Why are you obsessed with trannies? I like cute girls. I don’t play games to “relate” to the characters so I have no interest in bland self inserts. Male Shez isn’t as egregious as Byleth though since Shez has a personality.
Shez is a great balance between an avatar character and a preset MC - you have options to choose from but it's clear Shez isn't and can't be good at everything and has a fun personality base to work off of.
Most support conversations are so much better in three hopes due to this as there's no need to treat Shez like a blank slate like Byleth was.
It's just a shame they didn't go all the way with it in the main storyinstead of being scared of upsetting Byleth fans by making him a proper antagonist (who gets beat).

It makes me wonder if he would actually side with the Kingdom in the ensuing conflict after GW. Like he saw the Church as a threat and he saw the Empire as a threat, but he doesn't see the Kingdom as a threat, he sees them as important for the balance of power in Fodlan. Unfortunately his gambit with Rhea obviously isn't going to stop Edelgard's conquest like he hoped, and if the Empire takes out the Kingdom then that puts the Alliance in a really bad spot, so it's in his best interest to support the Kingdom in the case that the war keeps going.

the weird thing is that he only come with the "let the Kingdom alone" part of his plan AFTER he almost capture Fhirdiad. Until chapter 15 or so, he was perfectly fine with Faerghus being handed over to the Federation and the Empire. He notes that in such scenario, he would get the short end of the stick compared to the Empire, but he still presses on, and only fails to capture Fhirdiad because he has to urgently go back to Oredelia to deal with bandits.

The latter requires you to have resources, connections, many servants and informants and so on, all factors which a kid the age of 12 wouldn't have, especially one that run away from her country to come to the enemy nation.

This is only true in early game. Endgame and maddening is all about spamming combat arts or magic and there are two relics with combat art/magic recharge; thunderbrand and the relic tome from GW (not sure if there are equivalents in other routes)

I feel like it's one of those things that doesn't really translate well outside of Asian medieval romances, e.g. Romance of the Three Kingdoms(naturally) where basically anybody vaguely in charge of anything was called a general and they kept being promoted into more prestigious generals with increasingly wacky titles like Flying Dragon Feather Noscope General or whatever, with the occasional captain, and for most people in the English speaking world you hear "general" and you're thinking of some older dude in the Pentagon while lower ranked commissioned officers and enlisted men are actually out in the field doing stuff.
Robin does the same thing in Awakening, where Chrom is addressed as Captain, but also likened to the general of the force as a whole, and refers to himself as the general's tactician. Or its use in older FEs in a similar context.
In the case of Bernie, it's more just a point of convenience to the Imperial structure(e.g. forces directly under the emperor's control vs everything else under von Bergliez's command) since nobody outside of Edelgard and her immediate lieutenants could really be ordering around the Varley heir.

In 3Houses you had seemingly throwaway scenes where Byleth tells Claude to not use poison in the mock battle, and several ‘no schemes’ dialogue options. Turns out Byleth was constantly setting Claude on the straight and narrow with proper training and battle tactics; without Byleth the schemes end up taking over Claude.
3Houses writers didn’t want to turn ‘no schemes, Claude’ into a running joke so they left it at a few scenes. VW Claude was arguably boring with no character arc, this is given new meaning with 3Hopes: Byleth’s mentorship actually turned him into an upstanding leader with no strings attached

There's a reason why Falmes/Seiros only adds 10 extra damage to her combat arts if they both proc, but Dimitri's doubles the effective might and durability cost. Grim crest is pure strength.

then sometimes she needs byleth's help to open a pickle jar and gets tackled by shez, but at least the two of them are harboring ancient godlike beings inside them and have protagonist plot armor. Claude isn't that dumb, he has two main obstacles, the church and the empire, as of the end of GW the church is dealt with and he has room to fight against the empire if it ever comes to it since the kingdom is still there and mostly unscathed. Dimitri would side with the Federation if it meant not having the empire take over the kingdom and the Federation and Kingdom combined can match the empire.
Know what really bothers me about this game? Higher difficulties just raises enemy level and equipment tiers.
They could have easily made enemies more difficult just by giving them their personal abilities. Imagine fighting Sylvain but he's got his lance buff up, or dealing with Lorenz being unable to take damage?

