>le buyer's remorse
People return the things they don't like. You wouldn't know that because you only get things when mommy and daddy buy them for you.
You're really not doing yourself justice if your first time playing Alyx is flat. It's a part of the charm and immersion. It genuinely is worth it, plus all the other stuff you can do with a headset and controllers. Especially with VorPX to increase your backlog even more.
Unsurprised, but disappointed.
VR is one of those things 90% of people just can't understand without using.
Also, it's sad that even this much later we haven't gotten anything that even approaches Alyx's presentation and general polish, especially since I don't really like halflife all that much.

Maybe not presentation. But Vertigo 2 certainly exceeds the polish of Alyx. It's a better video game than HL Alyx in other words. On the other hand, In terms of presentation that meets close to Alyx then Red Matter 2 isn't far off.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
tbh i wont enjoy VR as long as the resolution doesnt look as crisp as on monitor and the vr googles weight nothing. Right now strapping shit on my face that makes me sweat and the blurry visuals are a deal breaker.
Black person I bought the other ''pro'' straps and if i want proper res I need to strap it so tight I dont feel my scalp anymore. Also there's only like 3 settings for eye distance and mine were not in the plans it seems
also >need a fan to enjoy vr
hard pass Ill just stay comfy on my chair
Being immersive has nothing to do if you're sitting or standing. Thats like saying you're not immersed in the physical word right now because you're not standing up

thats the dumbest shit ive read all day. thanks

Its not. You can be immersed if you are in a wheelchair or not. Deal with it.

Nah sitting is not immersive. Even the thumbstick is a barrier against immersion. I'm full walking on a VR treadmill now because nothing else suffices of feeling like I'm there.

By that logic people in real life with disabilities and in wheel chairs are not immersed in reality. You dont know what you are talking about.

Yeah well unfortunately for them, they can't do what i can do. So it's certainly subjective between what a fully able bodied person can do and what a disabled person can do. If i can't move then i don't feel like I'm apart of it due to how my brain functions.

are you in a wheelchair anon? you sound awfully defensive
I'm assuming most of you have played Half-Life 2, ep 1 and ep 2 in VR by now. Keep this mod page bookmarked. You can try out Black Mesa VR if you want, but I wouldn't recommend a playthrough as of right now at least and you should wait for the next update and once it reaches Beta 3.0 (It's beta 2.0 right now) i just found it to be a little too buggy atm where i can progress any further into one of the game's later chapters. But's very close to being fully playable.
Hope they don't try to shoehorn the VR stuff on top of Gordon's F1 racing running speed and gorillion pound inventory.
It's fun, but not fitting. Good for a squishy sidekick like Alyx.
It's something you have to adjust to. For me it didn't take long, but my first time around of trying it was overwhelming. All headaches and dizziness eventually stopped. Some times it's also game dependent and you have to fiddle with the settings to get it to your liking.
I like that Valve is continuing to push the technical envelope with Half-Life games, I just worry that Half-Life 3 or whatever they're going to call the next game will seem underwhelming in comparison if it's not VR exclusive.
I know two people with VR headsets that like HL2 but they never even touched this game. It's perplexing to me. I get that some people get VR, play a few meme games, and then it collects dust, but they got their headsets shortly after Alyx released. I don't have VR but if I did I'd probably play this.
>and then it collects dust
Mine isn't a dust collector. Depends on if you like indie games or not. There's good stuff to play but none it is super high budget like Alyx was.
the combat did nothing to really sell me on /vr/ obviously compromised. most of the puzzles were mind numbing phone minigames. however what did spark my interest was the dynamic item interaction in the jeff section, I honestly would have preferred an entire game expanded on scenarios like that, only with actual AI's instead of something so exploitable.
It's pretty disappointing. Moreso that people don't even think of VR as part of "core" gaming these days when there's no reason it couldn't be that and more.
>hate going back to flat
then play games with adult women
feel bad for the hl bros that ruined it for themselves and experienced it pancake.
you mean the "alyx no-vr required" mod?
yep, one of the no vr mods i remember reading about way back. what's even the point?
the no vr mod looks pretty dope. cant wait to try it
there is literally no reason to try it. What looks phenomenal in VR looks simply like piss in flat
VR buyers remorse much, bro ?
>le buyer's remorse
People return the things they don't like. You wouldn't know that because you only get things when mommy and daddy buy them for you.
why would I have buyers remorse? Alyx in VR is the most immersive video game ever created. In flat it looks like ass
You're really not doing yourself justice if your first time playing Alyx is flat. It's a part of the charm and immersion. It genuinely is worth it, plus all the other stuff you can do with a headset and controllers.

Non VR mode is third worlder cope. Just buy a fricking headset already. I'm sure you can pick one up for cheap if you really go looking.
Unsurprised, but disappointed.

It has good melee, but I hope you aren't serious.

VR will probably forever be a gimmick. If a new Half Life game from Valve can't kickstart it, then nothing can.
VR and AR are just getting started. Wait for Q3
I'm a VRgay and I still haven't cared enough to finish Alyx. I'd rather play TF2 in Contractors and chop off heads in Blade and Sorcery.
Good. They shouldn’t.

I sincerely doubt you have friends Artifactschizo
It was really fun. I should replay it.

I got a Quest 2 and it sucks.
sounds like you dont have it on right and you dont have a fan on next to you. This is a You problem.

do you wear glasses? Is your head abnormally wide? Don't have a stabilizing battery on the back, even if not plugged in? This is a You problem.
P.S.
I sit in my chair and play seated vr WITH a fan going.
>seated vr
isnt it supposed to be immersive? might as well play on monitor

So you're fat, got it
Alyx is OK. Mostly a rummaging simulator. HL2 VR Mod is better.
