Crash 4 is a pain in the ass if you want to 100% complete the game. If you don't, it is just an average platformer with tons of rehash. And both the art direction and tone got fricked up.

They are different. Crash, Spyro, Croc, Rayman, Banjo (and the list goes on) where created because at that time platformers with cereal mascots were selling like hotcakes. Now people want games with realistic characters and physics.
Mario is Nintendo's old icon, not a mascot created to sell a new game because it's the new trend to follow.

Everything about this image is wrong. Crash isn't supposed to be serious at all. Even the most "serious" lore focused crash (Twinsanity) has Cortex getting his nuts grinded down into nothing and him being used as a hammer.
The second these fricking chimps at TFB made Crash 4's story be about a N.Tropy that killed Crash is when they needed to get the rope

Kart racers are a console thing. Spending money to make a PC port wouldn't be worth it when it'd probably go unnoticed like every other kart racer on Steam and sell next to no copies.

I think it was foolish to call it 'Crash 4' to replace Wrath of Cortex becauseit draws unnecessary comparison. WoC despite flaws did launch at the ideal time just before 3D platformers stopped being the dominant genre. Even if Crash 4 didnt completely crater, claiming to replace WoC and then failing to match its sales would always look bad.
