Basically they seem to only be concerned with keeping things roughly on the same track. For example, they don't intervene with Cloud's whole extra escapade with Jessie, Biggs and Wedge, but they do intervene to try and kill them off later. So basically it seems to be that extra stuff is fine but stuff that happened in the original not happening is a big no-no.

There is canonically a Cetra machine that showed you images from the past and there is an entity that is literally called the "time guardian" and guess what, both were in the OG. >Whenever Sephiroth isn't on screen the other characters should be asking, "Where's Sephiroth?"
That's exactly what happens in the OG, though most of the time they DO know where he is and specifically point it out. Pretty much every time you leave an area during the OG parts covered by Rebirth you usually got some hint from someone that a "man in dark cape was moving in the direction of X", but often without prompting. Those characters just randomly told you in OG, so in Rebirth either the same will happen, or you'll get a more natural conversation of Cloud asking whether they have seen someone suspicious (other than themselves) and then get directions.

Why do the Whispers let the party fight Jenova so early and allow Sephiroth to bug Cloud 24/7 despite not showing his face in Midgar once in the original?
Basically they seem to only be concerned with keeping things roughly on the same track. For example, they don't intervene with Cloud's whole extra escapade with Jessie, Biggs and Wedge, but they do intervene to try and kill them off later. So basically it seems to be that extra stuff is fine but stuff that happened in the original not happening is a big no-no.

There is canonically a Cetra machine that showed you images from the past and there is an entity that is literally called the "time guardian" and guess what, both were in the OG.

That's exactly what happens in the OG, though most of the time they DO know where he is and specifically point it out. Pretty much every time you leave an area during the OG parts covered by Rebirth you usually got some hint from someone that a "man in dark cape was moving in the direction of X", but often without prompting. Those characters just randomly told you in OG, so in Rebirth either the same will happen, or you'll get a more natural conversation of Cloud asking whether they have seen someone suspicious (other than themselves) and then get directions.

I really liked that short time he was sympathetic, like cloud ("cloud") bothering him about being a war hero when you can imagine for sephiroth it was being a child soldier killing for a corporation he gave no shit about and which he knew was killing the planet. They found a way to adapt the old ATB system into an action combat system while making every character feel distinct with their own playstyle.
The gameplay is already good, and it can still be improved. Gameplay wise, it's not really the problem by fans more than the story itself.
I didn't enjoy the gameplay at all. I found it tedious and unenguagung. I didn't even make it to the dogshit story parts because I had 0 motivation to continue playing beyond the evil house fight.
