Because it takes 60 hours to get there. Most of the time is spent mashing through cutscenes that drag on for an unnecessary amount of time and that are unskippable.
but enough about bw2
Frick you. Both of them have fantastic postgames, and have pretty great main campains. I'm tired of this gen 5 vs 7 narrative this board is trying to pull.
There's no narrative. Gen 5 and 7 gays are both one and the same. They're the only ones who can put up with those obnoxious games.
>I'm tired of the gen 5 vs 7 narrative this board is trying to pull
It's not the board, just a few random discorders faling genwars like always. Nobody else dislikes Alola enough right now to even bother opening threads about it.
BW2 chad here, and the Alola games are the worst pieces of shit in the franchise.
For them to have to outright use false advertisement to get you to buy the same game again shows how lazy those games were.
>false advertising
how? they have more changes than platinum and emerald.
no they fricking don't they are the worst games in the series
you are correct but im sorry chads don't call themselves chads
Bullshit. BW2 starts and you're getting brand new content.
USUM's generous 10 minutes of brand new content for the story happens after you have to push through hours of the worst paced game in the series.
I tried it, pirated of course, and stopped playing right after getting to the second island.
>Bullshit. BW2 starts and you're getting brand new content.
yeah, technically you’re right, the half a dozen forced tutorials are brand new content
>half a dozen forced tutorials
That's an outright lie. But I understand, you're defending shit games that can't go two minutes without shoving a cutscene down your throat.
The best games are still Emerald, Platinum, HGSS, BW2. Go cry in discord, homosexual.
They were a massive improvement over Gen 6 at least
Because the rest of the game is completely linear.
Bit of a fricking struggle to get there
UM is definitely a top half Pokemon game, but replayability is really hurt by the handholding and profusion of cutscenes.
no its fricking garbage
The lack of "Ultra changes" made it hard to play after finishing the original SM
USUM are in a weird spot where from a content standpoint they're superior to SM, but the story changes are minimal and backloaded, and all of them make things worse (though I do like Ultra Necrozma as a Pokemon final boss). So they're better, but they're not the definitive best gen 7 games like other third version style games.
There's also the problem that while I got into SM's story the first time, going through it a second time felt more tedious than anything and USUM did that just a year later. Gen 7 also has the highest density of cutscenes in a Pokemon game which doesn't help either.
All in all I like Gen 7 despite it having some issues (and me preferring gyms over trials), and from a visual standpoint it was a huge jump over 6 on the same system. It'll also likely be the last time that a Pokemon game was at all competitive from a graphical standpoint for the system it was on.
It does look really good, doesn’t it? I just wish that there was ORAS style fly.
I think the Gen VI look has some advantages too. They were still using some tricks they used in gen 5 with unique camera angles and other visual flourishes. 3D for Pokemon was also really novel in the mainline games and the models and attack effects legitimately came off as great. It's kind of crazy to think that the games are still largely piggybacking off of the stuff done back in Gen VI.
But Gen VII was a big jump from that with it's to scale models, trainers properly in battles for the first time in a mainline game, battles that take place in a background where they actually occur and not a generic space, better built landmasses with smooth elevation changes, omnidirectional movement, proper cutscenes, and a handful of other things.
It's too bad it's so railroaded route-wise.
>But Gen VII was a big jump from that with it's to scale models
Anon, I...
To be frank, I got bored before getting to the end of the game.
I had never bought a 3rd Version before, except Yellow, so that's probably why. I like Alola overall, so I'll eventually go back and try these again.
the last true pokemon games imo
no they are the first really bad ones
whatever you say man
i had more fun with them then gen 7 to be honest
it was advertised as a completely different game with tons of story changes then you play it and it's the same thing
A lot of people rushed through SM, told themselves that the games were just railroads of cutscenes because they didn't try to see anything else, and then skipped USUM completely because of the expectation that the game wouldn't be different.
Unironically everyone either played them and praised it on release, or just never saw the post-game at all. Give it a few more years and maybe people will go into replays with open minds and notice all the content the originally skipped.
A lot of people like to pretend they played SM/USUM, never touched any of the prior games, and then got so upset with the criticism of their first games that they vehemently try and claim it's one of the best because they know it'll never be conceivably regarded better than anything from BW2.
Unironically there was a lot of harsh panning of the games on release. For SM it was the performance issues, lack of battle modes, and removal of the National Dex. Then USUM went without fixing any of those things and watered down the story which was probably the only thing base SM excelled at. But give it a few more years and I'm sure the morons defending it will move on to another fad, or things will somehow get even worse than SM/USUM/SWSH and people will start warming up to it like they did to Gen 6 after Gen 7 lowered the bar.
case in point
parroting is an admission of defeat
crying about parroting is an admission of defeat
parroting is an admission of defeat
“ULTRA CHANGES”
It’s 90% the same game except the story is worse. Also the Ultra Wormhole mini game is absolute dogshit
Everyone disagrees with you so shut up
Straight up lying.
>the new minigames are dogshit
See? There’s another one.
i find it really strange that SV is getting praised left and right when it has less content and features than this game
Show one threat with only praise.
