They have already confirmed a dozen times that there will be no pay2win of any form. However, they have also confirmed that it will be monetized out the ass in different ways. Think cosmetics like armors, skins, mounts, aura glows, teleport effects, banners, pets, UI borders, etc. etc. along with being a $70 game and the fact that there will also be regular expansions(probably like 1 per year for $40) AND a $10 battle pass system on top of all of that every 3 months.

The Diablo Immortal thing was a perfect example of lawyerspeak. Wyatt Cheng said "you can't buy gear" so they wormed their way around that and made it so you could buy gems. With D4 they have explicitly said in 50 different ways that there won't be ANY kind of gear, items, advantages or conveniences that you can buy for real money.

10+ years of battle pass for f2p is still a possibility since that's what they're doing for OW2. All available in game so it's not p2w™.

This battle pass thing has me confused. It looks like you can choose not to buy it and still get access to some of the stuff, I think they said it's going to be cosmetics, or pay $10 and get access to all of it. I think the cosmetics in D3 ruin the immersion so I don't care about that, as long as I don't miss out on actual content.

There's 2 different battle passes running simultaneously. A free one, and a paid one. The free one will give you things like a character XP boost(to be used if you want to reroll for example), ingame curency, some starter gear, a few bland cosmetics, etc. etc.
The paid one is where you will get all the cool cosmetics like armor skins, weapon skins, mount skins, teleport effects, UI borders, different types of VFX like smoke trails/lava/whatever under your feet, and so on. There won't be anything in the paid one that gives you any kind of advantage, power, or convenience.

The battle passes run per season, and each season only lasts 3 months. So it won't be like the OW2 situation.

Is the battle pass tied to the season journey at all? You're going to want to do that for the gear, I'd say. This thread proves how much goodwill they've lost, we're all talking about if it's going to be P2W or not and not about the actual game.
You're partly right, this will cut down on third party sites, which is good, but they have already guaranteed there will be no P2W. It's just cosmetics and probably getting through the season journey faster.
Anonymous
>they have already guaranteed there will be no P2W
true, it won't be pay to win, what you can have in the battle pass (paid version) will be the legendary component to add a new stat on your gear, but you can loot it in-game, so it's not p2w it's pay to fast 🙂

I remember going from Diablo 2 to WoW and being utterly disappointed with items not being tradeable, then I realised it's only to keep you subbed for longer. So what's the excuse now?

Third party sites would take all their vig. Cutting them out was one of the main reasons for RMAH, Blizzard doesn't want anyone making money on their games but them.

I never liked PoE and don't care if this makes a dent in the playerbase of it or not. I just want an arpg that has satisfying feedback from using skills, something PoE fails at.
PoE killed itself and a shitty patch won't change that as long as the current design philosophy is maintained.
They need a blank slate, a true second game that removes all the unnecessary bloat, horrible difference in quality and theme and builds on a modern engine with proper skilled developers, animators, fx designers, level designers and environment artists and light artists behind it. Diablo IV had nothing to do with that, it's literally just morons doing moronic shit and killing their own game.

I'm cautiously optimistic for D4. They booted the troony devs out and the replacements seem competent and to respect the franchise. I'm hearing good things about the game from people who played the alpha and beta so far.
>I'm cautiously optimistic for D4.
huh? >season pass >battle pass >forced "open world" for "boss events"
I don't get it, it's the exact same as diablo immortal
they just didn't get a guy with a red shirt pointing that out
The real PoE killer is known to be very bald and even more moronic, and if you think that he needs help of D4 to kill PoE, you severely underestimate him.
It was shit because good loot hardly ever dropped in difficulty less than inferno and you couldn't do inferno without the gear. Then to top it off the drops weren't even optimized for the class you were playing. The whole thing was entirely set up to steer players toward RMAH. I think it's a shame they went too far with it because I think if they had found a balance, the RMAH would still exist and D3 would have gotten at least one more expansion.
The whole thing about the rmah was about blizzard wanting a cut of real transactions they knew would happen in any game that allows trading, nothing more.
implementing something to ban bots and morons selling low level shit for millions of gold would have been better than killing it off entirely. Instead I can only give this item to people if they were in game with me while it dropped! So great!

