the series really started with the second game which introduced mainstay features, if you wanted the whole battlenetwork experience then you really only need to play 2, and either version of 4, and of course if you crave more then go the whole nine yards.
if thatcollection lacks online multiplayer, or even native PC ports, then it's going to be fricking worthless. i wanted this thing to become real so bad, and here it is, and it's gonna be phoned in isn't it?
if it was phoned it it would release right the frick now, it's releasing next year
Trailer is stated as 1st Trailer. With it not being out until next year, there's gotta be something new they want to show off.
It would be fricking crazy if Zero/ZX collection gets a completely tacked on brand-new multiplayer mode and BN collection doesn't get it's original multiplayer mode. I simply refuse to believe this could happen.
I hope we get a special mode based off of 4.5 Real Operation, because 4.5 was REALLY good
InB4 multiplayer is a completely seprate game
>if it was phoned it it would release right the frick now
I hadn't thought of that
>What is building hype
2023 is far as frick for a port of some easy emulatable games
>underestimating how shit modern Capcom is
You will buy it anyway
How can you c**ts tell any of those bloody games apart when there are literally over 130 of them?
theres like ten of them, and they have varied chips and internet, the best undernet is in 4,
Without love, it cannot be seen
Called playing the games
Because those 130 games are split between 7 subseries most with their own unique gameplay styles and visual designs. You miserable frick.
>the four most obscure megamen (pretty sure 3 of them are just repeats too) are the furthest up front
I'm not sure what the black armor X or the pointy shoulder one below him are supposed to represent, but the little guy in the front is there to represent Universe, and was meant to be a distinct character from Classic Mega Man before the game was canceled.
The black armor is Rockman Holic X.
No idea about the other one though.
>X-over taking that much space
lmao
what is that black armor X and the one under it?
Keep in mind when that pic was made Xover was both brand new and the only new Megaman thing around that survived Inafune quiting. I don't think they knew just how much fans wouldn't take to the game. It's the same reason he's still in the official art for the 30th anniversary, they had to have something to represent that dead period.
BN megaman looks the best.
It was my understanding that JP fans were ok with it, but westerners really fricking hated the idea of X-Over.
It's a shame that X-Over was sent to die with that gacha because as a design he's fine. Dear lord that gacha though, what an abomination.
X Dive was good at first but it's suffering a lot from Gacha exhaustion, every new character they release is S tier and now they've almost run out of series characters to release so they're making their own OCs now.
>X Dive was good at first
It was never good. It's not even the gacha, the game itself is dull. The reason I dropped it was because I couldn't stand how boring it was and completely lost all interest.
I personally really enjoyed the PvP and the coop during the first few weeks/months where even basic X was really viable, of course I played the japanese version as soon as it launched so it was a different experience. It filled the X niche for a while and felt like a good celebration of sorts with devs that were actual fans, playing with Zero and EXE was also really fun as well.
>X Dive was good at first
Huh? It has literal auto-aim and everything is based on power scaling. It's an illusion of a game, but it really isn't one. It's almost sad really, all of these assets could have been used to make more MHX style games really easily. It's probably the worst thing that has ever happened to mega man.
>now they've almost run out of series characters to release
I can tell you that's inherently false
>they've almost run out of series characters to release
If only...
>it gets decent once they drop the Megaman must give a speech every episode rule
>gets cancelled
it was doomed from the start but it's not too bad when it finds it's footing
i stopped watching a few episodes after aki (megaman) gets a crush on this blue haired girl that looked like the self insert a writer
but i remember the museum episode because in some shots you can see photoshoped mega man art with a filter on, like that painting on the left is clearly Zero holding iris, also remember seeing one of zero as he looks in the zero series, which implies that cartoon probably takes place around ZX time in an alternate timeline but somehow they went back to robot masters, also i wonder whats up with making wily a kid
maybe master thomas is right, that world needs a reset
No idea about Unibrow X but I've seen the black one before
Even the games that recycle robot masters have original characters and music, and different gimmicks for the power ups and stages
by the fricking title when you start the game
who the frick do you think you are that you are able to tell people what to do
You wouldn't get it anon
I'm still so fricking mad about the Archie comic being canceled. It wasn't perfect but it was basically the only official Mega Man thing we had at the time. Down the drain because one fricking editor blew all their budget on licensing a bunch of characters for one off cameos and then skipped town to go work for another publisher before the event could bomb.
Actually on second thought I find it incredibly hilarious that Archie killed the Mega Man comic to help save themselves during the financial black hole Sonic was causing, just to not only lose the rights to Sonic a couple years later but have their most consistently popular writer and artist jump ship with it.
>there will always be a mega man to protect us
6 whole games and 1 relevant spinoff is nothing to keep track of.
>the first one
>the one where Lan goes on an overseas trip and gets mugged
>the one with the cool mystical postgame area
>the one with all the tournaments
>the one with Fire Emblem battles
>the one where Lan moves houses
>the spinoff on the Gamecube that copies Classic Megaman style platforming
>the spinoff with the annoying automatic battles
>the spinoff where you can use lots of different Navis
>the spinoffs that nobody played because they're on dead consoles
Speaking of getting mugged.
Were you able to get your money back or were you just fricked?
Just talk to the mugger when you leave the plane and you'll have a net battle to get it back
Even on my first playthrough I did it so I don't even know if it's possible to permanently lose your money
Motherfricker I didn't know that when I first played it.
Son of a b***h I lost 150k Zenny
Didn't BN2 has bbs job that give you easy 100k Zenny?
BN2 devs really were out of control imagine there was a bad timeline where you could loose your entire pack forever
For me it's the one where homies almost get mass murdered by a dishwasher.
>the spinoff where you can use lots of different Navis
yo didn't know about that one for sure
You know how your mom cant tell apart a nintendo from a playstation and xbox despite the giant honking text that says playstation right on the console and the X shaped logo right there on it?
That's what you sound like right now, anon.
Anon, the Battle Network series has some of the most unique gameplay in the HISTORY OF ENTIRE FRICKING INDUSTRY
Holy shit.
>press A to win
deja vu, Ive seen this post before, referring to megaman too
years ago
because I'm not a fricking moron like you.
By the title, usually.
Let your other thread die before you make another one.
>online multiplayer
you really don't want to deal with the metahomosexuals
Where did these filthy casuals come from?
brother you have never played BN in multiplayer, it's cancer
Bro your uninstall?
How about private matches idiot? Besides the one basic thing about this franchise regarding the internet and they can't get online play right.
the only appeal of this collection to me is gimmicking out the crayon eaters that are obsessed with this series
>online multiplayer
And deal with tryhards?
Multiplayer is fun at first when everyone feels like they're on a equal playing field or similar level. The second it's all people who grinded to get the best chips to hours who get a hard on over getting a one up on people, kinda cringe. It's why I can't play online servers for unsupported games. It's all people who played the game for 200 hours.
>grinding
Most BN multiplayer communities just hand out 100% saves to everyone
If legacy collection gets a versus mode they'd be fools to not to do something similar
This, its going to be fun the first week but after it’ll just be awful
So just play with your loser non-tryhard friends then
If you have them.
Yooo it's going to have online multiplayer?multi-player?!
That's awesome cause I never had anyone to play these games with back in middle school and high school
Currently its unknown but I woldnt count on it.
Nope and signs looks like it might not be in but who knows we still got until 2023
They should just have a tiered multiplayer, where winning a certain number of times in multiplayer puts you in a higher bracket.
