He's not wrong, retro refers to design specifications. It's why you can have a retro refrigerator made in the past year.
That being said it's sort of hard for me to say, since the 360 and ps3 were still pretty similar to the previous gen.
And everything about modern gaming's design trappings.
The race bullshit, esports homosexuality, most games being objectively worse clones of old games designed around marketing irrelevant tertiary "gaming" garbage via streamers etc.
A considerable portion of that generation was designed far FAR too long ago to be fricked to the same degree as modern games are.
>that generation was a slow burner
PS5 came out in 2020. PS5 Slim came out last week. PS6 will probably arrive in late 2026, just in time for GTA6 re-release.
basically no one did, he is right. I knew one kid that did, his parents were both lawyers. Most people weren't dropping 400 bucks on a toy for their kid in 2005.
moron. Halo 2 and Gears of War were huge online. Just because your poor ass thirdie family didn't get one until they went on sale doesn't mean nobody else had one.
>The Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and Sony PlayStation 2 will now be considered "retro".
can't wait for the day Xbox 360 becomes allowed on /vr/
More divisions just thins out user base. Mods and other parasites think prisons and policing produce perfection. It's entirely the opposite. The less people check and confine themselves the more likely they get out something that counts.
Thinking about it retro is also a term for another time. The world having moved on. Some prefer things done with more care, more humanity, which is usually what the past produces. It's a meaningless world the worst of generations force into use, maybe meaning backward.
Shouldn't be used at all I guess. Things are either good or bad. Maybe wholely good or invalid. Some hand made or high quality singlets should be used as reference to replace the cheap chinese concession clothing. Doesn't have to bad coming from something bad perhaps. Something to save them.
Or not. Can't simulate care and craftamanship. It doesn't need reference and that shows.
Or not too. Everything the reault if passed on good/evil whatever term means right. Not passed on then the world degrades.
Another reason to hate copyright, but variety may be better than everything of high quality.
Or not.
What is right should be all that makes it into being passed on. A lifes work for a singlet on the shelves always.
>CRTs were already being phased out for LCDs with no radical shifts after that outside of marginal improvements to display tech that was chosen almost exclusively due to shipping and warehouse shit >Low-poly was no longer the dominant style with no changes in style after that >Modern control schemes were already being refined >Controllers are the same then as they are now
5th gen was the last console that could be considered retro, we haven't definitively moved out of any era or passed any delineation since then. While it would be a stretch to say that games from 6th gen would not be out of place on a modern system, there is very little difference between 7th, 8th and 9th gen consoles.
Diminishing returns. Also the 360 sucked, most of them bricked at release and they bought Rare when it was a hollow shell. Maybe Gears of War and that's it. Imagine giving money to Gates. And put him in charge of your fricking gaming. That's what you get.
I guess so but it doesn't feel like it because we really haven't made such a huge jump like going from 16bit to 32bit plus they keep remastering shit from 360
It's weird. That generation lasted so long that it feels like one half of the generation is retro or whatever word you want to use for it, and the other half feels like it was only just pre-covid.
In my mind Halo 3 is retro. Even Halo Reach is retro. But Halo 4 is basically new.
Maybe it's because my teenage years were the entire generation, my most formative years. So by the time Halo 4 came out I was a completely different person than when Halo 3 came out.
But then again, maybe it's more arbitrary than release date because I feel like CoD2 is retro, and CoD4, but not MW2. In fact, I think MW2 was the beginning of the amalgamation, of the takeover by greedy suits.
> Its old enough to be someone's grown up child.
I know man, time flies.
gen 4 is the last retro
Retro is a style
No its not, go back to your psych ward unit.

That makes sense, unlike the pedophile who attacked your post.
Salvage what was done right/nice. Repaired or recreated. Doesn't need a word. A description could form an awareness of it.
Sentimentality may due to quality. The appreciation of things should be preserved to. The way of knowing things so they're liked more.
it's not
360 didn’t really get going until 2007 when Halo 3 came out. Nobody owned one in 2005.
PS3 didn't get going until Uncharted 2, that generation was a slow burner
>that generation was a slow burner

There was a time when consoles wouldn't last more than 4 years due to rapidly increasing processing power.
>Nobody owned one in 2005
absolute moronation
basically no one did, he is right. I knew one kid that did, his parents were both lawyers. Most people weren't dropping 400 bucks on a toy for their kid in 2005.
lawyers make way less than what your moronic brain thinks
>Most people weren't dropping 400 bucks on a toy for their kid
confirmed zoomer

Call of Duty 2 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Then GRAW. Amped 3? and PGR3.
And it’s jank but I liked Perfect Dark Zero.
I loved GR:AW on the 360.
I bought the PC version on Steam about a decade ago. Different game entirely. Incredibly fricking disappointing.
>red white and yellow cords
take me back
2nd gen retro. you can't classify this shit with an nes
>The Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and Sony PlayStation 2 will now be considered "retro".
can't wait for the day Xbox 360 becomes allowed on /vr/
if you had the core system your parents didn't love you
Core didn't even have a hard drive, right? Imagine.
yeah you literally couldn't save games
>18 years = retro
Cite your source
>makes your console lose 7th gen in the most pathetic way possible
Nothing personal, kid
Nintendo mindbroke Microsoft so hard with their toy console.
I had lots of fun with this when I was 10, I dont care what anyone says

Sorry to be the one to inform you anon but after 30 it starts being gay to do this. 22-28 year olds are the cool people, we are now the old people.
>Browsing a vidya forum in your thirties
It's beyond over for you
I'm 40 and have a son and wife and am watching anime. It's not over til you're in the ground and you're here forever
kinect was profitable though
Had sex with my box and now my dick is glowing red...
You don't seem to know what "retro" means.
Retro doesn't mean old.
Retro means something new made purposely to look/sound old.
asiatic moot should probably delete /vr/, since they don't match that definition at all
More divisions just thins out user base. Mods and other parasites think prisons and policing produce perfection. It's entirely the opposite. The less people check and confine themselves the more likely they get out something that counts.
Retro is anything 3 years old or replaced by something better.
Somw things are always good so survive being outdated.
9th gen consoles were born obsolete.
frick off with your reddit spacing womanly posting format
Go back. None of you have anything to say.

>it's retro because it's old
your mom is retro, just lost her attractive
your english is retro, just look how grammar
Nope. Retro is 20 years. You're a couple years off, chief.
How long did it take them to finally let the rest of sixth Gen on /vr/?

why doesn't the 360 feel as old as the snes did in 2005? snes felt ancient in 2005 but I don't feel the same about the 360 now
There's a ton of overlap between 7th and 9th gen consoles with little done to shake it up. Also arguably diminishing returns in graphics.
Diminishing returns. Also the 360 sucked, most of them bricked at release and they bought Rare when it was a hollow shell. Maybe Gears of War and that's it. Imagine giving money to Gates. And put him in charge of your fricking gaming. That's what you get.
