I grew up buying pirated physical media for a buck or two
Rather give people I know a few bucks for pirated shit than 60 bucks for an abusive israeli industry. Same way I feel about spending money on fricking uber I rather give that money to my friends if they're willing to drive me in need.
We had a Vietnamese store near us. You could buy VCD's or bring in a harddrive and transfer files for x amount.
Place was a wonderland back in the 16 bit to early PS2 days. Rows upon rows of games and demo stations that took up a fourth of the store's floor space.
Went there last year and they have all the games in this tiny little space with little care for presentation at all.
should have adapted to the Amazon model
They have tried
They stopped selling Amazon cards in them too because they have a shitty online order service that's worse than Amazon so no one uses it
soon stores won't even have items on the shelves
you'll just place the order and pick it up. yes boomers and nigs will get fricked
Reminds me of the good ol' days of the late 1800s
There are already stores like that in large cities because joggers won't stop stealing shit.
were kids really obsessed with eating those pods or was that a media hoax
Anon, it's not just that isle.
That's basically every isle in some Targets now. It's insane.
Thank God I don't live in a shithole.
There's a reason retailers and grocery stores have been quietly abandoning large cities, or at least certain neighborhoods in those cities. The media though only reports on the resulting "food deserts" that emerge in the wake of these pull outs without ever discussing the reason for them.
As someone who has worked at a walmart for over 20 years, there's a certian ethnic component. I just can't put my finger on it.
What about Dollar General? I can't believe they sell anime on blu-ray there!
Well, yeah. If they talked about the reason, they'd have to admit they were being judged on the content of their character all along.
aisle, an isle is short for island.
Thanks.
Only in brown shithole cities. If you see that sort of jogger-proofing start to crop up at stores near you it's way past time to relocate.
As a manager wages for Target, I can't say how insane asset protection has become. I strongly hate it because the company doesn't allocate additional hours for store coverage, and the asset protection team has become extremely anal about it.
Profits must be protected at all costs.
reading comprehension, moron-kun. Anon was asking if the tide pod challenge was real
did you just not read their post?
It's a tiktok fad of course it was real.
I'm going to give the youngsters the benefit of the doubt and assume they pretended to be into it to troll old people.
Have a racial knowledge tip on the house:
All clothes detergent is basically the same shit. Most people just get the cheap shit. Black people LOVE tide and they buy a shit ton of it and specifically it which is why it's always at an inflated price over the others. Despite this high price they still buy it (or in this case steal it). They love the smell/way it treats clothes for some reason. It's like how they scientifically designed grape soda to appeal to them too.
They steal Tide to resell it
Everytime I stop some brownoid from stealing massive amounts of shit it's always Tide, canned meats, liquor, diapers+baby supplies/hygenics, every fricking time. They steal the shit and then resell it on Amazon or Craigslist
And what demographic do you think buys stolen Tide because it's cheaper? It's the same one that thinks it smells good enough to eat.
Its a cycle. The hispanics do under the table work for cash in hand, buy stolen household basic necessities from blacks for half price, the blacks take the money and buy drugs.
This entire underground black market is built entirely on there not being any cash in the register when the blacks rob the store.
You mean to say that the spic-nig cycle is real?
not only is it real it's legal as long as it's done in batches under 1k
Ayup.
https://sfstandard.com/2022/02/10/how-san-francisco-black-market-thrives-off-retail-theft/
>They steal the shit and then resell it on Amazon
are you seriously mentally moronic anon? i think you are the Black person
dumb frick you really think any kind of Black person knows how to make a god damn amazon seller account to sell shit that already has established retailers?
I'm pretty sure those kids knew damn well it would kill them, a way to commit suicide without your family seeing it as that
It was a meme that idiots fell for, however tide is still doing damage control about it. commercials where toddlers attempt to eat tide pods only for the parent to put the pod into a child safe container, thus showing that it's on the parents to keep kids from eating laundry detergent, kills me everytime i see it.
>hoax
Bruh, the media was like a whole month late on covering it, it'd make for a shit hoax if you stage something and wait a few weeks to a month or two to cover it.
Also, TikTok trends are all real; if there IS any hoax or shenanigans going on, it'd be someone faking the initial challenge as if it was real so that people would copy them and get sick or die.
The Black Friday sales are sometimes still pretty good. I got a L33T PRO GAMUR X controller from there, it was supposed to be $100 or something but I got it for $30. Had a lot of really cool functions for headsets plugged into it. The only issue I had with it was it developed severe stick drift after a year.
Nah, I still poke my head into the local Gamestop twice a year and sometimes go into the one near where my parents live when I visit them. Both stores have two of the four walls covered in merch, shirts, and other miscellaneous non-vidya shit, and both stores have three stands on the floor; only one has games.
Sucks because this started back when I lived with my parents in an area that had two Gamestops that were within rock-throwing distance of each other and a third game shop that was stuffed to the brim with games across all eras and accessories and Retroid-whatevers covering all the walls with great prices; people ignored it to go to the GS and the game store itself closed after a couple years while the GS stores slowly filled with Funko Pops.
mostly fake as frick that may have happened like once or twice, but people love to believe it was widespread because it's like a self-esteem booster. "god i'm glad my generation isn't as moronic as these kids"
The glass only stops the laziest of opportunistic shoplifters. In a stage 2 chimpout it won't save you, they'll just smash it open.
this
are they gonna make the glass bulletproof? they'll just knock over the stand
they do that already anyway
moronic logic. it would stop the majority of petty thefts
>In a stage 2 chimpout
What would stage 3 look like?
We already saw that after the heinous murder of Saint Floyd back in 2020.
Reminds me that the pig that murdered him got stabbed 22 times last month, lol
Reminds me that your murals got struck down by divine lightning.
reminds of me that pigger that got knife raped in a cell
>murdered
how dare he fill the good floyds system full of fentanyl and meth
The jury didn't wanna get harassed.
Amazon or Walmart .
Sauce?
By a "former" FBI informant no less.
Some /misc/gay can post the chart; Rodney King was a level 3 ape out.
2014 Furgeson.
entire store in mostly peaceful flames
gotham
I don't think their goal is to stop stage 2 ape outs. at that point the store is likely to get torched anyway. the cages are to stop the type of shoplifters israeli/black DAs refuse to go after who just take shit and walk out
imagine how uneconomical that must be
wagies can't be bothered to get off their ass for everyone that needs something
At that point why not just have every single customer accompanied by an employee with a key? And if they have a chaperon you don't need the glass.
SAH moms have been b***hing a fit about it because their quick 10 minute Target trip has turned into a 2 hour exercise of waiting around for 10-15 minutes at each item waiting for a cs rep to come unlock the shelves.
the stores doing this won't last long.
The end game goal is likely for people to not even go into the store, or only be running into the store to grab the odd thing that they need, and instead to just place an order online and then pick it up.
See
were already in the era of online pickup.
how tf does that function
You press a button and call a wagie to the aisle who unlocks the case for you to get what you want. I've seen cases like this in stores in my area for securing particularly high value and easily shop liftable items (like nicoret gum for example, costs a ton and easily slipped into a pocket) but never an entire aisle like that.
It doesn't because all it leads to is customers waiting around until a rep comes over, unlocks it, and then hands them the item. The whole idea is that the customer is just going to get annoyed that if they need to do a big shop that they'll just do an online order and do pick up or delivery.
The bottom line is that stores don't want people in them in general anymore which is why every restaurant under the sun offers online ordering in some form so you can walk in, pick it up, and then get the hell out.
Just turn it into a warehouse where you order shit up front on a kiosk or online and then just pick it up at this point.
That's the future.
It’s kinda the past too, service merchandise was like that except a showroom instead of kiosks.
That's literally what the plan is but they can't just do that overnight.
lmao i knew it, you guys probably haven't even gone into a gamestop in the last 10 years.
