Face it, Company of Heroes is both arcadey and boring. Men of War, especially picrel, though in many ways imperfect and most certainly poorly optimized in terms of performance, provides the actual, fun, realistic experience of commanding a batallion-ish amount of troops in a battle. There's just nothing that can even compare.
vidya to exemplify:
>supreme at not being a RTS
>calls CoH "arcadey" for being an actual RTS
It will be easier for you to just release those obsessions from your head
This would be so good with a good building function, pre set trenches on all maps are boring.
It's kept alive by the modding community, good fun, terrible AI.
both games need mods to be enjoyable
Amen to that brother
Curious why you didn't mention Gates of Hell
An objectively better game that fixes many of the problems of MoW2AS while incorporating many of the things RoBz (whos on the dev team) brings to the table.
>muh robz
Absolutely fricking broken mod with no balance, chaotic battlefield that barely makes sense half the time. Just spam incredibly accurate artillery from your spawnpoint that counter both tanks and super nerfed infantry. Also le more realistic ranges so you can do stupid ass trickshots from behind the barn. Send forth cheap ass partisans to cap the assault squads in the middle after your artillery wrecks everything.
How can someone try out Vanilla and RobZ and think RobZ is good in comparison? I swear all the people that enjoy RobZ are turtlegays in normal RTS that get curbstomped for ceeding territory while here they can do the opposite.
Gates of Hell is far better since it doesn't enable artillery autism as much.
How can people play vanilla and think its good?
>infantry are basically invincible it takes a full mag from any gun to kill one guy you can literally just sprint up to machineguns
>tanks can be disabled but its basically impossible to destroy them (hull damage vs hull broken)
>tanks max range is like 100 meters
I barely even use artillery in robz and hitting your target 1/6 shells is not super accurate.
Counter battery, or just rush around the back line with any armored car ever built and kill the enemy arty. The barn thing is also a moronic argument why wouldnt you use cover?
Pretty much. When I first bought the game I played vanilla for 5 minutes before looking for a realism mod. Thank god for Robz
Too bad the AI is impossible to play with
This is just pure moronation detached from reality. Rifle shots kill in one shot. Light vehicles with anything larger than a machinegun annihilate enemies with impunity.
Black person what fricking game are you playing? Its clearly not mowas 2
This guy is posting complete bullshit.
Literally play the game for like an hour, its obviously true
>what is elite machinegunner
>mad cuz bad
>what is farshooting
It's not even that, with the first and third lines he's just taking the reasons people prefer MoW over CoH and applying them to MoW. And with the second line it's the same but he adds a twist to turn it into a negative.
I forgot. Good point.
Gates of hell is a sidegrade at best, the graphics and engine are massively improved as well as some qol and ai improvements.
However the doctrine system and popcap (i know mowas 2 has popcap) is fricking moronic and ruins the game.
>hmm lets lock 90% of the units behind moronic doctrine systems and special points
In mowas special points for the most part was just a free version of units you can spawn for mp. Even worse the shitty popcap is moronic
>100 cp max
>america has an infantry squad that costs 46 cp
>tiger 1 cost 50 cp
Your telling me i can have total 2 squads or a tank + a single squad to cover the whole map? Lol frick off devs never even heard of combined arms.
Robz was THE best way to play mowas and even it got worse as he "developed" the mod introducing the moronic doctrines that leaked to goh and even worse robz removed old features of his own mod. You used to be able to play with all units on 1940-1945 and have 400 cp. Modern robz is 200cp max for no reason and you can only pick one year of the war.
TLDR: Doctrines and popcap sucks ruining the game.
I don't know about you but all the multiplayer videos I've seen has combined arms.
GoH is in some ways better but in others worse. It's more clunky and unwieldly to actually play
Because the GoH AI is fricking broken.
Cause nobody plays multiplayer and the Dinamic campaign gets boring fast. Also the SP missions are not that good and are too disjointed.
Never heard of this game before. Must've been reeeeeally bad.
anyone who says "realistic" in the context of any game that isn't either a simulator or a spreadsheet should be taken to an animal shelter and euthanized for their own good.
I don't like how they give you super direct control over units.
Isn't this the game where you can command individual units to do autistic shit like having a guy suicide bomb?
