Pretty sure the underlying problems are psychological or medical, like

i actually grew up on the same street as the psychology professor who was the main proponent and originator of that argument, Brad Bushman. he also did contracting work for the department of defense, i happen to know, and (fun fact) also invented the word "hangry" to describe increased emotional lability while your blood sugar is low.

mentions. Otherwise every anon that played Vice City etc would be a violent murdering a-hole. That's not a global problem. Add in politics and religion to this test and...

Yes. Every medium affects people's world view. That people refuse to apply this self evident concept that they already recognize with porn and political propaganda to video games is just pure copery

        >Every medium affects people's world view
Yes, but only the dumbest morons would think it's as simple as "violent fiction makes you violent", "occult fiction makes you a satanist" and shit like that.

        Anonymous

True, but most people can still filter it through their own discretion and worldview. It'll take far more than enjoying GTA or Doom to make someone a murderous criminal unless they were already fricked in the head to begin with. Political propoganda is more insidous as it's deliberately trying to manipulate you and make you believe it's narrative is true. Porn can be addictive from nutting to it too much, making your brain depend on it more for a dopamine fix.

      >W-wha... What's even the point?
To prank you all and post it on my YouTube channel.

Anon, independent studios from the 90s are now owned by galactic gigacorporations that insist on "all games must appeal to everyone and thereby appeal to no one" mentality.

Was amusing, at the time. Nobody took it seriously besides moronic "actual" baby boomers or the elderly (silent/greatest generation types). Nowadays it's far more annoying because it's from people who have far more media presence than the religious right.

Religious zealots had less media presence but their censorship was far more oppressive.

That's just talk, the actual content of the game was extremely tame.
Doom became the most controversial game in history when those people had a voice, nowadays it's five bucks on the Nintendy Switch store.

Compare Doom to other games of the era. You weren't alive then, so you don't know. As someone who grew up in that era, nobody paid them any attention at all. They were a joke and they had no real power.
        >but muh chainsaw massacre and violent movies
        >but muh nintendo
That was Nintendo of America which we all know is a piece of shit scam staffed by morons. Nobody even really cared about Doom until Columbine.

They had no power to censor anything besides what Nintendo of America forced. The censorship today is exponentially worse. Exponentially. You're either a fedora tipping atheist and triggered about a boogeyman that has no power over you or a queer who enjoys all this trans and gay representation shit.

          >They had no power to censor anything besides what Nintendo of America forced
Who was NoA catering to with those changes? Do you think the million dollar company was doing extra work just because they unanimously shared the same values? Also games published by other companies on other platforms were censored too, for example Splatterhouse had to drop all the crosses and churches. This wouldn't happen today. Everyone feared backlash from the zealots.
          >censorship today is exponentially worse.
Today characters can smoke, swear, have red blood, religions can be mentioned and portrayed. There's still work to do regarding sexuality (something a certain group of people raised us to abhor) but it's nowhere near as bad as it was in the 90s, where a nude marble statue in Castlevania was considered too indecent.
          >you're either this or that or that or that or that
Make up your mind, I can't be ten strawmen at once.