Realistically it never works because it's a constant whack-a-mole. Kill one bot program, another pop up, kill one gold selling platform 3 others crop up.
I only did Diablo 3 Resurrection of Evil on PS4 and I really really enjoyed it. I just want to play Diablo 4 with a controller because that was perfect for me (single player/solo not trying to power game, just enjoy).
Blizzdrones deserve every shit Blizzard has been throwing at them.
Even after a shitty teaster trailer they went nuts "DIABLO IS BACK!!!!"
Haven't seen shit that matters but okay. THIS time Blizzard totally won't dissapoint
There are negligible levels of crossover between the two games. D3 as it stands already has a larger player base than PoE because it's casual pig shit, as designed. D4 will be the same. And PoE will continue to grow its niche with PoE2; this league mechanic previewing potentially success with the new direction GGG is trying to go into.
From what I can tell so far as someone who thought it looked very promising early on.
Visuals >environment: 10/10 >animations: 6/10
many are nice and feel grounded, many others do not. OSL isn't great, D2R does it better
Gameplay >combat: 6/10
nothing really new, and too much of D3. ultimates are a bad design for PvE. added verticality to environment but not to combat, it's just same old but with a dodge >skill tree/leveling: 8/10
looks promising >endgame
unclear right now, but if the rest isn't good then who cares
Sound >soundtrack: 6/10
better than D3 but still generic, no soul, no Matt Uelman >combat sound: 2/10
sounds like a mobile game, very disappointing >UI sounds: 2/10 >voice acting: 4/10
I was pretty excited a year or two ago, they seemed to be heading in the right direction, but the latest release of info and gameplay has dampened that optimism a lot
>no Matt Uelman
Muh nylon string guitar plucking. I don't want to hear shitty music when playing diablo, I want to hear crunching bones and squelching blood and D4 is on the right track. Please reference the gameplay footage you're talking about.
>reference the gameplay footage you're talking about
It's a steel 12-string not a nylon. Look at the dumb animations on these rogue attacks, her cartoonish run/walk, the same cheap stab sounds on every enemy. You aren't getting crunching bone on skeles and rending flesh on zombies like D2, they just don't give a shit, the sound design is hopeless. Close your eyes and listen and tell me it isn't a chinese mobile MOBA. And good lord the gameplay looks dull. The rogue could be stealthy and positional and integrate gameplay with environment but no, it's just stab-stab whoosh
Pretty much every game or expansion post-2020-blizzard has released has been unfinished and a buggy mess. I dont know how anyone could somehow think D4 would be any different.
At this point I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard said Act 4 and Endgame would come in a patch a few months after release.
Somewhat random, but Path of Exil on Ruthless mode on Steam Deck is kind of... comfy. Not many item drops eliminates the problem with loot being a pain to manage.
unironically true.
I really thought GGGs announcement of PoE2 destroyed Diablo, but Blizzard is clearly ready to reclaim the throne.
They're going to make bank from initial sales and then rake in more cash hand/fist while keeping players with legitimate seasonal content.
If current PoE is anything to go by, PoE2 will barely be functional with content bloat and balance issues. ded gam.
D4 is not the PoE killer. D4 is irrelevant.
PoE is the PoE killer. Every seasonal update is a shot in their own foot left untreated with spiteful double downing. There is only a bloody stump left and it can't support the body for long.
The playerbase is dwindling, the streamers harbor visible contempt and only continue because they can't abandon ship yet.
>no trade

Don't PoE players love bragging about SSF?
NTA but SSF is a small minority of the playerbase, its featured more because you see streamers play it but regular trade league is far more popular.

