Can you ask her why a Japanese store would do this? Aren't they losing quite a bit of money? They're giving out a 20% discount essentially. Maybe because in Japan you can't return shit usually after you buy it?
She wouldn't know, she knows jack shit about these things. >Aren't they losing quite a bit of money?
Definitely, maybe they are desperately trying to compete with bigger stores (Yodobashi, Bic Camera, etc).
We want lots of people to make reservations, so if you make a reservation, you will receive a discount off the list price.
If you pre-order, you'll get a discount from the regular price!

$90 up here in canuckistan
add in an HST province and you're looking at over one hundred maple dollars for a new video game
and they wonder why piracy is on the rise :^)
Yeah, that put the dampers on a bit. But then again, I've pirated all their games and only ever got them as GOTYs outside of the ones I had on 360. I mean I remember downloading Hearthfire before the US timezone kicked in and it broke their servers, lol. But I don't do that shit any more. I have other shit to pay for.
Only if you buy from EB or PS store. Seriously I don't understand how JB can offer a game for 80-90 and then fricking Sony have it listed 20-30 for a Digital Copy.
Yeah it's crazy to me that the specilty store has higher prices than the more general store.
doesn't exactly help since I doubt there's a PC physical though
basically, video games have a really shitty profit return, so when thats your main product, you have to keep the price above that margin. there were occasions in the past where you could buy a new release game from Big W, and trade it in at EB for more than you paid.

So you use lower price videogames to bring people in hopes they buy something else essentially?
If that PC version preorder does exist I might do that, I was thinking I would just play on gamepass but I could see possible issues with mod compatibility, I am given to understand the Skyrim situation isn't quite as bad as it used to be but there might still be some problems i'm not sure. Besides this is a game I'll keep coming back to game pass might end one day or become expensive enough I don't bother, may as well buy it now because I really can't guarantee save compatibility either

It's called the loss leader approach, and plenty of stores do it to drive up foot traffic, like Costco with its $5 dollar rotisserie chickens and cheap food court that has prices mostly unchanged since the early 2000's. You can buy a foot long polish hotdog and large soda meal for $1.50, it and bulk purchases of Ramen got me through some tough times when my car broke down and drained all my money to fix during college.
Only if you buy from EB or PS store. Seriously I don't understand how JB can offer a game for 80-90 and then fricking Sony have it listed 20-30 for a Digital Copy.

lol. This makes me wonder. If we didn't get the R stickers during that Mortal Kombat debacle, does that mean Starfield would be banned? This place, man. Too many women in charge.
Yeah it's fricked it doesn't match the exchange rate at all
although it's actually not quite as fricked as it seems because prices in america are given pre GST while here it's included in the price, so we are paying 10 dollars more not 20
THAT'S BECAUSE YOUR MONEY IS LESS WORTH THAN DOLLAR
Every thread about prices there is always an Australian or a Canadian complaining. Do you think Japanese people say >you think 70 dollars is too much? We have to play 7000 yen! 100 times more
>board is called "Video games" >People post about video games >moronic Anon can't figure out why people post about video games

Can you ask her why a Japanese store would do this? Aren't they losing quite a bit of money? They're giving out a 20% discount essentially. Maybe because in Japan you can't return shit usually after you buy it?
its a small store and they dont want to hold the bag on the game if nobody wants it
so they sell it to recoup their investment ASAP before interest wains even further
Well there was a brief period last month where Amazon Japan was showing hard numbers on games sold instead of the usual points and rankings, and apparently FF16 was selling 1,000 preorders a week while TotK was selling 20,000 preorders a week.
>Maybe because in Japan you can't return shit usually after you buy it?
what the frick are you talking about it's easy as shit to return things here.

Wow, so hard to understand.
It's the same reason FF12 had Vaan forced in it, because Japan REQUIRES a kpop homosexual protagonist to sell well, even if it makes the westerners angry.
but clive is a homosexual too and 12 flop in japan is almost like abandoning what makes your series unique to appeal to north americans is always a bad idea.
>but clive is a homosexual too
Would you expect to see Adult or Teen Clive in a jpop/kpop band with pink lipgloss and fishnet fingerless gloves doing dance moves wile also making kissy faces at the camera? No, right? But you can EASILY see Cloud, Tidus, Vaan, the entire cast of FF15, etc. bouncing around singing about daiskee chinchin or some shit.
Ganker anon here, 1000x0 isn't really 0 because 0 isnt real, it's actually 0.0000000000~1 therefore 1000x0 is really 1, but due to the hillbert hotel paradox it's really 12, but also 8

It was probably an epileptic seizure from all the flashes of light on the screen.
The problem with this game, in all honesty, is that it's way too easy. I did beat Benedicta without getting hit and got the decoration. I think there is some challenge to that, but if you play the game normally, I just don't see how you die. Limit break charges up way too fricking fast and it makes you resistant to flinching and heals you each time you attack.
No. I did it with all 3 Eikons and obviously removed all the timely shit. With just phoenix, it's also doable. You just gotta get used to timing heat wave. It staggers her so fast
If you play normally, just phoenix is easy because I'm sure you'll have limit break by this point. My point was that limit break is busted because it charges way too fast and gives you lifesteal. If you're going for a no damage run with just phoenix, it's as I said. You just gotta learn the heat wave timing. Maybe she's also different in the final build

Can you ask her why a Japanese store would do this? Aren't they losing quite a bit of money? They're giving out a 20% discount essentially. Maybe because in Japan you can't return shit usually after you buy it?
Loss leader approach. Basically take a loss on something to secure a sale and maybe even get them to look around and buy other stuff.
its a small store and they dont want to hold the bag on the game if nobody wants it
so they sell it to recoup their investment ASAP before interest wains even further
So I guess FF16 not doing so well in Japan? Otherwise they wouldn't need to do discounts
Well there was a brief period last month where Amazon Japan was showing hard numbers on games sold instead of the usual points and rankings, and apparently FF16 was selling 1,000 preorders a week while TotK was selling 20,000 preorders a week.

if you are gonna play it day 1 anyway, why not?
brick and mortar has to compete with digital and amazon
but yes its probably not flying off the shelves
you have to remember 2000 yen = $14
the game is 9,900 yen = $70~

Brick and mortar stores do this all the time. You get a nice little discount and also support your local businesses. Win/win
they do it cause they have to
they dont make 30% like steam does
gamestop hardly makes like 5 bucks of each new title or some shit
>make a game that appeals to westerners
>bugs don't buy it
Wow, so hard to understand.
It's the same reason FF12 had Vaan forced in it, because Japan REQUIRES a kpop homosexual protagonist to sell well, even if it makes the westerners angry.
the only issue with the game is being a PS5 exclusive
but clive is a homosexual too and 12 flop in japan is almost like abandoning what makes your series unique to appeal to north americans is always a bad idea.

NTA, but FFXV was mocked for being Host(Call boys) game.
So being pretty boy doesn't guarantee success unless you were woman
The demo probably already fixed that and the pre-orders were multiplied by 1000.
But 1000x0 is still 0
Ganker anon here, 1000x0 isn't really 0 because 0 isnt real, it's actually 0.0000000000~1 therefore 1000x0 is really 1, but due to the hillbert hotel paradox it's really 12, but also 8
