Seriously, why does GAME FREAK keep re-using the Dark, Fighting, Ghost, Psychic and Fairy-types for every Starter these past few Gens?
These are the only types to not be given to any Starter Pokmon

Dragon resists all other starter types so they won't do it. I think it was intended as the "boss" typing in gen 1 but then they kind of gave up on that concept.

That's why you give the starter supposedly stronger than it Fairy typing to keep the triangle going. Or less generally, it's Fire/Dragon then make Grass/Rock, if Grass/Dragon then Fire/Bug and if Water/Dragon then Grass/Ice.
That’s why you give the other starter a secondary stab to be super effective against the dragon starter. Like how Empoleon got steel typing, so Torterra needed ground to be super effective instead.
They already jumped the shark by making water/steel and water/fairy. Might as well make a water/dragon, they love that typing right now (maybe a megalodon?)

Electric is for the regional Pikachu, Normal is for the Route 1 shitmon. No Pokémon gains Bug by evolving for as I'm aware (and I don't think any first stage starter will have bug since it's weak to fire and would screw the type matchups). IDK about Ice. Dragon resists all starter types.

>it's a late game type, and it wouldn't make sense - you imagine the starters are something that could have just been running around in the wild at the start of the game, unless it's a frigid climate (which puts restrictions on the other 2 starters) it wouldn't work

Dumb take, charizard's flying type already conflicted with the route 1 bird shitmon in the first gen, and talonflame conflicted with delphox in 6. The games aren't restricted anymore, as of gen 9 there are 100 different pokemon you can catch before the first gym, I highly doubt they care if one of those is a bug type that shares a type with a starter.

we're not in gens 1-6 anymore, you can catch ice types early and if you think it'll be OP at the start, just save it for the final stage similar to decidueye
think for longer than 2 minutes next time. the only type that they'd have reservations about is dragon for the reason you mentioned, even though it wouldn't be OP if they gave another starter the fairy dual typing. But the others would be completely fine

Hard to put onto an evolution, so they’d need to be on a first stage which has only happened twice. Bug also screws with the type triangle from the first stage unless it’s on Fire.

Interrupts the GFW type triangle regardless of starter, hence why it’s been limited to Megas. Ofc they can always just balance it with secondary types like Empoleon, but it’s telling that that’s the only time a similar situation happened

Game Freak has pretty much demonstrated for the last 4 (arguably 6) generations that they'll only use secondary types if they have some sort of play into a secondary type triangle, so unless they're willing to get really risky with it and try something like grass/dragon, fire/ice and water/rock, we'll probably never get those three types, let alone any possibility for normal, electric or bug.
