Minion+shadow necromancer here. My ass has been taking taking 30+ minutes to clear Tier 49 dungeons at level 94. Meanwhile I see youtube vids of ice shard sorcerers blasting through dungeons in 3 minutes, yet they somehow b***h about being underpowered.
Well now they have been brought down to my level. Welcome to the club! My necro actually got buffer, my ring of Mendeln procs all the time now and I just delete elites and can now clear tier 60 dungeons in minutes with my minion/shadow/sever build.
Sorcerers were actually super OP, this patch just brought them down to a reasonable level. Change my mind.

I guess it's understandable you'd take that position, but I'm being sincere. I have an ice shards sorcerer and it used to outperform my necro like crazy. This patch just evened everyone out. Instead of buffing everyone to the ridiculous levels of ice shard sorcerers, they brought the ice shard people down to the same level as everyone else. That's totally fair.
Well, then I'm glad the game is balanced now and you are happy. Reach level 99 and prosper using the game's perhaps coolest class.

No, because that gay in charge of the game development (Rod Fergusson I think) plays a minion necro build, he isn't going to nerf it.
Necros were already heavily nerfed this patch, minions are shit and poorly designed and this patch effectively changes nothing. It gave minions some very minor tweaks which change basically nothing and they have not addressed any of the actual problems the build has, both in terms of performance but also in terms of how it actually plays. The Ring of Mendeln is literally the one single thing keeping minion necro somewhat relevant compared to other builds and even then it's still inferior and very flawed, it provides extra damage which basically masks some other issues (minions are fragile as shit even with all passives + paragon buffs, their damage is ass without the ring, golems suck, not enough skill slots to justify minions taking up 2, no minion-related survivability/defense mechanic leaving you super fragile, minion ult kind of sucks, minion key passive sucks, etc.).
Minion build in D4 is worse than it was in either D2 or D3.
You really shouldn't have been taking 30 minutes to clear dungeons <T50, especially with Mendeln. I was taking 10-15 minutes to clear them WITHOUT the ring. Once the ring finally dropped, minions pretty much just run next to something and delete it. If you were taking so long you must not have been using skills which proc lucky hit effectively.

This, but if you have the ring of Mendeln, they will absolutely destroy everything. You have to just make sure you have tons of lucky hit on your gear, and you need to use skills to proc it. I use sever, CE, and reap. Works like a charm.
It's kind of shitty that that they made it so that you need a unique in order to make it viable, and I think the Ring of Mendeln is much more rare than any other necro unique. I literally have at least 6 or 7 of each Necro unique in my stash, but I've only only ever gotten one ring of Mendeln. Could be RNG, but other people seem to think it is rarer as well.
I didn't get a ring of Mendeln until 87. And I was doing Nightmare dungeons from like 50 onward. Shit is moronicly rare.
I also didn't get Temrity yet either.

Idk what to tell you. Minions in the game are a literal detriment to your damage output and survivability. It's been the biggest talking point about the game for Necros since launch. Druid minions are also useless.
I'm almost able to beat the wt4 captsone dungeon at lvl 56 with minions and corpse explosion
no core skills, no bone spear. it's the most fun way to play and plenty powerful. you're not fighting other players, why tf do you care about some perceived deficiency compared to a gay mage build thats boring as shit to play

made it Elias but my minions can't tank any hits and I get one or two shot
And it's going to be like that until you hit at least 65 because just because. Have fun grinding. I got run through that at 56 and found I couldn't actually do wt4 content until I hit 70 because minions get absolutely wasted on the most basic of enemies.

In WT4 rares have the same affix count and strength as legendary so they're essentially the same since you can slap on whatever aspect you want.
