You could just not use the internet. Every day I'm more and more tempted to just go offline.
There's nothing good online anymore.
I work from home since I started working at all, even before covid. I quite literally cannot not use the Internet. Being wordly aware sort of helps with the job, too.
Most of my close contacts are purely online as well, there isn't much to do.
That said, I did take quite a long brake from here for a number of years, but for some reason it's hard to do this right now and I've got even less going on outside here than I did back then.
I use the internet for work too. Then I stop using it. I highly recommend getting offline, it made me realise how much time I was wasting, when I could be doing literally anything else that I actually enjoy.
I played video games all weekend, didn't log into the net once, felt much more productive, funnily enough.
Oh, I do agree with that sense. Reading helps a lot. Sadly, my work still takes a lot of time, so most hours are still spent on here.
That said, playing older games on a chinese handheld in bed or reading books on a tablet has lately been a very healing experience. Wish I did meditation or more creative stuff as well.

Mine does too. You don't have to use Ganker while you're at work.
The boundaries between work or non-work time are very fuzzy for me, and I also must be present for a lot of hours of the day, so I still sit here anyway.
That said, I could use that time to cram in more vidya or read something (even though I hate reading on PC), but it is difficult to check out mentally, as I need to constantly monitor a billion workchats as well and I am afraid of letting my awareness slip. I should try harder to disconnect when I don't have active tasks.

Don't really get the space thing. Lots of women are into space. They're probably not autistic enough for some of the super autistic management sort of games, but space as a setting for less autistic gameplay, there's absolutely a female audience.
I've also met a fair share of women into Godzilla, actually out of everybody I know the one most into Godzilla vidya is a woman.
I said they won't get it, not that they can't play it, as a matter of fact they absolutely do but for different reasons.
While they do it for short term fun and because X is popular we do it because we seek a deeper meaning of things, I don't know why but going fast on a race car seems appealing to me without racing games or real racing being something I enjoy, there's just something to it that I can't put to words, almost as if I was made to be there.
