It is. There's really nothing special about any of that stuff in the pic rel. Basic deferred rendering lighting, some volumetric distance fogging + god rays, and a-OK models with mostly just basic color maps textures.
Godot can do way more than that; it even got ray-traced GI long before Unity.
Not a game developer so I don't care. You can't come up with something that will make me care either, they either have to deal with it or switch to a new engine. If they raise the price of the game then I'll just wait for a sale or pirate it. I don't care if EGS has less of a cut either, it's bleeding money for its investors and it's getting shut down soon anyway. So if it's not DRM free or on Steam then I just won't buy it.
Game devs are there to please their consumers, not have us suck their dicks. They're consumers to the game engine or platform so it's their problem, not mine.
>tons of devs changed engines, informed that they'll be taking down their older games from e-shops, and generally stated that this shit's not cool >"lol y no one care?? :^)"
You gays don't even follow the news.
Well, I've already restarted development in Godot, and even though I'm still figuring it out, it's a lot more intuitive to use a few ways. I don't ever plan on going back, frick John Ravioli.
they ruined their reputation permanently
there's no going back from that
they were willing to frick over devs retroactively so there's no reason to trust them anymore
This dev drama farmer made comparisons of prices on different earning stages and interesting enough, unity charges more for small scale games and less for bigger ones, in comparisons to unreal which is opposite of that. I thought unity is an indie engine and I really is a full triple a one...
They had to walk back the policy and a huge amount of devs are walking away from unity altogether, plus new devs are discouraged from touching unity at all. It's over for them.
>you all already stopped caring
Us? The collection a basket weaving enthusiasts, who don't develop games? It doesn't matter what we think or if we give it attention. What matters is whether or not it's used for future game development.
I hope the Unity cult dies. I'm so sick of them spouting how their engine has "the most documentation and tutorials" or some crap. Not even true. Every engine has documentation. And all you really need is one good tutorial. I guess what Unity users really mean is that there is some projects and code posted on Unity forums that they can directly steal. And crap they can download from the asset library. These devs will never amount to anything. Unity is such a pile of dogshit.
What more is there to be said? Game devs are already moving new projects to other engines and wrapping up old projects but with new pricing in case they get rugpulled again. Unity killed itself, that's all anyone really needs to know.
>you all already stopped caring
I mean yeah, kind of, I just restarted and Godot and moved on with my life, I'm not going to seethe about it for the rest of my life.
>trust broken: devs (including me) moved to other engines >unity rep went from lol shitty games to shitty company overall >decent monetary support to competitors (like godot) from other devs >hur durr they got awaiy with it
uh sure
I switched to godot.
Many will use unity to finish their current projects and switch before the changes hit. People stopped making a huge fuss because unity walked back changes that would affect literally everyone. Unity still shattered everyone's trust in them and are failing financially as a company so it's still a sinking ship.
I was learning unity while working on a 2d game and found out that Unity currently can't put transparency on a layered sprite without each layer overlapping each other as they fade in and out, breaking the illusion that it's one whole sprite. This is something that just about every other engine can do, even Godot.
I was hoping that they'd fix it in an update, but now that 2023 LTE is gonna ahe the install fee shenanigans, no thanks.
not my fricking problem, devs will have to do something about it or change their engine for their mobile shovelware, I don't give a singular shit
its a message to unity they can do the same
Weekend outrage mob blows their load and runs back home the second their tummy starts to rumble. What else is new?.
Who cares? In end unity shovelware will still exist because 99 percent of devs are homosexuals
Everyone stopped caring,
because everyone moved to Godot or Unreal.
2D poorgays can instead use Gdevelop.
Godot is for 2D
Nah. It's a 3D engine, that just can do some 2D.
there's no way that picrel is made from godot
It is. There's really nothing special about any of that stuff in the pic rel. Basic deferred rendering lighting, some volumetric distance fogging + god rays, and a-OK models with mostly just basic color maps textures.

I'm using pico8 and sdl to make games. I'll sip my toes in godot if I ever do 3d but I am enjoying the restrictiveness and minimalism of pico8.
i switched to godot
Israel always wins

it was never my problem to care about
internet outrage culture has become awful. the peaks of rage are astronomical but the longevity and productivity are nonexistent.
I only cared until Unity backed out of the per install fee so we couldn't reenact actual shitposts in real life
>tons of devs changed engines, informed that they'll be taking down their older games from e-shops, and generally stated that this shit's not cool
>"lol y no one care?? :^)"
You gays don't even follow the news.
write your own fricking engine you smelly pahjeet
- john carmak
what game is this
problem vivisector 2
Just use user input functions in a while loop and you have a game engine bro
Well, I've already restarted development in Godot, and even though I'm still figuring it out, it's a lot more intuitive to use a few ways. I don't ever plan on going back, frick John Ravioli.
I stopped caring because I left to Unreal.
I'm a Gamemaker chad anyways with a legacy account.
Heh, n-n-nothin' personel.
jokes on you i planned to use godot from the start
they ruined their reputation permanently
there's no going back from that
they were willing to frick over devs retroactively so there's no reason to trust them anymore
Because nobody carfes about unity anymore and I'm still learning how to use godot.

I just remember somebody made JSRF in Unity and they couldn't get the grinding right. That is the main concept of the game why do that?
What more is there to be said? Game devs are already moving new projects to other engines and wrapping up old projects but with new pricing in case they get rugpulled again. Unity killed itself, that's all anyone really needs to know.
I’m not a game dev. I don’t have to care or do anything.

They said sorry and reverted it
What more do you want?
Total Unity death.
I want shlomo dovrat tarred and feathered
I switched to godot.

I never cared, it's their product, though I think it's hilarious how they thought it was a good idea, like a cartoon villain

But I never used it and I dont play any unity games because they are all trash
It never mattered to me in the first place because Im not a devBlack person
They won
I never cared to begin with
I never gave a frick about enginecucks.
>OH NO, THE DEVELOPERS' PENNIES
ya, everyone should have stopped caring instantly
I never used unity for my development to begin with. Their CEO has been a moron for a long time this was just the most recent disaster.