Why would you ever not play a series in release order? That way you can appreciate the good changes that a sequel makes
>and either version of 4
nice bait
>a whole fricking year till release
What do I do in the mean time?
emulation
Play the other mega man games.
Play Boktai
Play MM8BDM's story mode.
play shanghai.exe
I'm waiting for the postgame.
Play on a hacked 3DS
Emulate them
Play it on the Wii U, like I do.
I wish those versions didn't make the games look dark as shit
>the series really started with the second game which introduced mainstay features
I can agree with that, since I only played 2 - 6 when I was a kid.
>if you wanted the whole battlenetwork experience then you really only need to play 2, and either version of 4
>either version of 4
>4
What in the goddamn is it with Ganker trying to pretend shit games are good?
Trolling & contrarianism.
just a moronic way to have discussion
ok
i'll bite
what pray you, is wrong with 4?
Not him, but my major gripes with it are these two things
>Dark chips are completely fricked and the cost to use them is a measly one hit point, making every boss in the game trivial
>Tournament has random outcomes and is loaded with npcs using default navis or rehashed bosses from previous games, making it possible to playthrough it and not face any of the new bosses at all
>some generic navi beat Searchman.exe
I'd wanna see that fight.
>Group of normalnavis just gang up on him like this
?t=125
I might be crazy but I think you could watch the matches in the tournament at Higsby's shop
You can but normalnavis almost never win those
Skipping makes the outcome random if I remember right
Not that guy but 80% of the story are filler content that ultimately serve no purpose. We could have had a story about Nebula agents sabotaging the tournaments by distributing Darkchips to the contestants to spread their influence or smt. Would make more sense for Duo to deem the planet as evil if the regular netbattlers know about Darkchips and start passing them around.
If you play battle network for the story you're quite literally playing it for the wrong reasons, plain and simple. The stories for all 6 of these games is dog water and I'm tired of pretending otherwise. If you are ranking games higher or lower based on the story you played the games wrong.
The gameplay is for actual children that are bad at video games, you mong. The devs literally said this. Why else would you play them? Are you a moronic child?
>Gameplay is for actual children
If it isn't gatekeeping out the children, it fricking sucks got it. I ain't defending 4 by any means, darkchips were stupid gameplay. However, the arguement of "it isn't hard enough" is a shit one. Gameplay can be good time, regardless of skill level required. The only time I'm disappointed is when post-story content, doesn't have dev tier difficult stuff at the end, so there is something to challenge the player, not that the player must be challenged the entire time.
You are just that dumb, anon. A moronic child is more capable than you.
Got it troony. Thanks for the heads up.
Maybe I'm just a moron but how tf is the gameplay for children? The deck-building shit and all the hidden mechanics are far too complex for kids and the actual battles require at least some strategy and good reflexes. If you can't consistently S-rank you won't get good chips either. Not only that, but a lot of the games also punish you for using the easy way out with Dark chips which can very easily ruin your playthrough if you're a kid who doesn't understand the long-term consequences of your actions. I managed to get to the final boss at age 9 through constantly saving and lots of trail and error, but I couldn't actually finish the game because I simply didn't output enough damage with my shitty deck.
Played them as a kid, never actually completed their post games for the reasons you stated but that didn't bother me since I at least got through their main stories.
Because none of those things matter and are just lazy ways to tack hours onto the post game.
>The deck-building shit and all the hidden mechanics are far too complex for kids
Are you kidding? You can just Life Sword/Giga Cannon and spam Mega/Giga chips and get S ranks on Navi battles under 15 seconds. As a kid I would refuse to use Full Cust because I thought it was a waste of a chip slot and outright ignored any sort of chip synergy for "Big number is better".
Here, these are my save files from when I was a kid. I can't find BN1, BN2's battery died it looks like, and my 4 save isn't backing up right for some reason. I know for a fact I 100% BN1 and BN2 though, and I replayed BN2 countless times. SF1 and SF2 were from when I was a teen but still. I just want to reiterate, I would go into postgame bosses and V5/EX/whatever bosses with decks like this and S them.
Kids like card games, even if they're too stupid to build good decks. You'll be proud of your alphabet soup folder because you made it and it has combos that will kind of sort of work when the stars align that you came up with. The hidden mechanics don't really matter and as a kid you don't care if your folder isn't top notch. Hell, I'd hazard a guess that most adults who've played these games didn't care much about their folder being good, or didn't understand what a good folder even was. You would also have to try really hard to ruin your save with dark chip penalties, especially when you can boost your HP with the navi customizer in the same games dark chips are in.
I have a distinct memory of beating BN2 on the drive to elementary school one morning in the middle of winter so I guess you were just a dumb kid. Admittedly I don't remember beating the post-game of any of them as a kid, but I do know I at least reached Serenade in BN3.
Specifically in BN5 you can really gimp yourself when it comes to the final boss. Nebula Gray is an extremely dodge-heavy fight and he can only be hit by specific chips. Its completely reasonable for it to be too difficult for somebody that hasn't invested into proper deck-building, especially when affected by the negative consequences of dark chips.
honestly that describes every final boss from 3 onward with the exception of Gregar
I stopped watching after Greg got kicked off, too. It wasn't even the same show anymore.
>no, I don't play this RPG for the words in front of me, why would I
absolute brainlet take holy shit, these are the people saying 4 is actually good? I wish I could be as ignorant as you
>irreversibly damages cart if you use the link feature too early
>ungodly amount of typos, spelling mistakes, translation errors and even dialog that seems to be from an earlier draft and unrelated to the final version
>shitty scenarios that sometimes even contradict each other like the Aquaman and Burnerman ones
>filler scenarios with generic Navis so they could split the game into two versions
>need to play through the game multiple times to enter the post-game
>Dark Chip stuff feels like an unrelated side plot, only one scenario even involves them and it all gets resolved in the dumbest way possible
>almost all of the new virus types like the bomb-homosexuals, circle robots, sheep and spiders suck ass and aren't fun to fight
>filler scenarios with generic Navis so they could split the game into two versions
Even if you cut out all the filler navis, you'd have too many for one playthrough if you include all content, you're just two scenarios shy of a full three run game.
There's no winning.
The two versions of 4 are just shy of one full game.
You're getting a large amount of repeat content if you play one version. About 3/4 of your playtime is repeat content if you play both. It's indefensible.
the fact that THAT stupid song still gets stuck in my head at any mention of it
Which one?
that dumbass crisis one that's like a 5 second loop and plays for the entire fricking postgame
Wasn't that also an issue with 6?
Yes to the point where the 6 JP patches had to remove it
Odds of them actually changing that for the collection?
It's an objective flaw that I think no purist would defend
Doesn't seem like a thing they would change. This collection seems kinda lazy with that dumb filter on.
0%.
They didn't fix X6, they're not fixing anything here.
5 has the least potential to be merged due to tying version exclusives to non-negotiable story events that can't really be put on the same game without major changes. Meanwhile 3 would only need to make Mist Man an optional fight, 4 literally already has a scenario randomizer, and 6 only has two points where 5's problem crops up with two VERY OBVIOUS "correct" routes.
>6 only has two points where 5's problem crops up with two VERY OBVIOUS "correct" routes.
Which are the very obvious correct routes?
Aqua and Tomahawk.
Lan trusting Mr. Match may be kino bookends, but the scenario was clearly designed for Aqua Man.