That won't be hard, they're shutting down WOW China in January.
>D4 is unironically going to surpass WoW in revenue.
you'er falling me a game fit for mobile markets where they can just shit out content with no regard to anything but the numbers on an item allow for a better powercreep than a MMO?
imagine my shock, next time you're going to tell me that the mobile section of blizzard is making the majority of the revenue, now wouldn't that be unexpected an crazy?
Oh boy, now the game is even more world of warcraft-like!
More like they want to force you to pay money to them instead of a third party market site by offering MTX services that increase your chances of getting the super rare BOP items
They have already said a dozen times that you won't be able to buy any kind of gear/items/advantage/power/convenience. It's all cosmetics, battle passes and expansions.
I don't believe them for one second. You're moronic if you trust Blizzard to not be the greediest israelites imaginable.
That would be a pretty massive PR problem because they would have been lying about a core part of their game. I take them at their word on this. There are going to be many other ways to make money off this.
>massive PR problem
as if that matters to them at this point, they've had so many that this would barely be a blip on anyone's radar
they can just wait a week and zoomers with the attention span of a fruit fly will forget and it's back to business as usual
>I take them at their word on this
I mean this with all of my heart: you sound like a shill or a blizzard dev trying to defend this shit. If you're neither then you must be the stupidest most low IQ Black person on the planet to believe this shit.
I believe them, they've said it multiple times. If that makes me a shill, I guess they should start paying me. Like the other anon is saying, they have multiple other ways to generate revenue. I don't see them losing whatever goodwill they have left to lie about P2W and end up putting it in.
>I believe them, they've said it multiple times
So repeating a lie is enough to make it the truth for you?
>I don't see them losing whatever goodwill they have left to lie about P2W and end up putting it in.
They say this every time but their company is shackled to shareholder interests, they will always chase short-term profits over long-term gains. They will lie through their teeth right up until the moment they pull the rug out from under you.
Again, just wait to buy it, that's what I'm going to do. S1 doesn't start for awhile after launch anyway.
>You're moronic if you trust Blizzard to not be the greediest israelites imaginable.
They are being 100% transparent about this though. They have said so many times what exactly they are going to do. The game will be monetized like fricking crazy through cosmetics, battle passes and expansions, so there's no reason for anything else.
There hasn't been any kind of lawyerspeak or avoiding/dodging things. They have outright stated exactly what they are going to do.
They have also outright lied and done the exact opposite of what they were going to do.
You have no personal reason to defend them, the cautious approach is always the right one since nobody gains anything from trusting them in the first place.
I am not defending them. I have played Blizzard games going all the way back SC and WC2, but this is the first time I have seen Blizzard being upfront about everything and not doing the scummy ass weaving, bobbing and dodging whenever it comes to their monetizations and questions about it.
I assume it comes from their company going straight into the gutter and all their goodwill running out, so they realize that they can't frick around anymore.
the last diablo game was immortal, so much for "going straight"
This, and immortal was widely regarded as the most scummy predatory scammy mobile game ever made.
And look at how angry everyone was about that game. Even the chinese who they wanted to cater to because they LOVE pay2win shit, were fricking furious.
>And look at how angry everyone was about that game.
yeah
and look how much money they print with it, I'm sure the executives will ask the director to stop making money in order to allow some small unemployed nobodies to b***h about the game (they'll b***h even if there weren't any microtransaction too anyway)
raid shadow legend has an unhealthy obsession with shill campaigns, got them 370M$ in their best year and is one of the top played mobile games.
in half a year, Diablo immortal made 300M$
you think they give a shit about whiny b***hes? they outsourced the project to a low tier Chinese studio that cost them nothing and they get tier 1% top of big bucks
Exactly why they have to try so hard with D4.