The expensive laundry detergents have the right Price to weight value and unless a measure like this is put into place, is easily stolen without causing any security tags to go off at the front door.
Have your girlfriend or a buddy come in a couple days later to return it without a receipt and get some other expensive item you trade for drugs.
>returning items without a receipt
motherfricker its 2023 and you're talking about one of the biggest box stores in the nation.
they haven't taken no-reciept-refunds/exchanges for over 20 years.
You would be surprised how many people still do the whole steal and turn around thing. I'd hear stories from the customer service desk where a lady would daily come into the store, get two slices of deli meat, then come back the next day with one slice claiming it's rancid and they want a full refund or exchange.
https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/finance/stores-with-the-best-return-policies
>a lady would daily come into the store, get two slices of deli meat, then come back the next day with one slice claiming it's rancid and they want a full refund or exchange.
She's just pirating some deli meat whats wrong with that?
You wouldn't download a salami.
I returned unwanted Christmas gifts to a Target with no receipt just his morning, dude.
moron. they will scan your ID so the amount of stuff you can return this way is limited to like $500 a year, but they absolutely will do it. i did this for gray-market exchanges (buying brand new product from my company's store for 30% of the retail price) and then returned them to retailers for full store credit as they were just released and had never been on sale. between walmart, target, best buy, etc. you just spread out your returns and can rack up thousands per year in store credits.
i have managed to convince both a target and a best buy to take a return for a SKU that was in their system but they had never ordered.
>they will scan your ID so the amount of stuff you can return this way is limited to like $500 a year,
Do you mean your actual driver's license, or just your debit/credit card? I've never come across such a thing, and I've returned two items to stores last year.
What the frick
lol animals are getting cages built around the world instead of around them
I was in a Walgreens in NYC. I was at the register talking to the cute cashier about theft in the store when four Blacks walked in, pulled large black garbage bags from their jacket, and started scooping stuff from the shelves into the bags. They weren't even nervous or going quickly about it, and they calmly walked out the door with the big full bags of stuff. And here I am standing at the register about to pay for my stuff. Dafuq are we doing in this country?
the shit i've seen basketball americans get away with in this city is fricking insane. shoplifting doesn't even raise my eyebrows anymore. if i were you i'd just be glad that the shoplifting happened smoothly and i wasn't near a chimpout.
My first shoplifiting experience in the city was 3 white guys. One guy was holding up the line with fake bills while the other two shoved a bunch of candy down their pants.
that's just annoying.
bestbuy is good if you don't have a costco around.
It's just going to justify every store switching purely to online ordering and pick up turning them all into warehouses. If people need something ASAP then there will just be a kiosk near the entrance where people can type in the things they need and have it brought to them.
we need to legalize rooftop koreans
NYC has a black, BLM DA who literally doesn't prosecute blacks for crimes. There is a NYpost article about how the number of cases dismissed has fricking skyrocketed since he took over
>NYC has a black, BLM DA who literally doesn't prosecute blacks for crimes.
You mean Soros DA
did you atleast kneel for them?
No, because I'm not a millennial
Whoever wrote this had a visible vein popping out of his forehead
lol and zoomers don't kneel for Black folk
they are Black folk
Get dabbed on old gay (derogatory)
israeli generational divide and conquer.
Get dabbed on tribalist
Not derogatory, I notice.
It's implied. Some might take pride in being called an old gay (as opposed to an oldgay) so I made the distinction. Tribalists are obviously all moronic and therefore need no descriptors.
Jews are the biggest tribalists. Stop being such an antisemite.
Best Buy has already been doing that in a way. Their physical locations exist as warehouses, really. You order online and a driver delivers it to the store of your choice or to a store where another driver delivers it to you.
I'm almost positive the physical stores exist because they haven't discovered an economical way to sell appliances and televisions other than a physical location.
>Best Buy stops selling movies
>Best buy stops selling vidya
So what's the point of the store? For phone cables and appliances? Fricking why, what reason do I even have to go to Best buy more than once a year now, when I used to go every few weeks for a moive or vidya?
>For phone cables and appliances?
This, and Geek Squad fixes shit for dumb boomers.
the only reason people walk into best buy is to:
>buy a tv
>buy a audio setup
>get tech support
who the frick buys a tv from best buy?
People who don't want to be shipped a broken TV through carrier.
I had 5 TVs shipped and they all fine
If they send me a broken tv i'll send them back for free and get my money back or they send another to me. Their loss, not mine.
This is the way to do. Anything bigger than 55" should be made for shipping to insure you don't get blamed on it cracking while transporting. So many people don't even know we offer free shipping on TVs and always arrive in a fricking regular sized car saying "On you fit it in the back seats?". Fricking morons I swear.
I had gotten 500 dollars in gift cards to best buy as part of my holiday bonus from my job so I actually just got a new TV that I ordered online from Best Buy recently. Because it was 65" Best Buy arranged a scheduled delivery where their courier even carried it all the way into the room I was setting it up in my home. It was actually a really service I was surprised.
I did because I wasn't risking Amazon dropping it.
People without a Costco membership
It's not really a surprise. I'd go to the local one about once a year and for like the last 10-15 years the entire movie section has gotten smaller and smaller. Clearly appliances, sound systems, and phones have all slowly taken that space. The TV section has maintained around the same amount of space
Raven tiddy
Okay apparently you don't go out much nor did you read the OP post.
They didn't stop selling movies and vidya. They are removing EVERYTHING from displays and keeping everything in the back and placing cards where products would be.
There have been rampant thefts by a certain demographic for years now and all stores are either doing this or putting everything behind a lock.
You know who it is, and I know who it is.
You fricking idiot /misc/tard anon, Best buy have outright said they're getting rid of movies and anybody that's been to a Best Buy regularly has certainly noticed the movies section getting smaller and smaller every time
They have alpha boxes on all of the vidya anyway
You fricking moron. Its by area. My bestbuy still has like the entire front section of nothing but movies and vidya. Whenever a chain store makes an annoucement, its because of the worst locations, aka ones in cities. Because they have to justify themselves to the crybabies that live there.
Ah yeah, because your town of Bumfrick nowhere with a population of 300 is so fricking based and redpilled with its 1990's internet and one gas station for grocery shopping
any place without Black folk is basically heaven cause it's inhabited by people made in god's image
Most corporations whining about theft are on record as wage thieves so I can't say I'm shedding tears over seeing them go.
>They are removing EVERYTHING from displays and keeping everything in the back and placing cards where products would be.
The good old Toys R Us days.
Hopefully they still toss cheap ones in a giant bargin bin that you can shuffle through to find hidden gems.
That's how I got my copy of God Hand.
>dad gives you $10 and says find something you want
>go straight to the bargain bin and start rummaging
The good old days...
They announced back in october 2023 that they'll be phasing out physical media sales and by the end of 2024 they will no longer carry or sell any physical media in store.
This is not a situation where
>oh it's just in the back bring the tag to the front and we'll get it for you
or
>they're only doing it in black areas because you know how those blacks like to steal!
They're doing it because physical media sales are down ~70% YoY23 which was already down ~50% YoY 22 and another 40% YoY21.
Everyone buys digitial or buys from digitial storefronts like amazon.
Lmao thats ironic, their newsletters and websites are nothing but diversity and inclusion. Heck, even their youtube channel.
>rampant thefts by a certain demographic
lol you think the thefts are real, that shit is made up to get morons like you to support them. They're doing this because they're not making sales so they pretend that shrink is OUT OF CONTROL so they can start cutting costs without as much pushback
>So what's the point of the store?
going there once a decade to buy appliances. the last time i was in one was 2019 to buy a new dryer and it was an absolute graveyard. the home theater department was gone, the music/movies section was just overflowing with boxes but of course the cash card section for google play, apple, psn, xbl, etc. etc. was picked over.
amazon pretends to have IRL stores
they're also pretending
Appliances.

