>the physical/special split was a mistake
>it make sense that Hitmonchan, a pokemon good at punching, hit like a fly when using elemental punch
>it makes sense that ghost type are physical despite being non corporeal
>I also want to cripple physical dragon type forever because they intimidate me
sovlgays are a special bunch
>it make sense that Hitmonchan, a pokemon good at punching, hit like a fly when using elemental punch
Yes because it’s a magical elemental punch and not a normal martial artist punch
>it makes sense that ghost type are physical despite being non corporeal
Yes because licking things is a physical action
>I also want to cripple physical dragon type
Yes because otherwise the type is ridiculously broken as gen 4-5 proved
>magical elemental punch
According to that logic ALL moves should be special barring a select few like Body Slam/Press.
The physical types don’t involve magic. Bugs aren’t magic, martial arts isn’t magic, throwing rocks isn’t magic, etc
> Just like biting things, right?
Depends on the type of bite.
>ghosts aren't magic
Even if you want to argue that the split was a good thing, the way types were divided is 100% moronic
Licking isn’t magic, yes
>depends on the type of bite
2/10 of the existing biting type moves would be physical, those being poison fang/hyper fang
Does bug bitE count or no
you'd think so, but apparently not because that would make too much sense.
>Yes because licking things is a physical action
Just like biting things, right? Or is that a magical bite, unlike a nonmagical ghost?
Ghosts manipulate and manifest material, physical, things. Dark(evil) deals mental damage (special). Simple as
>Ghosts manipulate and manifest material, physical, things
so why can't they hurt normal type?
because animals don't believe in ghosts
>Ghosts manipulate and manifest material, physical, things
a shadow ball is not manipulating a material physical thing. it's a magic ghost energy ball
>a shadow ball is not manipulating a material physical thing
it is
>it's a magic ghost energy ball
it's not
unless you are dumb enough to not understand what a shadow is
its a magic ghost energy ball literally like an anime character charging an energy blast
>Pokémon with Bulletproof are unaffected by Shadow Ball.
>Dude just put on the vest to stop the ghost magic.
Playing the game, explains the game.
post body
>the mental gymnastics to try and reason why hyper beam is a physical move equivalent to a punch and not a magic energy beam
It's a magical lick thoughever
It isn't fricking magical lol, it's even physical 4+
Lick type
>Magical elemental punch
>Magical
What
Conjuring flames on your fist isn’t magical
the sensation of my flaming fist cracking your Black person skull open is because of physical trauma
Agreed, it is isn't
>it is isn't
Well which is it ESL moron?
>Yes because otherwise the type is ridiculously broken as gen 4-5 proved
but water is fine
Fun fact, every single dark type move in the first gen it was introduced was a non-magical physical attack that did Special damage for no good reason.
>dragongay seething
I know the type always attracted the most autists, but come on. Get over it.
>fairyhomosexual out of nowhere
lol go back fricking your pink trans dog and water bunny you degenerate
I'm indifferent to fairy types. Why are you so troony obsessed?
>type matchup logic
You're all autistic if you seriously care. Any matchup can be reasonably explained if you want it to and you're all arguing over your headcanons.
i mainly play smogon rby ou and this shit is stupid logic after the spa. spd. split.
I stopped playing after Gen 3, but the split is the best thing that ever happened to Pokemon and Emerald would have been a much better game for it, with the Frontier and all. Anyone seriously arguing against this is either a contrarian or a tryhard oldgay
>the game would’ve been better with moronic levels of power creep and 50/50 coin flips
you don't know what power creep is
>salamence and metagross and tyranitar being even more oppressive isn’t power creep because….uh….it just isn’t ok?
you don't know what power creep is. go look up the definition of power creep, and come back when you are slightly less of a buffoon.
>look it up
>my post is still correct
Huh. Would you look at that!
>>look it up
you did not look it up. go look it up.
Lack of phys/spec split is actually why I enjoy the Emerald BF so much more than the Platinum one.
The split made too many Pokemon able to do too many things and it turns the game into an annoying unpredictable mess.
the fact that every single dark type move in gen 1-3 became physical after the split shows that even gamefreak thought dark being special was dumb and you look like a fricking moron defending it
/thread
> even gamefreak thought dark being special was dumb
If this were true then max darkness wouldn’t lower sp def
There is nobody who actually thinks the split was bad
Fricking nobody. Anyone who claims to is trolling. Simple as
It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. It was unnecessary change.
Physical/Special split distaste doesn't come from things not making sense campaign wise. Yeah, it does make more sense for a punch to be physical.
The Physical/Special split is more so a game balance decision.
Quick and easy example: back in Gen 3, you could not damage Skarmory super effectively with physical moves. You had to be a special or mixed attacker to get through it. Thus, Skarmory was an excellent physical wall; despite lacking any form of recovery.
Fast forward gen 4 and 5, and walls really struggle to make an impact. Hyper offense is the only real way to play, because you can always tag something super effective. Furthermore, mixed attackers were more or less just a meme. There's no reason to invest in both offenses if you could just muscle past everything.
Maybe that's what you like though? Stalling to just be neutered entirely? Well, unfortunately, Gamefreak didn't, and they had to heavily compensate defensive Pokemon to keep up come Gen 6 and on.
Notice how stall is so fricking heinous in modern generations? That's because they get everything for free. Regenerator, Unaware, Prankster. Things that used to have to be strategized and take turn economy or EV investment to get are just completely frickin free. That is because the Physical/Special split made offense so much more powerful, that defense needed to be mindless to compensate.
But is it more fun?
>falling for bait
You guys never change.
Who the frick actually chose Hitmonchan over Hitmonlee? Hitmonlee is cool as frick and objectively way stronger. Hitmontop is even more moronic and it and Tyrogue are only remembered as a bit of oddball ephemera.
>Literally me if I was balding
>100% based opinions
OP are you sure this was supposed to discredit anyone but yourself?