This. I think they're recognizing the damage they've done to the brand. It looks like DF was such a flop they're trying to bring the OGs like Metzen back. If they lie about this, I am done with them and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
lol. For someone of roughly the same generation you sure fall for smoke and mirrors. Next you're gonna tell me that EA cleaned up their act and haven't been their usual backstabbing self after they ran out of good will winning worst company in america twice in a row.
Blizzard doesn't have a good tack record, them saying something isn't the same as them actually doing it, the number of times they've wiggled their way out of a supposed promise and changed their mind after a while (usually when mot people arleady bought a game) is too many to count.
Just don't buy it at launch and wait until they're either proven liars or it actually isn't P2W? They were up front with the RMAH with D3, which didn't seem like a terrible plan at first, but the drops were tuned so that you almost had to use it to gear up (I made like $70 off of it so it wasn't all bad kek).
>They were up front with the RMAH with D3, which didn't seem like a terrible plan at first, but the drops were tuned so that you almost had to use it to gear up (I made like $70 off of it so it wasn't all bad kek).
Yeah, that's the caveat they'll tell you just enough to look like "good guys" while not telling you they've rigged the system to frick you over in the long term.
But then it goes back to the anon's original question, if you can't buy or trade for the best items then how are they making money off of you? Your logic is circular.
what do you think is on the battle pass? in the recent interview they even mention "boosts"
>what do you think is on the battle pass? in the recent interview they even mention "boosts"
They specifically said that the boosts are part of the FREE version of the battle pass, because they don't want any kind of advantage for people paying.
I suppose you’re right. Just like when they said Diablo immortal won’t be pay2win and you couldn’t buy gear but made it so you could buy significantly more powerful gems.
That you know of.
It's just cosmetics and probably getting through the season journey faster.
>they have already guaranteed there will be no P2W
true, it won't be pay to win, what you can have in the battle pass (paid version) will be the legendary component to add a new stat on your gear, but you can loot it in-game, so it's not p2w it's pay to fast 🙂
stop being moronic for a moment please, it's embarassing
>"No restrictions", "bind-on-trade", and "bind-on-pickup".
lol
lmao
I remember going from Diablo 2 to WoW and being utterly disappointed with items not being tradeable, then I realised it's only to keep you subbed for longer. So what's the excuse now?
It's to make it so you have to actually play the game, zoomer. You can't just go to a third party site and buy your Windforce.
What's wrong with that? what's wrong with trading?
Nothing as long as it's restricted from the best items, to other immediate party members, and others only being allowed to be traded once, which is what they're doing.
That's not trade you insipid wowfrick
>It's not trade if I can't buy it from a third party site!
Eat shit, moronic homosexual. This is the best option to allow some trading while keeping the game free of pay to win.
>free of pay to win.
lol
>he STILL can't find an example of how D4 is going to be pay to win
Your headcanon doesn't count, mate.
Why would you want to turn the game into a trade simulator like PoE?
Why would you want to play a slot machine simulator like d3?
Because that is always what Diablo has been?
You could trade in D1 and D2
Games tend to evolve and get more complex over time.
why wouldn't they try to go the other way
make every item an NFT, able to be sold in-game as RMT (bliz takes a cut)
they were ahead of their time with d3's AH, just didn't have the right technology yet
Third party sites would take all their vig. Cutting them out was one of the main reasons for RMAH, Blizzard doesn't want anyone making money on their games but them.
Hi Chris
good
you autistic merchants don't even play the game. you just trade items.
if you want commerce do it IRL, we just want a decent isometric action RPG.
if you're comparing the number of gays and trannies maybe
The only PoE killer is PoE itself lmao
I love arpgs. I love PoE. Im hoping D4 + Last Epoch makes the devs take a step back and really decide what makes their game/the genre fun.
PoE doesn't need to be killed it's already dead
The PoE killer is Chris Wilson's vision for PoE 2
poe2 looks really cool. Any chance it will be good?
That latest trailer is awful as frick.
