Mystery Dungeon DX sold like ass compared to all of the mobile games that TPC now uses as a metric for "how successful your spinoff must be to be worth producing with our money", and as far as I know no one at GameFreak in a senior position is a big enough PMD fan to pour GameFreak's funds into greenlighting a new PMD.
wow a remake sold worse than a new game. Who coulda guessed
Super didn't sell all that great either compared to the profits Pokemon Shuffle was bringing in at the time, MDDX was the "last chance" to prove TPC wrong that deliberately had the odds stacked against it.
They haven't made a new one since Super in 2015, when they were pumped out pretty often before. Seems like they're done with it.

another off the top of my head is a punk rock meloetta because of her event in gen 9
the toxic chain being a guitar she wears around her neck and her being a mix of her two forms hair down but her pirouette body
or jirachi wearing the chain like a belt and like earrings on her tips , still granting wishes but in a way it fricks over the person somehow