Lan already mended his relationship with Match by 4
And then pretended he didn't in 6 because you might have picked a different version. Either way, Shuko and Dingo were clearly who the guest Navi scenes were designed for.
No online, no buy.
Rev up your favorite download site.
Why is it RP rating if it dosen't have online involved? The whole series is 20 years old
probably have to sort through all the the art and see what is removed. chances are all the boktai stuff will get removed.
>insert BN2 screenshots here
It's a different time, with different standards.
The guidelines change over the years, what might have been okay for an E rating in the past might not be now, and viceversa.
Because they're not revealing everything yet, and if rumors are to be believe the games are being retranslated.
>NOOOOO EVERYONE JUST HATES MY GAME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PLAY IT AND THEY'RE ALL SHEEPLE, IT'S NOT A BROKEN PIECE OF SHIT STOOOOP
Imagine being that anon.
>Why is it RP rating
Because every game has to get rated even if it's a re-release.
Same reason why Kirby the Crystal Shards is now T for Teen
Things get reevaluated when they get rereleased.
What the frick does Crystal Shards have to make it T? Blood for the edgelord boss?
That plus it crying blood tears to spit at you and the writhing, bleeding tentacle on its ass.
Mayl is milking (you)
I only played BN5 Team Colonel. Are the other ones worth it?
Yeah
Play 6 at least since it flows nicely from Colonel
5 and 3 are the best ones.
Both.
People will say either BN2, BN3, or BN6 are the best. BN5 is generally considered middling. I would recommend either BN2 or BN6 to play, because BN2 shares a bunch of characters from BN5, so you'll see why Lan's tripped out about having them on the team, whereas BN6 is a sequel to BN5 Colonel, but it only really matters for the lategame (if you play Falzar version, then you'll see Dingo again).
>BN6
no
no
no
Why this thing filtered newbies so much?
*Blocks your path*
I especially hate the sheep due to how bullshit they are to S rank since the wool makes them hard to double delete with other viruses. Not to mention they're unbelievably tedious to kill buster-only unlike almost all other enemies in the franchise.
Just use Gunsol
I never want to go through the hell of Wooly3's ever again, speedy bastards that can't even be opened up with busters, some of the worst viruses I've ever had the displeasure of running into many, many times from just trying to advance plot
They are just annoying to deal with because they are practically immune to a bunch of chips with start lag.
BN2
BN3 Blue Version (Black version US)
BN4 Red 1 playthrough, Blue Moon 2 playthroughs so you can fight a refined version of Numberman
>BN5 protonan, of course
>BN6 Gregar because that monster was cooler
woops forgot my meme arrows lads
>BN4 Red 1 playthrough, Blue Moon 2 playthroughs so you can fight a refined version of Numberman
If you link up with a completed game, you can play all the scenarios in one game.
>BN5 protonan, of course
Colonel is canon.
>BN6 Gregar because that monster was cooler
>A rehashed Gospel is cooler
Lel, wrong.
In US BN3 were white and blue versions there wasn’t a black.
Whats your favourite transformation?
If HubStyle actually looked like the art, it would be that. For gameplay + design, then the BeastOuts are cool.
JunkSoul's pretty cool too.
Aqua Cross in 6. I love the instant charge shots.
>Tfw Aqua soul's charge is also fast
>For some reason all the souls in 4 have set damage and don't scale like in 5/6
bass cross and sol cross
My answer defaulted to a cross which just goes to show how successful the cross system was and how great 6 was overall.
Searchsoul was always my favorite.
We need more!
They'll be adding new ones into this collection
Lies
I promise I'm not lying
>X challenge adds a new armor
>Art looks cool as shit
>Actual sprite looks like a deviantart recolor
>Probably would be the same case if they did add more crosses in the BN collection
Where did all the good sprite artists go
Overall Falzar wins for me.
>Heatman form
>Elecman form
>No recycled forms from previous games
Seriously what's the argument for not choosing gregar over falzar? Shoving both Tomahawk and Aqua into Falzar was a huge mistake and makes it look like the cheaper game. At least Heat and Elecman were boss only navis and never gave you double souls before.
>argument for not choosing gregar over falzar
two souls designed around fire chips is a wasted slot
two souls designed around break chips is a wasted slot
dust cross doesn't get any bonuses to break chips, it focuses entirely on obstacle chips
Flazar IS the cheaper game.
They wanted you to absorb Not!Gospel to fight Bird!Bass.
Knight Man.
these games really deserve a Game&Watch style handheld release, something will be lost without the GBA handhelds and jacking in the link cables
>jacking in the link cables
Look at this boomer moron.
soulless
indeed, something was lost
moron.
>which introduced mainstay features
Like?
>Running from battles
We could stop there, but
>* code
>Regular Chip
>General custom screen/folder changes
>SubChips
>Enemy names
>Unique Internet Area designs, including NetSquares and post-game secret areas
>Job BBS
>Style Changes, which paved the way for other transformations
>Link-exclusive chips/features (this is a negative, but it is a mainstay)
>Running from battles
You mean you can't flee from battles in 1? Seriously?
Only if you draw the Escape chip from your deck. Also battles in 1 are slow as shit and take about twice as long as the random encounters in 2 and beyond.
>Be kid
>Didn't own a GBA when Battle Network 1 came out so I started with 2
>Ok cool I can pretty much guess what I missed with Dr. Wily making a LifeVirus or something
>Get to the end of the game
>Lan starts calling MegaMan Hub and saying he's his brother.
>lolwut
That's probably the one big thing they don't explain from BN1
Yeah, that was me but with BN3 except it's more like halfway through the game and they start talking about how MegaMan was Lan's brother and died, just like this new kid they met's about to. I don't think it's even a plot point in the anime either, so if you didn't play BN1 there's no way to get filled in properly.
So... Is megaman back?
>BN
>mega man in any way shape or form
???????????????
Yes.
moron
So are these games fun in singleplayer?
Yes they are legitimately fun Action RPGs and that's the main reason people like them. The multiplayer is actually hilariously unbalanced until the 6th and final game.
6th game is still incredibly unbalanced for pvp, pvp has always been an afterthought for these games. Which is fine, focusing on the singleplayer experience for a singleplayer game is the correct call, but the people who pretend theres not a frickload that could be improved with 6's pvp are delusional, and sadly theres a lot of them too.
4=5>6>3>2>1
As usual morons itt can't provide objective reasons for 4 being bad, only subjective opinions.
>Can literally brick your game by using a major advertised feature because it's so poorly fricking made
lies
both 4 and 5 have more limited deck building with less choices available to you before beating the game
Again, completely subjective opinions that don't actually have any bearing on the games overall enjoyment.
Yeah, if you're talking about the "bug" that occured in blue moon on aquamans quest (or wood, can't remember), that was actually proven to be fake and is completely unreproduceable.
how is limited deck choices something subjective?
Because thanks to other systems in the game (namely souls), it allowed for a much more strategic approach to deckbuilding with more reason to include weaker chips to get the element spread that you wanted, as opposed to just always slotting in the highest damage or easiest to hit chips on a standard playthrough. Not to mention 4 and 5 had more creative chips than 6, quality over quantity.
No you moron, the link connection glitch that will literally brick your game if you use it before defeating all the version exclusive navis.
