i can honestly see why this game was so big, but i also have zero tolerance for any kind of autism i'm coming across.
I want to visit every zone, do quests and play with people but i don't think i'll ever be able to do the actual endgame content with all the "gdkp" and whatever other rmt gambling is in the game.
I was in stormwind waiting for the bros to do the prison dungeon and there were people selling boosts and carries for up to 100 gold. The fricking dungeon was literally two hallways and "bosses" with no mechanics.
To be honest people used to do that in Vanilla and tbc and wrath era.
You could pay a level 30+ to help you go down those places and get your quests done. Even Shadowgay Keep was a good money maker and boost hub. Due to the great twink weapon it could drop.
The queues are almost instant if you're a tank, near instant if you're a healer, but 5 - 10 mins if you are dps.
Most people want to keep playing DPS even with the wait disdvantage, so the follower system lets people level up how they want.
The downside is that the world is now even MORE irrelevant than before, upside being convenience and if you're interested in the lore of each dungeon. Though I'm guessing the world being irrelevant isnt a problem for blizz because they expect SoD and other classic modes to fulfill that part of the gameplay.
is there any reason why blizzard copies so much shit from other games, i remember wow players running hard defense in legion with when people pointed artifact weapons was them trying to copy relics from xiv with a lot of them saying it was something blizzard was planning to do since vanilla
>I play massive multiplayer online games because I hate interacting with other people and won't engage in multiplayer unless I'm forced to, but I still want everyone to see my dressup
How the frick did this mentality absolutely take over the entire MMO genre?
Wow players and anyone who still is in the genre is extremely good at being a hypocrite. It would have been a miracle if the genre didn't turn into shit.
I play this genre because I want to create a character and be a part of a fantasy world, not to do hardcore raiding and interacting with other people
I would stick to single player games like that, such as crpgs, but once you have played them all you start going to other things
I don't get how FF14 popularized this. Partying with NPCs in FF14 is like watching paint dry, especially if you're not the Tank of the party. I rather just play something else at that point.
Who the frick is this for. Why not just make WoW single player and offline.
final fantasy mmo done it for years
Guild wars did it before any of them
Henchman+heroes>generic npcs+”followers”
Duoing fissure with the AI set up as a barrage team was one of the most fun things in GW1. i cant imagine doing dungeons with 4 blizzard made tard-AIs to be near it.
Running easy dungeons with modern day MMO "players" is basically like running it with npcs anyway.
The cross-realm effect.
The majority of people in MMOs are old fricks and ERPers who don't have the patience or time to deal with others. Slowed down or single player content is much more appealing for buyers.
I would ironically like a fully offline WoW if they spent the time making it into a proper solo experience, similar to Dragon Quest X.
>offline wow
If they actually made a remade the story into something coherent you could play through in one go I would absolutely play it. Modern wow sucks because the story is absolute dog shit and the players are obnoxious
Only good thing about wow are raids. Those wouldnt work on a single player game
Ah yes I too love scheduled gaming doing the same thing week after week waiting to increase some random stat by 5 points.
>Why not just make WoW single player and offline.
But how would they sell you playtime that way?
>tank dungeons in retail and literally nothing you do matters, threat is instantly on you and nobody ever breaks it
>tank dungeons in classic and motherfricking morons open up their aoes 2 seconds after pull and you have to chase mobs around like an butthole trying to get white damage on them while listening to your character repeat I don't have enough rage for that
It's for me anon, I'm who it's for.
>tank dungeons in classic and motherfricking morons open up their aoes 2 seconds after pull and you have to chase mobs around like an butthole trying to get white damage on them while listening to your character repeat I don't have enough rage for that
>HEY ANON U WANNA TANK LAST SPOT?
Been leveling on turtle wow and tying to tank has made me aggressively hate randos. This games been out for 20 fricking years and morons don't understand basic shit like threat.
same
if I must be forced to repeat run dungeons as main tank, at least let me be in charge of everyone else
>pretends to be a viable player
>can't use 2 taunt abilities to keep aggro
>blames everybody else
Yup, these posters are typical pug tanks. Put you on my ignore list, eat shit crybaby gays
>Doesn't know what cds are
>Doesn't know how taunt work
Yup typical wow player.
>can't wait 5 seconds for tank to get threat and rage
>inevitable result is tank's fault
Yup, this guy definitely played classic at launch. There's you and two other dps, dipshit, my taunt doesn't have 3 charges on it and you and your dps friends are all moronic.
Typical moronic DPS shitter that has never tanked in vanilla/classic before.
I wish it was a proper offline RPG.
MMO is such a shit genre.
NPCs don't grief unlike shitty players
Also this
>We want the FFXIV audience
FFXIV implemented this years ago. It's mostly useful when you want to do older content that nobody else wants to do.
Isn't that covered by having the Duty Roulette cover both old and current content? As far as I understood the NPC party members are for those who don't want to wait and antisocial spergs?
Literally me.
future proofing for the smattering of new players that come in
>new playes into dad game
lel how?
if even a niche ass game that announced its sunsetting can get the occasional newbie wandering in, something like WoW certainly will have some coming in
Probably just to add a feature for the benefit of higher ups or shareholders breathing down their necks, like new cars with useless features nobody asked for. Queue times don't justify it anyway.
moron boomers
>xiv adds npc support to it's dungeons - OMFG YOSHI P CUM IN MY FRICKING MOUTH
>wow adds npc support to it's dungeons - heh, xiv wins again, have a nice day, wowtards
I genuinely don't understand.
If wow players didn't talk so much shit about other games you wouldn't catch as much clapback when the devs implement the same stuff in wow
I honestly never used the npc other than once and that was a story fight against our mom and it was great.
>Shit on FFXIV
>Then copy FFXIV but worse
>"STOP MAKING FUN OF US YOU gayS REEEE!"