Yes, anyone can cook off a brick of dynamite in their hand and suicide bomb, however japan is in the game and gets actual suicide bombers as a dedicated unit. Chad.jpg
I hate the #v a l o u r moronic dev Normand for changing how ammo works. It used to be a perfect mod that expands the roster of countries, vehicles, and infantry squads, but now it changes a core part of the game (logistics) in such a way that you can't use captured weapons anymore, and after you've depleted the initial set of ammo on your infantry, they fail to replenish it properly and run oit of ammo after 2 minutes of fighting. Frick you, Normand, your mod is ass.
>Normand
Kek, he is so easy to bait into the dumbest and most obvious troll arguments, I am amazed that I haven't gotten banned yet for it.
>infantry are basically invincible it takes a full mag from any gun to kill one guy you can literally just sprint up to machineguns
Just enable hardcore mode, jesus. That really isn't an argument unless you only play MP with tossers that refuse to enable HC.
Hardcore mode starts in call to arms not mowas 2. Also doesnt address all my other points.
Vanilla mowas "tactics" are just spamming 150 point light vehicles to run over infantry because its infinitely more viable then shooting at them.
I could have sworn that there was a faster kill option in AS2, I never played with mods that I didn't make my self.
I like Men of War AND Company of Heroes
Company of Heroes Blitzkrieg Mod is perfection
I watched some CoH 2, 3 gameplay and wasn't impressed at all in comparison. The fricking tanks clip through each other instead of having pathfinding? Why are the players excusing such glaring flaws?
>Company of Heroes Blitzkrieg Mod is perfection
Was perfection. It used to be fantastic and then lots of questionable decisions were made and player choice got stifled to the point where you no longer got to choose how you played the game they decided for you and railroaded you into certain play styles.
>The fricking tanks clip through each other
That shit is in 1 as well.
Sherman stacking was a legit tactic there.
Play less bloat mods and play actual game instead.
I love how much extra shit was added in this game from the valour mod, specifically all the small countries with year specific units. Then I played valour for GoH and was so let down by the number of missing factions and how it worked.
>bloatslop good
>provides the actual, fun, realistic experience of commanding a batallion-ish amount of troops in a battle. There's just nothing that can even compare.
Is this bait?
t. Combat Mission and Graviteam enjoyer
>t. Static AI Entrenchment AI Remover Simulator and AI Farming Killzone Wallpaper Generator
no need to be upset. nothing wrong with playing arcade games. just a little funny to call it realistic, and imply nothing else compares.
Men of war is also arcady and boring. Move over arcade bros.
What game is that?
Never mind, its combat mission
the new gates of hell dlc is so good
GoH sucks because instead of focusing on fun missions they focus on historical accuracy by adding 100 uniform variations.
yet all the singleplayer missions are either 2 hour defense missions that basically play themselves or 2 hour clear the map operations where the AI is just sitting there waiting to be killed.
And don't even get me started on the mission that has the germans patiently wait until you place down 500 mines.
>all the singleplayer missions are either 2 hour defense missions that basically play themselves or 2 hour clear the map operations where the AI is just sitting there waiting to be killed.
That sounds perfect. I will get it since it's on sale.
People who want to play singleplayer strategy games generally don't want a challenge.
>the mission that has the germans patiently wait until you place down 500 mines
Kursk in a nutshell.
Too bad it runs like SHIT
can anyone redpill me about this whole franchise? theres a bunch of games in there
It's russo jank company of heroes. The GEM engine is pretty amazing yet hilariously janky at the same time. It has amazing modability as well and there are mods for shit like Star Wars or Warhammer 40k.
The older games are pretty much not worth playing anymore since they barely run on newer systems so if you want to get into these games you either get Gates of Hell or wait for Men of War 2 since both of those run on an updated version of the engine.
can i play and enjoy both?
Gates of Hell is slower, more hardcore, and realistic while Men of War 2 will be more arcadey.
>He is a moron. Assault Squad 2 is much better than Gates of Hell
No it's not have a nice day trying to trick that Anon into buying old trash that barely runs anymore. Gates of Hell has 3 times the daily player base for a reason.
>inb4 some mega copium about that many people just having bad taste
>billion of flies eat shit! It MUST be good!
