Minthara's Lyre is a QUEST ITEM. The game does NOT tell you this. The game allows you to sell it to merchants that disappear from the game, which is what I did because I thought it was a normal fricking bardic instrument. But NO. It's actually an item you NEED to travel through the Shadowlands for Act 1.5 / 2. If you do not have the Lyre, then the Shadowlands are locked and you can't travel past the area's hazards.
Why? Why the frick didn't the game tell me I needed this bullshit? Their are OTHER quest items I CAN'T sell. They're marked differently from the rest of the items in my inventory and they don't show up when I go to a merchant,

If you kill Minthara the game angles you to the underdark, which comes out at a harper stronghold and gives you an alternate path.
If you don’t, she tells you the importance of it when she hands it over. If you ignore it you can get past the shadow in alternate ways.

casting darkness or fog on your party to block their sight lines will force them to run into all the hazards you just stacked to get to you
you can also get close enough to cast silence on the dude with black hole without actually starting combat

But he keeps hitting on me constantly, every single camp interaction is a come-on, he interrupts me in the middle of walking through combat zones to tell me that I'm the only thing that makes fighting this darkness worth doing, and he even fricking interrupts himself several times during his personal quest to let me know that I'm the only thing making his life worth living. He just DOESN'T STOP. I tell him no and to frick off every time and he just keeps coming on to me. It's no wonder like 30% of players "romanced" Gale because it seems to be impossible NOT to romance him, unless you murder him or spend all your time kicking puppies in front of him.
During the scene where he talks about his cat there's an option to bluntly tell him you're not interested. If you pick that option he never brings it up again
I hate the fact that to get that option without flirting with him you have to tell him to STFU about his cat. Whoever wrote the player's dialogue with him has autism.
I never pick openly hostile replies to the companions, because why would I? The game trains you to not do that by punishing you when you do. But I always tell him no, just not in the most hostile way. He also whined to me when I triggered the lae'zel romance, then I let him know that we were "over" (we were nevr a thing to begin with), and he said I GOT U CLEAR AND LOUD but he keeps hitting on me and delivering "ur my everything" type dialogue constantly anyway.

If your level 5 you'll be fine, there's a bullette and minotaurs that are the biggest danger really (can be easily beaten by just not having your party close to each other.
There's also a beholder that will rape your ass if you aren't prepared or know what a beholder (sorry m8 spectator) can do ahead of time