Blizzdrones have some sort of chronic memory problems that lets them forget everyone makes fun of them.
It's never gonna reach WoW's heights in numbers so I'm not sure why they are so weird about it.
they probably thought that nothing would be able to ever keep up with it and thats not exactly blizzards fault
Their are still people asking for mytic plus in ffxiv, best they will get is criterion dungeons
They don't play criterion dungeons because they're too hard/punishing which is even funnier.
>waaah give us harder 8 man content
>ok here's ultimates
>waaah it's too hard I'm gonna cheat to clear them
>waaah give us harder 4 man content
>ok here's criterion savage
>waaaah it's too hard I'm not gonna bother
no people don't do them because the rewards are shit not because they are hard
"Where's muh loot" is another symptom of the wowbrain disease
This is the most scathing indictment of M+ gays that constantly hold up player skill as their vaunted motivation. Almost no one did them before they rewarded OP gear. There were like 25 autists or some shit.
The rewards for ultimates are shit too but people still do them, sounds like cope to me
ultimate actually has some rewards even if they are shit, there is literally nothing for criterion
Don’t you get a title and coins that only drop that you can buy a mount and other stuff? The mount sells for a decent amount and has nice bgm
why even bother doing the hard content for shit you can just buy off the market, thats the problem
Why buy it when you can just get it for free by doing the content?
MMO players whining about wanting something then they actually get it and they say that they didn't actually want it is a tale as old as time, its been around since before WoW even existed.
Most I seen them say that criterion doesn’t give good rewards and they want it to drop savage gear
The rewards being absolute dogshit just further push people from even bothering.
>ask for hardcore 4 man content
>get it
>n-no I meant midcore even though I said savage+ for 5 years straight
its just backhanded boasting "look at me im such a god gamer this is too easy for me" so naturally they cry when they get filtered by harder content cause that embarrasses them.
anyone taking them serious is just not jaded enough for the internet.
Criterion savage litteraly doesn't have any new mechanics from criterion base. The only thing they do is disable res. It's lazy as shit
so BA is the lazy form of DR?
BA is more comparable to DRS since they have the exact same rez gimmick
>then ignoring it to play wow anyway.
They are trying to do this to FFXIV right now but it's not having any effect and I think it's getting to them. Nobody cares that they are running back to Blizzard because the game had a healthy and growing playerbase before they even tried to jump on the bandwagon.
I remember this, and now that wow is dying it's usually XIV trannies barging into threads about other mmos to do the same
We fricking won, Riftbros...
rift makes me sad, I played the shit out of it, still have the box somewhere in my room. Looking at it now is like seeing your grandpa on life support and nobody's brave enough to pull the plug
Rift was pretty fun for a couple months. Like.. WAR, Aion, GW2, XIV pre-ARR, I'm sure I'm forgetting some
>servers are still online
Wtf? How many people even play this game in 2023?
I still can’t believe their are wow player calling ffxiv a furry game when their is one furry race that no one plays and wow has 4 of them
kek yeah.
I actually asked a furry if the Viera qualified as a furry race and he was almost insulted at the question. He said they do not because of their smooth, hairless skin and lacking tails among other things.
They finally adding a furry woman race that’s a female lion but we haven’t seen her yet, I guess she will be showed in next fanfest along with new class
I just hope it doesn't look like shit because Yoshida said it's most likely the last new race they'll be adding to the game.
i would have rather they gave a lot more options for what we already had instead of viera and hrothgars you can't even bring this up though because those two will just b***h all day
But will it have a snout? Game's dead if so
honestly i take everything in mmo threads with a grain of salt that being said xiv threads did become substantially worse when shadowbringers came out and i think that was because shadowlands was falling off hard
Only time ffxiv threads are useable is when a patch is new or fanfest is going on, when it’s not you get doomposters, lalafell posters, mod beasts and people just openly lying about stuff in the game.
yeah it sucks, can't really talk about xiv here at all any more
playing bard in rift was fun as shit and i honestly didn't even think i would like it at first
Basically this, there was a time when a Ganker thread was an instant ban/removal of that thread.
Trve connoisseurs know that XIV was only good pre-ARR that made it a WoW clone.
Pre ARR was literally 10 FFXI boomers arguing with each other and 1 person pretending to enjoy the game. Having to stun Ifrit to death by throwing rocks at him was not fun, also making a bad faith argument because you found the game/are apart of the community that shat it up is sad. WoWfricans are unironically horrible people.
Oh so you DO like WoW then, curious.
>My purity test
There's a reason old school MMORPGs died a horrible death the minute it released, no one cares about how le heckin' pure you think you are. You're just another normalgay poser.
I'm just glad we can enjoy our WoW clone together, anonyan.
Keep shifting the goal posts, I'm sure you'll get a W eventually. When you find the next big thing years after it's already dead be sure to let me know, kek.
XIV:ARR?
>My purity test
>Shifts the goal post back
We've already established you aren't an originalgay and likely came over with the WoWfricans otherwise you wouldn't be replying to me.
>and likely came over with the WoWfricans
NTA, but 95% of FFXIV players are WoWfugees. YoshiP proudly admits that the game was made by WoW players, for WoW players.
>If you read the reply chain the summary is the worst cultists of the genre hopped over (in my opinion) some time around Stormblood and the worst of the lot after that.
95% of FFXIV players have always been WoWfugees, even in ARR.
>But I had breakfast
Read and engage or don't bother too at all. The argument was never WoWfugees are ALL bad it's that the worst of the lot came Stormblood onwards and the type of behaviour they exhibit is literally what my initial post was lamenting.
>We've already established
Are your colleagues in the thread with us at present?
>Pretends he didn't just reply to me several times in a desperate attempt to validate himself
WE were only establishing that you do like WoW, after all.
A toast.
>Switches the goal posts back
WoWfricans.