I honestly thought Holst has a major Crest of Goneril. Three Houses implies Holst was a Chad and legendary hero of the Alliance, so you think he got that reputation due to being able to wield Freikugel and his Crest. Then Hopes comes out and states Holst doesn't have a Crest.

This one seems like a retcon to push Claude's belief of the Church enforcing crest worship. If Holst didn't have a crest then Freikugel should be Hilda's birthright same as Luin is for Ingrid otherwise it would just be sitting in his house gathering cobwebs.

Most support conversations are so much better in three hopes due to this as there's no need to treat Shez like a blank slate like Byleth was.

It makes me wonder if he would actually side with the Kingdom in the ensuing conflict after GW. Like he saw the Church as a threat and he saw the Empire as a threat, but he doesn't see the Kingdom as a threat, he sees them as important for the balance of power in Fodlan. Unfortunately his gambit with Rhea obviously isn't going to stop Edelgard's conquest like he hoped, and if the Empire takes out the Kingdom then that puts the Alliance in a really bad spot, so it's in his best interest to support the Kingdom in the case that the war keeps going.

He notes that in such scenario, he would get the short end of the stick compared to the Empire, but he still presses on, and only fails to capture Fhirdiad because he has to urgently go back to Oredelia to deal with bandits.
His objectives in the wars constantly change, but they hardly ever make sense on the bigger picture

I feel like it's one of those things that doesn't really translate well outside of Asian medieval romances, e.g. Romance of the Three Kingdoms(naturally) where basically anybody vaguely in charge of anything was called a general and they kept being promoted into more prestigious generals with increasingly wacky titles like Flying Dragon Feather Noscope General or whatever, with the occasional captain, and for most people in the English speaking world you hear "general" and you're thinking of some older dude in the Pentagon while lower ranked commissioned officers and enlisted men are actually out in the field doing stuff.
Robin does the same thing in Awakening, where Chrom is addressed as Captain, but also likened to the general of the force as a whole, and refers to himself as the general's tactician. Or its use in older FEs in a similar context.
In the case of Bernie, it's more just a point of convenience to the Imperial structure(e.g. forces directly under the emperor's control vs everything else under von Bergliez's command) since nobody outside of Edelgard and her immediate lieutenants could really be ordering around the Varley heir.

Turns out Byleth was constantly setting Claude on the straight and narrow with proper training and battle tactics; without Byleth the schemes end up taking over Claude.
3Houses writers didn’t want to turn ‘no schemes, Claude’ into a running joke so they left it at a few scenes. VW Claude was arguably boring with no character arc, this is given new meaning with 3Hopes: Byleth’s mentorship actually turned him into an upstanding leader with no strings attached

There's a reason why Falmes/Seiros only adds 10 extra damage to her combat arts if they both proc, but Dimitri's doubles the effective might and durability cost. Grim crest is pure strength.

Claude isn't that dumb, he has two main obstacles, the church and the empire, as of the end of GW the church is dealt with and he has room to fight against the empire if it ever comes to it since the kingdom is still there and mostly unscathed. Dimitri would side with the Federation if it meant not having the empire take over the kingdom and the Federation and Kingdom combined can match the empire.
The kingdom is suffering and the central church still exists and could recover with Seteth as archbishop.
Know what really bothers me about this game? Higher difficulties just raises enemy level and equipment tiers.
They could have easily made enemies more difficult just by giving them their personal abilities. Imagine fighting Sylvain but he's got his lance buff up, or dealing with Lorenz being unable to take damage?

I could have sworn Houses heavily implies Felix's mom died. Felix never mentions her, neither does Rodrigue. It's good, every character has their own unique class and the exp curve makes it easy to use them even if you haven't been training them.
