I wouldnt say it was underrated Anon, it reviewed highly and was in most PC gamers collections at the time despite the high entry requirements.

Just one track, Botpack #10, where the drum beat and bass line is ripped directly from Spybreak. And this was intentional - boys at Epic/DE were huge fans of The Matrix, one of the maps DM-Morpheus, where a song called Save Me plays is a reference to the movie too. Other than that - I don't know where's the plagiarism in this soundtrack.

I feel like this was one of the most fun games of the era and it goes a little bit underrated today in my opinion.
Given it's inevitable decline in popularity it's a lot less fun.

I don't know, I replayed it recently, and it is fun, but hardly an essential classic. Good game, but doesn't do anything amazing.
It was a classic at the time, fun changes after being exposed to literal decades of alternatives and 'upgrades'

A number of things happened to the Unreal series in general that have made people just want to move on and forget about it. And I'm not even talking about this.
It's unreal how the multiplayer only games mogged the single player games
I'm glad that people are waking up to just how mediocre Unreal 1 is. It has impeccable atmosphere and a very enjoyable first few hours but its seriously fricking flawed and tedious.

Unreal Multiplayer is much more fun than Unreal Tournament Single Player.

Unreal 2 doesn't deserve its bad rap. It only really has two things wrong with it:
The gut punch ending, and the fact that it's called Unreal when it has almost nothing tying it to the the previous games.
Remove those problems and it'd be a classic.
I enjoyed it on release for the Xbox. Fine romp for the time, plan on playing it again soon.

Ancient-Egypt-Sci-Fi will never not rule. Always loved that descending pizzicato. Also, Noxion-16 was a killer map. Any map with several levels you can drop down to is infinite fun for CTF matches. Trackers ruled, and things like the demoscene were what made the internet great back in the day. It's unironically over.

Which wasn't initially meant to be a part of the soundtrack, Skaven wrote this piece for a demoscene contest, but since he couldn't participate due to sickness he had to skip that one. Also funny how two songs composed by Finnish dudes in the game are sort of industrial metal-esque tracks as compared to general electronica by Alexander Brandon and Michiel Van Den Bos.

The game is perfect to me, all aspects of development honed to a fine point. Music, sound, look, voices.

I understand what you are trying to do here but cs, fps and quake were pretty much the same genre/kind of game so yeah they get compared with each other. super mario 64 was impressive especially since it was the first 3d plattformer. dunno about virtua fighter, you probably should have wrote street fighter 2 or something similiar. I don't consider 3d fighting games to be real fighting games. They are in the same shit league as mortal kombat, smash or any other "fun party"-game.
