If you haven't noticedGanker kind of fricking sucks these days, and has for awhile. It's almost entirely coomer/meta threads and when people do talk about games it's either something that their favorite YouTuber talked about recently, or trying to bash an older game that they didn't play. It's more speculation and talking about the new hot game of the week than it actually is talking about games.
Most threads that actually do talk about games go for maybe 5 to 10 posts and get deleted due to inactivity, probably like this one will. Gone are the days of talking about cool unused stuff because that stuff is either a) been discovered in a leak and is no longer interesting or b) people now are too young to even know that it existed in the first place.
At this point I just show up here to lurk and see what absolute dog shit opinion people spout until their favorite eceleb tells them they're wrong.
This plus politics
They seriously should just end "video game" boards. It's the most fricked over topic on this shithole. Ganker will never be raided by /misc/, /misc/locks can't take over Ganker, and the only other board I know is fricked over by pol is /ic/, but who gives a frick about /ic/ anyways.
you're blaming /misc/ for a problem with the industry itself. it's not /misc/ making these companies constantly engage in obnoxious political signaling and injecting their homosexual political opinions into games. the "just ignore it and it'll go away!" crowd has always been wrong, it's worse than ever.

It's fine for new games, that slip under the radar for any social media controversy, Triangle Strategy threads were good for the month after its release
When I wrote that I was just browsing through the catalogue and seeing the threads and thinking how far Ganker has gone downhill. There was a point in time where you could get legitimate good recommendations here. Most of the shit I see recommended now is stuff I've actually played that I know is at best like 5 or 6 out of ten. And don't get me wrong, I love a good bad game, but that's not how I see that stuff here being recommended at all. I don't come here for eceleb shit or YouTuber regurgitated info,
I feel like even the threads that are good either die quick, or just eventually devolve into something entirely different for the worst. Most of the threads that are talking about one game or discussing gameplay I'm either lurking in or actually partaking in. Like that Rayman 2 thread that's about to die, I wanted to talk about Rayman 2 you fricks.
Whatever. Was Triangle Strategy good? I missed out on octopath but love old JRPGs like those. I'd actually get Octopath on pc or switch or Triangle Strategy if they were good. I played Live A Live on an emulator when I was in high school and really fricking liked it.
>should just end "video game" boards >it's the most fricked-over topic on this shithole
Frick no, it's just Ganker and /vg/. All the other ones generally do a great job about talking about video games, even with /vrpg/ usually having some shitposting and /vm/ being slow as frick and filled with a buncha "a bloo bloo my game is dead" threads. Even when Ganker leaked into /vr/ with the 6th Gen shitposting, it has pretty much bounced back entirely and has long been talking about video games again. Complain about Ganker and /vg/ all you want, as they're genuinely fricked, but if you want to condemn the other boards as if they remotely have the same degree of problems, then you're just pulling some melodramatic woe is vidya bullshit because you get off on it, not because you care.
Actually, butthole, I just forget those places even exist. The idea of like 8 sub vidya boards the day they were shat out always felt like moronic coping, even if they turned out ok. All this is proving is the admins don't do their jobs, actually mass band buttholes into oblivion to keep this board in check, and would rather beat around the bush by making "real Ganker threads" of topics most old time gamers don't give a shit about, and all the polutar games get fricked over with polshit on Ganker.
If they really wanted to make a proper containment board for politic obsessed freaks of the vidya kind, they'd just make a /vpol/ and force all pol threads there, like they tried doing years ago with fricking bronies before they got very lazy about doing that kind of shit again.
Jesus christ, consider for a moment what you actually fukken typed out. You're telling me you actively ignored any of the actual video games boards--pushing them entirely out of mind--so you could continuously and EXCLUSIVELY (for video games on Ganker) come back to Ganker despite you yourself considering it to be wrought with constant outrage and politics, which you think will continue to wreak havoc due to slapdash moderation and stopgap administration. That's your retort to someone saying that you enjoy coming around just to complain about the outrage instead of caring about vidya: that you actively ignore the vidya boards and come to the one where you think all vidya discussion is dead and taken over by politics and outrage.
If we're gonna talk about containment boards for homies that don't care about vidya, it sounds like your ass ended up contained
I remember browsing Ganker back when it was a new board and it was constantly getting raided by /misc/gays, albeit back then regular users were still trying to gatekeep them. I guess it was a matter of time until it fell.