You are eating shit too.
Stop coping AS2 troon. GoH is better than AS2 in nearly every way starting with the stable engine that doesn't crash every 5 minutes.
Men of War 2 might be better than GoH because of the new AI though if that ever releases and Putin doesn't send the devs to die in ukraine.
>NOOOOOOO GOH IS SUPER STABLE AAAA
Works on my machine and clearly works for 5100 daily players :^)
Eh it's an Eugen Systems game. The scale is much larger than Company of Heroes or Men of War/Gates of Hell. Personally I don't like their games since the scale is too big for me at that point I just play grand strategy like Hearts of Iron/Darkest Hour
can any gates of hell and men of war anons shill me steel division? does anyone have opinions to share?
Steel Division 1 was fun but mostly in skirmish. The campaigns were honestly pretty boring. It was a little more autistic than Men of War but not too much. It had a HUGE emphasis on terrain because of line of sight and it was not uncommon to have and zoom in at ground level to get a better view of things from your unit's perspective. It was kind of clunky in that way but still fun and it was cool seeing units that you don't see often in other games.
Steel Division 2 is faaar too big in scale and I can't keep up with it so I don't find it fun. The campaigns are arguably better but they also have the moronic huge scope and demand an insane amount of hours each. The DLC is super shitty too, mostly remixing old units into new "armies" that powercreep the old ones. Devs are c**ts and keep recycling old content from the first game while refusing to make new maps in the western front, so you have shit like France fighting in Bumfrickingrad. I hate SD2 and it's a shame because it has even MORE cool units that have never been in another WW2 game.
Maybe you are just dumb and unable to see the game doesn't fricking work :^)
>Maybe you are just dumb and unable to see the game doesn't fricking work :^)
Look Black person you can cope all you want but the community has spoken and they prefer GoH over AS2. I might dump GoH for Men of War 2 + RobZ if that ever releases and actually has "advanced AI" like they promised thoughstever.
>Eugene
Better off playing with armymen to be honest with you.
>3x the players of AS2
>Quarter of the MP games
My favorite series of WW2 strategy games. It's not super autistic like a graviteam tactics but more detailed than Company of Heroes. It's a perfect balance.
Ignore the Anon that says old games are not playable anymore. He is a moron. Assault Squad 2 is much better than Gates of Hell, whose AI is dogshit broken. I would get AS2 with the airborne expansion for bots, get an AI mod from workshop and enjoy.
For me mowas2 finds a better balance between realism and gameplay, GoH is clearly geared more towards realism which makes for a less fun experience overall, especially in singleplayer where forming a cohesive AI offensive would result where tanks advance without infantry or infantry advancing without tanks which in turn makes the combat less realistic as now you have to face an enemy force much greater just to resemeble a challenge.
Skill issue friendo. Combined arms is perfectly doable. Deathballs/zerg rush aren't viable in GoH.
That's why it says AI, if anything it sounds like you're having a skill issue without having the massive benefits of """realism""" to make turtling easier.
should i get call to arms 1 with all the dlc?
>squad-based inventory management rts
>can’t give orders while paused
Never refunded anything so quickly in my life.
>squad-based inventory management rts
>inventory management rts
>rts
>real-time strategy
Turn-based Black folk (turn-basiggers) collective faces when they can't pause time to figure out how a turd got in their backpack at school
I really hate that theres no pause. I want a baldurs gate 2 style modern warfare tactics game so bad...
As someone who hasn't played any of these games what is a good one to start with.
MOW:AS2 or CTA:GOH-O?
Oh I should add I only care about playing single-player.
Your options are either GoH, MoW1 or Red Tide. AS2 singleplayer is a bad joke.
>AS2 singleplayer is a bad joke
Why's that?
Is it because it because the game is MP-focused or something else?
It's basically just a handful of skirmish maps with no variety and no setup. AS2 is entirely MP focused.
Ah okay, thank you.
Gates of Hell is only a couple bucks more than MoWAS2 so I guess I'll go with that.
You got duped, anon. AS2 has a shitload more campaigns, although it is true the missions are not really connected by narrative. They are certainly not skirmishes though, they are full of scripting and dialogue and shit.