They're a funny store for shit like that. I wish we had a Fry's around here, though.
>I wish we had a Fry's around here, though.
Anon...
Fry's went bankrupt 5 years ago after I kept returning broken computer parts that I broke for new ones
Laptops
Monitors
TV
Mice and keyboard
Appliances
Vaccums
Geek squad (for the normies)
Everything that you'd want to see in person, but you wouldn't understand
they are second largest store for appliances in america right behind amazon
yes, they have no real competition when it comes to appliances and electronics
>sears is dead
>circuit city is dead
>radioshack is dead
>fry's is dead
>wal-shart and target have poor selection/availability
unless you want to gamble with buying expensive and delicate electronics/appliances from amazon, best buy is the only real choice
>he only shops at the big 'murica importers
oof
I work at best buy and let me tell you, they are hard focusing on two things now: Credit Cards and those best buy plus/total memberships. They don't care much about revenue from sales, as the store is judge mostly by those two things previously mentioned. They laid off a ton of people after the wuhan crap and official got rid of departments. Now everyone does everything, but some stores have people that focus on specific areas. Now we are dealing with instacart/roadie/doordash crap and those range from hispanics that can't speak English to pot smoking losers doing delivery orders and possibly stealing the deliveries. On top of this, coporate decided on offshoring 95% of call center operations to india/philippines so now you have people on the phone telling customers lies like "Oh yes I have the product in my hand just for you, just go to the store!" and then us saying that they didn't call the store, but off shore and dealing with that moronation. Total shit show and I am trying to leave for actual professional work, as I am one of the handful of non-manager people that have been in my store for longer than a year now.
>best buy plus/total memberships
Who the frick kind of dumbass would sign up for those
Depends if you shop there often. I know I did in the early 2000s.
Exactly. For $180 a year you get 60 day return periods and free geek squad coverage on anything that offers said coverage, so morons that break shit constantly can take advantage of that if they blow out their headphones or vacuums like three times a year. The plus is $50 a year and just offers the 60 day return period, which is pretty decent I guess, but I'm the type that knows what I want to keep pretty quickly. So basically, it is for morons that break everything or are always late on returning crap and need insurance just to function like a normal person.
Also, best buy is using third party a TON on appliance and home theater installations. Which pretty much means you have a 50% chance of third party even coming to the appointment, then another 50% chance of them even doing the job right. You want to have geek squad agents do you installs, but sometimes I literally have no choice but to do third party and praying that I am not going to get yelled at if they frick up. So I instruct people to go to Home Depot at this point for appliances.
>they are hard focusing on two things now: Credit Cards and those best buy plus/total memberships.
damn bruh i knew about the credit cards, i was thinking of getting one at some point, but i didn't know about the membership stuff. if they're relying on people to be on finance, why not just become a rent-a-shop or rent-to-own at that point.
That is why they are letting people use those moronic "pay in 4 month" plans online. I just don't believe in credit cards unless you are buying a appliance or something more major.
True, I had to order my motherboard from amazon even though I work at best buy since we didn't even sell it online.
>That is why they are letting people use those moronic "pay in 4 month" plans online.
i only use that with 0% APR, which amazon does. i've spent like $5,000 with those plans over the last 2-3 years and had no problems. unfortunately people aren't responsible enough and let all those $100 month plans snowball until they're suffocating. good thing i spent my formative years playing starcraft and warcraft 3, which really hammered in the concept of not spending what you don't have.
>I just don't believe in credit cards unless you are buying a appliance or something more major.
fair enough but credit cards are keeping me alive right now, especially things like balance transfers. i'm glad i spent the last 8 years building up my credit and credit limits because i'd be fricked now with inflation.
The 0% interest if paid in 12-months type stuff is good for sure. Like you said though, some people just go fricking nuts and get into huge debt because they need a bunch of useless crap like airpod maxes.
there's still an opportunity cost though, those store cards that offer 0% financing also offer 5% cash back in place of the financing
so if you finance $3000 for a year you effectively paid $150 in interest just from opportunity cost
are you moronic? instead of paying $3,000 all at once and financing for $200 a month, i'm able to use the $2800 for other things. not to mention that 5% gets swallowed up by inflation. it's better to have $3,000 debt then wait and buy the things later for $3,500.
must suck to have to turn down free money because you're eternally poor
must suck to never be rich because you're financially illiterate
>hurr durr financing a tv will make me rich
have a nice day moron
F
Appliance store, they are a dying company, so they are dropping anything they can just sell online
Best Buy near me in NYC sells barbecues, fireplaces, and refrigerators.
>Best Buy near me in NYC sells barbecues, fireplaces, and refrigerators.
let me guess, east new york?
Last time I went to Best Buy was just to get some noise canceling head phones, and that was back in 2017/2018.
>I miss that pair I bought so fricking much
>buy sony XM5's
>take excruciatingly good care of them
>speakers go out exactly 1 day after warranty expires
I should've listened to MJ
Sony headphones are like a fricking monthly expense. I switched to Koss about 4 years ago and I'm still on the same pair. I actually had to order some extra foam pads for the ears a few months ago since the hardware has outlived the pads that came with it.
Feel the same way about my AKGs-- in fact, I need to order some new pads myself. Thanks for the reminder anon
yeah
mj's hatred for sony eclipsed every anon on Ganker combined
What did sony do to mj?
you could write an entire encyclopedia series on how much the israelites at sony fricked him over
he almost had the last laugh as a majority shareholder in the company until they offed him in 2009
I've been using MX3 for something like 7 or 8 years now with speaker or battery issues. I really need to replace the pleather pads.
I had a pair of XM3s which lasted 3 or 4 years. The battery was finally dying and the headband broke when I dropped them. But I work from home and was using them 6+ hours a day all that time. I replaced them with another pair of XM3s in 2021 but immediately bought another pair of earpads. Just replaced the earpads, and have been using them as much as my previous pair.
I actually meant to type without issues. The battery and speakers are still fine.
>I miss that pair I bought so fricking much
what happened to them?
He won.
did he? has he ever?
Yeah, plenty of shit has been effectively erased forever as more places go down over the years. Total annihilation isn't the only way to win, slowly stomping the holdouts or waiting for them to die out as the users age with no new blood coming in is good enough for them.
every time they've "slowly stomped the holdouts" all it's ever done was create a new improved version of what came before. no more napster? 6 other p2p services popped up. p2p effectively snuffed out? torrents surfaced. public trackers stalked by dmca? private trackers or russian based ones like rutracker show up.
they never actually win, we literally just make it more complicated every since time for them to stop us. i have been on this planet for 33 years and i have owned literally everything for free and i have and will always be happy. i make it my hobby to subvert the subverters, and quietly. if i can get something free, with the overlords ultimately footing the bill as "acceptable losses", than i will. always.
>no more napster? 6 other p2p services popped up. p2p effectively snuffed out? torrents surfaced. public trackers stalked by dmca? private trackers or russian based ones like rutracker show up.
