I did like that moment in the game. One of the few scenes where it shows that they actually tried to give her a personality. I really think they just ran out of time to give her a proper development in the later parts of the game. SwSh's story was obviously very rushed.

It's funny how Marnie seems to be the only one who gets shit for this reason, when there are so many characters that are less than her.
It's because Marnie had a lot of buildup in the game, which made people think she would be relevant to the story or have character development, but that never happened. It was very disappointing.

Not really though. Lillie had character development, she got to confront her mom and wanted to become a trainer. Marnie... I dunno, she was kinda there and maybe will become a gym leader? It's just nothing, there is no development. But the game makes it seem like she's important, so it's disappointing when that turned out to be a farce.