GOH is a terrible game, perpetually broken, runs like shit and you can't even do skirmish because the AI is completely busted.
You're full of shit. It's the AI brainlessly charging the player across a large map, that's it.
>units not shooting at enemies they should be shooting at is perfectly normal!
Shut the frick up. This is why your garbage game always gets shit reviews after every wave of shilling. Endless fricking story of shills pretending everything is ok when the game has been busted for years.
Googling which game to get, most discussions say the AI in GoH is just as bad as the AI in AS2.
Most say to also just say
>both are good
>play both
Reading this thread it seems nobody has played and liked both. You o only like one game and the other is shit.
Could i get an answer that isn't a baiting shitpost?
I have both. The AI in AS2 campaign is fine, no problems. The AI in skirmish does tend to give up 25 minutes into matches, which sucks, but is easily fixed by a mod like this one and otherwise works perfect.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2780547085
The AI in GoH is literally broken. When you read morons saying "it's just as bad" they probably mean "it plays bad" or some other subjective metric. But no, AI is BROKEN. Units don't shoot at units they should be shooting at, which gets your guys killed. Tanks have shit targeting and will often prefer to shoot at some random soldier instead of shooting at the enemy tank about to blow you up. Pathing is worse than AS2 too. Unlike AS2 there are no mods to modify the AI either so you are stuck.
>Space required: 60gb
Listen, 60+ halftracks with different weapons bolted onto them take up a lot of space ok?
I think the problem is units don't shoot at enemies if you order them to sprint. In the name of realism they only shoot while they are stationary and that can lead to a janky feel. That's why using the B (cancel) hotkey is vital.
Miss me with that shit. They don't shoot even if they are stationary. They don't shoot even if you use the Attack Move command which is anything but. Do you think I've played 100+ hours of the franchise and don't know how sprint fricking works? Get real. You must be fricking stupid.
>Do you think I've played 100+ hours of the franchise and don't know how sprint fricking works
Yeah, you seem like a temperamental moron.
Says the man ignoring common sense to defend his fawowite game
but is there dynamic campaign for as2? I remember a mod but I think it's only for one of the older games
It does. Same guy modded it, I think. I played it at some point but I never paid much attention to it.
I have also played both and they're both quite janky in regards to AI its honestly hard to say which is worse because they both have similar patterns of jank. Men of War / Red Tide felt less janky but that's probably due to me being a lot younger when I played them. I remember Men of War Vietnam being awful, Faces of War being great and Soldiers Heroes of WW2 to be great too - again probably because I was young.
I never played skirmish against the AI in MOWAS/MOWAS2 but did play the "campaigns" which were a skirmish style mission. Most of my gameplay was the Dynamic Campaign Generator mod.
Gates of Hell I mostly play Conquest (surprise, surpise) but have played through the campaign with friends. Conquest really does sell GOH for me especially since I have started to mod in my own units and tailor things to how I like it.
>Men of War / Red Tide felt less janky
I can promise you, they were not. I have had my unit AI freeze up on me in MOW1, so that my friend could litterally have his men run circles around my troops.
I have never raged as much as I did when I played MOW1 and the AI went down the shitter.
>Gates of Hell I mostly play Conquest
What exsactly is conquest? They don't do a great job of decribing it on the store page.
In my ihead I image they just ad a over-world map similar to Total War.
It's a series of capture the point battles with a persistent force. In one mission you attack the point, the next you defend the point.
Over time you gain research to unlock new units - you start off with basic infantry and can unlock elite paratroopers, tanks etc.You can unlock stuff like artillery barrages and airstrikes.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/dynamic-campaign-generator-dcg/downloads/dcg-v50-for-assault-squad-2-beta-release
It's basically this with some polish.
Interesting.
I had MoWAS2 in my library but never played it. I got it in a bundle years ago, either on humble or fanatical, don't remember which. It wasn't one of the games that I was interested in at the time so I forgot about it completely till I got an itch for some WWII but didn't want to go back to Hearts of Iron.
I've been playing it and enjoying it a lot but I've wanted to see what GoH is like too. I think I'll pick up GoH since it's <$10 right now and try it out. See if I prefer it over MoW.
Well the first thing I notice is Ammo isn't generic anymore.