If "you have to do New Game+ twice and repeat the same damn theme park scenario 3 times to unlock the full postgame" isn't considered an objective flaw, then "objective flaws" don't exist
>that was actually proven to be fake and is completely unreproduceable
Anon is feeling really bold today I see
Woodman's quest and it's personally happened to me but I guess deliberately having bad opinions to force discussion is fine
every fricking game is has the same formula, shit is happening in this place now and you are the only that can solve it
with 4 is just , lets use waste time in this fricking tournament, nothing else is gonna happen in the game , every navi you are gonna fight you are gonna find in here.
Cope
I still don't know how 2 possibly got that low. For me it's on par with 6 and sure as hell better than 5.
BN5chads arrived
Because most people that like BN2 also like BN3, and given the choice pick 3, hence that takes votes away from BN2 being the "best". Vote splits are why you shouldn't take this as an overall ranking.
People who haven't actually played all the games and base their opinions off Ganker comments are the main demographic for this poll is how
massive cope
small sample size, plus 2 and 3 are relatively similar so since you only have 1 vote, the people who like 2/3 the most chose 3 more often
>I still don't know how 2 possibly got that low
There should be a ranked choice poll. A lot BN3gays would say 2 is 2nd or 3rd best.
Put 5>4 and that's basically my list.
The sprites for 1-3 are honestly really ugly and dated for me, but 4-6 still look modern.
And then 6 is below 5 and 4 for a number of reasons that I'm too lazy to list.
Do you eat cum for the taste or for the protein
>recommending 2
Hmm alright, theres plenty of good things there
>recommending playing 4 and if you want more play the rest
opinion fricking discarded , shut your fricking mouth you fricking moron, what the frick is wrong with you
3>5>6=2>4>power gap>1
Lib missions are baller
6 would be higher if it weren't so piss easy
1 is a gigantic chore to play. Even OSS, which gets rid of a ton of 1's bullshit, is only mediocre at best
I still think it's really funny that OSS replaced armors and nobody gave a shit
probably bc 1s armor system is completely worthless
>Lib missions are baller
Come on, MMBN1 wasn't that bad. I just finished it last week. It's just a little barebones, but the skeleton of the franchise is already very nicely built.
>(almost) forced to fight every single battle
>no tension in battles since you fully heal after every one
>ice man's dungeon
>elec man's dungeon
>repetitive internet
>PAs are lame
>elec man's dungeon
I wouldn't call it a bad game but I have no desire to ever play it again
>
I don't think Elecman's dungeon was that bad. The battery recharges were right next to the panel almost every single time, and the puzzle itself was not really hard, if anything Number Man was the one who got the worst one in my opinion. The hacked programs attacking you were really cool, especially the one that outright begs you to kill him.
I will agree with Ice Man and the huge backtrack if you slide down the wrong path also I got stuck right at the start because I didn't think you'd be able to slide diagonally
>(almost) forced to fight every single battle
I didn't feel the need to run away from battle myself, I don't think the spawn rate of enemies was that obnoxious and besides a few outliers they weren't insurmountable either.
While I do agree the games get a lot better as they go on mechanically, I just don't think MMBN1 is such a dealbreaker.
Elec man's dungeon is designed to just waste your time. The invisible pathways, the "puzzles" which are just trial and error, and having to run back to the progs is just pure tedium. Number man's dungeon is equally uncreative but its over much quicker at least
>some moron I hate asks me which game he should play to get started into the series
>"just start with the first one, bro!"
>t-this kinda sucks, are you sure this series is good?
keep at it bro, it gets good right after that part, I promise
Am I the only one on this board that likes the first game?
We like MMBN in here so probably not but it's objectively the worst of the main games. What's there to like about it that isn't better in the other games?
4 and 5 are objectively worse games.
1 has the best dungeons.
i played the games in this order: 5 6 1 2 3 4
and 1 was actually really fun, sure he net was a b***h to navigate but what i liked most was how powerfull the buster was
i put all points in strenght and speed and just spammed buster
I played 1 after 2 and 3 and still liked it. It felt like a lacking experience but it also felt quick to run through.
Well if they refuse to play it, it's their lost.
Just know that they will never know about skullman and his operator, best music stage, Ms Mari twins, and all around introductory things.
skullman and sharkman never actually being brought back in any later game is unironically gay as hell, sharkman would've made a MUCH better aqua soul than fricking Aquaman
>sharkman would've made a MUCH better aqua soul than fricking Aquaman
True, but Shuko > Masa
I don't mind the first game. I miss some things from the following games but it's not a game I dislike. I've been playing it and I can't believe I forgot about Sal. It's been like 15 fricking years since I played the series.
I never liked that the anime turned her into a stupid power ranger
No
She's my favorite but I'm pissed her and Colorman only appeared in the first game.
and Network Transmission. Now Magicman was really cucked.
The only reason she's not in 6 is because the character designer saw all the porn and made a younger version for e-girlcon purposes.
What porn?
Probably the secret stash the artists made
If they retranslate jacking off I'm gonna be mad
>everyone begs Jirard to play BN series
>just plays 1 then quits
Hate when e-celebs do that.
Even worse when it's "can I skip this one game?", then there's a bunch of peolle saying no but 1 person say yes and then he goes "okay then I will skip it". This happens all the time in this blsrd too and it drives me up the fricking wall
1 is perfectly skippable, giga autists
have a nice day.
i started hating the shit out of his videos the moment greg left, Jirard or whoever makes the scripts tries way too hard to be funny sometimes and it's horrible, but the part that made me stop watching was a video where he showed all the people helping him with the videos and everyone was fat as frick and eating unhealthy shit it was disgusting i didn not want to support people like that any longer
To be fair MM1 suck ass too
>Caring what a fat guy with a gimmick Youtube channel who has nothing of substance to say about games thinks.
You may as well just skim reviews and pretend your fake friend played it.
That's objectively the correct way to do it, though. If you really hated him, you should've told him to 100% 4.5.
What counts as 100% in 4.5
Finishing the Chaos Area (and the tournament afterwards) with all 21 Navis.
4 literally feels like anime filler the game. Even as a kid I felt the entire thing being a tournament with a lot of generic Navis felt really off.
Also lots of generic navis and RNG on which non-generic bosses you get to fight makes seeing everything tedious.
I think dark chips are a cool idea but their implementation is just terrible. Permanently lowering your HP with no way to undo it means that everyone will decide right from teh start if they are going to use them and just cheeze the entire game or never use them.
It's also by far the buggiest game in the series.
As a kid I liked it and even now I think it's still fairly fun if you aren't planning on getting/doing everything but it is clearly significantly worse than the other games in the series
>4 literally feels like anime filler the game
This is true. They even based the plot a bit more on the anime than the games (hence Lan not extinguishing Mr. Match the second he saw him).
Kek
I don't add Gokeks, sorry
If they don't re-add the cut jack-in animations that were removed from 2 and 3 to save cartridge space, then no buy
EXE3's is ugly though.
Now, the Navi Customizer animation, that needs to come back.
These are starting to look like generals now. Might be time to pack it in.
I'm not ready for threads to be deleted on the spot again
To be honest, they should be. This is just porn dumps and people who don't play the games going
>its totally gunna be good you guise, it just has to be, my favorites are y>penis>z>x>moot, now give me 50 (you)s
like none of this is actual discussion.
By that standard most threads on this board should be deleted
Most threads on the board are not continuous.