*Brothers in WoW
>stun Ifrit to death
Thanks I completely locked that away as a pld and being a stun bot
me because people are always mean to me
Have you tried not sucking at the game?
Yeah, because you'll get banned for saying anything offensive
>Why not just make WoW single player and offline.
thats basically wow hardcore classic
And it's the most fun I have had with wow in forever.
The most fun in wow is overpulling, playing like a caged gimp for 60 levels is not
>WoW single player and offline
I might play it if they do.
It's the ultimate end game of catering to conveniencegays the modern MMORPG is just a singleplayer game now with opt-in multiplayer.
So this is why Blizzard is implementing this, they know the vast majority of retail players are anti-social morons that if they were to ever try a raid, would get furious if someone told them what to do
>the people playing that shit game are trans mog farmers
ftfy
What's the point of collecting transmogs if your game is barely above N64 graphics?
What's the point of collecting transmogs
Collectiongays are autists, it makes sense to them.
Why do you care? People in LFG are basically NPCs anyway; might as well remove the part where they drop the instant anyone commits a faux pas
Because they can make it single player online and milk more money.
I would unironically kill for a good mmo like experience but with bots
Shouldn't be too hard. FF14 is pretty much already a single player experience. Just make a single player game and add some npc characters moving around and doing the same stuff you do like hanging around town playing music emoting etc. , walking around between auction houses / crafting stations with a simulated market, entering and leaving gates, etc. it wouldn't be any different from a real MMO.
and then you'll get people trying to actually talk to these bots and suffer a crisis when they realize they're all alone
Reminds me of those old games that used keywords as script triggers
Free kupo nuts
Heh, that's cute
An old MMO used to be like that
Third worlders will remember Tibia
hi
thais
yes
i wish they would at least do this for FFXI at this point
literally the wow single player project
depending on whether you think classic wow is a good mmo experience of course
Someone did this with classic EQ on eqemu a long time ago but I can't find the forum that had all the files anymore was actually fricking insanely cool and this was done back in like 2012
Play some of the ./hack games, they nail that aesthetic perfectly.
It's late, but Guildwars had this SOLVED in 2008 or whatever. Frick WoW.
its for homosexuals like you unironically. the type of person who screams at a newbie for wasting 6 seconds of his life for not min/maxing his character or mapping out the dungeon prior to running it. who thinks video games are real life and just not entertainment
>all the replies don't know
Me. I enjoy offline MMO's. Frick socalizing.
What offline MMOs do you play?
Me. I dont want to do content where i depend on 4 random dipshits because people in my guild dont have time right now
I'll tell you.
From what he tells me and what I've seen myself, in XIV its not so muchpeople outright complaints but rather they just move on. Youre therewatching the thing and then you get the pop-up that the group has entered a boss fight and would you like to be ported (which is a great fricking feature I admit)
They fixed most of the cutscene problems like T12 and T13 by not doing that anymore in future content.
Bots are subotmial and unironically make you actually enjoy the dungeon more if playing for the first time as its not over too fast.
I always do FFXIV dungeons whit bots first because i get to actually enjoy the visuals or read the snippets of lore.
You should play on expansion launches. Maybe it's different on NA, but JP players stop to read dungeon lore bits
I dont mind just doing it whit bots the first time.
Onlinegays tend to do it to themselves and being autistic metagamers and no fun havers they will ruin your fun.
Then we got social media, which fully fulfilled the need for social interaction, and we got mobile games which fill the predatory, grindy f2p niche.
dont forget to pay trannies to NOT play THEIR game, hardcore classic plus puspus sir
So same shit as always just with less waiting time?
id rather play solo than with obnoxious homosexuals
I mean, when it comes to WoW especially they've removed all the social features of the game so completely that this is barely different from running dungeons with real people anyway.
MMO are dead, Gacha is their future.
Tech fujos ruin the world*
I fricking hate that company
the majority of nu wow players are all mentally ill trannies and fat women who only play dress up with their elves and buy mtx from the store every month. Its essentially gatcha anyway
Singleplayer games are inherently impossible to have a similar appeal to multiplayer games.
What makes you say that?
So the game is designed for those who make it a job
>Tedium
Out of room, but this is part of the issue.
I hate it.
I just hate it so damn much.
Why just not greate a physics based game centered around raiding? Have healing projectiles, have auto targeting at a huge premium and then have it be able to be blocked, have bosses throw players around etc etc
Why wouldn't this work? When you hop into the game you should be raiding
Because the hardcore community makes up usually .1% of the playerbase. The semi-hardcore usually 3%, and the midcore maybe 1/3rd to 1./2.
Just make the raids less challenging like in extraction shooters
I was 5 back then, of course not
>Just make the raids less challenging like in extraction shooters
>shooters
kys FPS gay.
Doom was the worst thing to happen to videogames. The FPS genre stagnated videogames.
Your homosexualry is obvious blizzdrone poopsocker
Did you play wildstar? Because that game did it and it died because it had barely anyone playing it
wildstar is known for being too hard.
it died cause it was "mythic raiding or gtfo" in wow terms.
It died because it was shit arcade game with 0 soul
It died because the next WoW patch came out, like every other MMO, and WoW's own fresh server.
no It died because it was shit arcade game with 0 soul
I mean, I personally lost interest because the PVP was the worst I've ever seen. But I didn't give it another try because, the next WoW patch came out. Like every other MMO.
A raiding mmo on the noita engine would be slick as fick.
What the hell. So WoW is really dying?
classic is still bussin bro, just retoilet ( which nobody cares about)
>retail- aka SODomy
expecting classic team devs to do anything interesting was your first mistake anon.
i just hope 2h shaman isnt completely unviable.
wow players propping up classic is the biggest cope known to man
FFXIV has the same feature.
