In Japan the VAs go on lengthy promotional tours and are treated rather well. Not so much in the West unless your voice gets super popular ala Nathan Drake guy or Troy Baker.
Japanese VA is a more "professional" field than in the west. They take their work pretty seriously. Western VA is a joke, the fact that Ada Wong can sound like that in the remake shows that its a joke.