It will ultimately evolve into a few autist setting up shop and spouting the most contrarian opinions possible to keep the thread going and it looks like we are getting there already.
Would you play a batte and chase 2
nitro man and turbo man just transform into their vehicle form instead of riding cars like the others
only if she's still playable
Battle Network 3 is a perfect gam-
HM 01 Press
HM 02 Energy Change
HM 03 Alpha
This and also the fact that the Internet stays grey into the postgame where so annoying.
What would the definitive Battle Network game be like?
Mega Man Starforce 3
don't bring back all of the obnoxious viruses that no one likes like boomboys
slap in as many features as you possibly can, just go nuts with the side content and shit to do
absolutely massive chip folder potential, let me have crazy options that work together in crazy ways
don't treat readers like complete fricking morons
proofread your script
realistically, having lan's shitty friends actually have a purpose through the story instead of being objects to rescue because their worthless asses couldn't do it themselves, it's why I give BN5 and 6 a pass cause they limited them down as much as they could and the cast we got instead actually contributed
there's probably more but that's just off the top of my head
>realistically, having lan's shitty friends actually have a purpose through the story instead of being objects to rescue because their worthless asses couldn't do it themselves
this is how mega man works. being a hero is hard work and not everyone is fit to save the day.
that's the thing though, in BN I've seen it done way better, I thought I'd hate that goddamned recurring Chessman butthole but he ended up being a bro from the time he joined up onwards, and Team Protoman/Colonel actually did shit
Lan's friends are supposed to be at least semi-competent net battlers and I have seen Dex, singularly, had like two moments in the entire series where he did something useful
The issue lies in the fact that MegaMan Battle Network is a single-player game with a single playable character (Lan and MegaMan are basically functionally the same unit). Gameplay calls for the player to do everything themselves because you know what we call a video game in which NPCs do all the work for you? A shitty video game. This is ultimately why no one other than Lan and MegaMan are able to get anything done, and also why Lyra Note in Star Force is completely useless.
I'm not asking them to do all of the work for me, I'm asking them to feel like they're not complete dead weight that only exists to give me problems to solve, and that really should not be a problem when, again, we've had games where NPCs were not this
NPCs can belong in a single player game that contribute in meaningful ways without eclipsing the main character, this is possible, feasible, and I've seen it done not only in this series but many, many others
>they're not complete dead weight that only exists to give me problems to solve
okay wily
>This is ultimately why no one other than Lan and MegaMan are able to get anything done
There are literally SEVERAL moments in the Battle Network series where Lan/Netto's friends show up having tagged in after him against better advice and give him the
>you go do what you have to, we're going to hold down the fort here and have your back
speech.
Doesn't change the fact that Lan's dad and grandpa designed shit such that everyone else gets a handful of attacks while Hub has so many BattleChips actually featuring his likeness. Do WWW NetOps just not use Spreader because they get pissed at Mega Man's appearance on the chip?
i thought about that one for a long time, and it would be a reboot sequel of the first 3 games in one, all the story beats and characters on going and form fitted to be in the same game, all the features introduced in later games come into the experience earlier on the first game bits, ect. and then a follow up to that game that does the same for the next 3 games.
I think this sounds like an awful option, I think too much happens for mixing 3 games, 2 at a time I could see, they could mix the story of 4 in with the grand prix from 3, 5 and 6 could easily fit together other than the command missions or whatever they were called not really working with 6, 1 and 2 I don't see any reason they couldn't be mashed together.
if you think 3 instead of 2 games should be made, then gotta give you props
i am very big into consolodation, and making cuts where needed to make things fit. story can be changed, enemies rearranged, such.
Mixing 3 and 4 would be cool. Imagine if they just said, frick it let them have Souls and Styles at the same time. Give them ALL the chips!
ah, I hadn't thought of the implications of mixing a soul game with a style game, though I still think making the whole series into 2 games is too much, not that I would be opposed to having some 60 hour long MMBN game.
I think it would be cool. I'd love a celebration of the series where they went totally wild instead of just a rerelease
But yea, it'd be very hard to mix games in general would be weird.
How would you activate Search Soul in 4 and Shadow Soul in 3?
>Shadow Soul from 5.
how would liberation work with 6 more team members? Or potentially ~12 more if the Souls from 4 jumped in to help.
I'd like to say you would have a list to pick from until you get 6 members, so lets say you want both magnet man AND knight man, or toadman and meddy(?) and the number of navis you can put on the team is increased over the course of the game.
same way it did in BN5
>other team mates are watching the back to prevent a nebula flank
>only a few members were able to answer the emergency call on time
now you're thinking with portals
no random encounters, enemies appear on the field
>BN6 with 3's difficulty and the good parts of the postgame
>BN2 styled internet
>Hard mode with a proper newgame+ system
>Nice mix of returning and new characters
>Library that has a lot of shit that you can get really creative with
>Game goes for quality rather than length
Pretty much my ideal BN give or take
Shanghai.exe
They already made it:
Network Transmission. Oldskool Megaman/Rockman platformer gameplay with collectable battlechip weaponry integrated. Really; it just needed a bit more of the gimmicky transformation stuff from the other games like the soul unisons to give it that bit more finish and brand-classic "you got <power>!"-feel.
Departing from there? Metroidvania style connected hubs.
And abilities you have to find that form traversal powers; like double-jumping; air gliding; etc.
Why is he called rockman?
Because his sister is roll
Rock and roll
That's funny
He rocks
I still hate that 5 and 6 finally let you play as characters other than Mega Man and they're just... not fun at all. They can't do any of the shit they can do when you fight them, and they just control like Mega Man with 1 extra chip that probably doesn't mesh with the deck you've built. What is the harm in letting us run loose controlling a boss once in a while? Maybe give them an entirely exclusive deck with cool moves Mega Man can't do?
4.5 somewhat aims for the feel you're describing. Too bad its an odd side game with no plot and it won't be in the collection. At least there's the fan translation for the ROM.
BN isn't Megaman.
Yes, he is. Get over it.
It's been twenty years anon, you lost.
BN is the build fighters of mega man. It's part of the series but you probably have brain damage if it's all you care about.
Classic = MSG
X = 00
Z = Seed
ZX = AGE
SF = G-Reco
BN = Build Fighters
Legends = Turn A
Power Battle = G
I played the entire main, X and Zero/ZX series back in their prime, yes Battle Network is very much Megaman and unironically the one that holds up best for me.
go back to the general
take him to the dumpster nobody wants him
BN is better than Megaman
Started with 3 Blue, got it for Christmas back in 2003 with an SP. I've played 4 (Blue Moon), 5 (Colonel), and 6 (Falzar), but never did play the first two games.
I remember my thoughts for each game
3
>FlameMan is really hard
>This story is pretty good
>Wow, so much secret stuff after you beat the game
4
>Double Soul is really cool
>I like tournaments
>Aaaah daaaaate and what's a Boktai
>Why can't I just have the Red Sun content too?
>Do I really have to play through this multiple times?
5
>I'm not sure if I like liberation missions, they're hard to do perfectly
>The tone of the game is kind of weird
>This is kind of hard
6
>I don't like the premise of Lan moving away after all this time
>I don't care about most of these characters
>Battle system is at its best though, chips might be overpowered because of how many have utility
I had the exact opposite reaction to MMBN6's move. I had no attachment to Lan's friends. Iris alone had more depth to her character than every single previous character combined.