"praised left and right" was a huge stretch, i apologize, but i noticed that SV is more well recieved than other 3D games and i can't understand why because it's worse than every other game in every single regard except for LGPE and BDSP
this post is an example of what i'm talking about
https://arch.b4k.co/vp/thread/54979545/#54980233
>SV actually has content
it doesn't even have every pokemon, optional exp share, optional battles animations, or even any battle facilities
>allows you to play the game
what the frick is that supposed to mean?
more content doesn't necessarily mean better
More literally means better moron
SV actually has content and allows you to play the game.
>More literally means better moron
Does it? There is a ton of content added by contests. Why doesn't that put DP over BW?
Because the shit that Gen 7 added is superficial compared to the mountain of good stuff it removed even compared to Gen 6.
Gen 7 is the best of the gens though
That would mean Gen 6 is the peak of the best, which we all know is a far fricking cry from reality.
Remember, XY has more content and allows you to play the game where SM/USUM didn't-- but XY is still miles and miles below Gen 5.
Genn5 is one of the worst gens and this has been agreed online so don't even argue
>troony fanfiction
I'd rather watch endless cutscenes in gen 7 than play gen 6 lol
>Gen 7 is the best of the gens though
No national dex = no buy.
It's shit.
OH NO IT DIDN'T REUSE DEX ENTRIES FROM 2002
Honestly I didn't even notice
no its the absolute worst gen in the series you stupid c**t!
FOXES ARE DOGS
no they're not you stupid c**t!
The 3DS games and SwSh, had horrible pacing. Almost every other route and every town had interruptions.
In SV you only trigger cutscenes by choice. The game let's you do whatever you want.
>Almost every other route and every town had interruptions
sounds like something that would only be a problem if you were speed running and you were skipping everything else
putting that aside, SV is missing so much basic shit like optional battle animations and battle facilities that it is impossible for it to better than any other game in the series
B2W2 was not the same as BW storywise
USUM was not the same as SM storywise
Correct. It was worse where BW2 extended and improved the original narrative.
Correct. It was worse where USUM extended and improved the original narrative.
parroting is an admission of defeat
Mostly discord kalos kids who are jealous of actual good games that people like.
I enjoy all gens but I definitely can tell based on the ones I replayed the least which I don't love.
You have to slog through too much SM to get to it. It's a real shame because when it's not being SM it has some neat stuff. Probably worth pirating if you've never played a Gen 7 title, at the absolute worst.
USUM would be vastly improved if they were another pair of sequels that focused solely on necrozma and the URS.
They shot themselves in the foot after making BW2 a sequel. People rightly called out the games for being lazy shit.
>You have to go through Gen 7 horrible cutscenefest to get to it
>USUM completely butchers SMs plot
ULTRA CHANGES
I liked Sun and Moon but it wasn't a lot of fun playing these games right after playing the originals.
only pokemon game that I bought and never finished. after playing through Sun on release, one time, I couldn't get through this game 2 years later when I finally tried it out. I just couldn't sit through it again, and I say that phrase purposefully because it did feel like I had to sit and watch the game play itself 95% of the time
>S/M
>Lusamine is partially under the influence of an alien creature that pumps people full of neurotoxins, explaining a lot of her insane and erratic behavior
>Ends up with permanent brain damage (since the plot thread of Lillie going to Kanto to try and fix shit is never followed up on in anything)
>US/UM
>Lusamine is in her right mind the entire time and is just a horrible abusive mother of her own volition, and the explanation of her just trying to stop Necrozma doesn't mesh with a lot of the cutscenes they chose to keep.
>THIS is the version that gets off scott free
The Lusamine retconning is an absolute travesty.
It's weird how as a result of how the story is rewritten, Nihilego comes off as much more sinister and malicious than Necrozma, since they pretty much wrote Necrozma to be a victim, while Nihilego was just fricking around.
because they are the worst games in the series
Seething Hoenn/Kalos/Galar troon
You know, for games that are supposedly universally considered bad, there sure does seem to be a trend of low IP counts whenever Alola actually gets a lot of criticism.
I'm sure it's just a coincidence though, like how the "many" people who criticize it also conveniently forget megas existed and claim Z-moves were the first gimmick.
Just a bunch of weird coincidences.
Because they're shit games with no postgame.
What postgame could you possibly be talking about? The recycled Battle Tower that it had for the 4th time in a row? The shitty minigame to get legendaries in the laziest way possible?
The post game is weak compared to other similar games.
Ultra Space is just copy pasted Hoopa Rings from ORAS.
Battle Agency is Batte Factory but worse because you have to play in the Festival mode that almost everyone hated.
Battle Tree is just the Battle Tower with muh cameos and no Triple Battles. Also for SOME reason there’s NO characters from Johto at all? (You see Red, Wally, Cynthia, Grimsley, and Sycamore’s student Sina/Dexio, like they just skipped Johto completely).
Black/White 2 was big expansion over a time skip, with whole new towns, routes or old locations being remapped like Ns ruined castle or Clays mining business. It was the perfect model for expanding future games.
Top 5 isnt really that impressive when the first 3 Gens dont have any, Emerald has ok one, DP doesnt have any, Platinum has ok one, BW doesnt have any, BW2 has ok one, Gen 6 has ok one, SM doesnt have any and Gens 8 and 9 have ones behind a paywall.
It ruined the excellent story of the original sun/moon.
>excellent
Grow up.