>we literally just make it more complicated
this falls under 'slowly stomping the holdouts or waiting for them to die out as the users age with no new blood coming in'
>as the users age with no new blood coming in
is this like the ostrich effect or what? what fairy tale dystopia do you hail from where you think that piracy isn't the most rampant it's literally ever been
It's stayed pretty much the same since F2P was even invented. The vast majority of NPCs are content to use streaming services and never learn how to pirate.
p2p, rather
>what fairy tale dystopia do you hail from where you think that piracy isn't the most rampant it's literally ever been
nta that's a bit of a loaded question.
piracy is at the most rampant it's ever been HOWEVER, and this is the important part, it's the lowest it's ever been in terms of user:pirate ratio.
if the pirating rates of 2023 were in line with what they were in the napster/kazaa/p2p days and just beyond, it would be something like 10x what it currently is.
pirating, esecially in regards to video games / software, is a dying field. hell there's only like 3 legit crack makers left in the PC gaming space, and two of them are always 1 meltdown away from killing themselves.
sounds like a pretty biased outlook if you ask me. i don't know a single person who doesn't pirate some shit in some form despite all the streaming services. you got anons here sharing cracks and shit. have an entire torrent board with threads for shit like porn, tv shows, movies, music, comics, onlyfans content, and no one fricking bats an eye. whole reddit communities about private trackers, mega caches, a whole site dedicated to watching out for cracks for new software and video games, several websites you can very readily access any new switch game that comes out in both .nsp and .xci format, people sharing plex server access with loads of shit to stream for free.
just because you don't personally see these things happening doesn't mean they're not happening.
>what fairy tale dystopia do you hail from where you think that piracy isn't the most rampant it's literally ever been
the one where streaming services were invented
yes, people will still pirate. it just will never be as widespread in terms of sheer proportion as it was back then. no, private trackers don't count as rampant
As long as poor countries with internet and laptops exist, piracy will exist. It'll be decades before all of eastern europe becomes rich enough to stop bothering with piracy, and after that there will be billions of Black folk working in chinese-owned factories who can pick up where they left off.
*blocks you're path*
Aw hell naw I have two steam accounts with around 2000 games each...
indeed. and people let him.
No one really wins. In the end he'll die shitting himself and gasping for every breath just like everyone else.
he's taken away the light of humanity
I think he won
Even better, he'll be constantly tortured by demons while he's doing that.

NO NOT THE HECKIN PHYSICAL MEDIA THAT WONT BE USABLE IN 10 YEARS.
>X360/PS3 and back, emulate
>XBO/PS4 and forward pirate
If you're buying physical on console, you're a complete moron
how are you pirating xbox one games?
Every single one is on PC
I can only think of Crimson Dragon and Halo 5 single player that are exclusive to Xbone.
>If you're buying physical on console, you're a complete moron
Physical is cheaper 90% of the time.
Piracy is 100% off
The more they trend away from media, the more I'll be inclined to pirate. Luckily, most modern games are trash or take like four years to be good, so it's not like I'm missing out by waiting.
Sales must be in the shitter or something.
get greedy go broke. Walmart has anything Best Goy had at better prices. I wept for Fry's Electronics, I won't weep for these mega israelites.
i remember looking at palm pilots and other pdas there as a kid, and seeing the ones with full color displays and that had windows on them were the coolest thing ever.
little did i know that form factor would lead to the destruction of everything that i loved.
Sure, but but what I loved about it was that back then you had to have 5 different gadgets to do 5 different things. Whenever I would walk through BB, Circuit City, Staples, Office Max, or Media Play I would always imagine being old enough to have money to buy some of this stuff. And it was very sub-rosa, like just nerdy guys. Now it's all just the same 1 device that everyone has.
Media Play was my fricking favorite store. Ironically Best Buy moving in nearby was what killed it even though their selection wasn't any better. I have never forgiven them for this and I won't be sad if they go under entirely.
Mine closed 5 years ago. The best memory I have is going there with my parents 26 years ago and I was going to buy some snes game then they called me over to the N64 game and like why dont you buy one of these instead. Then i was like these are n64 games I dont have an n64. then found out they had got me one and it was set up at home. I think i chose DKR as my first game.
That's awesome.
I remember the cool guy at my local Best Buy who grabbed the PC copy of Quake 2 from the backroom and handed it to me two weeks before the game's release. They did the same for me with other games. I loved them until Best Buy stopped selling physical PC games.
>I remember the cool guy at my local Best Buy who grabbed the PC copy of Quake 2 from the backroom and handed it to me two weeks before the game's release.
around 2008-2010 when jack thompson and the ESRB ratings were more strictly adhered to so i wasn't able to buy shit like GTA or bad company at gamestop. i had to go to some chinese guy running an electronics store that didn't give a frick so long as you had the cash, and would break streetdate all the time, if had the games in stock. i wonder who his supplier was, because the game discs, despite my fears, were legit and not bootlegs.
I have never been to a Best Buy
what's even the point in best buy anymore? Everything is cheaper online.
They have stuff locally that's usually out of stock online. For example during the GPU shortage everyone was hitting Amazon & Microcenter while smart people were camping Best Buy trucks.
I wish Fry's was still around. They had way more parts.
Last thing I bought from there was a Cooler master hyper 212. Still have it but it's not in use.
I bought a monitor and keyboard/mouse combo from them. They're good for bulky shit that you don't trust to stay intact during shipping and small stuff you don't want to wait 1-2 days for with Amazon.
I'll never gave a reason to go to Best Buy ever again.
wait what the frick
will they still have online physical media? i can't go back to buying video games from homosexualmazon
>yet somehow gamestop is still around
You know how all of those "WE BUY GOLD" shops mysteriously started popping up after the 08 crash?
Gamestop has gone full psycho for a while. Came by this today and almost dropped my drink
forgot pic
>October 4th 2015
That's like a month after the game came out. That implies they've had that copy at the store for nearly a decade and they never bothered to change the sticker at all.
It really is dire. You either get one that had barely a single wall for all their games or one with some retro games for fricking moronic internet prices. I've seen those frickers sell Phantom Hourglass for 50 bucks without the case or manuals.
I don't know if you guys are just exaggerating or just flat out lying, but the dozen or so Gamestops around me are all still normal game stops that sell video games. There's some floating kiosks now with action figures and funko pops and tabletop games that take up a bunch of floor space instead of the usual bargin bins, but it's still 3 of 4 walls full of games.
Post the yelp pages for them then.
i live in tampa florida, google the shit yourself, i don't really care and certainly am not going to go through the effort.
thats what I thought cracker
>i live in tampa florida
So you're roughly a decade behind everyone else then, so not surprising Gamestops still are normal there
It varies from store to store really. I went to the mall recently and the Gamestop there literally had one wall for all games. There are others that have a lot more shelf space for games, but are still packed to the brim with garbage shit collectables and clothing.
Physical disks are a low margin product, gamestop makes like 5 dollars from every disk sold, that's why they aggressively shill pre-orders and memberships. It's also why they devalue new games by opening them and massively inflate the price of used games compared to what they pay for them, they want to blur the distinction so consumers are more likely to buy used copies from them where they do make a decent profit.
It depends on the store.
One that's about half an hour away from me literally has the entire back half of the store with toys, clothing, Funko Pops, and for some reason imported Tokusatsu toys. Everyone seems to love Golden Tiga/normal Tiga statues as well they're in seemingly every store. You will only find games along the opposite side of the wall and they have dozens of floating kiosks with nothing but merchandise. When I went the day after Christmas they had an entire section of a wall dedicated solely to Funko Pops.
One that's like ten minutes away from me in a strip mall is literally nothing but merchandise except for the used games on the walls which only take up half the wall space, not even all of it. 80% of the store is just merchandise with Pokemon card packs being a fairly significant portion of a wall.
One that's at a local mall is only merchandise in a very small section of the store and at the entrance only on the wall. The rest of it is games.
One that's like ten minutes away from that local mall is in the exact same situation as the one 30 minutes away from me but with a significantly smaller selection of merchandise.
There's a gas station near me that sells wii shop point cards. Or at least it still has them on the back wall with the gift cards and cigarettes
Did you tell them they're fricking stupid?
>pro member price: $49.49
LOL WTF are they trying to catfish normies? I wonder what employee will try to scam this shit onto a customer with a straight face.
