WRONG
Wrong Bravely
Bravely 2 is an active spit in the face for 15+ hours, before it shifts gears and starts shitting in your mouth. Number 1 had the loops going on to long, but at least I enjoyed the gameplay
I liked it
The only thing I like was the music, a course correction from second.
I can't stand the irish whistle/flute instrument they use in 90% of the tracks. It's awful and sounds like music from a 2000's era romance movie.
2 feels like it changes shit just for the sake of change, nothing about it feels better than the first one or 2nd
it was as though the were trying to subvert itself as a series by playing it so straight that everything was painfully predictable and the villain's motivation barely even existed
The hate for Bravely default 2 is completely manufactured. There is nothing wrong with it besides being a bit rushed near the end.
my only real issue with it is that the final boss is the least intimidating jrpg ever made
>Bravely default 2
First game and second are only BD games. BD2 is just using the name it's something different and not for original fans.
>The hate for Bravely default 2 is completely manufactured.
What in the absolute frick does that even mean? I didn't go into the game hoping to hate it, I was desperate for more and coped as I slogged through it before stopping near the end and asking myself if I was even having fun to begin with
>characters are somehow flatter than previous entries
>jobs are extremely watered down from previous entries to the point multiple skill slots on magic jobs are just wasted on learning a single spell
>Edna somehow has less motivation than Ouroboros or Providence
>instead of being able to adjust encounter rate, enemies can run towards/away from you, making it obnoxious to deal with either way
>the bullshit counter system that triggers whenever the frick it feels like it and just goes off in response to you having a turn by the end of the game
>the most engaging strategy for dealing with the game is just using Phantom/Salve-maker and keeping bosses from having turns
It's shit.
>manufactured
By people who played it and didn't like it.
Japanese release only.
Not Bravely Default it's western slop. Frick this game worst thing happened to series.
Bravely Second mogs it in just about every way other than music and MAYBE having a less irreverent tone.
HELL no.
>having a less irreverent tone.
when they killed the nekomancer child and made cat puns about it I dropped it
whats wrong with that?
I wasn't able to take them seriously when they lamented the bad they had to do to be heroes
she was still twitching and they couldn't hold back the jokes
I'm sorry the game didn't catch your interest.
I'm playing through it right now and Ringabel hasn't shown up yet so its worse so far
tummy
jrpggays be like
>throw a menu on screen, put some anime girls around
>fricking masterpiece
You forgot good ost and gameplay. Still leagues better than western slop with ugly oldhags and gays with pretty much no gameplay.
>gameplay
>>>>>>>>>
das rite
I thought it was jutting out breasts from the thumbnail
it drags on for so long before the cooler story loop stuff starts happening
>Cooler story loop stuff starts happening
This is actually when the game flops btw. How do you expect to make a player do the same thing 4 times in a row with nearly the same outcomes except for different text lines and audio to let you know they're doing 1 thing different in each timeline until they ran out of things to write on the 4th travel where nearly every line is copy pasted from the 3rd. Biggest slog ever.
I don't understand why Loop 5 is the true ending.
>figure out Airy is lying, trick her into a corner and move to fix your mistakes
>bad ending
>figure out everything, keep doing it anyway lol
>good ending
It's because the party defaulted for four loops before braving.
It's dumb.
holy shit
that is so fricking stupid
I love this game
Daaamn. The game has now shifted at least 2 places up in my certified kino game list.
This is something I never understood
>yeah we know who the bad guy is
>don‘t be sad edea, that person will show themselves just a little bit more
>hehe it‘s me
>woaaaah what no please don‘t tell me it‘s true
Never made any sense
>good guys all talk in advance and plan out things
>bad ending
>good guys go full moron and forget information they don't even share with Edea
>good ending
Bravely Second is better purely because it doesn't repeat FIVE times
Cool boss music.
The most 6/10 game ever.
Shit franchise overall
Haha, I just said the exact same thing about the sexual.
I hate sharing the internet with shit obsessed Slavs. What is wrong with you people?
Never heard an analogy before?
But are you Slavic?
>censored trash
Don't tell me you didn't hack your 3ds?
I got filtered trying to inject the English language into the jp version, downloaded the euro version instead hoping it wasn’t censored (it was) and then gave up and played it anyway (until i dropped it)
why didnt you just download the uncensored version
It was not available on any of the usual sites i dl from. This was several years ago, maybe things have changed.
It is but for some reason old gays (over 35) usually rag on it because it's not chrono trigger or one of those other shitty jrpgs that came out with a bland formula.