It got the reaction of me that a kid would have of moving away from his hometown with all his friends and memories because of his parents relocating for work. There was no history with these characters. I'll acknowledge that the regular cast was pretty one note and that I only really liked Mayl because she was the "designated love interest" whose only real personality was being into you.
is right. But it's still not a happy feeling to imagine someone moving into your childhood home.
I might agree, if I cared that much about Lan and his feelings. As things stand, the writing in MMBN6 was SO bland that Lan didn't really have a significant reaction to the move and never really got hung up over it at all so it's kind of hard for me to give a shit.
Actually, you know what WOULD be interesting? If Geo moved away. HE would actually react. Can you imagine just how obscenely depressed he'd be if he couldn't be with his friends? I'd actually fricking give a shit if he moved somewhere else. I'd probably hate it but I'd still, you know, FEEL something about his situation.
that would've been a plot point on SF4 too
being a fugitive not being able to contact anyone etc
I was 12 when I played it so I wasn't really criticizing the writing. Like I remember BN4's silly lines and nonsense story, but in the context of being 10 years old when I played it, I just accepted it.
Need a qrd on the japanese ds version of the first game and why its better than the gba orginal version
it's got a few extra scenarios involving Star Force, a playable Star Force Megaman, and a map for the insane design of BN1's internet, and that's honestly kinda it
See, the problem with Mayl is that while she's excellent eye candy, that's all she is. I can't remember a single fricking thing she's ever said aside from that cringe "I'll leave my heart with you!" at the end of MMBN2.
I extend these exact thoughts to Dex and Yai as well, just without the eye candy part. I remember Dex fricking up multiple times, so I guess that's technically something more.
I think Dex is generally more memorable than the others, but I don't particularly care about him THAT much.
The problem with MMBN is that there's a LOT of talking in these games. Just a metric frickton of dialogue that I don't give a frick about. It can get grating at times.
fair enough
I feel like I remember Dex's little brother more than Dex, and that's only because in BN4 where he somehow put together a massive fake hostage situation that spanned multiple servers across the internet and like three cities just to make it so we forfeited the match against Dex
I'm just glad BN lets you skip cutscenes no questions asked because it could've very easily fallen into the modern pokemon trap of having a million words of forced shit
Dex had some nice moments in BN3 with him moving and saving you from Copyman
that's most chicks in mega man
I know, she's the perfect female.
What's the best Pokemon version of each of the BN games? I don't want to pick the wrong one and have you guys laugh ay me.
I don't think there's a right version for any of them, play whatever, except Team Colonel, that's objectively the right version
Only one that matters is colonel
>But what about blu-
Don't matter
Colonel.
Others are whatever though Blue is usually considered to have a little more content.
Trick question: none of the originals. You should just make sure to pick up the english patched Japanese WiiU version of the roms.
Choose the one with the Navis you like. As far as I'm concerned, ProtoMan isn't really a character, more of a prop, and Colonel isn't much better so neither of them were factors for me. Princess Pride's cute, not that she does much in the game, but there's really not much reason for me to choose one version over the other so I gotta take what I can get.
Sometimes, I question if I even really like MMBN or not, but the gameplay and designs are good so that's probably enough for me.
I disagree on Colonel, but that's mainly for one scene near the end. It's in character for Protoman to just show up at random points to be the deus ex machina, multiple times throughout the series, but if you're doing that same scene in Protoman version then this guy you've never known and aren't attached to just shows up, does his thing and peaces out until BN6. Doing Colonel gives you at some semblance of a setting up point for what goes down when you see him again standing next to Wily.
Maybe, but I didn't have a strong reaction to Baryl's betrayal either so, you know. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why Baryl helped save the world in MMBN5 if he was just gonna try to frick it up in 6 but I don't really care that much.
6 was easy as shit for me. I like the Gregar form better than the Falzar form and HeatMan is one of the cooler looking Navis. Now, I don't understand why Mr. Match is allowed anywhere fricking near a school after the stunts he pulled in MMBN1 or 2, but I'm beyond giving a shit about stuff like that.
>I'm not entirely sure why Baryl helped save the world in MMBN5
Baryl was never a truly bad person just a victim of his circumstances
Also part of Wily's mo to slap some sense into Regal
Whichever answer you prefer
So he saves his biological kid (rather late) but then nearly fricks up his adopted kid. Kinda shitty, Wily.
Wily was never claimed by anyone to be a good parent, or even a good person, at the end of the day. Even his "fixing" of Regal came off less like he was doing it for his sake and more of a "sit the frick down, boy, I'm the only one who can take over the world regardless of the shit I made you into" kind of scenario.
Wily and Baryl mostly did it for Regal's sake since he was doing stupid edgy shit that'd make 14 year cringe from embarrassment. Also Wily probably had some emotional attachment to SoulNET and didn't want it bastardized for an evil scheme.
3: Blue
>In Japan, 3 was originally released as a regular game, but got director's cut BLACK version a few months later. In English, they released them as a pair, with BLACK becoming Blue and the vanilla 3 becoming White.
4: Blue Moon
>Literally just so you get an opportunity to use Proto Soul since I'm recommending Colonel for 5, you'll get overlap with NumberMan though
5: Team Colonel
>Similar situation to 3 where one version of the game was released a few months later, though Team Colonel is less of a director's cut and more about building upon a character only briefly seen in Team Protoman, and this will tie into 6.
6: Cybeast Gregar
>Just so there's no overlap with AquaMan and TomahawkMan from 4 and 5.
>In English, they released them as a pair, with BLACK becoming Blue and the vanilla 3 becoming White
They were really moronic enough to do this?
Most of the improvements to Black were rolled into White for the NA release, Blue-exclusive Punk is the only remnant of the game being an enhanced version for us.
>you'll get overlap with NumberMan though
NumberMan is based though so I fail to see the problem.
It's a shame that he'll miss out on Guts Soul, Roll soul and Search Soul, really hope the games have online so they can do the whole "link up with opposite version to unlock version exclusive opponents"
its a shame white has ground style, i love it so much more than shadow style
but the antidamage program is definitely op
It's really bullshit that 3 and 4 and 6's content never got combination releases and STILL won't be merged. 3 barely has different shit, 4 is less than half a game, and 6's content is almost all optional.
>Having 6 pvp with every cross and both cybeasts in your disposal
Good lord
It'd be insanely stupid and fun.
Even 5 DS didn't really get merged, they just put both games on a DS cart and added the ability to swap out version exclusive navis during liberation missions, you still can't get their souls unless you play their respective campaign.
BN3 Blue
BN4 either
BN5 Colonel is the canon one
BN6 Gregar is also the canon since the beastform is cooler
>Gregar is also the canon since the beastform is cooler
Nice bait. Falza is the canon one since Lan already know Shuko and Dingo also, Falza crosses are way more useful
Gregar virgins will never beat Falza chads in pvp
>Falza is the canon one since Lan already know Shuko and Dingo also
That means jackshit.
Gregarious is canon because Bass absorbing Gospel twice is stupid.
This, double gospel is dumb
On the other hand, Gregar means you get a rehashed final boss.
Gregar being way more mobile makes him fun
Though I wish he had a
>Frick your transformation
Attack like Gospel did
Gospel was a bootleg gregar that was created from a child having an autistic meltdown so it would make sense why he would want the real thing
Yeah, but Flazar vs Gregar + Bug Gregar is way less cool than Gregar vs Falzar + Bug Gregar.