I got a lot of cash for Christmas and decided to buy some physical game carts, of the 5 stores I went to I found maybe one game I wanted. If you want physical shit Amazon is pretty much the only option now, and its soulless
Shit establishment, just like Blockbuster
>B-B-BUT REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS HECKIN BASED AND SOUL
No, I remember it as a monolith that pushed smaller better stores out of business. And their physical media section has been dwindling for a decade.
Is gamestop being propped up by the reddit boomers? I don't see how the frick they're still alive
gamestop will crash the world economy
gamestop wont exist by 2027
Well, gamestop is a radically different company that has miraculously survived the rough waters of the industry.
Best Buy is a cheap imitation of the real GOAT.
Yeah but I don't have one of those down the street.
I buy all my physical games for 10 years now online since all stores charge more
first they took my caldor. then they took my sears. after that they took my radioshack. a few years ago they took my kmart. now they want best buy? when will the technoisraelite be sated?
Everything will be consolidated to Amazon, unfortunately. It doesn't matter as brick and mortar stores are for non-whites anyways.
Are you the guy who posts his breakroom on Ganker?
>OH MY FLURKING GORSH ARE U LE EBIN Ganker CELEBRITY???
You people are fricking pathetic as shit
Seethe more.
The original Breakroom is a glowBlack person from /misc/ who pretends to work at Wallmart to demoralize anons into thinking that's the only future in store for them.
Don't cry, Nepgya. Just order from AliExpress
Don't forget Toys R' Us.
i don't think i've bought anything from best buy/future shop in 5+ years.
Best Buy died for me the day they took away Gamer's Club Unlocked. That was the best deal in gaming.
Gamer's Club was Best Buy undercutting Gamestop, it was a massive success because it was a genuinely great deal, and once they'd lobotomized GS they canceled Gamers Club
It's the same every time a giant corporation runs a "too good to be true" deal, it's just a means of eliminating competition that can't compete with the loss lead offer and once the competitor is no longer a threat they end it.
>Best Buy has decided to go out of business
Seriously, physical media still makes up about 30-40% of the store
Best Goy going out of business? Frickem
Gamestop barely resembles a game store anymore, It's nerd Hot Topic. They could drop selling physical games and still chug along by using the space for lego star wars and funko pops
>It's nerd Hot Topic
I've been saying that for a decade. Real motherfrickers went to their local games store or dug through the 10-20$ bin in the electronics section at a department store. Miss those stores since they all went the way of the dodo in the last couple of years.
There's still a discount local games store in my city that does business. I picked up Cyberpunk, Witcher III w/ DLC and Watch Dogs for Christmas gifts for about 70 bucks. Hope they stay alive.
Kek! Yeah, at all the Black folktops I've seen recently the front half of the store is loaded with t-shirts, coffee mugs, funkopops, posters, and maybe some Razer RGB PC GAYMURR shit.
That's how a lot of old retailers survived. Barnes & Nobles used to sell books, now they sell manga, kitschy wine aunt shelf clutter, hipster accoutrements, overpriced lattes, and also some books.
>It's nerd Hot Topic
so it's hot topic
my local one closed a long time ago, but just just recently went to one and it was quite different than I remember
the same thing happened to F.Y.E
FYE is not terrible now but it's completely different. It's like hot topic for redditors, complete with dark lighting.
I member back in the day when it was a store you went to to buy cheap dvds and shit.
When I went back to FYE their dvds were fukken expensive, you kidding me? They regularly sold stuff for twice as much I saw it everywhere else
Now Hastings? THAT was a good store. Genuinely rest in peace, I miss that place. Got an omnibus of the original Bionicle comic book run that went all the way up to the Toa Nuva fighting cahdok and Gahdok for like $7, that thing was awesome
i mean is that even true? has anyone read the article?
MicroGAWDS stay winning
I used to go to the one in Santa Clara next to the movie theater all the time
Miss that place.
>microcenter
It's a great place if you're lucky enough to live near one. I'd be going there all the time to buy shit if I lived 5-10 minutes from one.
the stores look cool but I wish there was one near my area
>MicroGAWDS stay winning
The are VERY selective on the locations but it's worth it. There's finally going one in Miami
Feels good to live in Columbus.
They already did that for music albums a while back, not surprised
It's going to be interesting because big malls and outdoor malls don't really have a place going forward because of such a strong shift to online shopping. It would be smart if they just started knocking and tearing malls down and changed them into condo/housing developments because that could possibly help solve the housing crisis.
Do you have an actual source?
If I want physical I just goto the nearest supermarket store like walmart or target. no reason to specifically goto best buy or Black folktop. frick Black folktop
Considering they still had them up as of a few days ago I'm very confused since they and Walmart outright said they're only getting rid of their Xbox physical game sections, nothing else.
>gamestop
Every games top I've been into the last couple years has gutted 90% of the space in the store for funko pops for some reason
i miss this little homie so much
It still exists (Online).
My rare DS games, Bleach: Blade of Fate
I used to love playing the demo kiosks there while my mom shopped at the craft store next door.
not as much as I miss THIS lil homie
Yeah I miss paying $80 for a used copy of Final Fantasy II that barely worked.
>Funcoland
Sounds like your average Gamestop.
DivX killed it
Bought thief 3, deus ex 2 and hitman contracts for 5 bucks a pop. Shit was cash.
>me gear
wut? lmao
GAME GEAR you stupid fricking zoomer holy shit.
lol never heard of this piece of shit just looked it up, got fricking binned by the game boy 100 million sales to 10. get the frick out with this dead pos that killed batteries in 2 minutes. no wonder nobody heard of it, it sold like fricking shit.
jesus christ the internet and easily accessible information was a mistake.
>lol never heard of this piece of shit
Holy shit don't tell him about the Turbo Express!
Or the Lynx, or probably even the frickin’ n-gage.
I'm sure the n-gage has hundreds of shitty video essays about it on the youtube that most people under the age of 30 has seen at least one of.
bait
Metal Gear
"damn that's a cool store, I wonder what the other side of those shelves looked like"
Reminds me of Babbages. Used to love hanging around there looking at games and the bookstore near it to read video game magazines.
Lmao why.
It easy money.
You can't tell me people don't buy CoD, FIFA, GTA and shit like that on mass
There must be more to it. Something behind the scenes
I went there a few weeks ago when they started this. All of the games were gone, replaced with these shitty little laminated pages. They even put some of the pages in the anti-theft boxes. It was the most soulless thing that I have ever seen. Even if they had a game that I really wanted, my eyes likely would have glossed right over it.
*blocks your path*
Can't wait for the Freedom Credit System. If you aren't a good citizen you won't be able to shop anywhere, as everything will be moved online. You will own nothing and be happy.
>only place near me that still sells physical games now is fricking Walmart
gamestop adapted to the current market by basically pushing out everything but physical novelties and tchotchkes.
I've been to a few of my local gamestops (the ones that haven't closed at least) and there's usually one wall for all games, spanning PS2 to now, counter space is 90% pokemon cards, 10% handheld/retro vidya, and the entire rest of the store is t-shirts, funko pops, super soakers, fake lightsabers, etc etc.
I seriously doubt Gamestop is going to exist in 5 to 10 years. The market for trash like that cannot be enough to sustain them.
I went into a FYE recently and I was shocked in what it has transformed into.
I don't shop for blu-rays or dvds all that often but the price of the movies and tv shows there are insane. Like who the frick is going to spend 130 bucks on Seinfeld or 40 for the new Spiderman movie?
buying movies and shows are better than spending it on games, though?
Possibly, but honestly everyone was saying the same about a decade ago, right after gen 8 kicked off proper. I don't know what to believe anymore because there's so much money in venture capital and blackrock that they can hold pretty much anything they want up, indefinitely.
the whole $GME thing legitimately gave the company a second set of legs to run on, otherwise it would be donezo by now.