Its a Jrpg its trash by default.
adding a screething jap thot did not improve the track

Why do we like this shit game again??
I like this graphical style quite a lot. The turn based job based gameplay was refreshing but not as good as 4 Heroes of Light which came out the same time.

Anyone else wish the characters looked like that in-game and not like chibi miniatures?
no
Amazing combat, one of the best implementations of a job system ever. But the story is a fricking mess, the graphics are garbage (I'd prefer the PS1 aesthetic over this), every boss you fight has the exact same song, and Tiz+Agnes are such boring characters.
Still, one of the very few jarpigs I actually enjoyed. Didn't think it was possible to make an enjoyable jarpig combat system before I played this one. Shame BD2 is generic jarpig garbage, it ruins everything that was good about 1's combat system.
the ending was corny but otherwise pretty comfy.
>been playing BD on and off for a year
>village is almost complete while having a single lonely villager
I won homosexuals, fair and square
I just hacked 999 villagers in. Did same to Fort Lune. It annoys me profoundly the special attack mechanics are gated behind this fricking shit.
I will cheat once I start BS. A year has passed and I haven't encountered a single street pass bravely homosexual in a huge city, it's dead jim
Bravely Default and Second. Probably my favourite JRPGs alongside a few obscure PS2 titles.
BD2 is trash and I try to forget it exists.
Was hoping for something amazing on switch but we got this trash. Most likely done on purpose by SE to kill it.
>Most likely done on purpose by SE to kill it.
i would not be surprised if that were the case
i only played the demo but fricking hell i want to actually play the game i just dont have the money at the moment (and i have an old 3ds while hacking is possable its annoying as hell to set up i might buy a new 2ds at one point as well as a 128gb micro sd)
just use citra dude
Citra might be the worst emulator, but I'm sure it can handle BD. So there's that
It can certainly handle BS, so BD shouldn't be an issue
the greatest turn based jrpg of all time
I found this game worse than BD2, to be completely honest with you *shrug*
there is not a single facet of 2 that is better than 2nd
yew and magnolia are some of the worst characters i've ever seen in a jrpg, or in a video game period
soundtrack is vastly inferior to revo's music
some jobs like guardian are completely unintuitive and confusing, feels like they just wanted to make complex jobs for the sake of complexity
>soundtrack is vastly inferior to revo's music
compared to the first game sure, but 2s ost wasn't particularly great
>some jobs like guardian are completely unintuitive and confusing
filtered
Yeah I dropped Second because of Yew. Magnolia was kinda bland but was ok. Also the fact they super flanderized Edea.
>Also the fact they super flanderized everyone
FTFY
True.
Yew is much cooler in The Ballad of the Three Cavaliers, and so is Magnolia. I genuinely was left wanting more of those guys after the demo and I will forever be mad I didn't get that.
I didn't play the demo, what did they do different?
Yew, Janne and Nikolai feel like actual, genuine friends. They're all constantly having fun banter, helping each other along, reminiscing about their old university days. They talk about Crystalguard stuff, discuss tactics and even pose together. Magnolia never feels left out despite not being part of their friend group, and she grows into a part of the team over the course of the demo.
When I started up the complete Bravely Second, and found out that Yew, Jenne and Nikolai were still there, I was fricking hyped.
I wanted a The Three Musketeers adventure with Magnolia as a halberd-toting D'Artagnan. Fricking hell it could have been brilliant.
I would've liked that a lot more than what we got. Only thing I'd change is to make either Janne or Nikolai a girl, since Bravely seems to like the two girls, two guys dynamic.
Magnolia also wasn't caught up in the black hole that was her romance with Yew.
It's fine.
this is how i feel about the game so far, i got to what i presume is the first loop (they go into the light pillar and wind up back in caldisla) and haven't felt the urge to continue playing since, i do plan to finish it but i don't like the feeling of having to force myself to get around to it
i really, really don't like how you need to individually level each job upon getting a new one, and the story's kinda flaccid
I remember playing this right after Xcom:Enemy Unknown and it was jarring how shallow and lacking its turnbased combat was in comparison.
Post your favorite asterisk. For me it's this beauty.
I just unlocked this thing. Does anyone have any tips on using it?
I never used it much tbh but Noble Eagle, which doubles the attacking stats of all combatants, can be fun. You don't have to spend as much time buffing up or equipping multiple weapons and/or stat boosting abilities. But what do I know, I just use the good old Meteor Rain Mimic strat.
see you in hell
Wizard was my favorite because I liked Spellcraft. Then it also wound up being the most OP job in the game.
