All publicity is good publicity. If they explicitly namedrop Hades II like this, news will spread about the game that got delayed because of Hades II, and all the Hades II fans will be more likely to see it and look into it. They might get a handful of new players as a result. This is certainly the first I'm hearing of it, and I don't even care for Hades II, so it's obviously helping its reach.
It's compounded with the fact that it's a very safe genre game (2d platformer roguelite, wow) built on a 35 year old IP. It's so by-the-numbers. Gushing for pity points with OhHeyGuysWeLikePopularGameToo just rubs me the wrong way.

Isn't just common courtesy to praise a competitor when citing them?
If they hadn't praised the game, then the message could easily come across as spiteful. Like them being upset at Supergiant or something. Which is likely not the case.
When Microsoft mentions Nintendo they praise them. When Nintendo mentions Playstation, they praise them. When Playstation mentions Microsoft. They praise them.

In what way is that unreasonable? It's better than when all the games release at the same time. Even from my consumer perspective.
this. if anything, it makes the studio more sympathetic because it acknowledges that the game it is competing with is good and something they themselves play. mutual respect is good, even if it's just there for publicity reasons

both are early access but folks treat it as if it's the real release, this is the crossing point in which companies have trained consumers that this is the common practice now.
EA means full release at this point. Has there been any EA game that has actually changed significantly from EA to "release"? It's just a tag you use to pretend the half-finished features are going to be added, and to imply that you're going to be supporting the game for a couple of years.