Why do both wow and ff14 (supposedly the two biggest mmos) need bots to run dungeons, hmm
legit answer for ff14? dps queues, especially if content isnt fresh. you can either spend 15+ mins waiting or get in right away and do what you need to do. meanwhile healers and tanks get insta pops or have to wait less than 5 mins.
Also Dancer not being a healing class was a full-moron move.
nobody talks in wow anyway so this is better than entering a dungeon for the first time and before you have even finished zoning in the tank has already pulled half the instance
IS THAT A Black person I SPY???????
When can I play through the story in chronological order? I don't give a frick about your parselord troony raids
I could have sworn WoW already had this but I stopped playing years ago.
wow community is fricking awful and instantly leaves if you are new or make a mistake once so pick your poison doubt this shit will be usable for mythic+ anyway
they announced it for nhc dungeons, literally useless
If you' can't see that they're just testing the waters then you're blind as frick Black person
Coincidentally the introduced the concept of a Warband in the next expansion
Gee I wonder if these two things could go together in some way
warband is just sharing progress between your characters. Even if they let you use alts as NPC's - it doesn't affect the core argument - if you cant use it in relevant content its just a gimmick for turbo casuals.
>people can now do soloable useless dungeons solo
idgi. there are people who are actually happy for this too. why? to get some shitty blues you dont need?
>ff14 adds companion dungeons
>Ganker soys out
>wow adds followers to address complaints from people that every player just wants to rush through it
>wow ded
I never expected trannies to use logic for anything but here we go again.
This webm was taken at 2am 4 months into a patch btw. Kek.
good job scrolling extra fast as soon as all the "WTS" listings popped up
Running a dungeon with real people is the exact same thing though.
Hard disagree. Even shitty goldfarmer bots are better at the game than most actual wow players.
People have been saying that WoW is dying ever since cataclysm.
The game has already proven its longevity and its playerbase is super healthy. It is not going anywhere. Deal with it.
Blizzard already has technology for group finder combining all servers together. They don't need this, it's just a new feature.
"granpa didnt die yet, surely he aint dying and will live forever" fricking genius
I want an offline Final Fantasy XI
Yes but does it let you also go with friends? This was my problem with the system in 14, since sometimes members of our guild wouldn't be online and a friend and I wanted to do dungeons without the hassle of randos and we just couldn't.
t.Tank main
WoW has never been an MMORPG. It's just a lobby system where you look for players to do dungeons with. Content is never played with more than 25 players, which isn't very "massively multiplayer" if you ask me. Your average TF2 server has more players than that and nobody's arguing that TF2 is an MMO.
alterac is 40 vs 40 pvp and that existed since base game. So it had some mmorpg content even if not much.
Does that somehow make it less of an MMO?
Huh? You were the one trying to tell me about all the MMO things you can do in WoW. You zoomers really can't focus on a point in conversation lmao.
I did until you derailed the conversation with something completely irrelevant, and now you went ahead and did it again.
BTFO
Wow is copying ff14, again again.
FF XIV and WoW basically exist to jerk each other off these days since XIV is Japanese WoW and Yoshi is Japan's biggest WoWgay.
FF14 isn't that great. It has its flaws. WoW has a much superior transmog system and quality of life.
I thought XI did it first?
It did it nearly a decade before XIV did, yes.
And in typical XIV fashion, it stripped out all of the soul and flavor when it copied it from XIV.
But then again XIV is a game nearly entirely devoid of soul or flavor as a whole and has more in common with a rhythm game than an RPG.
>copying dogshit
not a good thing
Wonder how old this picture is, guessing 3~5 years old
Modern GAAS games spend a ridiculous amount of time and resources attempting to protect players from 'toxicity' and this is just another facet of that.
For some reason, if you keep a zombie game running for ten or twenty years, it starts to fill up with dunning kruger frickheads who have too much free time.
>took Blizzard almost 20 years to copy Guild Wars
Lmao
Seeing as how a big complaint from new players is that they join and dungeon and the group have run ahead and cleared it before they even realize what is going on. This makes a lot of sense.
>actual party members that actually pay attention during encounters / don't go afk non stop for hours at a time / dont engage in screaming fits for bullshit reasons
sounds great
They're pretty accurate to real players.
The tank can be changed to always run ahead of the party
the healer bot is always jumping around and currently if you wipe, all the bots rage-quit the dungeon.
>d-d-dungeons and R-R-R-RAIDING IS WHAT WOW IS ABOUT
>ITS HARDCORE RAIDING POST YOUR LOGS PLEB H-HEH
actually game is so braindead bots can play it for you instead
holy lol
The most hardcore of raids where the hardest bosses in the game get cleared in one try
Didn't all of Dragonflight's raid content get made easier, because people complained Shadowlands raid content was too hard?
Painsmith was the great Sanctum filter and then Halondrus took over 350+ attempts to kill it on mythic.
It was made easier because they are trying to make it so you don't just use 500 weak aura scripts to do the fight for you.
When the majority of the raid is spent not playing it, you know the game is fricked. Gearing on wow is the most moronic shit man
WoW was barely an MMO ages ago already. When they introduced the dungeon finder, the overworld just became a glorified lobby.
>1 button rotations against bosses with 1 mechanic was hard guys, honest
you never played old shit. Like neocron 2 is like matrix mmo and more complex than anything modern. Especially when nobody writes guides for you.
there was literally no difference between the two except how homosexual the audience is
>I HAD TO STAND AROUND AND WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO SHOW UP SO I COULD LEVEL
>SO COMPLEX
>I HAD TO MANUALLY BACKTRACK
>DEEP GAMEPLAY
i miss old mmorpg map design. now everything is a railroad that uses every inch of the map instead of letting there be hidden and neat little locations you only find by choosing to explore. the design between old and modern questing is so insanely different these days that zoomers can't even comprehend the freeform choice of "i'll do this quest next instead of these other ones" or "i'll go to this entire other zone to do some quests instead for a while". you can't enjoy what you never knew, i guess.