And Falzar was just some shittier cybeast made to fight chad Gregar.
>BN6 will never get combine version treatment like BN5
Why even live
BN5 never got combined, you still have to choose between the two games in the DS release
Yeah but you get to play Navi from different version in liberation mission
only if it gets me the return of surfer voice Megaman and gratuitously russian Colonel
I love the hustle and bustle of Netopia
>SF3 is when the series got good in all aspects (gameplay, characters, story etc)
>flops and kills megaman forever
2 was really that bad huh? The damage it caused couldnt be undone?
SF2 was genuinely fricking awful, and it was the game that deserved to flop but because it was riding off of a really solid SF1, it's the best selling game in the series, you can imagine what it did to the game's reputation
it wasn't even the last megaman game on the ds you idiot
Capcom killed SF before SF2 had the chance to kill the series by splitting SF1 into three fricking games and making brother bands play such a big role in the games to the point where you are missing out on core aspects of the gameplay for not living in a city packed full of japs enjoying what little of life they're allowed to during conmute.
More or less.
1-3 are legit good games. 4 and 5 flounder. 6 trues to course correct and ends up as a really short campaign in the process.
SF2 felt like one of those extremely boring yet so fricking conceptually stupid that you can't help but groan Battle Network scenarios except stretched into a whole game. The fat frick unironically becomes an amnesiac god for a bunch of abos.
>no sonia
>flops
hmmmm....
>Sonia was a gigantic moron in 2
>Sonia was so irrelevant in 3 that I have a hard time remembering anything she did apart from showing up with another idol whose wizard became the arc villain
They really had no idea how to use her. This is why Luna vs Sonia is even a debate.
Only reason Luna vs Sonia exists is because of Geo's smell fetish.
Luna looks like a walking pile of bad anime cliches
She's just a tsundere class president ojou-sama.
That's what he said.
Luna softens up on the tsundere bit which automatically puts her above most characters of the same trope.
Why is she chimping out here?
Star Force 2 wasn't as bad as people make it out to be and had a much more fun combat system than Star Force 1.
BUT, Star Force 2 also had a dogshit encounter rate, an equally dogshit set of villains, and basically drove every character into the ground. It's not an unpleasant experience like BN4 since the gameplay is fun, but it's not really great either.
The whole giant enemy mechanic that gives out a chip with +multiple of 10 damage made some multi hit chips busted imo.
True, but it was still more balanced than the Star Cards you can get in SF1 you could get with the Wave Scanner (or SFDX).
2's only problem was a high encounter rate
SING IT
>not s3 op
No
Why did 5 get a special DS version, anyway?
DS released and they wanted a game on the system.
Speaking of SF can we talk about how dumb is SF toy? Transfer design is not nearly as cool as PETs and Star Carrier is even worse, they look like outdated phone even by 2008 Just what the frick were they thinking?
They're meant to resemble Super Sentai transformation devices. Most transformation devices in Toku tend to have fairly retro feels to them since they're inherently bulky compared to modern tech.
>"we can sell this toy that cost us 5 cents to make for HOW MUCH?!"
geo's glasses are a way better idea for merchandise tbh
the battle network fanbase is SO autistic that i'm kinda shocked they got their LC after the zero collection flopped
at least they'll shut up for a bit and the worst we get is legends gays whining again
The fact that most people consider the first game not worth playing is awesome because that's the only one I played as a kid and I thought it was sick as frick
It's a good game, it just hasn't aged that well, it is however a good introduction if you haven't played the others, as it was for myself. Sadly I can't see myself replaying it again since the new ones fixed so many of the smaller issues that plagued it.
So play OSS instead. I don't know why people pretend they need to play GBA 1 anymore when OSS fixed all those small issues that plagued it and even added content. It's like saying you need to play GBA 5 when 5 DS exists.
I like playing GBA 5 for the chiptune music like https://youtu.be/0-CowdmaqPE
games don't age, your iq just gets lower
The amount of whining about online multiplayer is so funny because almost no one ever played the multiplayer in these games. There is a tiny community of trannies playing competitive battle network but everyone else just enjoyed the single player and moved on
starforce multiplayer is way cooler if you have friends so you can transform into tribe king
Man why did i pick Leo, now im 25 and i think dragon sounds cooler,
I picked Pegasus. I like blue and I've always dug human with wings designs for some reason. But if I had to pick one of the other two it would've been Dragon. Leo is definitely the lamest.
Sounds like kid you got hit with the Charizard effect and picked the red fire one with no thought.
idk how you're supposed to choose when they're all so cool, luckily no one has to anymore
>https://cdromance.com/nds-roms/mega-man-star-force-dx-hack/
GALAXY!
best robot master will never have a .exe counterpart or be in starforce where he would fit in perfectly
3 is the best game in the series, get a clue.
Starts at 2, ends at 3. I love 'em but BN is overrated. Starforce is way better.
2 is great, 3 is goat, 5 is great, 6 is pretty good
1 is clunky
4 is irredeemable dog shit
Bros are they really going to add new stuff? I don't think I can wait until 2023
command mission had this concept art for a rusty classic mega man, it got me thinking, if they never figure out what they wanna do for X9 i would at least like an x spin off about x learning some stuff about classic maybe something like
>X finds what seems to be classic mega man's ai
>the ai can't remember much but guides X on where to find the ruins of classic mega man stages
>X learns what happened to some characters fights a few bosses and collect old parts to make a body compatible with the ai
>Once the ai gets all it's memories back it turns out it was copy mega man, he was just distracting x so he could make a body as strong as X for himself
>the game wouldn't make it clear what really happened to classic character but it would leave enough clues to make theories about it
Capcom doesn't give a shit about MM lore. If they ever make X9 they are going to come up with entirely new idea and pretend like X8 and older games never happened.
>that pic
Channeling Black Getter much?
>Getter
Always was
command mission has so many cool designs, its not quite like the zero series but I feel it is different enough from classic X to be unique.
p.s does anyone have the megaman artbooks mega link? my hard drive died and I lost it.
I want to rape all of them
Remember how Roll.EXE had a stalker that kidnapped her?
4.5gay here
Why the frick am I not receiving any assassination/wreckjobs/officialmissions emails for shadowman, napalmman and protoman? I literally cannot increase my max HP
I had the same problem with mission emails hardly showing up, which fricked over serchman especially. Only "solution" I found was afking in the net for like an hour then jacking out and hoping to god a mission email comes in
Did you ever speed up on emulator? I'm fast forwarding all the fricking time and since that doesn't affect the ingame clock at all, I'm not sure if it ends up fricking up the game and cause some weird desynch
never used fast forward. no idea how your emulator tracks real time clock but on chink handheld, 4.5 draws the time directly from what's manually set on the device and there doesn't seem to be any problems. Mission mails are just moronic with how (randomly) long you have to play/idle to get them
Well, I guess that I'm swapping Napalm Man for Fire Man and dropping Shadow Man then. Trying REALLY hard to have fun with this game
the game's purposely designed to be played in short bursts every day or so, it's not really bingeable. fwiw my fun from the game came from crafting gimmick/specialty decks for each navi i played, like a geddon+snake+lance deck with windman and a colorpoint+area revenge build for serchman. its a ton of fun using decks made of chips i would otherwise barely touch in mainline games
>wanting native pc ports of gba games
A fricking toaster can emulate GBA games. If you're talking about a PC version of the collection, then I think it's happening, but it'll be split into two volumes for some moronic reason.
