Eh, I didn't like X at all. With no nostalgia with any of the games, I have to say playing X after the PS1 trilogy was like being kicked in the balls after sex.

Square Enix has always been graphics prostitutes since PS1 and on. They saw what it did for them in the PS1 era and never let go.
Yes, the Dragon Ball teleporting around and stabbing the enemy 1000x only for the enemy then stand up and get jugged more than a professional Tekken player again is definitely more realistic than turn based combat with realistic models.

FF7 was the last good FF. I will not elaborate further.
FF7 Remake is not a remake, it is a completely different game. The story is very different, the gameplay is very different, the art direction is different, only the names of characters and general sense of vagueness remains. Every promo material ommited the fact that it is a drastically changed story, and instead showed only what was similar to the original. That alone shows that they purposefully lied.
If FF7R was a standalone game it would be considered an unfinished, confusing mess full of fetch quests

I still have no idea what the frick happened. Was it because the movie put them to ruin and Squaresoft had to merge with Enix to keep the assets and survive? FFX was great, X-2 was okay. XII was a very, very flawed game but I still finished it. It was the first one that came straight from SE, X was just Project 17 transformed to mainline FF, still fully developed by the old Squaresoft. XIII is the worst game I have ever played. XIV and XV are first games in the franchise I completely skipped, didn't get 7R and I don't plan to play XVI either.
What really went wrong? I used to be hyped for every new FF. I was reading magazines and after incredible VIII came great IX, and incredible X. It was one great game after another. Parasite Eve was also fantastic. But now SE is like Bethesda. I see the logo and it's like seal of disapproval.
They stopped making games their original fans to chase the big money of graphics and action games.