I don't know why there's never been a middle. It's either
>SPEND 100 HOURS TO MAKE A LITTLE PROGRESSION AND DYING COSTS YOU 10 HOURS
and
>do 30 second quest to recieve 10000000 EXP
supporting the Massive part of the MMO means giving players the tools and the motivation to get together and create their own fun.
What MMOs still currently running have that whole necessary cooperation that they were originally built on?
It's really a shame that more people didn't play it during its prime.
unironically aion classic
Everquest private servers or TLP servers whenever they add new ones
archeage alpha patch was the last true MMO ever made.
>release updates that slowly killed the multiplayer / social aspect of your mmo over the years
>then release updates to make the game playable solo as a "fix"
why do companies do this?
They realized that gacha rakes in way more money than MMOs ever did so now they're slowly turning retail WoW into a singleplayer gacha game.
They released all those classic servers so MMO players could still have a home while this is happening.
MMOs are not multiplayer since WoW
The barrier for entry is too low, it makes playing with randoms impossible because 90% of them are just straight up fricking moronic. Chinks, BR's, Indos, Russians. All sorts of thirdies, typical substandard mutts everywhere just being fricking stupid and making it impossible to enjoy a multiplayer game unless you create your own little walled garden and fence them out.
rofl
this probably the single sole reason why mmos are dead, they aren't about meeting people and friends, its just another job in another world
This is especially funny to me as a TORtanic player. We had the same thing since 2015. Now who's copying who?
Is tor still a thing?
It still exists and can be played. So i guess.
Yes, and does okay, at least for now. It's definitely not the same shitshow from 2011.
Fricking good, the "community" is absolutely insufferable in MMOs these days and dungeon runs are a chore, the less some Black personhomosexuals distract you from playing the game the better.
Now make this feature use your own characters as your bots and we're golden.
Who is paying $12 a month for a single player game
troony NEETs and Stockholm Syndromed lards.
Guild Wars was truly ahead of its time.
mabinogi
stop fooling around and come home
isn't mabinogi getting a bunch of massive updates to modernize it
This feature was added to FF11 10 years ago, FF14 copied it and now wow is copying it from ff14.
Nice to see Blizz adding a feature that GW has had for 20 years and private servers for 10
I want to be annoyed by this but its such a nothingburger in the context of retail that its just meaningless. Regular dungeon runs might as well be done with bots already for all the social interaction you get out of them, and the only time anyone ever talks is to b***h about something.
>Be me
>Have severe social anxiety
>Be very, very bad at confrontation
>Decide to try WoW for the first time a week ago
>6 days later
>Still haven't done a single dungeon because I'm too afraid that I suck and people in my party will be mean to me about it
With this feature I might actually do some dungeons.
Yes, whatever you do don't confront your fears and grow as a human being.
NTA but it's not fun playing dungeons because only social interaction you will get is either silence or verbal abuse. You can do them, but it won't be fun.
Facing your fears isn't supposed to be fun.
And so what? Are you going to die from it? No, worst case scenario you might grow some spine/balls/skin.
I have faced plenty of my fears IRL. Most of them were just that, fear. The worst thing almost never happened
In WoW, it's almost guaranteed that the exact thing you expect will happen.
Getting shouted at in a video game isn't dangerous, yet you treat it like it is. Just get over it.
Good job proving him right. People like you are the reason why people stopped talking in the game. The social aspects of the game died when the majority of players are sociopaths who only care about themselves
Covering people in pillows so they never have to interact with the real world never helped anyone.
>Covering people in pillows so they never have to interact with the real world never helped anyone.
Autists don't participate in the real world, they hide in their mom's basement, what WoW does is not the real world
hes giving valid advice and you cry cause he doesnt validate your baby coddling needs.
>The social aspects of the game died when the majority of players are sociopaths who only care about themselves
>moron complains about social anxiety and having to play with others
>welcomes feature killing the social aspect of the game even more
Who the frick cares more about themselves here you fricking mongoloid?
They died with cross-realm systems, which functioned to propel that behavior.
It causes me stress. I don't like stress. I like fun. So you can frick off.
You wouldn't feel any stress if you realized that nothing you experience in WoW can actually harm you, then you would be free to explore everything the game has to offer.
Not everyone is like you or reacts like you.
I was like that once, I was afraid of tanking or doing shitty dps, I was afraid of pissing off players/guilds so they wouldn't want to interact with me. Then I experienced all the bad things I feared by throwing myself into them and I realized that it wasn't dangerous at all.
I'm not afraid of tanking. I can do it just fine. It's just not fun for me with try-hards who either don't talk or just hurl insults.
Then you got banned for telling ragers to kill themselves
Most mmos are mediocre games enhanced by their social interactions.
Why in the frick would anyone bother playing these when the very best you can get from other people, is that they never say anything and are only slightly in the way.
>It causes me stress
Poor little baby is going to cry? Better run to mommy, she'll protect you from the evil people online.
Small dick energy
At least he's not a little gay, unlike (you)
He is though
Running off new players is how you get a dying mmo. You NEED new blood in your mmo or it will slowly die out.
I've probably done 100+ dungeons in the last few months and the only verbal abuse I've gotten is one person making fun of me for playing worgen. I've made like 10 ish bnet friends, and usually chat with the other player during the dungeon. I think you're likely autistic.
You do realize that if he does the dungeon what he's afraid of literally will happen?
WoW players are complete fricking buttholes to newbies.
>WoW players are complete fricking buttholes
no need for the newbies part, I've yet to come across a nice person when pugging.
>WoW players are complete fricking buttholes to newbies.
I tried WoW over the past week and was shouted at for not knowing what to do, told I was a fricking idiot saw multiple people arguing time after time, dungeons breaking apart almost instantly. I've never touched the game before, this was the first time I played it what the frick is this?
