>xbox RROD >PS3 cell processor and NOGAEMS >wii waggle shit and the nintendo console no longer could get multiplats >generation ran long >brown and bloom shooters >ton of PS360 multiplats also released on PC but the PC port was lazy as frick (press start on the opening screen). >beginning of the end of uniqueness. Next generation would basically make consoles discount PCs >the dev load started to become so high smaller studios struggled. The 2008 crisis basically killed them. >xbox arcade and steam let indies bloom, while big studios had to grow in size to be able to make AAA games
That's because the Arcade version was made in late 2008 / early 2009 and by then Microsoft was using the Falcon V2 / Jasper motherboard revision that fixed the GPU issues with the bad underfill material used by TSMC that caused the chips to prematurely fail /crack solder joints from heating and cooling cycles.
I remember hating it because the OGbox its menu was so much cooler. The nuclear reactor thing, the space radio in the background. And then we got this blade shit.
this was the nail in the coffin for gaming. We have consoles to blame for normie-fied vidya nowadays. If consoles would have died and gaming would have remained a niche pc only medium it would be so much better
That was just 6th gen+.
Gaming didn't change until late into Gen 8 when everything got taken over by streamer/esports cancer
>Gaming didn't change until late into Gen 8
Maybe from the perspective of a zoomer, who grew up with gen 7.

The arcade version was more stable i think, mine still works

Xbox 360, home...
Hard to believe that this looked modern and sleek at some point.
I remember hating it because the OGbox its menu was so much cooler. The nuclear reactor thing, the space radio in the background. And then we got this blade shit.
>the blades menu have a concave look like the console
Nice.
I lost all interest and went PC once they introduced the NXE.
Paying for multiplayer was the gayest shit ever, and part of the reason I moved to PC.
>filters poorgays, cheaters and third worlders
that's why I remember people were so interesting and easy to socialize with
>filters poorgays, cheaters and third worlders

for all its flaws, gaming has been irredeemable shit ever since this gen ended
Gaming has been irredeemable shit because of that gen, which was also shit.

Yeah, it turned 360 degrees, ended up exactly where it already was, and nothing of note was different.

Xbox 360 still had some soul in it
Early 7th gen was kino. Late 7th gen was when the suckage switch started getting turned on.

Whenever twitch or justin.tv became popular.
Online gaming and DLC was inevitable. Lootboxes, as much as it disgusts me, was too.