Is EVERYONE in this thread american? I've never seen a Best Buy store in my life.
i went into best buy not long ago and its a husk of what it was in like 2005. reminds me of when radioshack began exclusively selling phones and crap
>greg coomer
>work introduces new computer sign in system that requires we use our personal smart phone’s thumb scanner
>didn’t even ask us if we all had one before implementing it
I hate tech companies so much
That is super gross.
Where are we supposed to buy physical video games now?
go to another store.
Hi there!
You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of Ganker are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!
Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!
It's ok I've ascended such titled when I was given the lifetime achievement award at the 20th anniversary celebration.
I don't go there often, but yes.
I'm a generational poster.
>The original Breakroom is a glowBlack person
This meme has to end. Just because you're jealous doesn't mean you can be saying such falsehoods.
>from /misc/
I'm in a bunch of places if your homosexual ass hasn't noticed.
>who pretends to work at Wallmart
They pretend to pay me so I'm shitposting more often than not.
>to demoralize anons into thinking that's the only future in store for them.
Oh really? Where have I said this? If your endeavors work for you: great. If they don't, sucks for you.
You clearly aren't the same person who ostensibly took those photographs, and this is at least the third tripcode you've gone through now. If you're not a glowBlack person psyop, then you're some homosexual performance art that is even gayer.
>You clearly aren't the same person who ostensibly took those photographs
Stop talking shit, karl.
>and this is at least the third tripcode you've gone through now.
No, this is my backup as my regular one is put on ice because some cuck mod thought the address of the Now! Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL was considered doxxing.
>If you're not a glowBlack person psyop, then you're some homosexual performance art that is even gayer.
I'm just playing a character, like everyone here is.
Well you're boring me, so I will filter your third trip now.
>Well you're boring me
If you come to 4cuck for entertainment then you're already fricked.
so I will filter your third trip now.
What was my second one? Humor me. I have at least a dozen.
>I have at least a dozen.
Wow, you really are shameless.
Frick off my website namehomosexual
>my website
Medication time
I can't speak for everyone, but for some of us, unfortunately, walmart is the only thing we have in life. Why would we kill ourselves? To MAKE ROOM, MAKE ROOM! for hordes of low IQ minorities?
What is depicted is the application of bio-freeze patches due to improper lifting practices for over a decade. We're all banged up here in one way or another since we'd all fail a piss test should we report our injuries.
It's just a way for Perry to get a bunch of entertainment. It's not the first time I've done the work of multiple people (and it's not going to be the last).
I don't wanna talk about that time... "essential worker" my ass. Talk about a mindfrick linguistic psyop.
I bought a physical game a week or two ago, AC6, but it was the first one in like 10 years, I waited too long. This is my fault, I'm sorry
>Tfw physical is just the license, you still download the game. It's exactly the same except you have to put in the DRM check everytime you want to play it, but hey, I got a box!
You will own nothing and you will be happy remember? Bestbuy is one of globohomosexual owned corporation
it's happening to me.
I'm always surprised at how many people were Homer when they first saw that scene, and actually thought it would never happen to them.
Homer being a set 40 years old makes him a millennial now.
Funny thing is that Homer was originally only 34 or so at the start of the series. It's depressing to realize you're older than Homer freakin' Simpson.
I'm still between Bart and Homer
>Every day I feel more and more out of the loop with what's trendy and popular.
>Also balding and getting doughier.
Once I contract jaundice my Homerfication will be complete.
I walked into my best buy and it was dismal. Just no care for anything. Random items in dumb places and just mainly televisions and appliances. Only the computer section was set up decently.
It is not just bestbuy, no one does shopping anymore when they can all get shit from Amazon and thry dont have to deal with blacks
Amazons same-day/next-day service has killed going to stores for me completely other than groceries.
Not only do you not have to pay the ridiciulous physical store markup, but you basically get it in as quick as you otherwise could short of stopping what you're doing and going to the store then.
Seriously I went to get some USB-C -> USB-A adapters and BB wanted 29.99$ for a 2 pack.
I had them delivered to my front door in literally 4 hours and it cost me 6.99$.
>Amazons same-day/next-day service has killed going to stores for me completely other than groceries.
I wish I had that in my area.
It was the same story for me when I did some Christmas shopping there. I was immediately surprised by how empty the store was and by just how visibly uninterested everyone the employees looked, as if they didn’t expect to actually see any customers.
I was wondering why all the shelves looked so picked clean when I was there the other day.
Post-holiday reset.
The last time I bought something from "Best Buy" they clearly sold it from some 3rd party Chinese homosexual despite listed as being sold and shipped by them. so I stopped buying from them.
Of course they're removing it, they're likely shutting down soon.
If Americans don't do this, they get LOOTED and if they defend themselves, they are racist
You can tell how much of a shithole your area is by how much shit stores keep behind lock and key. It's becoming more common everywhere you go now. Can't even get fricking toiletries anymore without having to go find a wagie (who always seem to disappear right when you need one) to unlock the plexiglass door.
WALMART IS ETERNAL
get digging boy
these bins are the shit. i got a collectors tin of The Raid on bluray in one of these once.
I'll never stop kicking myself for not taking advantage of the Walmart bargain bin back then. There was shit like Pandora's Tower, The Last Story and Rhythm Heaven Fever and I passed them each time thinking "I'll get them next time". That next time never came.
At least you didn't pass up a copy of the Metroid Prime Trilogy for 20 dollars like I did when our local movie store was closing down. At least I bought that copy of cooking mama with hand drawn cover art by an employee from there.
I pillaged my Circuit City for PC games when they went under, no one was buying them at all so I pretty much had my pick of everything they had.
>that copy of cooking mama with hand drawn cover art by an employee from there.
One day you will realize this was the true treasure
I treasure it every day, but I still regret not getting that trilogy, it was sealed too.
It pains me to think of all the rare games I passed by as a kid because they didn't interest me. I distinctly remember not buying the trilogy multiple times because I didn't like the boxart.
There was one time where I almost bought other m instead of the trilogy but then decided on something else at the last minute.
At least I was able to play it on wiiu.
My local Walmart doesn't even have these anymore because shit kept getting stolen
Unfortunately so. They'll be the second company on the planet Mars after McDonald's.
How do these people not kill themselves? Are they just too low iq to grasp how soulless and meaningless of an existence they have?
These are the people who went along with covid scam what do you thinjk
What the frick is even happneing in the background? I worked at the docks seeing rats eating each others but goddamnit wouldn't trade for one second in a walmart.
Western civilization will never again be as good as it was in the 90s.
Covid pretty much ended the malls for good
It was a long time coming anyway. The fiefs that own the mall buildings keep charging insane rent that more and more stores are becoming unable to afford. Covid just pushed it forward by a few years.
>the world you grew up in no longer exists
This is always how it goes. Why do you think old people are always complaining about things not being the way they once were? You're starting to feel it now. You'll continue to feel it as you get older and older
Shits fricked, and will continue to become more fricked. At the same time other things improve life compared to when you were younger. But it never feels like and even trade
Black person 1995 and 2005 are way closer than 2005 and 2015
something like 30 years passed between 2019 and 2022
>2019 and 2022
Pretty much due to the cough all stores got to be upfront and say "We want you in and we want you out" and that isn't changing.
It feels like the whole world stalled out. Shit changed when I was a kid. Every few years something new came around that made me hopeful for the future just to see what is going to get invented and made next. Then just nothing. When something new does come around like VR it feels half made like they got bored with making it halfway through and just shoved it out the door with a sticker saying "Fix it yourself" on it. I remember fricking being amazed at the backlit screen on the gameboy and then the DS came out and then the 3DS came out. I was sure we would have full dive tech by the time I was out of college. Instead I haven't updated my PC in 6 years because there is literally no reason to. Nothing pushes the boundaries.
this is your fault you know. want to know why clothes stores still exist everywhere? because women still go out and shop for fun. meanwhile the nanosecond you shut-ins could get your vidya without exposing yourselves light of day, that was all you needed.
so no, kids won't get to have those fun trips to the game stores anymore, but at least you avoided human interaction, something you Gankerirgins are great at.