Octopath has its flaws, like the dungeons being pretty formulaeic, and the remaining 7 characters being passengers for any character's story, but the job system, music, and voice work is pretty good. Some of the bosses are pretty good too, in that you can't just abuse the same strategies like leghold trap, sidestep or reflective veil.
I never played live a live, I've heard it falls flat compared to that because the characters don't have any impact outside of their own stories but having not played Live a live I really enjoyed Octopath.
Triangle Strategy is more of an srpg than a jrpg. It's very dialogue heavy, especially for the first 4 chapters or so where its setting up the world building.
The combat is strange because it starts off pretty challenging, but as there's a hard level cap for 50 once you get to your 2nd PT they can't give certain bosses a huge level advantage like they normally do.
There are also four different endings, so you'll probably get burnt out before you get all four.
I think both games have demos so you can give them a spin first, and decide on that
> 7 characters being passengers for any character's story
I just started it, I think I met one of the first of the other 7, am I meant to replay the game 8 times to see the full story or what then?

No you can recruit all the other 7 characters, switch them in and out of your party at will, and do their story chapters in any order.
The only limits are you won't be able to switch your starting character out until you finish their chapter 4, and obviously you have to do a character's chapter 2 before you can do that same character's chapter 3. Who did you start with?

The medic because it resonates with my first work.
Playing it on the Gamepass. I haven't played a lot of JRPGs and feel ashamed to say that I never finished a FF, I retried FF8 but got confused with all the systems.
Anyway I love the art, the boost attack system is quite fun, is also one of the few times I use a defense option in a turn based games, feels that is more incentivized than I usually see by timing it with the stun and using it to gain a boost.
Some quests seems to be vague, like a guy spoke about fishes and I just met one of the main characters.

Yeah the break thing is cool as it either gives you a free turn of crits or gives you a breather to heal buff and de-buff
>speedrunning >oh my god the board is so shit now
No, it's ALWAYS been shit, it was just less shit back then.
Speedrunning has always been a joke to most people who have a life or don't have a lot of time, and the fact people will waste hundreds upon thousands of hours of their life to shave off an ass hair of a second for a video game for literally 0 (zero) fricking reward is pathetic.
It isn't that "Ganker is shit", it's that Ganker makes fun of speedrunners because it can make fun of itself for wasting so much time playing vidya. Only difference is one is to enjoy it while the other is for a troony-run competition.
Speedrunning has been a joke but it had mostly been a joke relating to the amount of dedication it took to shave milliseconds off a time, and even then some feats are still incredible. You cant genuinely think speedrunning threads are the same as they were in like 2013 and 14. I'm just tired of threads that are the same copy paste shit fricking daily, even based on your description no one even talks about that shit anymore. If you are denying that Ganker has gone to shit, you've been on it so frequently and evolved with it to the point that you can't even fricking tell. Ganker has definitely gone to shit. I would rather be a speed runner that actually gets their name cemented regardless of how arbitrary it is rather than a literal nobody who b***hes about it on here.
No additional details in the OP, clickbaity-looking thumbnail, 17 minute video. Then if you actually watch it it's just like >hey, that's kinda neat
Like it's nothing that's "actually" playable, it's just a short little fan celebration that's somewhat cool from a technical standpoint due to them finding even more they can do with ACE but this time on N64. There's just not really much to talk about.

