I'm guessing this comic was made early in the generation where PS3 had no games, 360s were RRoDing to Dead Rising, and Wii had some alright titles in the first year (Zelda, Prime 3, Galaxy).

I honest to God loved the Wii. Fuck movie games and FPS', all-nighter 4 player drunk Super Mario Bros. Wii, overly competitive Wii Sports sessions, absolute fucking madness on Modded Brawl and putting our boys from Gen 4 on the big screen via Battle Revolution was some top tier shit. As someone who never really gravitated towards much of the big triple A games that came out around this time, the Wii was great for smaller comfy shit, especially if you have Steam. By no means was it the best console on the market at the time, but with the right games and company, the Wii for me holds far more memories and good times than the PS3 or 360 ever did. Waggle and Wi-Fi were fuckin' stupid though.

Remember how the Wii basically got normies into gaming? Basically everyone I knew played Wii Sports. It was bizarre.

it was radically different from what you'd expect a game to be and also avoided the stigma of being a passive activity with the motion controls. It makes sense even if it would seem unlikely that a game like that would be so stupidly successful