I liked Yew, gravy shtick aside. The cowardly protagonist growing to be more of a leader was nice. And I liked his scholar thing being rolled into expanding the monster entries.
Magnolia is just such a nothing character beyond being the sexy one, though. Literally just there to hump Yew.
I dunno the best way to break it but I remember using the bishop to double cast those special sin summons and then turning them into arrows to deal several 9999s
also max party heal rain because why not

I remember arcanist being nuts. the "deals damage to poisoned enemies" spell was insanely strong, and the "kill sleeping enemies" spell was fantastic for grinding enemies even if you were below them in level.
i love cowgirls
I like the original Native American version more, tbh.
Bravely (minus Default 2) is the true successor of the Final Fantasy name
You can't change my mind
Able to emulate well on PC?
yeah
Anon, it's a 3DS game
What do you think?
this game is barely passable
it is one of the most bland jrpgs i've ever played
it feel like a total "hurr durr final fantasy but not final fantasy"
i did not play any of its sequels or spinoffs
i did not manage to finish octotrash
this game is at best a 6.5/10 and that's before it makes you replay the game 4-5 times for the "true" ending (Boss rush but still)
its a 10/10 unironically better then any ff game
This game could've been great but the time loops ruin it.
u can skip them
Praline my wife
It's good but the way it forces you to repeat the same shit again and again was definitely just a way to artificially extend the game. I don't know how you can play through that nonsense and have any respect for the developer. They pissed away any good faith they had earned from the rest of it.
>forces
How many people just stopped playing before the first loop? If you've gone that far, are you really going to just stop?
I don’t know, but I do know the second one should be in the dictionary for mid. It was so fricking average in every way it hurt. 7/10^1000
Every time I try to get into this game, it just never clicks with me despite how impressive it is for the 3ds. Its in a weird uncanny place where I can't pinpoint the issue, and yet I get through repeat hallway slop like SMT if no problem.
HOTDOGGING EDEA'S BIG BUTT
Tried Bravely Default II, skipped over the first one, and it was kind of fun for a bit but got bored pretty quickly as well. I finished chapter one and dropped it but the first chapter feels like a massive slog, maybe I just played slowly, and I didn't really care that much for the combat system either.

I can’t speak for that but Olympics 64 was the most underrated game on the system. Curling was ridiculously somehow unreal fun with friends.
Dont play the 3ds then
so
What console if I can play?
Playstation 5
You know that Sony has PC playstation games too.
Also, if I had a console.
I want one that is totally anti-steam deck, anti-pc gaming, and Steam Valve
Absolutely not. The loops kill the pacing of the game.
I found it boring, honestly. I understand that turn based combat is coping for the lack of hardware but fricking hell does it get old by the hundredth time you kill the same thing the same way. You can pick a whole bunch of different abilities which are all just different particle effects. The story was ok I guess but the characters are all effectively just dolls babbling idle talk at each other instead of really talking and its all just fricking press [x] to continue. Not really much of a game. Not for me.
I massively enjoyed my first loop and even some of the second loop but it started to get old fast afterwards. The music is great though.
Even though I found the combat to be boring and a chore the music and important story bits and the fairy's sexy little ass turned it into something memorable.
?si=pQyK3lF9h6Fcfqfs
Kinda wish I didn't sell my copy but oh well. Not like I'd ever play it again.
There are definitely way better RPGs on the 3DS.
>ive never played a JRPG before
Yes we can tell. It's an alright game but it's just repeating the same old shit that's been done 1000 times before since the 4th generation.
bravely second is even better
Didn't play II however. The art style doesn't look very good in HD.
Okay, time to sort this shit out. Putting aside the PC capable sequel of Bravely Default II...
>Bravely Default(3ds)
>Bravely Second; End Layer (3ds0
Both of these need to be decensored/undubbed for the best experience, sadly, but thankfully there are pre-patched ROMs. The best I've found are the "UNDUB/UNCUT v2.0 by Ziperto" for each game, so that will help ya.
The one question I have however is if Citra can finally play these without having to cheat in the town building/suspension bits, or spot/streetpass stuff?
Village stuff is unnecessary even on non emulated versions. Everything it does is give you the option to buy better equipment in an already easy game
You need the village for the special attacks which is a pain in the ass.
By the time you're abusing them you've already unlocked every special attack and special attack status effect with a single villager.
the special attacks are moronicly gamebreaking if you go through the effort of actually engaging with the village
for the sake of your enjoyment you should avoid them as much as possible