>what the frick is this?
It is the WoW community.
Unironically the single most mentally ill and anti-social multiplayer gaming community in existence.
Can't even get around it by saying 'all MMOs are like this' because they aren't other MMOs have vastly less anti-social behavior than WoW.
Just copy another mechanic from XIV: dungeon player commendations. Put some cosmetic rewards behind farming those.
That does not get people to interact more when they do instances.
The ONLY that makes conversation happen is quite literally slowing the game down to a near crawl.
Why? Because you have nothing to do while youre waiting for people to Med and regen and set up the next group.
Nobody wants to play that game anymore outside some crazy people, not to mention they dont even make those style of mmos anymore.
>get to end of instance
>tank says commend me or I leave
>say ok
>don't commend him
>get banned for 3 days for inappropriate username after him and his buddies spam reported me which triggered an automatic ban
yeah I'm sure that will work in wow
You can only commend once instance is finished.
People have done the same thing in m+ trying to extort money
>before final boss
>pay me 50k gold per person or I leave
>ok enjoy your bricked key
Look I'm stupid explain it to me in simple terms how you could possibly force people to commend you.
Since nobody wants to play tank, waiting for another tank will waste 10-15+ minutes of their time. So you blackmail them by threatening to leave. They most likely agree, and if they don't they get mass reported and banned afterwards.
That's why you hit them with the inappropriate name special for not obeying orders. Works every time since blizzard doesn't check reports.
The difference here is that commendations literally happen AFTER the instance is finished.
You can't pull that 'or I'll leave' shit when it's already done and everyone's already leaving themselves.
Seeing Last Laugh made me smile from the memory, then I read it.
The funny thing is these lifers will advise you to use guilds like this, to gear you up, and opportunistically drop them after they've served their purpose. It's just a completely different worldview, and not at all an MMORPG one
Have you tried killing yourself? You should try it, it's definitely something for you.
I'll be your WoW fren, anon, I also suck at the game and can relate.
you can be shit, you can do everything wrong, and nobody will care and or even check unless you are doing mythic/mythic+
I've seen a healer get kicked from a normal mode leveling dungeon because the tank was higher level and was jumping ahead all the time, and the healer couldn't follow
>because I'm too afraid that I suck and people in my party will be mean to me about it
You're kinda wrong
They'll just kick you silently
WoW died when raid kids from EQ was hired
>Enter thread
>MAZED Ganker posters obsessed with WoW
>MAZED XIV Troons mindbroken by Blizzard
>getting bullied in a videogame
the absolute state of modern Ganker
I don't understand how these people who are afraid of interacting with people fricking online function in real life
I don't like interacting with people in multiplayer games because they're almost always buttholes.
Much like IRL, people in XIV have a gun pointed at their head forcing them to be nice so it's very "real life" in that sense
you dont have to be as nice as you think in xiv but a lot of people act like if you can't talk to the average person like you do in almost any thread on Ganker then the game is overbearing
why do the sexual market place and the number of WoW expansions grow at the same rate?
As you're explaining things to the freshie, the rest of your group has already votekicked him.
ffxiv is the least newbie friendly game of all time, you need to play though literally 100s of hours of complete fricking linear slop before you're at allowed to sniff the fact that it's an MMO
simply false. Its a long story but you get dungeons & raids inside the story already. Its mmo long before touching endgame.
Votekicking is more toxic than slurs
I want offline singleplayer versions of all MMOs,
>omg running easy dungeons with bots means the end
we've literally been ddoing battlegrounds with bots for years
Damn that's sad. The server I played on 15 years ago was pretty empty but I still have fond memories of that time.
>blizzard copying ascension
>blizzard copying single player repacks
Is there anything they won't take from the private server community?
I'm not sure if you realize this, but everything they've ever done has been that way
Can these repacks do raiding?
You can raid solo in different ways:
>playerbots: more popular in vanilla, but I think wrath is getting there
>autobalance: configurable plugin that scale dungeon/raid mobs stats depending on how many players are in the raid group, this is the most popular solution for wrath
>gm commands/modding: use cheats or mod your character to the point where you can solo raids without either bots or scaling
Nice, might try it then.
Thank you anon
I remember there was a really good hunter that made his own "heroic" Darkshore singleplayer content
That was like 6-7 months ago though, did they change it?
>private servers leech off of blizzard's creation for decades
>"nooooooo blizzard can't just take inspiration from some ideas people shoehorned into their own game"
If an individual is talented at something you can appreciate their talent for what it is instead of brushing it of saying "wow what a fricking hack, sure there's a consensus that they improved something but they're not the CEO of a multibillion dollar company so they're a fricking parasite"
>instead of leeching off of someone else's creation like parasitic locusts.
You say this like the majority of Blizzard's staff aren't new people that had absolutely nothing to do with the initial creation of the game and the development during its golden years.
The answer is to pre-emptively talk shit to your group immediately as you join in
Let them know who's top dog
While cautiously avoiding offending LGBTQPIA+ invididuals and any minority groups
in ye olden times i always entered groups with "sup my homies?" but i'd probably get banned if i did that nowadays
You literally can't type Black person in wow anymore, it auto filters the message. It's the ONLY word that gets that treatment, lol.
>new zone comes out
>named all over
>people killing them on spawn with mini raids
>two weeks later
>nobody killing any of them anymore
>they don't scale for some dumbass reason so a lot of them cant be soloed and or its just not worth the time
This is one way to solve the problem
when i wanna play a single player mmo i go play ESO.
then again i havent played retail wow in years, absolute dogshit writing and direction now
Next stop: copy Conquest of Azeroth
Yes, this is a good thing. No one wants to play """"""""real""""""" mmos anymore, they're shit and a dead genre.
