>The small band of ragged defenders fleeing the nuclear explosion in Cascade Falls had come long way from the proud battalion landing in France in the early fall of 1989. It was months before the invasion of Seattle and the third World War had already been raging in Europe for several weeks. The outbreak had been sudden - if not unexpected - high-level diplomatics talk were still going on when Russian tanks started rolling through the Fulda Gap and on into West Germany. The diplomats had failed, and the armies had taken over.
>The U.S Sixth Fleet was destroyed during the initial fight and the Russians followed their success with an amphibious landing near Marseille. The French army was pushed back hard but U.S reinforcements soon arrived to join a counter-attack aimed at throwing the Russians back into the Mediterranean.
>We were all part endeavour - the unproven warriors of our generation, spoiling for a fight - and happy that our time had finally come.
Will we ever get such a kino campaign again?
Never ever.
Based WiC enjoyer.
Bannon was a homosexual, right until the end.
Frick you, Bannon redeemed himself
No, he offed himself because he realized we was too much of a homosexual for anything else.
Russians proved themselves to be comically inept in reality. So no.
The most unrealistic thing about this is the Sixth Fleet being wiped out
surface vessels have been sitting ducks since the 60s
>american jerkfest fantasy
call me when we're able to play as humans
You play as Norwegians in the early phase of a mission in the base game, you already got your wish.
>north of rhine/danube
>human
nice try g*rmoid
Pay debts
>he didnt play the game
Ganker is that way, son
>lose a platoon of tanks
>10 seconds later another platoon is ready to be airdropped
how the frick did you even manage to stay awake through this slop
Yeah you should've realistically been waiting for several weeks (real time) to get new tanks in this game.
Absolute fricking moron.
whatever, just don't pretend your glorified visual novel is a strategy game
it's a tactical game.
Wasn't a considerable portion of the game cut? The campaign would have been longer, and Parker would've fought the Chinese
I never understood what was the point of divergence.
I thought that was squeal.
>As the 1980s drew to a close, the Soviet Union found itself bankrupt, disorganized and unable to keep up with the United States in the Cold War arms race. Adding to this bubbling cauldron, President Reagan's US Strategic Defense Initiative, or "Star Wars" project, was threatening to significantly upset the delicate balance of mutual deterrence. Funds required for upgrading the Soviet nuclear arsenal and conventional forces were rapidly becoming scarce within the communist state. This led to increasing cuts in the civilian sector, which in turn caused widespread famines and supply shortages. As a last resort, the Soviet Politburo devised to blackmail Western Europe. They demanded from Europe the aid they needed, or they would invade and take it for themselves. The Western Alliance initially viewed the Politburo's threats as a bluff and attempted to orchestrate an end to the crisis through diplomatic channels. However, despite the West's fevered rhetoric, the Soviet Union had already decided on a path from which there was no turning back
(From the WiC Wiki)
essentially it's the Soviet union deciding "we will not go silently into the night." rather than doing as historical and smiling, waving, celebrating the fact your socialism is eternal as everything collapses around you
Have you guys ever face bug in one mission?
Thanks anon.
Aside from maybe a piece of debris flying away comically, no. I've never run into a bug.
Play mission 12 called Once More unto the Breach.
Be half way through get to the focus point. Mange to seize the focus point but nothing until I zoom the camera on that spot and then starts building defense.
Are you having a stroke or are you trying to speak English
>you will never again shit on heliBlack folk by spamming nothing but medium helis
Sad
>tfw I once managed to keep 5 Apache's alive from the very start of the game (minus the brief wait to afford the 5th one) until the end
Fired *two* tactical nukes that game, no less.
>Will we ever get such a kino campaign again?
considering r*ssoid army has proven itself to be utterly helpless against hohols with 1 javelin and a barrel with suspenders to cover their naked bodies, I'd say never ever.
>Russians followed their success with an amphibious landing near Marseille
>Casualties are still being counted as Russian conscript bodies are being paraded impaled on Palestinian flags among cheerful ALLAHU AKBAR chanting
Give me a real cold war gone hot this time, as great as WiC was, the premise of a failed empire somehow invading both europe and usa in its dying throes is laughable.
Now imagine soviets at their height calling NATO's bluff when it comes to the doctrine of nuking everything in panic when NATO was outmatched on the ground, that would be a lot more believable.
They wanted to go out with a bang. The real stupid parts was the invasion of France and the US. Those dudes had to know it was a suicide mission (no way to get back home, no way to get resupply) but the game never acknowledges this
>Those dudes had to know it was a suicide mission (no way to get back home, no way to get resupply) but the game never acknowledges thi
they trusted in the plan

Would be even more kino if it had the balls to have a full soviet campaign. The american campaign was boring and the characters were shit.
>and the characters were shit.
So were the russian ones. Malashenko was just an american character painted red.
