I think she might actually have been right in dynamaxing togekiss considering Garchomp wasn't able to deal non-resisted damage to Lucario and regChomp couldn't beat Lucario even after it was standing on its last legs due to its fight with Togekiss.
TL;DR: Dynamaxing Togekiss was perhaps better than Mega-evolving Garchomp, even if it wasn't, it still is on Cynthia's capabilities as a trainer to choose correctly on the heat of battle. Also, Ash only had one gimmick too

can someone please explain to me how Ash went from worse than E4 level at the end of XY to best trainer in the world by the end of Journeys? like is it explained or rationalized in any way or is it just the writers making him stronger because people were tired of him jobbing?
Eh, Ash was able to give Diantha a run for her money in XY so it makes sense he becomes a Chmapion by the end of SM (even if it was of the weakest league). The jump from Alola Champion to World Champ was too big of a leap though. We should probably have had a series that cover the 9 months between SM and the start of Journeys
Real. I know the anime studio was literally collapsing or something like that but 3-on-3 underwhelming fights (except three [2 6v6, 1 1v2]) with shit-tier animation except the last three, anf iller episodes in between. Horrible way to end the series. (Leon v Ash saves it a bit)

I still think Ash should travel for more time and age a bit to deserve the title of best pokemon trainer of the world.
