i think it would have been best if they stook to an artstyle similar to 3 and 4 but what we got in 5 really isnt bad. the only character that actually looks bad in the photorealism artstyle is trish
as for neros design its kind of subjective but i never found his design in 4 to be anything crazy except for the devil bringer (which albeit looks cooler in 5 for the 8 seconds it appears)

Fact is, Capcom was pleased with DmC and the design of Donte came straight from Japan. So it makes sense in DMC5 that Nero would basically be Donte aesthetically but with modern takes / fan service

on the flipside DMC4 sold 3 million copies on its original release with a 1.9 million copy boost with the SE
so maybe it didnt flop but there was an obvious demand for the original series to continue with the reboot franchise to die off

Because reboots suck ass in Donte's case we already had a teen Dante which was DMC3 but Nero's character development actually was good instead of just making a new character and reusing an old characters name
Capcom is not going to make another DmC, don't be delusional. They say that now to be polite because they know it will never happen. Here's why:
The original DmC struggled to reach 1mil in the first year and couldn't do it without discounts. It also took 6 years to reach 2mil. Those sales being that spread out is not profitable.
XBox bought out NT, if XBox cooperates it would be exclusive to xbox and maybe PC. If DmC struggled with 3 consoles, they will struggle even more without the PS3.
NT likely does not want to deal with this fandom again. They antagonized the shit out of us. Most of the core audience of DMC does not like NT because they left a bad taste.
DmC quite frankly was almost the nail in the coffin. Capcom is in the news praising themselves for reviving the franchise. DMC5 has already outsold DmC's lifetime sales in less than half a year (March to June 2019). Also DMC 5 sold 2 million copies in 2 weeks, and that's without discounts. DMC 5 has been a much more profitable venture than DmC ever was. Capcom is not going to risk alienating fans again.