>tfw you dont work with walmart break room anon
I don't care. I order everything online and I'm not a console cuck.
Golly gee, living in interesting times sure can be interesting.
Well that's unfortunate. That was the last place I had to pick up items on release day that I didn't preorder. I don't even really have a GameStop near me any more. There is one in a nearby mall but forget parking there. Next closest is almost 10 miles away.
I miss them lads. Last time I went was in like 2015 and they still had GBA games and shit; was super surreal, like walking through a portal in time.
I remember my local Walmart had a copy of GTA trilogy for PS2 and That's So Raven for the GBA up until like 2017. I miss finding relics like that at filthy old stores.
You get what you deserve for abandoning physical media. Everyone pushed steam as a way to get cheaper games, now digital stuff costs the same and you have to deal with not actually owning your games. They don't even make buy CD, insert and play PC games anymore, even the discs you track down will have you go through fricking steam, frick laptops don't even come with disc drives now. Physical media is dead and you will own nothing.
>even the discs you track down will have you go through fricking steam
I learned that when I got the orange box in 2008. 4 DVDs? What's the purpose?
nothing is worth owning anymore lol
all according to plan
Steam has been a net positive. The things most worth playing on Steam would never get a physical copy in the old system, and sale prices were historic, but continue to be well worth it today. Prices drop like a stone on most games, even if they're horrific blunders.
Computers were too well suited for digital media too quickly for this not to happen.
Youtube has made all these physical media irrelevant it is not steam idiot
>it is not steam idiot
Well it doesn't help when any physical pc game is completely useless since it wont work without activating a steam code.
youtube is an awful archiving platform, though?
I fricking HATE best buy. I don't know how you gays even care about this.
>Incompetent pushy business students trying to hustle you
>Dumbass Management that has no fricking idea about electronics
>Overpriced product and just budget Chinese accessories
>SIR SIR HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT FAIRSTONE FINANCING SIR SIR
>>I don't know how you gays even care about this.
Because I use the store for video games and movies primarily?
>Constantly has niche games.
>Actually has deals with iam8bit and LRG so you get retail copies of their games or special editions exclusive to them like the Yarny doll for Unravel or the Meat Boy plush for SMB.
>Has a significantly better selection than Gamestop of all places.
>Games are constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, on sale for $20-40 sometimes weeks after release.
I got Hogwarts Legacy for $35 or something like that a month or two after release, Guardians of the Galaxy for $40 within the month of release, Like a Dragon: Ishin on PS5 maybe two or three months after release for $20, and a relative of mine picked up HL on PS4 for $30 when it just came out on PS4 like a month prior.
>Their clearanced items are actually pretty nice and you tend to get a decent selection of rotating games unless you're on Switch, then it's MM11, Minecraft Legends, and Unravel 2 in perpetuity.
>Amiibo selection is typically larger than Gamestop until fairly recently where it's just been Metroid Dread and Splatoon 2 boys they couldn't sell.
>Exclusive steelbooks and items that you can get even without pre-ordering.
>Bluray section is fantastic and they somehow get every single Millcreek release so I was able to buy stuff like Ultraman sets from there for cheaper than from Millcreek itself.
It's pretty much the first store I check outside of Amazon when I want to get something, and 99% of Slickdeals deals are straight from Best Buy due to how often they do them.
>FAIRSTONE FINANCING
You are in canada, as the states have "progressive leasing" it is also a scam that I refuse to mention to people. That said, that is why you are having so many "SARS PLEASE REDEEM MEMBASHIP". Fun fact: The progressive lease financing is banned in certain states for anti-consumer reasons or something.
I can't imagine US Best Buy being any better but Canada BB sucks dick.
>people were warned ahead of time
>shocked it's actually happening
Bestbuy
Blockbuster
CircuitCity
Frys
End of an Era
I thought Ganker was pretty Ganker but some of you folks worry me....
this is the same board that thinks pcsx2 is still a piece of shit and obtuse to use when it's improved strides in only a couple of years
>it's improved strides in only a couple of years
oh a couple years ago people were saying it was fine
it must have desperately needed it then if you're saying it has improved so much
I fricking hate retroarch UI. Don't @ me. I don't know why people defend that moronic design.
>I fricking hate retroarch UI
Which one?
Wym which one?
Retroarch gives you multiple options for UIs. Maybe try fricking around with options for 10 seconds before giving up like a little b***h.
>dick riding retroarch
Kys
Yeah this.
There are at least four different menu skins for Retroarch. Unless you mean just the large, unwieldy nature of how many menus and submenus it has, which I agree with. The average person won't need 90% of it, though, so if you just learn where what you need is and set it the first time you play a new core you'll barely ever have to see the menu.
Retroarch is the most offensively bad piece of software I've ever tried, even worse than discord. Why the FRICK do you have to go through so many submenus just for basic fricking config settings, the UI design is "have a nice day programmer" tier.
the dev picks fights with people on twitter who criticize the ui
Well then they must be fighting 24/7 because that UI fricking sucks
Frick it, I'm going to go find them and tell them that as well if it gets under their skin so badly
console Black folk were always illiterate
make a board for PC games and I wouldn't touch this shithole filled with bing bing wahoo Black person movie simulator enjoyers ever again
how did the internet start off as the pinnacle of soul only to become the downfall of man in a few short decades
Consolidation and monetization.
Greed.
ad revenue
every time women get their hands on a new tech they get naked
The Internet has been for porn since the beginning.
yea but women couldn't take the photo of their butthole and upload it themselves and monetize it
that's when everything got perma ruined instead of the israelite making cash of the anus something even more demonic got control of it
Jews.
it's a mystery
Pajeets may wonder why there is so much negativity towards their beloved country and kinds. They need to look at themselves cuz the infographic says a lot.
That's not really Selena Gomez right?
She hit the wall hard. People are thirsty as shit.
Got too popular and went from being a Pathetic toy for Useless Social Reject Geeks to a Legitimate source for Political, Financial and Social Power
I don't get it. Why do people actively watch this? Just look up their porn, no need to watch them stare at the screen.
married men pay to chat with ""them"" on onlyfans
that's the business model
and in general if you allow porn on a site it becomes a porn site cause prostitutes are naturally israelites' best soldiers
most of those are 11 year olds that are stumbling into the porn pipeline for the first time
whenever I see this I just feel uneasy. These women look disgusting and there is just something grimy about it all.
>angelfire is still around
how
Thanks to the normies
you think people with normal jobs can handle internet lmao
>download ragnarok online on my compaq presario
>takes 3 days
now games take 3 minutes to download and I STILL WANT TO GO BACK
We have reached the point where the only place to buy physical vidya is FRICKING GAMESTOP.
Walmart and other big stores still sell physical games, often with better selections than gamestop.
Walmart, Target, and Amazon are both the best places to get them outside of Best Buy. Target even has a pretty great clearance section and sales but not a big selection of stuff. They also have the Fire Emblem Three Houses musou and Bayonetta Origins on sale in perpetuity, it's crazy how none of their stores can get rid of them even at $20.
We don't have Micro Centers where I live, and Fry's/Radio Shack are long gone, so if Best Buy were smart they'd use the space to stock more PC/electronic components and parts/accessories and try to fill that void. But they're not smart. They're going to cram a bunch of toys and useless knickknack bullshit in there instead. They're already doing it at the one near me.
So now even cinema is going down but how come music festival keep growing everyyear?
because a music festival is an experience with lifelong memories and movies come to streaming like 2 months after they hit theaters, and those are the mega blockbusters, the other shit is like 2 weeks.
