both Legends and SV felt like huge breaths of fresh air because of how stale the franchise has been for literal decades but if you play literally any other games at all its impossible not to see them as still underwhelming in design and deeply fricking embarrassing in terms of technical performance. I had more fun playing them than any Pokemon game since Gen 3 but if they didn't have the franchise' charm to prop them up they would be solid 4/10 games

The difference between a TCG and a video game is you can completely overhaul the mechanics of a video game in between titles.
TCG and comp of the games are entirely different beasts and don't suffer from nearly the same issues. They've essentially done that with Scarlet and Violet as a lot of former sleep inducers have had their movesets redone with their sleep moves taken out.

Sleep, Freeze, Paralysis, Confusion, Flinching, and Evasion/Accuracy were always status effects vast majority of people hated (and yeah VirGinCucks too but they weren’t vocal about it because they have to suck it up).
Freeze in earlier gens and Sleep were so bad the playerbase collectively agreed to have mechanic changes on simulators.
