Music is good, mine cart level is studied to this day, hobbits, dwarfs -- everything.
Clearly it succeeded in on innovating Mario64's legacy. You can't point to a platformer that pulled that off.
>you can't
Thoughts? Comments?
Or are you morons still talking about uninspired Japanese titles just because the OP has softcore porn as the thumbnail???

Why did you care so much about a game for 7 year old children. Highly suspect.
I could never beat that undead boss when I was a kid
It suffers in being pre-Peter Jackson, as well as a meh game in Sierra's dying days.
>It suffers in being pre-Peter Jackson
How is this a bad thing? I miss the days when you had various interpretations of Middle Earth.
The cartoon lotr is still a masterpiece.
>WHERE THERES A WHIP
>THERES A WAY
>WE DONT WANNA GO TO WAR TODAY
>WE'RE GONNA MARCH ALL DAY ALL DAY ALL DAAAAAY
>WHERE THERE'S A WHIP THERE'S A WAY
The funny thing is that this isn't *entirely* non-canon. The singing is was completely made up by the cartoon, but the orc driver does shout "Where there's a whip, there's a will" at the orcs he's driving to war.
First, I am wrong, it released after the first movie (Frick me I thought LOTR was like 2004/5 not 2001)
Second, Because the devs/publisher are CLEARLY angling on the movie kicking ass at the box office to get confused parents and kids to buy this game. Then they play it and go "Hey why does it look like a Children's game art wise? Why does Bilbo look dweeby? Why isn't Gandalf voiced by Sir Ian?
That's not to say it's a bad game per say, I haven't played it, but it's a bargin bin game you get for Christmas from your grandma basically.
>bargin bin game you get for Christmas from your grandma basically.
The talent put into this was in the art and music, ofc the gameplay is just OK. Maybe I'm moronic, maybe, definitely... but this charm isn't seen anymore. Reminds me of TT first title Bone: Out From Boneville.
I'm not saying it like it's bad per say. Just it is what it is.
I got pic rel for my birthday long ago. It's basically a AA Russian Sid Meier's Pirates with some RPG elements (and perks with a very clearly copies Vault Boy in the images).
I had a good time, even beat the game. Hard as balls though, or maybe I sucked as a kid. It's still though just that, a "game" you get from a relative that doesn't know what to really get you.
Again not bad, just what happens.
That cover is sick, but ya I'm following ya.
I'm pretty sure this game was in development before Fellowship came out in 2001. I was 12 then.
>I haven't played it
Yeah of course you waited until the very end of your moronic prattling to say that
Lego Hobbit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Hobbit
You're not allowed to make such comparisons, this is my thread. I will kill you.
*I will kill you in mine cart level
The Hobbit has some pretty broken speedruns, I'll leave you think about that one.
Just got done looking into it, and I'm glad I did. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂
>The prelude to The Lord Of The Rings
kek I love how much Sierra was trying to leech off the success of FOTR the prior winter. Because we all know that's what was going on in their minds when wanting to market the game especially since so many who saw the movies never once read The Hobbit or LOTR.
Yeah it's good but this board doesn't talk about games that aren't fotm.
I remember the load times being horrendous.
Loved this game as a kid, played on PC. I should go back and replay it.
I remember this was advertised on nick or cartoon network way too much. I always wanted to play it because it looked like Zelda but I never did.
this and lord of the rings the fellowship of the ring was pure kino
From what I remember, it kinda just ends?
Yup, just a one shot platformer. No gimmicks, other than marketing during the TLOR films. We really need more games like this. 15$ price tag probably is the most I'd pay tho.
I wanted to play this game as a kid, but never got it.
Didn't Tolkien's estate have some weird thing going on where EA/Peter Jackson couldn't make any Middle Earth products that weren't directly related to the movies? I remember them shitting this and a Fellowship of the Ring game out that sucked ass.
The Tolkien Estate hated the movies for some reason.
I have no clue why they hated the movies, but apparently approved of this and War of the Ring.
I finished reading Fellowship of the Ring today, I loved it.
I never got that far into it but the Gameboy version of this was fun and had a pretty nice soundtrack.
The JP box art is pure soul.
>mine cart level is studied to this day
What do you mean?
Production has started.
