The game just looks so ugly, it looks like they were going for the style of those pieces of art for Sonic where he was skiing, at the arcades, etc, but it just doesn't look good as a game in motion.

Kirby wasn't as big of a gaming icon as Sonic
Kirby has always been for small children. I'm saying 5-8 year olds seem to be the target audience. Now, you can like the game and not be in the target audience but you won't be challenged by the game in any major way. I think Robobot was the last Kirby game that had any hint of difficulty. Comparing that to Sonic just doesn't make a lot of sense.

The fact that it lives rent free in your head says a lot. It makes sense given how similar both series are in the "cute with dark shit" mascot platformer subgenre. Their actual quality juxtapose each other so hard its downright comedic.

>Sonic lore is practically nonexistent, only now in Frontiers are they trying to callback to older series through family guy tier cutaway lines and always add and drop new ancient civilizations on a whim, no real overarching mystery to ponder on since they always blow their load in the one game they introduce some mystique. Practically every side sonic character gets jackshit in characterization, only standouts I wanna say is Shadow from Adventure 2 to 06 and Tails in the Adventure games.
I'm saying this as a fan of both franchises, being a Kirby fan is so fricking easy. Being a Sonic fan is just going to a lottery rigged against you over and over again.

The sonic movies did really well. It got recognition and it went to SEGA's collective head. Then they started doing mediocre games. Even if you don't compare it to the Mario movie and the Mario series in general it just isn't doing well anymore.