Pre-classic pservers and the first release of classic proved that wrong.
And how many players do they have now that the nostalgia has worn off?
How did the nostalgia persist for so long on pservers? They've just been embraced, extended and extinguished
FF14 is also complete dogshit
I disagree, not sure what you guys remember but the amount of talking is exactly the same as its always been, even gotten better in some ways, like people saying thanks at the end of a dungeon since legion, or that nobody posts meters any more
Now that you mention it, lol yea, people used to spam meters at the end of everything, I never see that anymore.
Why does that dragon look like shit
They have to pass on everything to younger morons or something. Don't even remember or care anymore.
I just play the free trial. Been enjoying Legion on my Lv20 mage while not paying a dime.
>enjoying Legion
fricking zoomer
I already played through Burning Crusade and Wrath back when they were new. I wanted to check out some of the expacs that came out after I quit.
Don't worry I'm sure the game's goin F2P any day no-ACK
>Players will no longer be allowed to purchase a WoW Token from the Auction House or the in-game Shop for gold if they have not spent real money to purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time (a “Time Limited License”) since 2017.
Everything scales to my level anyways, so there's no need to go any high as long as I don't care about the latest expac or raiding.
My brother in arms. Finally someone with good taste.
We need a Starcraft MMO.
>tfw missed out on planetside because my pc was shit
For me it was Tribes ascent.
great game even had some fun times with Ganker but i gotta say tribes 2 and starsiege tribes were better
World of Warcrafts end game is all failed e-sports the majority of players don't wanna play.
>M+ a failed e-sport
>raids a failed e-sport
>arena a failed 40min que e-sport
>class balance is balanced around the failed arena 40min que e-sport
This means to the majority of players there is no end game in retail WoW. The failed e-sport has crippled the game so badly Timewalking now rewards heroic raid gear, the last month of each patch is nothing but Timewalking for heroic raid gear. World quests and Timewalking now give vault rewards. NPC followers are being added to the game for players to have an easier time getting into this content.
>boomer thinks heroic raid gear is good
That wasn't the point of my post, my point was that EVERYTHING is shifting to free heroic raid gear and timewalking/heroic group content and why is this? Its because its obviously the highest content the majority of players interact with meaning the rest of the systems which rewards BETTER gear has failed the players.
Well considering every group requires people have item levels 20 levels above the gear that drops in there to do runs.
Last patch i saw people asking for 335 i level to run normal mode.
Gatekeeping by Ilevel has killed the game for most people.
Thus we are getting NPC follows to replace the players who have left.
That gear chasm is the friction that is monetized (through gold selling)
>Play at the end of a patch so you're way behind and everryone is overgeared
>play a role no one wants
>get filtered
This absolutely. It also serves to eliminate the players not interested in it. There is nothing left in wow but that minimum viable product.
why do people care so much about fake virtual items? they dont even last more than 1 patch now
retail wow players are MAZED.
your a gayoot and so are ff14 players, both mmos consist of tribal homosexuals like yourself.
just play what you find fun moron.
It made sense when you could use those items to get an advantage in pvp but you can't even do that anymore. Anyone that cares about these items now are just chasing virtual status symbols, it's a mental illness that Blizzard instilled in them from a young age.
WoW is still fun if you know how to have fun in it.
what a fricking shitty UI
post your elvui, troon
Not gonna pay blizzshart just to prove some fricking idiot on a mongolian horse milking forum wrong.
>6 unholy runes
Soulless, the 2/2/2 setup was the best
>that mount
nice bait
beautiful levels of seethe
post more frothing rage replies please
Generic soulless minimalist garbage
>plugins
You didn't play the game.
that's the default UI, moron
It's shit though
they should add samurai to WoW
Wouldn't that class be orc-only as as they were the only race with not-samurai blademasters
play a panda warrior in full samurai gear
WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP TALKING ABOUT THIS GARBAGE GAME LIKE ABUSED WOMEN STILL ADDICTED TO THEIR ALCOHOLIC WIFEBEATER WOW IS A SHIT DEAD GAME IT HAS BEEN SO FOR 16 FRICKING YEARS
QUIT FEEDING THE SHILLS
NO ONE FRICKING CARES ABOUT WOW
NO ONE
i do
no you don't shill you don't even play the game, homosexuals and trannies opinions don't count btw
I do play the game
imagine you could have played dozens of good games you never played and have had 100x more fun and you wasted your lifetime on this garbage instead lmao
What would you recommend, anon-kun
the funniest thing is that morons like this who decry WoW now think that other games beyond it are so much better
this moron probably plays Genshin or some other weebshit monstrosity and thinks he's upgraded
you could play doom, yakuza, baldurs gate, vermintide, darktide, payday 2, monster hunter, elden ring,n armored core, other souls games, the best game of the PS1 PS2 SNES N64 GC ps3 xbox handhelds, deus ex, mankind divided, mgs4, 5, etc etc
i could easily list a hundred games, that would give you literall 100 tjimes more fun but instead you choose to wither in front of this boring robot game.
wow was good during og vanilla. nowadays it has nothing going for it, literally everything is shit, the ui, the music, the animations, the models, the talents, itemization, pvp the world, you get banned for saying words, sharding layering whatever, cross server, cross faction play with bots, shtity arthritis rotations, nonsensical art direction and quests i could go on and on, its deader than dead and only mentally ill people keep playing that shit
>muh soulshit
why did I know that was gonna be the reply?
only Elden Ring is an actual good game, all the other shit you posted is slop
you guys are so fricking braindead and delusional
WoW is fine
these qutie good games ar elsop but daily wow quests and raiding is fine lmao you are insane
>shills balls hurt gay 3 while decrying modern WoW as "woke"
average Gankerermin brain
Well the gay centaur quest and the disabled dragon in a land of cure magic that can bring people back from the dead, does give them a good reason to complain.
