The game is based on anime series (probably a parody of Sentai shows), which was fricked up in the West because some japs didn't send the scripts for episodes to localizers. So they decided to make their own show, redubbed it from whatever was on screen and basically made it a huge shitpost. They also mocked Ninja Turtles, hence the samurai and pizza in the name.

Western team redubbing whole anime because of lack of scripts is official legend, it's even mentioned in the theme song.

This is where samurai games peaked. Sequels are good too, but don’t have the grit of the original WotS.

Yup, best samurai or ninja games. Story sucks but the combat is fricking great once you get the hang of it. I still play bb2 once in a while and try and get a one strike kill streak going.