Surely nothing to do with BLM smash and grab moves right?
>Best buy removed all PC physicals long ago
This pissed me off, so now I don't care.
PC physicals don't even really exist anymore.
That's not just Best Buy.
I miss this place. Used to walk there as a lil boy and browse the new games and movies.
I spent $500 at gamestop last week.
There needs to be somewhere to buy physical games and Gamestop is literally the only option in most places.
I worked at Electronics Boutique before during and after the GameStop buyout. I witnessed a dramatic shift in store policies and the types of upper managers in the nearly six years I was working there. I was told near the end of my tenure that I was "making too much" in my position as an ASM as I got my position, promotion, and wage while I was at EB. Apparently GameStop was paying their ASMs close to minimum wage because they could get away with it as video game retail never had a lack of people wanting to work there. I was eventually fired with no notice after I returned from a paid vacation. Their reason: I had accidentally broke street date on Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I wasn't the only one though. A bunch of people made that mistake because it had not been labeled as street dated and arrived in a box full of restock items.
I miss those days working at EB. It was good times.
Wow, they shamelessly framed you. At least there were good times.
the EB game shops closed around my area like 10 years ago or so, when gamestop was taking over. sorry to hear about the corporate fricking you over. how much were you making that was "too much"? genuinely curious. i was watching one of the pirate software shorts on youtube, that homie was making like $12/hr in southern california 2012 or so working at blizzard. i don't blame people for thinking communism is preferable at this point.
It was a long time ago, but I think I was making $14/hour back then. FFXII was just coming out as was the Wii. To add insult to injury they canceled my Wii preorder as well. I wasn't able to get one until about six months later when the manager from another store I was on good terms with held one under the counter for me.
>used to have a future shop near where I lived
>it closes down in 2015
>hear rumors about how "they'll just put a best buy there"
>they don't
>they just put another dollar store there instead
>closest best buy was now over an hour away
good riddance, I guess?
The insomniac leaks didn't show that only 2 playstation games sold more in physical than digital format?
I mean, only 2 game sold more in digital than physical format
Yeah, most Playstation and Switch games are still sold physically I believe.
>Be me
>Working at Best Buy via early 00's
>A new Gamecube display got put in, gonna check out Rogue Squadron 2
>Gonna pick up FFX after shift ends
>Nickelback is blasting throughout the store non stop
>AND THEY SAY THAT A HEEEERRO CAN SAVE US
fricking take me back
Hero was technically Chad Kroeger solo, not Nickelback.
The last physical games I got were Elden Ring, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Fire Emblem Engage when they came out. Everything I play now is On Gamepass
>physical media on the way out
>cable TV on the way out
>CRT tv's are gone
>4:3 has been replaced with 16:9
>video games have been placed with movie games
>soulful cellphones have been replaced with smartphones
>forums have been replaced with social media
>the sun is now white when it used to be yellow
Something happened when we entered the late 2000's, and I don't like it. Take me back.
Frick 4:3
4:3 is comfy because the screen takes up less of my eyes, which relieves them
CERN and their devil machine did this
2008 was the first time they turned it on and something definitely changed in 2008. And it's only getting worse. They pulled a thread of reality and now it's all slowly unravelling.
it legitimately feels like the worst timeline is being chosen at every opportunity
We all died and went to hell in sometime in 2007.
Friend buys all his physical movies directly from distributor. Best Buy is overpriced and shit, this will not affect anything.
The Frys Electronics near my area is gone. Best Buy is dead. Id probably be really upset about this if modern vidya was good. But its total woke slop shit anyway. I set up my Steam Deck for retro gaming and this is how I’ll spend the next 60 years
400 replies and still no reputable source or confirmaton btw.
They announced back in October that they would be doing this in 2024. I don’t see why you would post this without actually bothering to do what you’re saying should have already been done.
Microcenter is opening in my city in a couple months. Worth going to for PC stuff?
They usually have really good deals if you do a mobo/cpu bundle. Not much else really in terms of value.
They do pretty good PC component deals. It's quite an experience just wandering through and looking at the electronics/DIY areas and the 3D printers. There's the expected TV, Monitor, PC and Laptop area as well.
They already have in my area. All their movies, shows, etc. are gone. They have one small kiosk for games. Everything else are appliances that don't even have any information on them. You have to use your phone and scan the QR codes. This shit is depressing.
Best buy used to have a pretty good deal, where you could preorder new games for 20% off. Last purchased a special edition of Xenoblade X from them.
A couple months back, I decided to drop in after an appointment, to look at monitors and tvs in person. And was surprised at how absolutely -derelict- it was. The main front of the store looked like a section of their back warehouse. Only 2 outdated monitors on display, and a small section for sportsball TVs that was just surrounded by boxes with noticeable wear on them, and made it all feel claustrophobic and grimy.
The mall it's tied too isn't in a better state. Every stall owned by surly, middle aged Indians that look miserable to be there. Stores noticeably dirty, stocking the cheapest crap sold at insane prices. English is a secondary language. The Hot Topic is gone.
The world is a darker place.
>ywn go in to a real video store ever again
>ywn go into a real arcade ever again
People talk shit about bestbuy, but i always find the best deals there. Appliances, tvs, laptops. They have shit return policy though but i usually save $100-200 buying big ticket items from there. I saved $500 on my washer/dryer from Bestbuy compared to lowes/home Depot which were 2nd cheapest compared to multiple other stores.
Shit.
They are where id grab up LRG shit
>the future
They've been transitioning their stores into mini distribution centers for a while.
I miss the days when something could just be an unknown that came from no where. I loved talking to my friends about games I liked and have them look me in the eyes and say "That game does not exist." and then whipping it out and playing multiplayer for 12 hours straight. I loved talking to people about how to do things and being amazed at what they found because I would just never think of doing what they did. Nowadays everything is advertised and datamined and there is just no mystery anymore.
Walmart is also planning on phasing out physical media too just FYI.
Gamestop is a toy store now.
I worked at my local one from 2009 to 2011 while in undergrad. Shit was magical. So many amazing midnight launches.
Now it's gone. RIP my Gamestop.
did you save gamestop by buying the stock?
Wasn't worth saving by the time the stock meme came about.
What were those homies doing? I assumed that the fat guy was probably injured or something and couldn't drag him out, but he proved later in the video that he in fact could.
People are property and investments. If it's not their kid, it's not their problem. The only consideration is the legal liability. "If I touch this kid to bring him out of the water, does it open me up to litigation?"
Does china not have good samaritan laws? Also that doesn't explain why he decided to drag him out later.
Not only does China not have good samaritan laws you are legally and financially responsible for people you save
Nope. Is pretty fricked up honestly. The created the social credit system to force you to be a "good" citizen but you are fricked if you actually try be a good one
yea lack of good samaritan laws is why 10s of millions of dogs are torched alive on the streets with everybody watching lol
>Gamestop is a BAD toy store now
Fix'd for you.
I wish they actually had a decent stock of cool toys but everything is Funko shit or expensive entry-level statues. Even toddlers toy stores have more variety and better stock than the "enthusiast" ones
>Physical media is anti-semitic
Seriously though, I hope you're ready for the shift.
With physical games for consoles/PC you could easily get them for like 10-15 bucks. It was like a Steam Sale but better and not time-limited.
I got DOOM Eternal for like 10€ like a year after release. Of course there was no disc, just a key to activate in the Zenimax launcher or whatever it was called.
Soon, you're lucky if you can get that 10 year old game for 20-30€ when it's on sale in the digital store
Putting almost the entirety of society in the hands of the internet and technology is such a bad idea.
>Putting almost the entirety of society in the hands of the internet and technology is such a bad idea.
You're just figuring this out now?