The whole shit were made just for 'look, he's fricking back! Do you remember him???' moment.
Not to mention how frickign stupid that spear thrust is.
Inarius has never appeared in game before, just books and lore tabs, how would you "remember him"? he's an important, but somewhat obscure character.
it'll probably be 6/10 just okay
at least there's a level cap this time
PoE doesn't need help to kill itself.
>PoE is dead!
>is literally in the to 15 on steam in terms of players and has everyone saying the core game became a lot better this league with a fun mechanic as well
Keep crying doomposters. The game is solid right now.
>dude what if diablo
>but instead of action gaming, it's a mmo with 5 dailies a day, 2 raids and you can buy the battle pass premium to get more currency to complete the set in a week instead of a season
>also you need to buy other activision games to get mount armors and pets for ~~*free*~~
they said there will be no dailies
I never liked PoE and don't care if this makes a dent in the playerbase of it or not. I just want an arpg that has satisfying feedback from using skills, something PoE fails at.
>blizzard games
>kill anything but themselves
Good one
PoE killed itself and a shitty patch won't change that as long as the current design philosophy is maintained.
They need a blank slate, a true second game that removes all the unnecessary bloat, horrible difference in quality and theme and builds on a modern engine with proper skilled developers, animators, fx designers, level designers and environment artists and light artists behind it. Diablo IV had nothing to do with that, it's literally just morons doing moronic shit and killing their own game.
it looks awful, like some unholy union of diablo iii and immortal informed by genshin style gachashit. i'm not going to engage and i'm not going to get hooked. frick blizzard.
You know that you will attempt to resist, but on the day of release you will give in.
i think not.
The fact that you saw this thread and decided to enter it already says enough. You are already mentally invested. On release day you will be pushed over the edge.
Why did you enter a fricking Diablo IV thread then you Black person? Nobody cares, go replay titan quest or whatever you do besides complaining about a game that won't release for another year and that you don't plan to engage with.
to shit on you gays for hyping up this literal goyslop
You're shitting on nobody, you're just acting like a complete homosexual thinking your opinion matters to anyone but yourself.
My opinion is worth more than yours simply because I am a fit white male and you're probably some fat disgusting subhuman Black person
That's exactly what a mid 20, average maybe slightly chubby guy being angry with his life and/or job would say to vent on Ganker because he desperately needs to project some superiority in his rather shitty and unimportant, de-placed opinion.
tl;dr you're trying to hard and the next thing you will do is either post a basedjack/funny reaction or spout some cope and seethe meme
holy projection lmao
Called it + the projection is all in your previous post and you know it.
Shut the frick up moron nobody cares
What are you gonna do? Get angry? Have a melty? Get even more invested in the Diablo IV topic?
I'm going to continue going into these threads and providing my (obviously superior) opinion to the masses so that maybe they stop falling for shills and buying garbage games like this.
And there's nothing you can do about it. Seethe b***h
You're the only one seething if you hadn't noticed. Diablo buck broke you so hard you actively want to spend your free time engaging with it rather than the things you like.
I'm not even the guy you originally responded to at the beginning of this chain and I don't play Diablo lol. I just like jumping into arguments pretending to be one of the parties involved to incite a flame war.
Oh, but I do hate Blizzard and hope every game they make fails miserably and all their devs die horrible painful deaths for ruining the franchises I liked, so there is that.
>merely pretending
okay
Didn't read
>""""action"""" rpg
>no reaction dodge
>no reaction blocking
>no iframe mechanics
>run around gathering shitfest of mobs to stand in place and mash LMB few times
>""""action"""" rpg
None of this was ever part of the classical arpg formula before but they did add some of it to Diablo IV like a dodge and iframes.
>no iframe mechanics
i-frames in any game is the easiest way to spot shit devs, instead of designing interesting bosses/mechanics they just throw in i-frames that lets you press a button and avoid all danger.
>it's not like dark souls so it's not action
> iframes
I want Soulsgoys to go away.