Seriously that gay quest did nothing to advance the plot.
You know what, you're right.
I already played most of those games. Sometimes you want to play them and sometimes you want something else. Fun things are fun.
Imagine being proud of playing a dogshit trooned out expansion
It's the best wow has been since mop, unironically.
Just because you keep repeating it won't make it true.
>YOU STILL PLAY AND TALK ABOUT GAME?! STOP PLAYING TALKING ABOUT GAME!!! I AM ANGRY FOR NO REASON!!
I honestly question why people like you even come into these threads if you hate this game so much.
stfu shill get a real job loser
As someone who plays this game by himself, I'm okay with this and I don't give a shit what you think because it doesn't impact you in the slightest.
It needn't even be that extreme. A simple dungeon designer would have done wonders.
It would be cool as frick for sure. It sucks that MMOs are so complex, and the landscape in general has changed so much since the early days.
Look at
, at best he's some programmer who buys gold from chinks, at worst he puts boxes on shelves.
Best post in the thread
>tried out classic a week ago
>casually reveal to some guy i literally never played the game before
>he just gives me 100 gold like it's nothing
They've always done that with arena, do they not do that with raiding?
It's all completely incestuous anyway, so corruption is a given.
>do they not do that with raiding?
The WFR guys have several addon developers working for them full time during the race to make as many addons for them as possible
addons are the best thing they ever did
they are too incompetent to fix the ui, addons let the comunity do that
addon complainers are just lazy, if you can install the game you can install an addon
Addons are mandatory for the games most dedicated players (roleplayers)
>Blizzard should ban ALL addons forever.
they really should but the race to world first is one of their few successful streaming experiences, not banning them for classic really is a travesty though
>The guy i saw have a massive sperg out tantrum in a leveling dungeon in WoW 2 weeks go because we were not going and i quote "his pace".
I wish i screen shotted it.
Makes me think this will be a popular feature.
I had a paladin flip out at me in Gnomeregan and hearth away because i needed the water breathing staff as a mage.
I don't think paladins can even equip staffs?
No shit, you needed on a piece of gear that has no fricking stats on it like a shitter.
I want unlimited underwater breathing.
Paladin literally can't even equip it.
Then you GREED on it, its not a piece of gear you NEEDED. Did you even ask your group if it was okay to NEED on something that wasn't an upgrade or did you just act like a ninja looter who was just going to vendor it and complain on Ganker you got treated like one?
I am a mage and it's a gear piece for mages.
I will ALWAYS need!
I blame M+
They will complain about no on socializing then act like a complete c**t to someone naive enough or just friendly enough to try to socialize in game.
i wish blizzard would do something about wows free trial only getting to level 20 isn't really enough to have fun with the game
WoW removed the RPG from MMORPG
I'm playing classic right now for the very first time ever and i can honestly see why this game was so big, but i also have zero tolerance for any kind of autism i'm coming across.
I want to visit every zone, do quests and play with people but i don't think i'll ever be able to do the actual endgame content with all the "gdkp" and whatever other rmt gambling is in the game.
I was in stormwind waiting for the bros to do the prison dungeon and there were people selling boosts and carries for up to 100 gold. The fricking dungeon was literally two hallways and "bosses" with no mechanics.
Vanilla WoW was a great experience with a guild made by a group of friends and a couple of randoms from the same country.
Warcraft as an IP should have died long ago
ah so when flopwalker does it its great but when WoW does it right its suddenly bad?
is there any reason why blizzard copies so much shit from other games, i remember wow players running hard defense in legion with when people pointed artifact weapons was them trying to copy relics from xiv with a lot of them saying it was something blizzard was planning to do since vanilla
Do you think XIV invented NPC dungeon parties or do you not play many MMOs?
no of course not i was more wondering why blizzard copies so much shit and why wow players try to act like they dont when it's obvious
Because copying other games and rebranding them has been Blizzards motto since the late 90s so its nothing new, everyone knows it.
Nice deflection. Blizzard is known for copying other games, especially current competitors. It's something their own fans brag about.
Back in the good old days, when they copied, they at least tried to make it their own thing as good as possible. Now it's just copy-paste
>Complete dungeons with npcs
Hows that any different just playing WoW.
>laughs in turtle
>actually rolled a "high elf"
>all the voice lines are fan fiction by some russian girl
Fricking ew.
cry me a river
wtf is this?
they put ur mom in warcraft
his mom's alpha, pretty based
>his mom's alpha
Buggy as shit, but everyone invited can try her out for free?
Why don't they just make wow 2?
It's okay guys, Throne and Liberty will save us.
>I play massive multiplayer online games because I hate interacting with other people and won't engage in multiplayer unless I'm forced to, but I still want everyone to see my dressup
How the frick did this mentality absolutely take over the entire MMO genre?
Any organism naturally gravitates towards the lowest possible energy position that's still viable to get the dopamine hits. It's how nature works.
Normalgay entitlement + unreasonable incel types using MMORPG as a substitute for their social life.
>MMOs are slowly morphing into singleplayer live service RPGs
grim
>slowly
LFD was implemented in WotLK. When was cross-realm phasing, Cataclysm?
based, frick the MMO experience
I would be more jovial if it wasn't WoW
>real life isnt an mmo because literally everbody on the planet isn't doing the same thing with eachother at the same time
If that's actually a feature they implement I might unironically return to WoW after 15 years.
don't worry, pantheon will TOTALLY save mmos :')
They still have furries ,trannies and homosexuals.
I hope they all stay there, forever.
do you think they will ever make an offline singleplayer version of FF XI rebalanced around solo play?
you can already solo 95% of the game with trusts anon
I don't get how FF14 popularized this. Partying with NPCs in FF14 is like watching paint dry, especially if you're not the Tank of the party. I rather just play something else at that point.
ro remains king
troon game with Black person elves