I can't pick up "rifle ammo" and from a dead red and use it my my Mauser. Now they have 7.62x54R and I have 8mm Mauser.
Game does have ammo autism.
>USA Shells.png
I'm going to wait till the USA DLC goes on a bigger sale to get it.
I don't really care that much about Finalnd so I'll wait for that to go cheaper too.
I'm liking it so far for only playing the first two tutorial missions. Direct Control is better, I like having 3rd person and 1st person.
I played a lot of Conquest in the previous game, Call to Arms, but realized it's mostly just artillery spam on attack, and receiving artillery spam on defense. and the AI will just mindlessly slow walk field guns to your defense points in waves. i thought to myself somewhat, after thinking really hard, after maybe 20 hours of it. "why is this any fun? i restart whenever anyone dies."
Visually I think AS2 was the best
>i restart whenever anyone dies."
I used to do this in games but then I started imagining that when I do that all my guys die so I stopped doing it and just play through the losses and have more fun.
I never played silent heroes. Is it any good? I loved Soldiers Heroes of WW2 & Faces of War.
idk I've never played it either. It's the only one you can't just get off of steam.
I would've loved to play Conquest in original Call to Arms more but the maps are way too small for it and you barely get any time to set up defenses, GoH does it much better
Can you not change it in original CoH?
I just started using the mod for GoH that increases setup time in defense missions. It also increases capture points, so the mission is long to compensate.
I didn't bother with engineers because i didn't see much point, but now that i have time to lay mines and dig in I'm going to unlock them next campaign.
nta but that doesn't help at all with how small the maps are in CtA
I tried playing a rebel campaign but I got bored right on the first mission because I could take my BTR drive for 3 seconds and just kill all the enemy infantry that were trickling into the capture point in the middle of the map.
Apparently they are going to backport a bunch of improvements from GoH but I hope bigger maps is part of that.
Is the regular (contemporary setting) Call to Arms any good?
From what I can remember it was quite arcadey compared to Men of War (I've only played 4 hours of it). I do remember everyone dying slowly even to stuff like heavy machine guns.
Honestly it felt the same as the Men of War 2 demo.
I exclusively plays AS2 until recently bought GoH on steam sale. Vanilla AI in skirmish has marginal improvement especially for the enemies, but pretty frustrating all the same. They spam grenades on close quarter, is able to use mortar, manning empty stationary (haven't seen one fix abandoned vehicle though), oh as you said pathing is broken just like the previous game, giving up halfway through which by this point I couldn't care about. At one point, I have a panther shooting over some infantries while being pounded by two katyushas truck from like 30 meters in front of it, it's fricking moronic. Performance is also shit.
i prefer coh
doesn't AS2 has mods with all the campaigns of the past games?
I watched all the on-game tutorial videos on youtube because they don't work in-game but of a red flag that and finished the introduction mission. Now I'm starting the game for real(?)
Wish me luck guys.
>It's a stealth mission
Holy christ this is horrible.
Who thought this was a good idea?
You think this is bad?
Red Tide missions think that giving you even a knife in your commando mission is a luxury.
Well I decided to skip that campaign and the other ones that are in sequential order.
Instead I started doing the faction/country missions. These are good.
>finish in heroic difficulty with no loss
>no success and isn't be shown as completed in heroic difficulty the menu
For me? Its GSM
I saw a video for beginner tips for MOWAS2 that said if you right click a unit to call in, it would show you it's details.
Another video said if you hold your mouse over the unit's button a little eye would pop up and you click that and you can see the units details.
Neither of those work. Anyone know how to see the detauls of a unit? It would be need to know what the units are do. Some are easy to figure out (sniper, flamethrower, Mortar) but others I'd like some more info on (tank A, Tank B, Tank 1, Tank 2, Tank X, Tank Y)
I bought Gates of Hell and refunded it as soon as I discovered I couldn't even do a 2v2 bot skirmish without fps dropping like a brick. My Ryzen 5 5600 is old but surely not THAT old.
>2v2
Can you do that in MoWAS2?
I kinda suck at the game but maybe having a BOT to help pull the weight in a 2v1 would let me get some practice in.