Well it's the closet thing we're gonna get to experiencing beta and cut content in the game probably ever. What were you expecting? That this was going to be some completely polished and finished build of the game that was just discovered somehow with cut content? Adding it into the game on an original cart and playable on real hardware is pretty much as good as it's ever going to get. You could play a ROM hack but most of that shit is just stuff made by people after the fact, not repurposed cut content. You're making it seem like there is a better alternative or that Nintendo is just gonna release a playable beta build. People flipped their shit over Mario 64 3313 and most of that wasn't even beta stuff it was just made to look like it, you can't even play that on an actual 64.

It's a JRPG on DS/3DS that focuses on a story where everyone and everything is basically fricked. You get to time travel to earlier parts/different branches of the story in order to find ways to overcome impossible odds.
I only played the demo but I thought it was alright from what I played.
I'm not sure which one he's referring to, but there is one called Portal Reloaded that adds a third, green portal that allows you to shift between the past and present. It's ok. The primary gimmick is how altering the cubes and portals in the past overwrites their positions in the future, so a lot of it is about finding how to set up the past so you can use its elements in the future puzzle without having to change their positions, which would frick with your future setup. Sometimes it's timed puzzles and such where you need to be able to do things in the past and then flip back to the future to reset shit so it works with what the past affects, but later on you get a lot of pic related, where the time portal actually just gives you a chance to place what's basically a third normal portal on a future-exclusive panel
Its a little gay but if you were watching it and live and are an autistic zelda fanboy i could see the awe in it. You gotta remember everyone was expectong Ninty to roll out the red carpet for Zeldas anniversary and they did jackshit, so this was a nice little moment for everyone to share
I watched the video and I can't really tell where the rng comes in. I'm not sure what makes other runs different than the one showcased. I like the beta and urban legend shit, but can't imagine how runs would be different. Would rather them have released something you could plug into your controller pak to just play it single player.

Not the one you replied to but its been years since i saw a homosexual of your caliber on Ganker. Also you didnt win, if anyting youre the biggest loser on here right now, cheers.
Didn't look at the thumbnail either apparently
was cool until the “show me the future” part
Yeah, at least it was just a credit scene.
I do not believe you.
This happening on an N64 is insane. It looks so good
Now I want a game that lets me go back and forth in time in the same spots to resolve problems but at my own leisure.
Does Radiant Historia count?
>Radiant Historia
I don't know, I never played it.
It's a JRPG on DS/3DS that focuses on a story where everyone and everything is basically fricked. You get to time travel to earlier parts/different branches of the story in order to find ways to overcome impossible odds.
I only played the demo but I thought it was alright from what I played.
well looks like it was a good game from the reviews.
Is that one with no portal gun? I am sure I heard of it, but I never played it.
There's a Portal mod that does this
>option to ask Sheik is she is a boy or a girl
how the frick did they get away with this at gdq
Knowing GDQ you'd be allowed (and encouraged) to selected both options.
Seeing those scaled down BotW models being animated as well was impressive, must have been fun to see yesterday.
it's another one of those shit things where zoomers pretend they found some secret build of zelda or mario
zzzzzzzzzzz
Pretty nice but I'm not a fan of the ending, especially the twitch shit
Its a little gay but if you were watching it and live and are an autistic zelda fanboy i could see the awe in it. You gotta remember everyone was expectong Ninty to roll out the red carpet for Zeldas anniversary and they did jackshit, so this was a nice little moment for everyone to share
Does Nintendo know about this? I hope they sue these buttholes into oblivion
For glitches?
^
^^
This is fricking disgraceful. Nintendo needs to sue these low lives and have the con shutdown for good.
This is the stupid fricking thing ive ever seen. Nintensoys need to grow up already
So this is what peter gibbons has been up to lately.
>couldn't help themselves but put moronic twitch chat shit and stupid memes into it
Was almost cool.
I watched the video and I can't really tell where the rng comes in. I'm not sure what makes other runs different than the one showcased. I like the beta and urban legend shit, but can't imagine how runs would be different. Would rather them have released something you could plug into your controller pak to just play it single player.
It says in the description it's a romhack. Pointless video with an uncharismatic presenter.
>botw homosexuals ruin everything
No thanks. You homosexuals are furry/brony tier
