Think of the game you considered your favorite 15 years ago.
Are you pleased with how the franchise has turned out since then?

fifteen years ago i was five
Surely you had a favorite game back then, no?
Yeah I liked Pokemon Diamond. I stopped playing the franchise after X and Y but the remakes look interesting.
not that anon, but for me it was crash bandicoot
Grim
>Ragnarok Online
Hell no, not pleased at all. With that being said I'm glad I don't play MMOs anymore, regardless of the state of the genre.
15 years is a bit much, is this post for people who have families or some shit
>Diablo 2 still
Guess I can be glad it spawned PoE
15 years ago I was 14 and my favorite games at the time were Psychonauts, Resident Evil 4 and Kingdom Hearts 2
>Psychonauts
Replayed it again before 2 came out and still loved it as much as I did back then. Haven't finished 2 yet but I'm having a ton of fun with the game. Still can't believe we got it.
>Resident Evil
Not as big into RE as I used to be these days. I've got a ton of issues with the series as a whole and after 7 and 8 being pretty shitty, I'm not really expecting much anymore.
>Kingdom Hearts
It got incredibly annoying keeping up with all the games and dumb stories over the years. I couldn't even finish 3 because I just stopped giving a shit. I think the series got way too big for its own good and the community is an absolute cringefest. Seeing Sora in Smash is really cool and I'll always enjoy 1 and 2 but I'm done with the series.
>Resident Evil
...eeeehhhh. 7 and Remake 2 were bretty good, RE3make was dogshit and RE8 was okay.
I'm not even going to bother commenting on the many attempts at multiplayer in the last few years, they should just make another Outbreak already.
Couldn't really care about the RE4make coming up since RE4 is still fine, CV could do with one first.
>mass effect 1
You tell me
>summon night swordcraft story
Frick no, shit died after the 3rd game and there has been nothing like it since.
15
15 years ago I was only 11. Honestly makes me feel young, which is a nice because usually I feel old.
Favorite Game = Pokemon Gold. Pokemon is bad compared to what it was but part of the issue is that it's for new generations of kids and i'm an adult so I don't really judge the series negativley.
Well I would have been 11 or 12 fifteen years ago. Probably MGS3 or DMC3. Both series I am mostly happy about. Especially DMC 5. God it felt like I was finally getting something I wanted since middle school/early highschool. It hit all the notes I wanted.
MGSV had neat gameplay at least. Shame about the story and mostly mute snake though.
>Battlefield 1942
lol
lmao
>Castlevania
Frick Netflix. Frick Warren Ellis.
All my favorite franchises are literally dead(deus ex,dead space,Konami games)with exception of RE wich is 50/50 love the FPS games hate the nu-REmakes.
Maybe i pirate the dead space Remake only because of Gunner Wright is voicing Isaac again.
Okamiden came out and ruined it.
>Maplestory
MS2 was a pure disaster piece of shit.
But on the other hand MS1 is still extremely popular and gets tons of new content and has many private servers.
Not bad.
15 years ago I was 8 favorite franchise final fantasy.
In one hand ff15 was really disappointing but 14 has become a top tier mmo and 16 looks to be amazing.
I miss the turn based combat though (I got on in the psx era) square seems obsessed with “modernizing” a system that doesn’t need to be modernized. Look at persona 5. That game was massive and it had a classic turned based combat system. You could give every game since ffx that games combat system and it would be improved 10 fold in my opinion.
Operation Flashpoint became ArmA, so I guess it's going fine. Doesn't seem like ArmA 4 is ever going to be real, though. No idea what Bohemia have been doing this whole time.
2006? For me that was probably RE4. To this day the only other RE game I've played was revelations so I don't have much of an opinion there.
>Return to Castle Wolfenstein
It has released the same game for three fricking console generations.
I was 3 bros
But honestly, my favorite games when I was a little kid were probably Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal and God of War 1/2 (but RaC and GoW 2 didn't come out until I was in elementary school).
If I asked my dad what games I was playing the most when I was a baby/toddler he'd probably say "GTA" (and by that, he'd be specifically referring to GTA 3; he likes to be vague like that) because I'd just be playing whatever he was playing at the time. Although I remember frick-all about GTA 3 besides a little bit of the overworld, being 3 and all.
I don't have any nostalgia for the new RaC's, and I'm not that into platformers anymore; and God of War seems like it's lost it's roots (at least to me) although they can still pull in an audience (albeit a different audience) so whatever, good for them I guess. GTA's doing fine, although there hasn't been a new GTA game since 2013, so that doesn't mean much. I liked 4 the most; which confesses in itself that I don't think we've been improving since 4, but 5 is charming in it's own way (just in a way that doesn't hold a light to what made 4 charming).
Nevermind, my math is bad; We're talking about 2006, Up Your Arsenal came out in 2004, GOW 1 in 2005, GOW 2 in 2007. Up Your Arsenal didn't come out when I was in elementary school.
>Armored Core
it's dead
>Pokemon
...
>Sonic
...
>World of Warcraft
... let's not talk about it...
>Total War series
>Elder Scrolls
>Command and Conquer
>Dawn of War
Fricking kek
And let's not even fricking look at Evil Genius, Empire Earth or Fire Emblem.
>Rome Total War 2004
>Winter Assault 2004
>Oblivion 2006
>Evil Genius 2004
>Empire Earth 2 2005
>Fire Emblem Blazing Blade 2003
>Rise of Legends 2003
>Age of mythology 2002
>Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis 2001
>Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2003
>Company of Heroes 2006
>Star Wars Empire at War 2006
Early 2000's was a golden era
It's dead
I was six
It was much later when I got into gaming
And I think I only played simple Detective Gadget or Power Rangers(can't remember which maybe both?) licensed platformer games
I have no idea where "franchise" went, and don't care
>guild wars
i was 4 15 years ago so i wasnt really playing anything except maybe melee and metroid prime on my gamecube but i don't care about either really
still doesn't change the fact that most things i used to love are now going to shit lol
There is no franchise, it's a one-off game.
>Ace Combat Zero
Feeling fine.
No
>Pokemon Emerald
No
Yoshi's Island
Fricking hell no lmao
Story, Woolly World and Crafted World were OK but that's about it. New Island was an outright travesty, call me a homosexual if you must but seeing that final boss fight actually brought me to tears from how fricking SHIT it was and how much it missed the mark of what they were trying to ape from the original
my favorite games when I was 10 were Sonic Heroes and Ape Escape 3. the former was a terrible game that i only liked because i was stupid kid and the series has been terrible since shifting to 3D so i'm not too hurt by that. Ape Escape being dead and buried hurts alot though, its still my favorite Sony IP and 3 is my 2nd favorite platformer ever (Mario Odyssey being my #1), that series deserves so much better.
>Pokémon
Take a guess.
Warcraft 3
>WoW
>the remaster
>WoW expansions
I honestly dread Warcraft 4.