In skirmish mode. You need the airborne expansion
Is the AI good enough that I should see what my AI ally is doing and try and learn from it?
Maybe? Probably not. The only real way to improve at this game is getting familiar with your units and what they do best.
Are the units between factions similar or should I try focusing on a single faction to start?
Similar in role but different in execution. American rifle squads for example have more firepower than similar units because their rifles are semi automatic. The german SMG squad is pretty good because the leader has a stg44 (so it's important to make another unit pick it up if he dies). German tanks get a lot of front armor but shit side armor, japan gets some speedy tanks, Russias has heavier armor for comparatively similar costs, brits have shitload of armor but weaker guns, etc...
Most of them are pretty logical, obvious advantages and disadvantages.
Lmao no, the bot just attack moves the object with unlimited shit and zero tactics of any kind, just a straight line to objectives.
Tanks and vehicle need health bar, cope all you want "muh realistic" gays
You have to be at least 18 years old to post here.
Thoughts on MoW2?
It looks kinda cartoony.
Never understood that complaint. It's just not monochrome edginess like GoH.
I think it's the best playing game in the franchise. Personally I enjoyed the new main multiplayer mode where you have to build a custom unit roster and call them in throughout the match. On top of that, the new camo, defense building and retreat mechanics add a lot to the game. Airplanes were very well implemented too, finally.
It plays worse than CoH and looks like a mobile game. Frick this shit. Gates of Hell over this garbage any day.
Could you repeat that with actual arguments and no moronic, hyperbolic bullshit?
>it plays worse than CoH
If you prefer squads of soldiers just bumrushing an MG nest, vehicles having health points instead of realistic ballistics, armor penetration simulation, and damage of different parts... sure. If you want an actually semi-realistic and fun game with tons of actual mods (not only anime goyslop) and a good editor, you're better off getting MoW.
>with tons of actual mods
MoW2 isn't even out yet. How many mods could it have?
it's MoW + CoH2 + Wargame
I really like it, it's fun. play the 4v4s and get good at playing as some regiments.
I see this game has a Star Wars mod AND a WK40K mod.
Is it worth it just for those?
it also has a starship troopers mod, which was and still maybe the best way to play in that setting.
>Is it worth it just for those?
no. its a tired game, on a tired engine, that has been milked (poorly) for like 20 years.
Cool. I'll look for that one too.
It goes for like three bucks during sales you dramatic c**t. Your dick is a tired engine milked poorly for like 20 years.
Just wait for a sale and get it.
and yet your mom still tries to milk me every night.
You being so fat and ugly that his poor mother mistakes you for a cow isn't the burn that you think it is.
>t. samegay
sorry no one is buying your mod anymore, Rob.
Damn it, what gave it away? I used a VPN and everything!
>GoH
>have an idea to flank some enemy field gun out in the open with a jeep
>jeep gunner never fires at it even within range
>have to circle around to try to avoid it slowly spinning to fire at the jeep
>its other gunners open fire and kill the jeep gunner
>eventually it manages to track the jeep and oneshots it
i mean it shouldnt have to be fricking marine vs lurker micro when using a jeep to flank a field gun, but here we are
shit like that is why I only use vehicles with turrets or full rotation. I've noticed some vehicles work just fine on approach while others seem braindead if I'm not microing them.
It's the fricking terrible AI. Your guys are blind and moronic but the AI does just fine somehow. A couple patches ago your AI allies would shoot at your guys too. How do you frick up AI that bad?
>buzzwords buzzwords buzzwords
let me know when you have actual arguments you fricking homosexual
Why this game and not other like SHOWII/FOW/MOW?
Cause they are older and less refined as far as gameplay goes
Faces of war got the best campaign of the entire series
>all these homies crying about AI
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. There is no AI for any GEM game, never has. It's all just scripts, for MP those scripts just have more triggers but it's not hard to sequence break for a lack of a better term and avoid all the triggers and freezing the """"AI""""
So in other words, it is shit. Thanks for your contribution.
I fricking hate that GoH USA does not have early war, but that the valor mod does
Hopefully they will add to their tree going forwards, they did use the run up to the American dlc to add land lease to the Soviet tree.