It's literally the Wii ports. They are just recycling the source code for modern devices.
>It's literally the Wii ports
No it isn't.
>but it'll be split into two volumes
Does it matter?
What are you betting on?
>Chrono X release
>Shanghai.exe update
>another BN fangame that isn't just roguelike One Step From Eden-type shit popping up
What do you call the battle network formula anyway?
BN-style battler?
it's just a deck building rpg with an atb gauge
2 homies on a nxn grid
>grid based tactical rpg with deck building mechanics
Deck-based RPG?
Call them chip FOLDERS, not card decks.
TCARPG
All three sound rather unlikely
i don't think this kinda roguelite precedurally genrated bullshit is ideal for something like battle network's gameplay.
But what if it were more like Hades in its format?
may you elaborate, oh kind anon?
Its a linear game, but, the plot and upgrades are locked behind death, and you may or may not lose everything on death.
Imagine Diablo.
Calamity Sanctuary dev just needs to enable the customization of the use order of its drawn cards. At the moment, it's worse than One Step From Eden, giving you an illusion of improvement yet being more linear in its card plays.
Yeah. Deck building is like half the fun of the game. You can't properly do that in a roguelite. Just look at OSFE, a good game in its own right, but just isn't the same satisfaction as MMBN.
>Chrono X release
Literally on the first transformation kek that's some wishful thinking
What's your favorite Robot Master redesign.
You already posted it. Pretty much all fire navis sans flame man are top tier looking.
So what’s the difference between the versions on the later games? Is it like Pokémon where it’s just a few different enemies/monsters or whatever and the story’s the same?
the gym leaders are different too
It's a shame 5DS isn't included, being able to play as the other navis at will was fun instead of being forced to go into Liberation Missions if you wanted to use them.
>Final Blue Moon double soul: Proto Soul, a fan favorite character
>Final Red Sun double soul: Thunder Soul...
Red Sun bros.........
red sun's capstone soul is search soul, which shits all over proto soul lmao
Reddy for Meddy?
No since I'm playing Team Colonel.
I feel like EXE could've used a proper Rush pet in game rather than have him as a generic enemy. Anime had the right idea when it came to making it a proper character.
I hated the soul system tbh, it made everything that didn't lead to a new double soul feel like filler or busywork to pad out the game between getting new souls. I preferred the style system that just gave you new random styles every couple of fights.
Getting Tomahawk/Napalmsouls in BN5 always felt dumb. Megaman knew both of those for a total of 5 seconds after they saved him and that was enough for him to get their double souls.
This is the stupidest fricking post I've seen in a while. The only meaningful flaw of 1 is the net overworld being hard to navigate, and 3 + 6 have far more meaningful content than 4.
Have a webm, I was testing stuff.
Man all of SF forms look like ass compared to BN. Like seriously jesus christ
Noises were fine, at least the standard noises and not the tacky cover ones.
Honestly, the only forms that look bad to me are the Tribe fusions, especially Tribe King being a mishmash that doesn't gel well.
Starforce 2 doubled down on the connect with other people aspect
Get a taste of double tribe with your auto brother but still need another friend for the third one
Straight up has gates (while just having optional shit though) that require real life link power friends to have enough
Can we collect all the chips on each version of there will always be an incomplete collection?
if there isn't multiplayer then it's pretty easy to assume it'll at least have the Wii U hack of going to the custom menu to get the multiplayer only chips.
hopefully with BN4 now giving you multiple copies of the standard class chips
yes.
Confession: I was always too moronic to use Var Sword.
It's why I never played fighting games, I just can't do these directional + button press inputs, I just can't.
I could do it but I never saw the point, since by the time you finished putting in the input for basically everything except Lifesword (or that busted ass element wideshot in BN3) the boss probably moved out of the way.
I can only do the sonic boom, anything else beyond that is fricking impossible for me.
The triple elemental sonic boom were kinda OP, and can be easily use with practice
That's what my friends told me for BN3 and I was still too stupid to pull it off more than 10% of the time.
>Namagem
Fricking mega man spelled backwards literally chris chan tier writting, what the frick where they thinking, they had the archie comics as the perfect blue print for a mega man show and if they wanted to do the school setting they also had the dreamwave comic to follow
They actually told the whole story they wanted to while the Archie book sputtered out and died before getting to a single story the writer actually wanted to tell.
Cope.
Battle Network getting 6 games while the MMZero only got 4 makes me so sad.
>Battle Network being rushed so hard that only three games were complete (two of which had severe problems), two were utter dogshit and one was basically 1/3 of a game while MMZ got three excellent games and a playable epilogue created solely due to fan demand.
I feel sad for Battle Network fans, too. They got fricked.
4 excellent games.
Tired of people saying z4 is shit
anon all four games were shit
It's not shit but it felt like a step down from Z2/3 which were the peaks.
Z2 was peak I just wonder why they killed that story arc off.
I called it a playable epilogue not because it's inferior, because it was an unplanned extension to create true closure. Sit down.
It was a good 4 game run so I don't mind
Only crime is that I feel like they were never able to recapture the same magic afterwards
>tfw want to play the games again
>don't want to wait for the collection, too much time left
>scared of getting burnt out if I play them again before the collection releases
What do
Play your favorite and shanghai
Since they're changing the way that text is handled in the games, I wonder if they're going to also apply that to the menus and give us chip names/descriptions that aren't horribly crunched.
2, 3 and 6. 1 can be tolerated, I'm going through OSS right now. 4? Yeah no.
Are there any games like BN aside from Shangai.exe? And I mean games like them, not One Step From Eden.
no
I found this the other day. It mentions about seven or so games.
Gregar is based on raw power which makes it more in line with Bass's unga mentality. Falzar is canon.
Manga and other media gives Falzar to Bass and the anime used Gregar for Megaman the most for the entirety of it.
I wish we got to fight fortebeast in 6
I feel like that was the intention but time constraints made them scrap the idea. At least they were able to implement it in some arcade game.
6 would've been the game to benefit from a Double team-like port the most
That is fricking awesome, it is just like his fusion with Treble.
Goddamnit that show always ended right as I got home from school.
>...and it's gonna be phoned in isn't it?
Think sonic origins, but MMBN. Yes.
Not a single MM collection so far has been as bad as origins
Legacy Collection 1 is just bad emulation with no content of value.
>Music tracks are mislabeled
Man what a joke
>if you wanted the whole battlenetwork experience then you really only need to play 2, and either version of 4,
you mean if you want the best and the worst?
What's a derogatory term for the players of card-based roguelites?
"troony"
"Troon"
"41%"
That's a catch-all derogatory term for literally anything though.
Yeah, but I've never heard of a "cisgender" playing that Eden game.
that's more for jannies tho
do you look up numberman codes online before beating the story?
Only use shit like navicust spins and subchips
Only color spins and subchips to reduce zenny farming
I remember the Grand Prix in MMBN3 being way more epic than 4's tournaments.
Actually controlling the other Navis in 5's liberation missions was fricking awesome. I can't believe people don't like those.
I always pretended that the other operators kept operating instead of letting Lan cuck them.
I really liked the 5DS feature that let you use them whenever you felt like it, even outside of liberation missions.
Holy shit. I never knew about that.
Yeah it's definitely one of the selling points. You can bring up to 2 non megaman navis around to use whenever you want.
Also get to do this