Is Diablo 2 Resurrected worth it?
Yes. It will have a longer lifespan than D4 without a doubt
If I buy it now and start a character will I get left behind?
I remember that the new ladder made the old characters obsolete
The current ladder is almost done I'm pretty sure but it's still fun to do practice characters
>tfw bought D2R on release day
>max out my Sorceress and Druid by January
>stop playing
>characters and mules are now useless since they can't even make the new runewords from recent ladders
JUST
it's decent there's a lot of people clamoring for shit like loot filters and I feel like just with d3 they'll listen to the loud minority who want to turn it into esmode zoomzoom bullshit
Any good arpg besides poe? I've recently tried grim dawn but didn't like it.
>This Black person thinks Rod Furgesson, the guy responsible for Gears of War 4 and 5, will take on POE.
Okay
Do any of you fricking casuals even grasp the militant autism required to build something as insane as Path of Motherfricking Exile?
>start poe in sentinel
>have fun
>kalandra wasnt very cool
>dont care for sanctum either
>still dont understand crafting autism
poe 2 will be cool though.. right
I reckon it will, its industrial strength autism will cement it as the go to ARPG on account of being free. The second trailer was beyond fricking kino.
Blizzard doesn't have a good reputation.
I'm cautiously optimistic for D4. They booted the troony devs out and the replacements seem competent and to respect the franchise. I'm hearing good things about the game from people who played the alpha and beta so far.
>I'm cautiously optimistic for D4.
huh?
>season pass
>battle pass
>forced "open world" for "boss events"
I don't get it, it's the exact same as diablo immortal
they just didn't get a guy with a red shirt pointing that out
The real PoE killer is known to be very bald and even more moronic, and if you think that he needs help of D4 to kill PoE, you severely underestimate him.
BALD
How long into d4 release before we get the wave of "d3 was actually really great and soulful" lies from jaded morons
It's the same shit as D3
I still think launch d3 was decent and would have been better with a different direction than loot 2.0 and 60,000% increased damage sets
I was really disappointed they closed the gold auction house with the rmah killing any actual trading
You would just have bots and gold sellers everywhere so it's not much of an improvement.
implementing something to ban bots and morons selling low level shit for millions of gold would have been better than killing it off entirely.
It's a Lost Ark copy
Lost Ark isn't even the same kind of game.
From what I can tell so far as someone who thought it looked very promising early on.
Visuals
>environment: 10/10
>animations: 6/10
many are nice and feel grounded, many others do not. OSL isn't great, D2R does it better
Gameplay
>combat: 6/10
nothing really new, and too much of D3. ultimates are a bad design for PvE. added verticality to environment but not to combat, it's just same old but with a dodge
>skill tree/leveling: 8/10
looks promising
>endgame
unclear right now, but if the rest isn't good then who cares
Sound
>soundtrack: 6/10
better than D3 but still generic, no soul, no Matt Uelman
>combat sound: 2/10
sounds like a mobile game, very disappointing
>UI sounds: 2/10
>voice acting: 4/10
The rogue could be stealthy and positional and integrate gameplay with environment but no, it's just stab-stab whoosh
too slow
I like the barb's sound effects, but yeah the rogue is all generic knife sharpener sounds.
It's early game, probably around level 10 to 15.
If I wanted to play minority dating simulator I’ll just boot up sims4
POE...Name of scary author who was beaten to death in political vote-buying scheme gone wrong.
D4...Division 4, not 1, not 2, not 3...FOUR!
By virtue of names, POE will dominate.
Somewhat random, but Path of Exil on Ruthless mode on Steam Deck is kind of... comfy. Not many item drops eliminates the problem with loot being a pain to manage.
>bald negress
never
yawn, bye
PoE is shit, so that's not very impressive.
can it beat grim dawn?
didn't think so
will probably be a pretty bad diablo-like game in all honestry
unironically true.
I really thought GGGs announcement of PoE2 destroyed Diablo, but Blizzard is clearly ready to reclaim the throne.
They're going to make bank from initial sales and then rake in more cash hand/fist while keeping players with legitimate seasonal content.
If current PoE is anything to go by, PoE2 will barely be functional with content bloat and balance issues. ded gam.
Grim Dawn is the best aRPG on the market.
>boring dawn
the combat is boring.
Nox still has the best combat of any isometric arpg and it's like 20 years old.