What would the USA even have early war? M2 Medium, M2A4 Light, M1 Combat Car? None of them saw overseas service so it makes sense for the USA to start mid war since they entered the war late.
that's not Steel Division II
step aside
Why is AI so fricking braindead in GoH? It won't shoot in enemies right in front of them. It's like they have 5 s reaction time.
because whenever you dare mention that in the game's forums, a legion of deluded morons come and say WORKS ON MY COMPUTER
The GoH AI werks on my computer
I just send a single Stug in skirmish and the AI sends half a tank brigade in response, thus equalizing the battle
Also sino japanese mod when, i want to destroy china for their crimes against hoe-girlve
Micro hell games only good for singleplayer or observing scripted battles.
Men of War is so autistically detailed I can't stand it. I am not fricking interested in managing the inventory of every individual fricking soldier.
It would be nice if there was an auto-loot function. So infantry would just pick up the ammo they need for the weapon they're carrying.
the amount of micro you have to do to make your guys pick up mines from the engineer truck and lay them all around on defense is annoying
know what i would appreciate? inventory management before the battles on conquest.
Something like a
>set unit supply point
would be nice. So if you tell an engineer to place a fortification or mine, it will automatically restock at that supply point.
>inventory management before the battles on conquest
That w would be nice too.
Can you control battle speed in the conquest battles? I haven't tried conquest yet only the campaigns, which do let you speed-up/slow-down time. If i have a lot going on I'll turn speed down to make it easier to deal with multiple conflicts.
i dont remember if there was pause. there might have been but ive never used it.
i played the previous game Call to Arms a lot and in there the US Stryker vehicle had antitank rockets, its just so much pain to have to take it with the infantry every time when you call it out.
i dont know why no one has figured out how to mod inventory management into the game yet, thats easily one of the best features they will ever implement.
> the US Stryker vehicle had antitank rockets, its just so much pain to have to take it with the infantry every time when you call it out.
Learn to shoot and scoot with your tank/IFV, the AI is shit with ATGMs in CtA.
it has the rockets in its inventory. it by itself cant use them and infantry have to take them out and use them.
I must have been drunk when I posted that, I read it as him getting ATGM'd. lol.
>examine engineer truck with squad selected
>double click mines
>select mines from toolbar
>right click drag
>too much micro
????
I don't think everyone knows when you loot with a group selected they split the items
It's been a while but I thought they covered that in the tutorial?
Quite a few skip the tutorial because they played MoW or their like me and thought Trial by Fire was the tutorial because I'm moronic
What I want to know is if they share ammo. they must right? Otherwise why give the support guy (AT and MG) ammo too?
Because when you pick up as a group it will give the guy holding X the most ammo for X but after a point it will start to split X ammo between the whole squad, even if they don't need it.
>they played MoW
MoW says it in it's tutorial too.
Yes squads share ammo. They don't share stuff like grenades, tools and mines though. This does mean that people tend to think that when a single soldier is laying a minefield its a bug when in reality he's the only one with mines in his inventory.
Should I try CoH games? Which ones?
I tried to play the first game, but it felt like an arcade compare to MoH.
If you don't like the first one you won't like any of them
I am not sure, I didn't give it enough time.
Well I enjoy it and MoW/GoH it is definitely more "arcadey" , actually more just a standard RTS while MoW style is going for something out of the ordinary (and janky)
If you want there is the Blitzkrieg mod which is one of those realism mods people like but personally I hate those regardless of what game they are for, they never go well with the maps the games come with.
Fog of War on or off?
On.
Off
AI Cheats with it on or off
any cool single player mods? how's the Spanish and Russian civil war?
I haven't seen many that add more campaign missions
There are mods that port the old missions from MoW games and there's mods that add more factions that you can play in Conquest like Valor or changes the game to be US vs USSR in the 60s (Hotmod). Those two seem to be the most popular
how about that US civil war stuff?
the Spanish is incredibly janky. you can't call new units and the enemy is just too static and passive
Anyone modding the game? Managed to implement anything interesting?
>feel like some ww2 rts
>steel division looks fun
>but the maps are 10x too big
>played too much coh2 and coh3 is ass
>too low IQ for hoi4
where do i go?
>too low IQ for hoi4
Please, if you can breathe you have a high enough IQ for paraslop.
