Yeah man, remember how the hardware had a catastrophic overheating fault and the failure rate was over 50% on the first models? Remember how the interviews with engineers came out who worked on the thing and said they knew about it and warned management but they just didn't give a shit? And instead of giving you a new one, microsoft would just give you a "refurb" and it would happen again 2 weeks later? And remember how it took about 4 motherboard revisions and 5 years to fix the fault properly?
Yeah man it was the peak.

The issue is not actually overheating but a fundamental design flaw that effected all GPUs from late 2005 to late 2008. It's the same thing that causes YLOD on PS3s from the same timeframe and is not related to peak temperatures.

I’ve been mass buying all the 360 games I’ve wanted to play but never did over the years. Once the store goes down and there’s no infinitely available digital copies, physical 360 games are going to skyrocket. Any other anons doing the same? Last 2 games I picked up were Full Auto and Otomedius Excellent

Depends on the games. Because the prices probably won't sky rocket for 360 games that can be played on XB1/Series X since they (along with the DLC) can still be bought on those consoles.

the prices have already been going up. I bought blue dragon a few months ago for like $10 at gamestop and now its $60 on ebay. and thats a game thats still available digitally. get in while you still can if you care about owning physical copies of 360 games

Gen 7 was peak Brown/Bloom, so no. On top of the fact RROD plagued these systems. I had 3 of these fricking system frick up on me from 2005-2009. Never once did I have an issue with a console before then. Last one died and MS wanted $100 on top of my yearly renewal of $50 for XBL. I said frick that and become solely dedicated to PC Gaming from that point forward.

That whole gen was a huge letdown after the PS2 / Gamecube / XBOX.

All games were brown and full of BLOOM. Combine that with the shitty early flat tvs and it was just a nightmare. The games would blind you with bloom, while also making you squint your eyes in dark scenes because of the crushed blacks... then an input lag of about 2 sec.

one of the worst consoles of all time with severe design flaws and literally no exclusives worth playing besides halo 3 and that game along with its previous entries casualized fps games into slow as molasses moviegame crap thats designed to be pure fluff and no meat and potatoes. ushered in the horrible age of gaming we have today. glad that microsoft is finally gaining a triple digit iq and abandoning the console market and transitioning fully to pc as they should have decades ago.

After the slim model came out and fixed the hardware issues, the 360 was the least bad console that gen. Still pales in comparison to every generation prior and it's still arguably the worst console gen, but the 360 wasn't without its merits. This was also the era before console ports were commonplace on PC, or if they did come out, they were completely broken, like the Dark Souls port.

It was a leap in graphics but it could have been better if they stuck to 640x480i or 320x240i/p. Widescreen was bad enough but higher res pushed for higher res screens. Basically we got visuals/performance around 6 to 12x worse than we should have gotten. For absolutely nothing in return. Expectations were lowered and we never saw the kind of games that were promised.

Didn't come with windows either, so having a pc as well was a requirement, where the 360 would have had better specs than most pcs for several years.

    TLDR: Resolution increase killed videogames.

      Anonymous

      >240i
Anyway, the true redpill is that 1080i/540p would have saved gen 7, but CRTs died so they went with 720p, which made every game run like shit.

          >implying
240i is not a resolution that has ever existed, and 240p only exists as a sort of nonstandard hack of 480i. 1080i was already being experimented with in many late-gen PS2 titles, and HD CRTs designed with 1080i in mind were being produced before LCDs/Plasmas killed them. Early LCD/Plasma panels that the PS3/360 were targeting were 720p, so the consoles targeted that resolution. 720p is more demanding to render than 1080i.

It sounds like you don't understand the difference between progressive and interlaced signals and are incapable of understanding the point I am trying to make about 1080i or 540p making the games of that generation run better.

Current gen games never "ran good" you moron. Even on the NES there were frame drops and lag all the time. Every game in N64 era was 30fps or less. Resolution > framerate

Average consumer has been stuck on 1080p for 15 years and that's why he became a doomcuck

                Anonymous

A huge amount of 6th gen games were 60fps at 480i, the NES was miles ahead of home computers in scrolling and sprite capabilities and barely ever "lagged" (instead sprites would flicker), and the only slow 16-bit platform was the SNES because Nintendo went full moron with its CPU. 7th gen games ran about as well as 5th gen games in terms of framerate which was a massive step back from gen 6.

                Anonymous

Nobody sits there and counts frames. Doomcucks always say "gen 7 was the last big jump in quality" because that was the last time they upgraded their resolution. The difference between 30fps and 60fps is negligible unless you sit there and count frames like a troony. The difference between 1080p and 4k is massive in comparison, similarly the difference between 480i and 1080p was a tremendous leap

                Anonymous

                >"gen 7 was the last big jump in quality"
Gen 7 was extremely underwhelming at the time, with people calling the Xbox 360 "Xbox 1.5".
                >the difference between 30fps and 60fps is negligible
                You can't be serious.
                >the difference between 1080p and 4k is massive
It's imperciptible unless your screen is above a certain size, most normalgays can't tell a difference (this has been tested extensively).
                >the difference between 480i and 1080p was a tremendous leap
Yes, but barely anything in gen 7 actually ran at 1080p, and the consoles struggled to even do 720p. 1080i on a CRT would have looked better and been less demanding to run than 720p on an LCD, which is what we got.

If you put the same game side-by-side running at 30fps and 60fps you would have to literally be mentally deficient or have some kind of medical issue with your eyes to be unable to tell the difference.

                >If you pass a normalBlack person the controller the chance of him correctly telling you the current framerate is close to zero
Everyone's eyes adjust after a while you Black person, but everyone is capable of telling that 60fps is smoother. There is not a person alive with normally-functioning eyes who would not notice a difference if you showed them something at 30 and then the same thing at 60. You're saying normalgays are incapable of noticing, which is false, they just don't know what they're missing.
