Absolutely based. Such a stupid point to make, no matter the franchise. Often a sequel is extremely different from a predecessor to make an explicit point, as well.
And Zelda 2 is an excellent game.
Do you know how I know they made a mistake they Zelda 2? Zelda 3 returns to the classic Zelda 1 style and story.
And then they abandon that with Ocarina of Time, proving the original style was a mistake.
To be fair Ocarina of Time tries it's damndest to replica the aLttP format in 3D
