Because video games are designed around gameplay, not narratives or cinematography. If you remove the gameplay and interactive elements, what you're left with is a shitty movie with boring non-characters.
There's of similarities and refrences (like the camera angles) but not 1:1. You have to remember doing faithful adaption of things only recently became a thing. Still a good movie.
I'm not the baiting anon, actually curious. The kind of adaptations I can remember were made by Uwe Boll or similar in quality (although Postal is genuinely entertaining for entirely unrelated reasons, of course).

No, it sucked even as an action movie. The violence had no weight, there was no visceral death from the monsters which was especially noticeable with the impaled guy.
Yoi jusf posted one. It's a shame the studio stepped in and made them film all that stuff with the husband because "there are no men in this movie" pretty unnecessary.
silent hill 1 was amazing up til the last 15~ minutes where theres just an exposition monlogue and a bunch of over the top terrible cgi. C- at best.
